Automatic registration of the mac adress on wlc

Hi evrybody,
At this moment, I'm working with an WLC 5508 and the authentication is done with Freeradius, till now every thing is working correctly, when I entered my radius login the connexion was successful; if I exceed the timeout session for expample 300 seconde (it was configured on  WLAN tab => advanced tab => Enable session timeout)
but my goal is:
to login for the first time on the wlc portal and after that I want that the controller be able to save my mac address and don't ask me to login another time => automatic connexion
There is also another possibility which is: to renew the request each year for example.
Thanks for any suggestion

Hello Sali, to register MAC addresses you need an advanced Radius server like PacketFence (which uses FreeRadius) or like Cisco ISE.
I guess you want to autodetect and auto register the MAC addresses of your wireless endpoints for a couple of weeks only (to give time to all endpoints to register) ad after that you will only permit access to those MAC addresses already registered, is that right ?
You can do that with both Cisco ISE and PacketFence, but since you tell me you already use FreeRadius, then I think it makes more sense to use PacketFence.
I have lots of experience with Cisco ISE. Now I'm testing PacketFence with a Cisco switch, next week I will test PacketFence with a Cisco WLC.
Insieme is the creator of PacketFence, if you need support you can contact them. They have several videos in youtube, like these :

Is it possible to find the mac adress of my stolen macbook pro? I've mad ea research an found out that the Mac Adress is really important to trace the device. But it's too late to check that on my laptop.. What should i do?

I understand that. But about your only shot without the box is to supply Apple with the serial number and ask them for the MAC info. My thought was if you can supply the serial number it's more proof that you're the owner. There's really no other way to get it without their help.

No.  The data that you downloaded from your iPhone will remain on your MBP.

  • Show mac command...to tell me the MAC adress of a specific port - Linksys SGE 2010

    Hello together,
we are using a Linksys SGE 2010 in our small business. I would like to know which devices (MAC-Address) is behind a specific port. Does the switch have this function? I can't type commands, because the SSH or telnet interface is a menu (see screenshot). Because I want to document which PC is on which port...therefore  I need the MAC behind every specific port.
    Thank You in advance.
    Kind regards,

  • Stolen laptops - tracing the MAC adresses

We have had a number of laptop thefts in recent months and would be able to track some of these thefts if only we had the MAC addresses! When new laptops are stolen just after delivery there is no record whatever of either their wireless or NIC MAC addresses which could be used to locate their use on our network and on the networks of other HE Institutions. It appears that Toshiba doesn't keep a record of serial number and MAC address.
A plea to Toshiba: when will you start keeping a record of MAC addresses against serial numbers?
Although we appreciate that software is available to change MAC addresses would it not be valid to record the addresses for each laptop on issue?
At least we would stand a fighting chance of tracking the laptop in use..???

    Hi
It seems that its not known to you that this is a user-to-user forum and you will find only Toshiba notebook users here in the forum. So nobody from Toshiba here.
Anyway did you check the bottom of one of the Toshiba units???
I found on my notebooks underside different labels with different numbers.
There is a label with the serial number, model number and you will of course find two labels with LAN MAC address and with the WLan Mac address.
I think its no problem for everyone to note these numbers and addresses
Do you know Toshiba support homepage?
    Check this:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com -> Support & Download
There you will find a database with stolen units. There you can register your stolen notebook.
    Regarding the Mac address tracking;
Of course its possible to find out the Mac address but how do you want to find the notebook with such Mac address? Do you want to track the whole www???
For me it sounds not really realistic

  • Ise 1.2 Device Registration not auto filling the MAC field

    Hello
I have installed 1.2 and when guests login, they get the new (not improved imo) device registration portal, but the field where they have to enter the MAC adress is empty, I can remember it was prefilled in previous ISE versions.
Is this normal beheavior on 1.2? I have configured calling station ID on MAC instead of IP, any other things that I need to configure to get this working?
90% of the users doesnt know what a MAC adress is, or where to find it.
    Greetings
    Steven

Peter, I am glad you like my slides (although not sure I ever published this version outside Cisco!).
Steven, It sounds like you have enabled the option in the Guest Portal to allows Device Registration.  This option is intended to be used by Guest accounts only and does NOT support auto-populate of MAC address.  This was a very limited feature introduced in 1.0.
This feature should not be confused with the DRW or NSP flows for device registration.  For the purposes of device registration with web auth, both CWA+DRW and CWA+NSP flows are working in ISE 1.2 Patch 7.  However, CWA+NSP flow will not work for guest user accounts if enable the Supplicant Provisioning option in the web portal. The intent of the NSP flow is for employee accounts doing BYOD, and not for guest users.  That said, it will still work if redirect successfully authenticated guest users to NSP using the Network_Access:UseCase=Guest_Flow condition (and optional match on Guest role).
I would recommend CWA+DRW option for Guest users as it is simpler, more streamlined, and you can specify a unique Identity Group such as "GuestEndpoints" to these devices.  This makes future cleanup easier and maintains them separately from employee RegisteredDevices.  ISE 1.2 ERS API can be used to programmatically  to delete these endpoints periodically.
    Hope that helps to clarify.

