Automatic refresh does not work - multiple macs, ICAL versions, OS versions

Hey.
I have a problem that I can't fix and I couldn't find any suitable input for.
We use ICAL on multiple macs (some of them with differing IOS and ICAL versions installed) and share differing calendar subscriptions.
So far so good.
Unfortunately the automatic refresh doesn't work on all macs. It seems like it depends on the IOS- or ICAL- Version installed, whether the automatic refresh works or not.
For example:
My friend creates an appointment on a shared calendar.
She uses MAC OS X 10.6.8 and ICAL 4.0.4.
I use MAC OS X 10.8.5 and ICAL 6.0.
We both activated the automatic refresh option in our account informations and set the time interval on 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes the calendar automatically refreshes and I can see her appointment.
Unfortunately it doesn't work the other way around. When I create an appointment, she has to manually force ICAL to refresh in order to see the entry.
Any help? Any suggestions? We would really appreciate it.

Automatic update does not work

On my both computers (Windows 7, Window 8), the automatic update does not work at all, although it is activated in the options. All I get in the Firefox info box is that an update is available, with a link that I have to follow to download the installation file and install it manually. No difference even if I wait for weeks, the update is neither downloaded nor installed automatically. The problem persists in all Firefox versions since version 3.6.16 / 2011 (the last update in the chronicle). Note that the automatic update seems to perform well in the Windows XP mode of my Windows 7 system !

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I don't know since I don't share anything. You'll have to peruse the help files and check the permissions and ACLs on the Shared folder. According to the permissions on the Shared folder everyone can R&W. If you want those to be inherited by everything dropped into the folder, add an ACL for
everyone allow read, write

Has anyone been able to contact Adobe to learn why their Flash Player does not work on Mac OS 10.6.8, no matter how many updates you install? This seems like a big error by Adobe.

I have thee Mac computers with Mac OS 10.6.8, one of which is a Mac Pro. No matter how many updates I install from Adobe, their Flash Player does not work on any of these 3 computers. I don't know how to contact Adobe Systems about this problem, but I think it is their responsibility to make sure that their so-called "universal" software works proplerly on a relatively recent operating system like OS 10.6.8 that is still in widespread use. When you install the updates, nothing happens -- not even an error message. What is the point of a universal player that is not universal? It works fine on my MacBook Pro with OS 9 Mavericks, but it does not work at all -- indeed, has never worked -- on my 3 Macs with OS 10.6.8. Has anyone contacted Adobe Systems to find out why the Flash Player does not work with OS 10.6.8 and what they plan to do about it?

Where are you getting Flash from?
Get the appropriate dmg installer here and then run it.

If it still won't install, do these two things: First uninstall any Flash by going into the second level Hard Drive Library>Internet Plug-ins, and trash the Flash Player.plugin and flashplayer.xpt. Then boot into Safe Boot, Shift at the startup chime (give it much longer than a usual boot) and run the installer while booted in Safe Boot.

10.4, How to stop plug-ins update reminder, Windows fix does not work on Mac.

Need to get rid of bar across top saying plug-ins are not up-to-date. The "fix" posted for Windows does not work on my Mac. When I try for updates, none seem to install. How do I really find out if the ones I have are the latest available for my system? Everything seems to work OK as is. Could it be that my Mac is PPC and that there are plug-in updates that would work in 10.4 on Intel but not on PPC, and that FireFox cannot differentiate?

Setting the Boolean pref plugins.hide_infobar_for_outdated_plugin to true on the about:config page should hide that info bar.

HP Laserjet P1005 does not work under Mac OS X 10.6

Driver is not listed and downloading the driver from HP still does not work. Guess HP has not yet updated for Snow Leopard. Anyone have a work around for now?
I use this little black and white laserjet for all of my documents. Also have a few color Epsons but I do not want to use those for quick and dirty documents.
Any help would be much appreciated.

You should contact your bank to see what browsers they support and until then ignore the message. The chances are very good they suppport Safari and Firefox, both are great browers.

TimedTrigger does not work after opening a popup on version 7.11

Hi experts,
In my application, there are 2 Windows (W_MAIN, W_POPUP) and 2 Views (V_MAIN, V_POPUP). I put TimedTrigger component to the first view, it is used for refreshing page automatically. W_POPUP and V_POPUP are used for opening popup.
The TimedTrigger works well on V_MAIN, but it does NOT work any more after the popup is used (opened and closed). The TimedTrigger just works again when the browser is refreshed.
The problem happens on Netweaver PI version 7.11 only, on version 7.1 is OK
Please give me your advice on it.

Rollback to savepoint does not work in 2.1.1.64 version?

