Automatic resetting of Number Range

Hi,
I have Created a number range, i want to reset that at the end of the financial year. Can anybody tell me how to do that.

You need to go to transaction SNRO. You need to know the for which object you rae creating the number range. After this, when you want to reset the number range for next financial year say, 2007-2008, you should put a new entry for the year 2007 and assign the from and to range for this year.

Tried posting a customer payment document in the system though number ranges are maintained for the year 2015 the number ranges are not overlapped last year all documents are closed but still the numbers are not been picked automatically in FBN1 kindly help in this issue

Please verify if number ranges are maintained correctly, verify same using transaction OBA7. Also ensure that external assignment is unchecked in FBN1. Share screenshots if possible.

TR TO Number Ranges getting reset automatically

Hi All,
Can someone please help me to understand why the number range of WM objects - TR, TO, PCN, etc is getting reset automatically. Meaning even when I have 10 Trs or TOs created, when I see the current number range in OMLW it shows zero (that is initial).
I am doing configuration in development system & while testing all of a sudden I start getting error messages when posting the material documents in IM.
Initially I was shocked but after than I understood this. But most strangest thing is it is happening again & again. I discussed this ABAP team, but they are not able to understand.

Are you resetting the number range buffers in SM56 after the imports?
You get to the buffers using transaction SM56. Chosse there in the
menu - goto - entries. Enter in the popup the client and the object
number - then <enter>. The system will then display you all current
buffers on all application servers.
In the menu under number range buffer you should reset all the buffers
if they also show ranges that are still below any existing
quants/transfer orders/transfer requirements/etc.

Reset of vendor number range

Is there a way in which we can reset the vendor number range? We have already created vendors but some numbers were skipped. Is there a way in which we can re-use it?

no you cannot reuse the skipped numbers. Do not reset the number range.
You will certainly hit the situation that next number would be a number for which you already have a vendor, then SAP cannot save and not proceed further, until you are chaning the number in the range again.
But you can change the buffer setting, then SAP will not skip numbers in future.
execute SNUM, enter KREDITOR, click change and set buffer to 1

Number range reset to issue in solman 7.1

Hi,
Currently i am working on ChaRM configuration in solman 7.1.
I am trying to reset the number range /TMWFLOW/M object(Maintenance Project) .
Currently showing number range interval
From number : 000000000 To Number : 099999999 Current Number : 79
I tried to reset the Current Number : 0. But it showing error "Please enter From-number greater 0".
So i tried to change the number range From number : 000000001 To Number : 999999999 , again it showing error "Lower limit can only be changed during initial entry"
Due to this issue i am not able to create task list in maintenance project. It showing " Internal Phase
Controller Problem" error.
So please give some idea to reset the number range.

I vaguely remember having this problem during Ramp Up (or a similar problem). Are you on SP3?
This is how I fixed it:
As you have already tried it is not possible to edit the lower
value in the number range from tranx SNRO; but you can edit
(via debugger) the corresponding entry in table NRIV.
( please only do this only if you are absolutely sure what to do ).
The problem can only occur in newly installed systems with
a old version of the note 1576472; But since June, I believe there is a new corrected
version of this note. so ideally this problem should not occur anymore. Which Is why I asked if you are on SP3.

Resetting number ranges through SNRO

Client Copy: Each time a client copy is made, material movement postings cannot be processed until several number ranges are reset and the user gets the message Express document update was terminated. These number ranges can be reset thru SNRO. But identifying what objects need to be reset also difficult. I dont know how to identify what objects need to be reset the number ranges for the problem. This problem occurs each time a client copy is made (The user faces). Does anyone know what each object in that table? Where can I find the descriptions of each object? How do I know what objects need to be reset?

Here is the explanation. You take a backup of your production system at a point of time X. At this time, NRIV table has a value of 12345 for document X. Now you refresh your test system with this backup. So your NRIV table in test system will show that the next number available for document X is 12345. Now you create a new document X in test system. It should get the number 12345 allocated to it.
I don't see why it is dumping in your case, unless they are applying different backups to test system in phases like taking a backup of say number ranges at one time and applying that first to test system. In that case, your test system will have the next number at 12345. Meanwhile documents are being created in production and the next available one in production may be 12349. Now basis takes a backup of the documents without the taking the new NRIV backup and apply that to test system. Now in your test system you have documents 12345, 12346, 12347, 12348 while the number range says the next available number is 12345. That is where the dump happens.
Check with your basis if they are doing it this way. If they take one backup for all and apply it, then there should be any problem.

