Automatic scrolling on page load

Quick question...has anybody ever ran into an issue with a
cfm page where the page loads in scrolled down automatically? If
so, how did you handle it? The page that is doing this for me has a
cfform tag and a few includes on it. It's not really that big of a
deal, but it's a pretty annoying. I have compared my code for the
app that is doing this to several other apps I've created and I see
no significant differences. I don't really want to get into
specifics if possible...just prodding around to see if anyone else
has run into this.
Thanks for the help and feedback!

You wouldn't be able to make your browser scroll directly
with CFML, that would be JavaScript, since JavaScript can mainly
handle client-side functionality e.g. browser scrolling, size,
colours etc.
Maybe it's something to do with settings in your browser? Or,
does the page CFFLUSH? Not sure what effect a progressive output of
a large dataset would do to the page - this shouldn't be a problem
though.
Do you have a dodgy conflict with the mouse and your possible
laptop mouse pad? I know that both of mine work at the same time,
which sometimes messes up scrolling.
Has this problem persisted over several sessions, or just
occurred the once?
Mikey.

  • W500 Issues. Cursor movement, Web page aborts, uncontrolled scrolling, random page loading

Dear Reader and / or Correspondent,
I am experiencing issues with my Lenovo laptop computer and my Microsoft Windows Vista operating system. My issues’ are many and they all revolve around the phenomenon of either a ‘floating’ cursor that wanders across the screen; or, ‘jumping’ pages or windows that appear unasked for and uncontrolled.
The cursor moves across the screen even when it is not controlled by the user. It moves like it had a will of its own. Sometime sit refuses to move at all. But if a enough time is allowed it will resume submitting to the user’s direction. On other occasions, it leaps about the screen as though it had a mind of its own. If left on its own it will wander about the surface of my desktop or inside a lit or activated Window.
Coincidently, the windows or the ‘screens’ or the ‘pages’ displayed on the LCD panel of my laptop will randomly change their content or size. If I am surfing the Internet the pages or the screens may float or leap to or transition to a prior screen iteration or to a completely new screen or to a web page that I last visited several week prior all of the
This erratic behavior began after I installed all of the recommended software updates, improvements and security downloads from Microsoft and Lenovo last week. I was acting in response to their instructions to upgrade my software defenses following the release of the STUXNET malware.
Since this phenomenon began my last week I have been unable to use my Lenovo laptop in a professional and relaxed manner. It is constantly forcing me to correct its random maneuvers and unpredictable behavior. It is a great burden and it is very inconvenient.
By the way, this unpredictable and troubling behavior occurs when I am composing correspondence, visiting web sites and playing computer games. Just typing a simple email is a challenge because of this wayward behavior. I never know where the cursor will travel to on my laptop’s screen, when it will move and how often it will occur.
Suffice it for me to say that: “… it’s a real pain in the butt.”
Can any of you recommend a solution to this problem? Have you ever experienced anything like this issue? Is it a software issue? Or, is it a conflict between two or more software applications? Does the problem occur because a file has been damaged? Is a piece of hardware causing this error? Have any of you experienced a similar set of challenges?
Coincidentally with this cursor error I have lost the ability to access my email account. My account exists and the email is in the account. But my laptop will not link to the mail servers (Yahoo and ATT.net). My Outlooklink to my email account does not work either.
My laptop is a LENOVO W500 ThinkPad.
My operating system is a Microsoft Vista Business 64, Service Pack 2 operating system.
My laptop is configured as follows:
    CPU: T9400 @ 2.53 MHz Core2 Duo Centrinos
Video card: ATI FirePro v.5700 with 512 MB
    Memory: DDR3 4GB.
Mice: HID and IBM ThinkPad Ultranav Trackpoint and Touchpad.
My antivirus and security software is as follows:
Antivirus and Internet Security software: AVG v. 11.0
    Malware Defenses: Malwarebytes
    SuperAntiSpyware
    Spybot Search and Destroy
    Spyware Doctor
    Windows Defender
COuld you please advise me what the possible source or cause of thee issues is ?
    Thank you.

    HI, Ed and ~Bee —
Ed, a tiny complement — maybe — to ~Bee's successful solution...
I also use both an Apple Bluetooth and an older cordless LogiTech mouse. I keep them separated — except when I need to use the latter to help "re-connect" my Bluetooth mouse. I've noticed that if I forget and leave them near each other, my cursor begins to "skitter" something awful! Moving the LogiTech mouse a few feet away solves the problem.

  • How can I prevent videos from automatically starting when I load a web site?