I did an insert, created a savepoint called first_update and received the savepoint created successfully message. I then did an update and then typed in: rollback to first_update. I received the message: rolledback and it rolled back all the way. It ignored the savepoint. Previous versions would rollback to the marker(savepoint) and I would receive the message: rollback to succeeded. I am running against an 11gR1 database on Windows.
Is this a bug? or is there a setting somewhere that needs to be changed?
It works in sqlplus still.
Sep 23, 2010 - I went back to test this in versions 1.2.1 and 1.5 and it works there. It does not work in 2.1.0.63 either.

The ROLLBACK TO SAVEPOINT command does not seem to be recognised by SQL Developer, but it does in SQL*Plus!
When you issue a "ROLLBACK TO SAVEPOINT" in SQL Developer or in SQL*Plus, they both give a "Rollback complete." message, however SQL Developer has done a "ROLLBACK;" and SQL*Plus has correctly done a "ROLLBACK TO SAVEPOINT".
(FYI: The documentation suggests that "ROLLBACK TO SAVEPOINT" should give a 3-word message: "Rollback to complete" whereas "ROLLBACK" should give a 2-word "Rollback complete", but it does not.)

Automatic Zoom Does Not Work

I have an answers report (dashboard) in obiee 11g with a map, when i do drill down over the map or over the data the map always stay static, in other dashboard
that uses other map tile layer it works doing zoom automatically to the area selectionated. Could you say me what is wrong or what i must verify??

If Software Update does not report that newer versions are available, then your iTunes & QuickTime software, are as far as they came be updated for your OS.
Mac OS X Versions 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, and 10.4, are complete system upgrades that must be purchased.
The point upgrades, such as 10.1.x to 10.1.5 (Final) 10.2.x to 10.2.8 (Final), 10.3.x to 10.3.9 (Final), and 10.4.x to 10.4.8 (Pending), can be downloaded for free.
Tiger is available for purchase at The Apple Store (U.S.).
Panther, is no longer available directly from the Apple Online Store, as Tiger 10.4.x is the most up to date OS.
If you know what to look for, a Full Retail Version, of the Panther Install CDs, or a Full Retail Version, of the Tiger Install DVD, can also be purchased rather inexpensively, at some additional online Apple retailers, Amazon, eBay, FastMac, etc.
Be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.
Panther is only on CDs, not DVDs.

Once Panther 10.3.x is installed, you can use the 10.3.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the final version.
If your Mac meets the System Requirements for Tiger, you could also consider installing that.

CascadeType.REFRESH does not work? (EJB3, Jdeveloper 10.1.3.0.4)

We have requirement to at least for some entity bans be able to pick external changes to the database records from the appserver. This is why in 1:M relationships we need to be able to see deleted/added/changed children records for arbitrary parent record.
For some reason, it does not look like CascadeType.REFRESH annotation works as it should (also tried CascadeType.ALL).
Can anyone please shed some light on this (i.e whether this is a bug or something we do wrong here).
Steps to reproduce (full code also provided):

Sync does not work- multiple desktop FF

Sync does not allow adding more than one DESKTOP FF in order to sync multiple desktop FF (e.g: work, home, & friends , etc..)
I do not like to use an add-on.

Sync doesn't care about the type of device (desktop vs laptop vs phone) when trying to add a new device to a Sync account. Please explain what you want to do with Sync with a little more detail.

HP Envy 5530 e-all-in-one Does Not Work With Mac

Just bought an HP Envy 5530 all-in-one. It does not print through Safari and possibly other Mac applications. Does not frame the page properly even with "print page" and prints slower than 1 page per minute, even with no background images. My old HP had no problem with Safari. Phone support tells me there is no driver or fix. So I will return the device. Seems crazy. I now see othr commenters saying it doesn't work with Mac. If HP's no longer works with major Mac applications, they will be returned in droves. Anyone know why or know of a fix?

Solution approach to MANY issues where automatic sleep does not work

I had many issues for a long time where my machine would not go to sleep automatically. This annoyed me quite a bit.
I have read long ago that this might happen if an application writes standard output to the console. Those write "events" you do not notice as user as long as you never open the "Console" application and check...
my console was empty...
BUT I checked some other logs and I found that basically and frequent log written prevents the machine from automatically going to sleep.
In my case it was related to have "Firewall logging" enabled. The firewall logged every 3-4 minutes that it was listening..
I turned off "Firewall logging" and finally my machine goes to sleep again automatically after the specified time of no activity

That is interesting, and thanks for posting. However, I tested the premise on my own systems and the firewall logging did not prevent the Macs from sleeping on schedule. I do admit that I usually put them to sleep when I am finished with whatever I am doing.
I do have a strange anomaly that causes my iMacs to wake on random occasions, but that is not relevant to your issue.