  • Can LabVIEW acess the ethernet card MAC adress by any dll ?

I've seen other postings telling that it is possible to acess the MAC adress using IPCONFIG/all by DOS command and using system exec. I also saw that it is possible (under windows 2000) change this number under configuration. I tried and it really changes ! I was wondering if it is possbile to use any windows dll to acess this MAC Adress ?
    RKO

    Hi Gurdas,
I found a couple example programs that might help you out.
I have attached a GetMacAddress.vi that uses a CIN to make calls to Windows API to return the MAC address of the computer.
The second example Get_Remote_MAC_Address.vi will retrieve the MAC address of a remote computer on your local subnet. It uses calls to the System Exec VI which calls the Windows utilities "ping" and "arp" which return this information. It then parses the MAC address and returns it. Unfortunately the "arp" command does not properly return the MAC address when fed the IP address of the computer that runs it, so if you feed the VI the IP address of the computer that is executing the VI, it will attempt to use "ipconfig" to get the local computer's MAC address.
Note that because these commands are Windows-specific, these examples will work only with Windows operating systems.
Hope this helps. Best of luck!
    Kileen

  • How to Fetch MAC-Adresses across Subnets

    Hi All,
for some reason we have a number of Machines out there where we would like to install a Package via ARD instead of Casper. We have a list of Hostnames from this Machines. Now, the first idea was to ping them and to get the MAC-Adress out of the ARP Cache via arp -a. All together could be used as an Import-File for Remote-Desktop.
But ARP does not work across Subnets.
Now i was wondering - how does for example ARD read the MAC-Adress from a Machine if i do a scan to a specific Network-Range. Could i use this process to fetch the MAC-Addresses? Or could there be another way.
    bye
    joe

    Hi
You could try installing ARD on a client within that range? Poll workstations within that range for relevant information. Save it to the Desktop of that ARD workstation. Transfer it to a memory stick etc. Or if you know the IP address of that workstation you may be able to add it using the network address option from another workstation that's in a different subnet.

  • How do I install the Mac App Store on my OS X?

The download is not under Software Update. Do I have the right version?

You can get a free copy of Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.8 if you have a Mobile Me account. It is being offered to allow Leopard users to migrate to iCloud, but it will automatically give you the Mac App Store.

  • Where can I find the Mac address on somewhere other than my iPod touch? Like the box?

Where can I find the Mac Address for my iPod Touch? Is it on the box somewhere? I lost my iPod a while ago, but I was told that if I had the Mac Adress, I would be able to retrace it. Help!

You were told incorrectly.  Knowing the MAC address will not help you track your iPod.  The only way to track your iPod (and then only under limited specific conditions) is to have turned on Find My iPhone on the iPod before it was lost.

  • Mac adress authentication with Radius

    Hello all
we have an WiFi architecture based on two Radius servers (ACS 3.2)
We make a Mac adress authentication with WEP on these Radius servers. Ours Wirelless cards are Proxim Orinoco. When we used the user and the passord identified by the mac adress manualy that works.
But, the authentication by Mac adress with the wireless card don't work. The log on the radius servers are "CS PASSWORD INVALID".
    Ideas ?
    Regards

First ensure the password on the access point and the authentication server is the same. I have had this trouble getting authenitcated with ACS for admin authentication. Installing it on another machine made it work. So try uninstalling ACS completely using the recovery CD and reinstall it to check if this works.

  • Wireless Mac-Adress Filtering via Radius Bypassed

    Hello
i have two Mac-adress based filtered WLAN configured plus one Guest SSID.
The mac-adress filtering is linked to a radius server faut mac verification
When i enable Fast-SSID change (globally for controller) i can switch from guest ssid to mac-filtered SSID without radius validation of my mac.
If i disable fast-SSId change, i cannot switch between, and radius return reject for my MAC@
the problem is i have some iPhones switching between two SSID --> i have to leav Fast-SSID change activated, if not iPhones can't connect to SSIDs ...
    ( as stated in : https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-21729 )
    My version : 7.2.103.0
Does anybody can confirm this problem ?
