Automatic replacement in Pages 5.0 ?

I've just updated my Page 09. to Page 5.0 and I can't find any more the thing I prefered : Automatic Replacement. "we" => "week end"...
Previously, you could find it with : Cmd + ;
If anyone has found out where this feature is, please help me.

The new Pages 5.0 uses the System Autocorrection in System preferences > Keyboard > Text

Other than GetboxMan's suggestion, you'll want to be sure that the IRS will accept a Word document bfore doing the work. My agency collects tax documents and we're very specific about what you send back. It needs to be something that works with our data collection software.
At any rate, if they DO accept Word documents, you may want to try out the trial version of Acrobat. It has the abiity to save as a Word document (although the success rate can be low). The trial is fully functional and free for 30 days.

Replace multiple pages en masse in an index template

We have an index page already set up and from time to time we need to replace the pages under each index. Is there any way that we can drag ALL the replacement pages so that it will automatically line up with the existing index.
Each replacement page is a seperate pdf file.
Any help is appreciated.

create a new table in winword with one row and one column and no margins, borders ... Set the row-property that it don't allow to break a row.
Now copy your table into this table.

Search and Replace in Pages 5

Search and Replace in Pages is now seriously regressive. Previously I could search for "invisibles" in a document and globally replace the search "invisible" by a replace one. Now I can't find a way of doing that. Any suggestions?

Try this:
Turn on Show Invisibles in the View menu.
Select (highlight) the double para breaks.
Use Command-E (Find using selected text).
Open the Find dialogue box (Command-F) and select Find & Replace.The selected para breaks will be in the Find text entry box, but will not be visible!
Click in the Replace text entry box.
Select (highlight) a single para break.
Go to the Edit menu / Find and select 'Use selection for replace' (it will not show in the Replace entry box).
In the Find & Replace dialogue box, click on the Forward or Back arrows to highlight the selected items (e.g. double para break) where you wish to start replacing in the document.
Use the Replace All / Replace & Find / Replace buttons as per usual.
Not a nice solution, but I hope it gets you going until Apple restores the previous functionality!

"Blank page" text on automatically created empty pages

I want "blank page" text to appear automatically on any page that FrameMaker_8 adds to create an even pagecount. Is this possible?

Nope, unless you want to have the default MP "Left" laid out as a TPILB (This Page Intentionally Left Blank). That also requires creating a new "Left.Content" MP, and making sure that a critical mass of commonly used Paragraph Formats are mapped to it or "Right".
What FM needs, and doesn't have, is a notation for the MasterPageMappingTable that controls what happens when there is no Flow A or other user generated content for a page.
Back in the real world, always first work Plan 0, which is to talk management or the customer out of requiring TPILBs in the first place.
TPILBs: I know how to do 'em. Glad we don't need 'em here.

When using Mavericks, how can I automatically replace 'i' with 'I' when typing?
It was easy to do prior to mavericks using system preferences (language and text), but now I can only submit a 2 letter word to replace, not a 1 letter word. I have tried using a space but it doesn't allow that. I would assume that most people would love to be able to type quickly without having to make uppercase I all the time (first world problem i know), so I can't understand why apple have removed this feature.

There is the shift key, or text replacement approach, providing you have enabled two things:
Edit > Substitution > √ Text Replacement
System Preferences > Keyboard > TextClick + to add a replacement
Replaceii[spacebar]
With
I[spacebar]
Press return
Quit System Preferences
Now, when you type ii, you will see a pop-up offering I.
In the OS X App Store, search for WordService. This free collection of Services will enable you to just type your content, select it, and then choose the Service item, “Initial Caps of Sentences.” It does what it says.

That depends on what you mean by "automatically turning the page". The only available settings for page turning behavior is in Settings > iBook > Both Margins Advance.

Right click on a template and choose Get Info. Find the "Open with" section, and change it to Word. Click Change All if you want all templates to be opened in Word by default.

How to automatic submit a page if a field is filled?

still I have the problem to give my users a simple method for login. MOD_NTLM cannot be used because we have windows 2003.
So I had another idea. I create 2 hidden items on the login-page (101). These fields I fill with the URL: http://bondbmstst01.eba.local:7777/pls/htmldb/f?p=101:101:::::P101_P1,P101_P2:Uxxyu],qopp
The character at the end of the line are crypted the username and password. I fill the items P101_USERNAME with "select encrypt_auth(:P101_P1) from dual", the password is the same.
Now I have only to press the LOGIN-Button to login. But I would have, that if the hidden item P101_P1 is filled, the button is hit by automatic or the page submitting is automatic.
Is this possible?