Resetting MOPZ transaction number range

I have several hundred MOPZ transaction in SOLMAN. Where can I reset the number range or use a different range for a new project. Currently the number range is 60....00 and I would like to change the number range.
Is this possible?

Here you have the options to display intervals, change intervals and get the status (find out the current number).

Each time the client copy is made, the user can run this program and be able to reset the number ranges for all objects automatically. Can anyone help me if I can write a program to achieve this and how?

HI,
Try to use the program RSSNR0I0 for resetting the number range object. This will accept only one number range object.
Otherwise create a new program and call the FM NUMBER_RANGE_INTERVAL_INIT with the number of objects one by one.

Excise number range

Hi All,
I have scenario where Sold to party, bill to party, payer is U.S.A. customer but the ship to party is India.
While creating excise invoice (J1IIN) the system is taking the Official excise number ranges of Export transaction where as it should take that of Domestic transaction.
Kindly let me know where we are going wrong & what needs to be done.

if your requirement is what i said above then go to J1IIN and Select Use Local Number Range...
here system will automatically take domestic number range..........

Can we maintain same number range as last year for commercial invoice for new fiscal year?
if last year Invoice no is 60000001
new fiscal year again 1st no is 60000001
then what will happen to earlier number?

The invoice gets stored in table VBRK
if you reset the number range, then SAP would try to post e.g. invoice 60000001 but as there is already a record in VBRK table the program will dump and not create the invoice. This will happen ongoing until a number is reached that is not in the database.

Number range object missing NRIV and cant activate IOBJ during import

We have a number object RS_OBJNUMG in BW used for many infoobjects. However object doesnt exists in table NRIV and import for infoobjects are failing with error:
Interval 01 of number range RS_OBJNUMG is missing
message R7453
I thought that as when infoobjects are created they get automatically assigned to number range....
Can somebody help?

try transaction rsrv ? >> all elementry tests >> master data >> compare number range and maximum sid >> choose the infoobjects>> execute. press button 'correct error' if any error exists.
also try >> all combined tests >> master data >> check master data for characteristics.

Over lapping number ranges!

Hello all,
When I am doing settlement for a billback document of one company code in SAP, an account doc number is generated.
But when I tried doing the same, an account document number which has already created for another company code is been assigned again. I dont understand how it is happening.
Is there some thing we need to deal with configuration? Are the number ranges overlapping somewhere? Please suggest

Perhaps you may want to check table <b>NRIV</b> (this table stores all of the number ranges and their current value).
In case, someone was resetting the number ranges by accidently or sending incorrect transport.
Number ranges are normally maintained by transaction SNRO.

About Document number ranges

How to defineDocument number ranges begin with character as first position such as A000000001 to A999999999.
In the standard , It is allowed with number only.

How can I do to define the document number with Char at the beginning of the number and automatically with External number ranges ?
For example , when I create the first FI Accounting the doc number is A000000001
and the second doc number will be A000000002 automatically.

Maintenance dialog with Number Range Object

Hello Experts,
i want to create a maintenance dialog with some fields for maintain a db table. In this field i have a id. This i should increment automatically like a Number Range Object. How can i do this.
E.g.
id    name
1    manfred
2    steve
When i will write a new name i only want to write the name not the id. The id should be the 3 in this case automatically. Can anybody say how i can do this?

I would guess you can create a number range object and then use the NUMBER_GET_NEXT FM to get the next number as part of your event (before saving like event 01 or other events as per your requirement) ...

I have created one screen, where this number range should appear initially, then based on action performed if he saves then that number range should be considered and it has to be stored in ztable, if cancelled we should not consider that number range, so what i did is if cancelled i am using this logic to reset the number range,
clear : lv_nrlevel.
select single nrlevel from NRIV into lv_nrlevel     where OBJECT = 'ZTEST' and SUBOBJECT = 'Z22'.
lv_nrlevel = lv_nrlevel - 1.
update nriv set nrlevel = lv_nrlevel where   OBJECT = 'ZTEST' and SUBOBJECT = 'Z22'.