Recently web sites have begun not only showing me the first shot of a video, but starting the video automatically when the page loads (or when I scroll down to the part of the page where the video is located). This happens on various news sites (nytimes.com), facebook, and other places. How can I prevent the autostart from happening?
I've got AdBlockPlus and NoScript enabled, although I whitelist many sites in NoScript. Videos used to wait for me to click an arrow in the middle (like a "play" button) to start; some still do, but most don't. (I believe an add-on is responsible for the play button, but I don't recall which one.)
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

The chosen answer is not an answer at all.
The question remains unanswered: How does one prevent unwanted video content from playing automatically on web websites? The problem is most notable on news sites such as ABC News.
It is really, really, really really really, really, really, really really really, really, really, really really really irritating. More irritating, in fact, than when people cut and paste a word a dozen times to emphasize it.
MORE IRRITATING THAN WHJEN PEOPLE USE ALL CAPS OUT OF FRUSTRATION BECAUSE NO ONE SEEMS TO LISTEN OR TO CARE THAT I AM SLOWLY LOSING MY MIND BECAUSE EVERY FLIPPING WEB PAGE IN EXISTENCE PLAYS VIDEAS THAT I DON'T WANT TO WATCH.
More irritating than repeatedly stating the same thing over and over and over and over... wait. I already illustrated that tautology. Never mind.
Does anyone have an answer? If there is no answer, and the powers that be at Firefox have decided that we have no choice, then state so. If those who decide what HTML "is" have decided that individuals have no power to opt out of video content on any given web page, then say so.
If Obama is to blame, then say so. If Bush is to blame, then say so.
But don't say, "the web [page may be using HTML 5 to play video" because THAT is a NON-ANSWER, let alone the "best" answer.

  • Reset .asp form on page load

I produced an .asp fillable form in DWCS5 using ASP Form 2 Email extension. Worked very well. Problem -- ONLY with IE. When I "submit" the form, I get the "success" page. If I hit the back button on the browser, all the form info is still there. I inserted the "pragma" meta into the <head> and it resolved the problem in all browsers EXCEPT IE. Any suggestions as to how I can force the cache to clear on page load? Or, maybe a way to disable the "back" button on the browser when the success page has appeared?

Perhaps you're not phrasing your question correctly, but what
    you're
suggesting is nonsense/not necessary. A form is designed for
    user input.
If you want the form to be submitted when the page loads, the
    user has
no opportunity to enter any input before it's submitted. If
    you don't
want any user input, there is no need to submit a form. You
    simply write
a PHP script that runs automatically when the page loads.
    Forms play no
    role in your scenario.

  • Invoke FileDownloadActionListener on page load

I have list of file file download links and i want to refer this file downloads , So i want to refer this download links in other pages or sites which should directly link
For eg http://mysite.com/context-root/faces/Download .jspx?file=myfile.zip&mode=download , so after loading the page downloa should starts automatically after the page load , whats the best way to do it ?

    Hi,
You can have a client listener at document level (of type load) and queue a server event. In the server method you process the button click (for which you've added af:fileDownloadActionListener).
Check this thread for achieving this in programmatic way.
    invoke af:fileDownloadActionListener programmatically

[BUG FIXED, see "EDIT 2" at the end of my post]
I'm on Firefox 3.6.21, and I got this problem today after a Greasemonkey update (To version 0.9.10, apparently).
Disabling Greasemonkey solved the problem, and re-enabling it reproduced the problem (middle-clicking links to open in new tab did not work, merely highlighted the link).
I should also note that while Greasemonkey was enabled and the bug was affecting me, Ctrl+Click to open links in new tabs was also broken.
    I hope this helps!
EDIT: It appears this is a known incompatibility/conflict bug between current versions of Greasemonkey and Tab Mix Plus. Read more here:
    https://github.com/greasemonkey/greasemonkey/issues/1406
EDIT 2: GREASEMONKEY HAS NOW BEEN UPDATED with a workaround to fix the problem. Go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/versions/ to install the update manually. It hasn't been reviewed by Mozilla yet, so it won't be an automatic update for another day or two. All credit to "cannonfodder" below for noticing this; please mark his post as helpful!

The url is sometingh like this (this is correctly loaded, but it could be longer)

Firefox should have problems with long GET data appended to an URL (long would be over 64k).<br />
If there are problems then it is possible that an extension is the cause of that.

  • Is there a way (config setting/etc) to stop FF from automatically scrolling to the last "remembered" position on the page while navigating back?

I realize this is supposed to be a "feature" but I find it really annoying. Say I view forum topics, click one way down at the bottom. Navigate back, page loads (always takes FF forever these days), so after things begin to populate I scroll down to where I want to go/was/whatever. When after long while FF is finally done loading the page, it auto-scrolls my screen up or down. Aaaaarrrrrrgh! If there is a config value to have it not do that on back (and better yet also reload) it would save me a whole lotta daily aggravation.