Hello Mike,
it is not exact this. In normal the login-page has 2 items, one for username, one for password. To login I have to fill out the both fields and press enter or click "Login". This is good so.
Another way to login should be, that I write the username and password in the URL and fill two hidden items. If the page is loaded, I will check the both hidden fields and make a automatic login - without a user have to write anything.
I can fill the items P101_USERNAME and P101_PASSWORD, but after that a user have to click on the button "LOGIN", but I dont want, that a user have to do anything to login.
I hope, it is now a little bit clearer.

How to turn off automatic numbering in Pages

I recently had a problem getting rid of automatic numbering within Pages.
I keyed in a numbered heading (eg, "1. H1") and then hit return, when it gave me another numbered heading ("2. H2") on the next line, which I didn't want.
The easiest way to get round this is to hit the return key on the automatically numbered line (eg, "2. H2"), which removes the "2" and puts you to the start of the line. This seems to tell Pages that you don't want automatic numbering, at least for the time being. Perhaps until you key another numbered heading...
To turn off automatic numbering on an individual line you can press the "i" button at the top and select "None". That will remove the number.

The View menu does what it says:
Menu > View > Hide Invisibles

Script to automatically replace specific layer?

Hello. I work for a small company and we frequently get client AI files that we need to edit. Because of the way thay're formatted the layers always come in with the same name/structure, but they always have a layer that we need to replace. We have to go into a shared drive and manually place our desired item (a .pdf file if it's of importance) in the subset layer to continue with the file. So for example, there will be a layer in the default file named Layer 1, and in that layer is group 1 > group > Clipping Mask and Image.
I know ideally we should just fix the scripting that formats the layers, but for now that's not possible. So, what I'd like to be able to do (assuming it's even possible) is have a script that we can run that will automatically replace the 'Image' file in those subset layers I mentioned with a file from a location on a local machine (i.e. replace Layer 1>group 1>group>image.jpg with C:/example/example.pdf).
I searched online and couldn't find anything, so I figured I'd turn to the community for help. Any input, suggestions or creative workarounds would be greatly appreciated! And as always, thanks ahead of time, everyone on these forums is usually very nice and awesome, so it's always nice to come here for help.

I'm not aware of any pre-written scripts that will do exactly what you need, although there may well be. Typically, this forum tries to assist those creating new scripts or modify existing scripts, as stated in the Forum preamble, under "Useful information and links". See http://forums.adobe.com/community/illustrator/illustrator_scripting and in the yellow box there are some excellent links to assist you. You may be surprised how quickly you'll pick it up.
Having said that, I'd be happy to help assist you if you still want to pursue this and participate in the development. A few thoughts come to my mind. 1) the image that needs to be replaced: does it have a consistent name? or is it always on a particular layer/sublayer? in other words, how do we identify it? I assume thath there are more than one image.
Once the image is identified, the fix could be something as easy as:
item.name = "//NETMACHINE/YourNewFile.pdf"
Obviously a bit oversimplified, but it is doable.
Why not give it a go?

I noticed that we can scan a file for some noise, clicks, silence, etc. I didn't quite get what I can do with it.
Is it possible to automatically replace each range of silence by a real silence?

No you cannot automatically replace noise below a certain level with "real silence". However you can use the Dynamic Processing effect under Effects/Amplitude and Compression to automatically reduce the level of lower level audio noise. This is called Downward Expansion or Noise Gating. There are a couple of presets named Noise Gate and another called Compander. But you will have to spend some time experimenting and tweaking to optimize the effect with your particular audio file.

Can I have pages automatically replace specific words with the same word in a different font as I type?

In MS Word I was able to set it up so any time I typed the name of the organization I run, Camp Aldersgate, it would automatically change the font to our branded font from our logo. The font appears in the font list, and I can select it and use it. How do I do the same thing in Pages?

You can create a character style with the specific font. Custom styles are only document specific so save a documnet as a tempalte containing this style. Use this template when you need this style.
When you have written you document use Find and replace > Advanced > write the word to find and write it again in the replace field but change the Style button option to the new specific style > press replace

Automatically replace jpgs with tiffs of the same file name.

Is there a way to relink automatically files replacing jpgs with tiffs of the exact same file name?

Many folks had asked for this ability, and so Adobe delivered: InDesign CS4 has a feature called Relink to Folder. It’s an awesome command (it lives in the LInks panel menu) because it basically directs InDesign to some other folder on your computer (or server, or whatever), where your images may live. So you can relink a hundred images from one folder to another quickly.
But even cooler, you can tell InDesign whether to insist on the same file type or use a different one. Here’s the control in the Relink to Folder dialog box:
So, you select one or more images in the Links panel, choose Relink to Folder, tell it which folder to look in, and choose a file extension. The original image doesn’t even have to be “Missing”! In fact, the two images (psd and tiff, in your case) can even live in the same folder.
Sweet, yes?
