Automatic remove all existing Versions of Adobe Reader ?

Hello,
i am seeking for a program which removes me all (really all) old Versions from adobe with registry cleanup and so on.
Its very hard to do this manually. I found a solution for Adobe Reader 8, but its a complete manually way.
I've updatet all Adobe Readers to the latest version, but i can still see entrys of old Adobe Readers 9.0 abd 9.3 in the hklm\software\microsoft\uninstall Folder.
any ideas
best regards
Muelli

Hello all,
ok let me describe my question: is there a tool vom Adobe directly which cleans up all Adobe reader versions?
Such a tool exists for flashplayer for example, which works fine. So i hope such a "cleanuptool" was providet by adobe too.
otherwise i need all registry-entrys for the versions starting from version 8.0 to clean up all old versions, which is a lot of work.
regards
muellie
PS: why i need that? we are providing softwaremanagement in our company. now we have differnet versions from adobe reader all over the company (around 2000 clients). we would like to have one version all over the company but need to remove all old things before, especially the reader itself and the language-packs.

How do I uninstall older versions of Adobe Reader 9.4.4 from the Remove
    Programs in the Control Panel?

You can use the Acrobat Cleaner Tool from http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
This will remove all versions of Adobe Reader and Acrobat.

I need to get the latest version of Adobe Reader.  Is this still free?  How can I receive automatic upgrades?

Of course the free Reader is still available: http://get.adobe.com/reader/
To get automatic updates set the Updater in the Reader Preferences.

  • I am trying to download an iWork manual from the Apple website.  All I get is a plain black page, even tho' I am following download instructions carefully.  I have the latest version of Adobe Reader.

I am trying to download an iWork 09 manual from the Apple website but all I get is a big plain black window.  I am following the download instructions very carefully.  I know I have the most recent version of Adobe Reader.  Using Safari, when I try to "Save As", I get a message saying "cannot export".  What am I doing wrong??

Turns out this is an overall problem....any PDF I try to download on line turns up the same plain black page.  Doesn't matter whether it is what I tried to download mentioned above, or if it's the latest power bill from our utility company.  An UGLY black screen!!   I have it set up that downloaded PDF documents should open in Preview.
On the other hand, any PDF documents in my computer files open with no problem.
Prior to installing Lion, most of my activity lately has been converting AppleWorks documents to Pages and, if that doesn't work, I convert to PDF.  Other than that, I haven't been fooling around with any settings.
Once again, I appreciate  your input....any other suggestions?

  • Problems with all versions of Adobe Reader Changing shortcuts upon install.

I am using windows 7 and attempting to install Adobe Reader 9.3.4.  When I do this all of my shortcut icons change to Adobe Reader icons.  Also, the destination links in the shortcuts have NOT changed but when I click on something such as the calculator it will try to open Adobe Reader.  The shortcuts return to normal when Adobe Reader is uninstalled.  I have installed several older versions of Adobe Reader and the same thing happens.  has anyone heard of this happening and if so do you happen to know of a solution?

There was some discussion here around this issue. Please refer to the following post:

  • Trusted certificates from your previous version of Adobe Reader were found.

After upgrading Adobe Reader from 10 to 11, some users are getting "Adobe Reader Security - Trusted certificates from your previous version of Adobe Reader were found.  Would you like to import them."  I need to know what registry settings we can modify to either set this automatically to "Import" or "Use Default"  I need to add one of these options into our Adobe Reader Settings GPO that is using group policy preferences.  This only appears for users who have data in C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0\Security and only the very first time the user opens Adobe Reader after the upgrade per user profile on a given server.

I'm not sure this is true: "If they don't exist then there is no dialog. " Could be, but I've never heard of it.
However, acrodata files perform a number of functions for several features, so removing them is unwise. Also, they will just come back when a user exercizes certain features.
Better to just turn off the feature with the supported preference.

  • Problem with the Enterprise version of Adobe Reader 10.1.3

I tried deploying the 10.1.3 in the way I successfully deployed 1.1 and 1.2, but kept getting errors about a transform on install. I tried installing the patched MSI without any transforms, but still got the error. Then I tried running the download straight from the enterprise distribution link, but that didn't work either, even on a computer without Adobe Reader installed.
I think there might be something wrong with the enterprise distribution.

Our Windwso 7 64 bit systems never had reader v8.