No, say I just downloaded the new Spoon album and want to listen to it while I'm looking around in the main music list at other stuff.
I'd drag the new Spoon tracks into my static playlist named "Now Playing"
By static I mean, not a smart playlist.
I could just as well decide to listen to a Genius mix or itunes DJ, or even a smart playlist such as genre=jazz.
Any playlist but the main Music playlist, so I won't have to deal with that annoying jumping around while I'm working with other tracks.

  • Pages load automatically when curser is over link (no click)

hi, i hope this isn't a dumb question...am migrating to a new macbook (was using an ancient one), and am incredibly annoyed by the "jumping" quality of the cursor, especially in internet applications. for example, in hotmail, if the cursor is over a javascript link (hotmail's own, such as "inbox") and then moved, it drags the link across the page (and sometimes attempts unsuccessfully to load java, which sends me to an error page). or if it is over an ad for more than two seconds, with no click from me, it loads that page. or--especially dangerous--if it is inadvertently left over the "send" button in email apps, it sends! yikes--no click from me, unfinished emails, you know how risky this could be! so, am wondering if there is any way to disable this automatic feature. i HATE it!!!! please help.

Firefox 4.0b7 eliminated the Status bar, it is replaced by the Add-on bar. When you mouse-over a hyperlink, the URL appears in the Location bar to the right of the current URL in slightly faint type. The page loading indicator is on the left side of the Tab, but it doesn't show the progress as before, only that the page is loading (or not).
You can restore the functions of the old Statusbar with the '''Status4Evar''' extension. The three Statusbar items are in the Customize Palette. <br />

  • Text editor ribbon actions cause page to automatically scroll (w/o applying formatting)

In a page with web part zones and Content Editor web part(s) for text: if you try to edit text using the ribbon menu, sometimes hovering over an action (without clicking) will automatically scroll to the CE web part without applying formatting (since you
    didn't click yet).
    Consider the scenario:
A content editor web part is added toward the bottom of the page.
Text is added to this (direct in the web part, not via a 'content link')
You highlight some text and go to the Markup Style dropdown...
Everything is fine until you hover over the "Paragraph" markup style, and suddenly the page scrolls to the web part you are editing, and you didn't have a chance to click and apply the "Paragraph" formatting
I have tried testing this with text typed directly into the Content Editor, text pasted in from somewhere else, and text pasted in from somewhere else using "Paste as Plaintext" option in the ribbon.  In each scenario, I get the same results.
Furthermore, I have also tested this in both IE8 and IE9 and get the same results.
This appears to happen randomly with different controls.  I can get it to occur most regularly with trying to apply the Paragraph "Markup Style" but I've also seen this happen with Font Size (any font size).  It's very frustrating since you aren't
able to actually apply the formatting you need because the page jumps before you can click.  Has anyone experienced this before?  Is there any software I should check (Silverlight, java, etc.)?  Any feedback would help.
    Thank you!

  • After applying full scroll bar to the page including header and footer, Text editor ribbon actions cause page to automatically scroll down (while applying formatting)

After applying full scroll bar to the page including header and footer, I have provided content to
the page more than 100 lines and try to format the text from ribbon actions(format text area). On mouse over of font or fore color, the control jumps to the highlighted content area and not able to select the color. The page scrolls down and not able to click

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that after applying full scroll bar to the page including header and footer, Text editor ribbon actions cause page to automatically scroll down (while applying formatting).
I try to apply full scroll bar to the page including header and footer, the ribbon is missing after I scroll down to the web part. And I cannot apply the "Paragraph" markup style to the content.
I recommend to use the SharePoint core styles to preserve the native functionality and GUI.
By design in SharePoint, the ribbon is always at the top. When you select the content, you can apply the "Paragraph" markup style in the ribbon.

  • How to automatically scroll continuously to the next page in adobe muse?

Im building a site which was orginally going to be a one page scroll site but I now what to place the different sections on individual pages to allow easier editing of content. I still want the site look as if it is a continusly scrolling one page site. What I was hoping to do is that when the viewer comes to the end of a section they can continue to scroll down but for it to link to another page, I thought this may be done using anchor points in some way. Any help greatly apprciated! Thanks

    Yes ...
You need what is called a 'Snap Scroll'  widget ... these widgets use the anchor points as a brake to stop right where they are while swiping or scrolling ... it won't continue down the page until your swipe or scroll again ... it will do this for all anchor points on the page ...
MuseThemes do one called exactly that ... worth buying their great set of tools for MUSE ... highly recommended ...