I am getting messages that I can't download and read .pdf files since I have the wrong Adobe reader. I know about their security disasters of course, but I downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader from the Adobe web site and I have other ,pdf file readers as well, and for some reason they won't work either. I have 5 computers running top end processors and RAM. By this I mean I have one, this one which I am using that has an AMD Phenom Black 3.2 Quad-core with 8 GBs of Corsair top DDR2 RAM, my other two AMD have either an Athlon II triple core with 4 GBs of DDR2 Corsair RAM, one with the Phenom X4 965 3.4 GHz Quad-core with 8 GBs of their best DDR2 RAM, and two Intels with the i7 920 Processors using the triple channel 1366 socket processors and one with 8 GBs of low latency DDR3 RAM and the other with 4 GBs of the same RAM. I am getting the message on this one, which has a fresh install of XP Pro X64 operating system, as do the other 4 as well. I have run Avast Business Pro Anti-virus on this one, which I am getting the message on with a single result which I deleted, and also both Spybot Search and Destroy, which came back clean as well as Malwarebytes Antimalware, which got a lot of tracing cookies now removed, and SuperAntiSpware which also found a few cookies also now deleted. Can you tell me what I need to do to get these files to show as .pdf files rather than as a clean blank page. One other issue is that I wish to know how to turn off my downloads so they are saved and Mozilla will give me the option of returning them instead of me losing them all together as it does now. Thanks for your assistance. If there is another Adobe reader I should download and install, could you provide me with the link to it? I appreciate your assistance here
== When I download and try to read a .pdf file and when I am asked to turn off all Firefox files and if I do, I lose them since I need to know how to save them without rebooting my computer.

Brilliant! Problem solved! Thanks so much.

  • I am having trouble running the latest version of adobe reader 10 how can i resolve this

i am having trouble running the latest version of adobe reader 10. i have adobe 9 which is fine but i'm not able to do certain things on certain sites without 10. how can i resolve this?

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Deleting older versions of Adobe Reader

    I have several versions of Adobe Reader (7.0, 7.0.8, 7.0.9, 8.1.1, 8.1.1, 9.0).
Can the older versions be safely removed from my computer? Without affecting the newest update version 9.0?

On Windows removing one version will break the others. Remove all,
re-install the latest. On Mac, no known issues.
    Mike

  • I Beta tested 4.0 RC1 and now can not upgrade to 4.0. Error message is need to reboot to complete prior instalation. Have removed all previous versions of Firefox, rebooted and still same error message.

I Beta tested up to and including 4.0 RC1 without major problems. However I can not now upgrade to 4.0. Same error message time and again, "need to reboot to complete prior upgrade instalation". I rebooted several times, then tried first removing all previous versions of Firefox using both MS Add/Remove and then iolo System Mechanic, then again downloading 4.0. Even after rebooting same error message. I can not therefore install/use Firefox.

    Do a clean (re-)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 4.0: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Java applets won't load, have latest version of java installed, have removed all old versions from the hard drive, java console not working in firefox, any suggestions please ?

    java applets will not load,
i have run the java test page & i have the latest version installed.
have removed all old versions of java from my hard drive & restarted the computer.
i have checked that java is enabled in the plug-ins and it is with version se 6 u22, also something called java development toolkit 6.0.220.4 np runtime script plug-in library for java (tm) deploy.
if i click on java console in tolls nothing happens

    Hi,
You might want to look in your control panel for 'Java' icon. It should give you an option to enable java plugin into your browser. Let me know if you still face the issue.
    Thanks!

  • I have been able to open PDF docs using C# API Process.Start("Full_path_To_the_PDF_File") in windows 7 or windows 8 with all previous versions of Acrobat32 reader.

I have been able to open PDF docs using C# API Process.Start("Full_path_To_the_PDF_File") in windows 7 or windows 8 with all previous versions of Acrobat32 reader.
However, with v11.0, the same command, in Windows 8, it does not open the PDF document. I can see the Acrobat(32) started in the task manager, but the document does open. Not sure how I can troble shoot this problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I haven't use the C# API but I imagine it is the same as C ShellExecute. Which in turn is the same thing (in essence) as double clicking in Windows Explorer.
So... does Adobe Reader run normally on this machine?
And does it start and open if you double click on a PDF file?

  • PDF Form Requires a newer version of Adobe Reader

New at this...Created my form in Live Cycle 8.0/Professional 8. Throughout company we are using Acrobat Reader 7.0 and are not at this time looking to upgrade. When our users open this form, get "This PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe Reader..." and prompts them to upgrade. Is there anyway I can get rid of this message...a way to make my form know that users will be opening in 7.0 and accept without error?
Also, I'm not able to get the Submit to Email button to work...getting "This operation is not permitted"...how can I fix?
Funny thing is I had been able to get the e-mail button to work at one time, but now, all of the sudden, it doesn't want to work...even on my machine which has Live Cycle/Professional 8 loaded?????
    Thanks!

    Geo,
Thanks for the quick response. Tried and received: "This PDF document contains an Adobe XML form. Such files cannot be optimized.
    Help...thanks again
