Automatic search for wi-fi connection

The moment i unlock my cell it asks for searching for wi-fi availability. The messsage appears Search for WLAN. Though i have tried changing settings through Menu>Settings>connection> WLAN but the problem persists. Can we avoid getting this notification again n again.

Go to settings > connectivity > wlan > options > settings > show wlan availability > never, before that remove the wlan widget from the homescreen.
If a reply has solved your problem click Accept as solution button, doing it will help others know the solution. Thanks.

I guess I posted my question as a title but that is my issue.  My airport is connected via wireless yet it keeps searching for a wireless connection, hence I am experiencing bad latency and disconnection issues.  Anyone know a solution?

I have the same problem. And in my case it happens when i transfer "large" files over the WiFi. When i send an MP3 filer over Skype i loose connection. When i transfer updates between my iPhone 5 / iPad 3 and iMac with Mountain Lion i loose connection. When i have a video conference i loose connection. You get the idea.
There is usually like 30 people using their own router on the 2.4 GHz band near by. None on the 5 GHz band which i use. But when my WiFi freezes on ML i can only see my own router. And i am also connected to it. But all my neighbors WiFi routers are now invisble to me. My network stalled.
What i do is that i disconnect my WiFi and then reconnect it again. Thank fixes it. But all my transfers and what not has been dropped. And i have to start all over - and the WiFi will stall again.
While my WiFi is frozen on the iMac with ML i have no problem using the same router on the same 5 GHz band with my iPhone 5 or iPad 3.
Downgrading the AirPort Extreme to 7.6.1 from 7.6.3 helped a bit. Now i only loose connection a few times each day.
It is a software error in ML i am sure of. A driver maybe. But i am suspecting that it is either a speed-sync error or an energy saving error. Like the network card turns of in the middle of a file transfer to save enrgy - maybe.
When i stream movies from my iMac to my Apple TV or  3 there is no problem at all. It is so odd.

  • Firefox randomly does an automatic search for a word I type and redirects to some website. Any ideas why?

I've been having this problem for awhile now. If I type a word while using firefox (in a form, searching a page for that word/phrase, etc.), Firefox will later (at a seemingly random time) do an automatic search for that word/phrase and redirect me to some site (e.g. if I search a page for 'history', Firefox will at a random time, redirect me to, for example, history.com). I have no idea what might be causing this, and it is really annoying when I'm filling out a form online and Firefox randomly goes to some site, interrupting what I was doing at the time.

Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode? <br />

  • Connection failed - automatically search for broken alias?

I recently replaced an old network drive. Now - whenever I launch iPhoto I get an error:
Connection failed The server “NASX6 (AFP)” may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again.
I think I have an alias somewhere in my library that points to the old network drive but I don't know where. I also have over 40,000 photos in hundreds of folders so searching manually doesn't seem to be an option.
Is there a way to run a search for aliases that are broken - or even just aliases in general?
    Thanks,
    Matt

No - that is one (of many) why referenced libraries are strongly discouraged
someone posted a method that they claim will reconnect the aliases - http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2744741&tstart=0
I have no idea what it does or how it works (or if it does for that matter) - as always backup prior to making changes

  • Outlook 2010 search for contacts of connected account

    Hello.
My client has one issue: they can search contacts in their exchange account but the results don't return contacts from an account that she is authorized to (she can see emails from this other account). She doesn't remember what triggered it she just said
it stopped working. The other person has Mac. How do you enable or troubleshoot search shared contacts from connected accounts?
She is using Windows 8 and Outlook 2010 and they have internal exchange server 2007. I have seen this post: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/0403a096-49b1-4a87-a34f-44566c9cf9ab/outlook-2010-searching-a-shared-users-contacts?forum=outlook
where it points me to another site but it doesn't say what the problem could be if you can't search from shared contacts.

    Hi,
Is the user searching within the shared Contacts folder?
Switch to Outlook Online Mode and search, does the issue persist?

  • My iPad2 quit connecting to wireless network. Won't turn on, won't search for networks, no connection

A couple of days ago, my 1 month old iPad2 quit searching for wireless networks, won't recognize my home network, and the wi-fi connection won't stay on. I can switch it on, but it doesn't do anything (won't search for wifi) and as soon as I move away from that window, it switches back to "OFF". Anyone have a fix for that, or is it a problem that can only be resolved with returning the product for repair or replacement?

If no change after resetting network settings on your iPad and/or after restoring your iPad with iTunes as a new iPad or not from the iPad's backup, your iPad has a hardware problem.

  • WRT54G v8 - searching for Channel after connected, then fails, no internet for wireless connection

So I have Time Warner Cable Internet
    WRT54G v8 with the 8.00.2 software
    MAC Address Cloning off
    WEP encryptian with 64-bit
    Tpad1 - Thinkpad z61p
    Tpad2 - Thinkpad T41
    Dell - Crap
All of these worked two weeks ago and I can't remember installing or removing any software on any machines.
I have had a few of the problems that many have had so far and it is hard to narrow down what the true symptoms are so I will start with these.
If I power cycle cable modem, then plug in router, then wire connect in Tpad1 internet works fine. If I try to add the Dell wireless internet most of the time works fine. But when I try to unplug the Tpad1 and it tries to connect wirelessly it can't do it and then the Dell loses connection and the power light blinks and then stops and then blinks again.
I also had the settings open on Tpad1 so that I could see some detail. It looks as if the software on the Tpad1 is trying to find a channel to connect to, then it will connect on the channel I specified in router at 54mbps work for a Google page load then disconnect and start searching for a channel again and the connection drops to 1mbps.
After this if I turn the Tpad1 off and try to connect the Dell wirelessly that won't work, and if I try to connect through wire it does not connect either.  I need to unplug or reset the router.
    Possible Solutions:
    1. re-flash router - will try
    2. Change wireless settings such as beacon interval to 50, framentation threshold to 2306 or 2304, RTS Threshold to 2307 or 2304
    3. Using CD to install the internet connection

So this is still an issue.
I have come to find that if I am only connecting my Tpad1 to the wireless router it eventually works. It connects and then when I try to access a web page it starts looking for the channel again and then finds it again. Once this happens three or four times (looking for the channel) it seems to get a solid connection and no longer looks for another channel.
After this I think it is okay for the Dell to connect but I can't 100% remember now.
We just have avoided using our computers at the same time on the wireless network together.
also.... when the Dell is connected and then Tpad1 tries to connect, Tpad1 kicks Dell off and Tpad1 can't connect with a solid connection; and after three or four times of re-connecting for both computers the wireless network becomes no longer visible, almost like the router locks up. So a reset of the router and the Dell can connect fine as long as the Tpad1 does not even try.
This post is being done by Tpad1 connected wirelessly because I am working from home and no one else is trying to get on.

  • 10.1.3: How to disable ANOYING automatic search for updates?

We are experiencing very anoying (meant-to-be-a-feature) performance problems when JDev is automatically looking for updates. It happens periodically (not sure... maybe every 30 min?). Is there a way to disable this?? Please please help.

The automatic Check for Updates only occurs on startup of JDev. Apart from that, the only reason JDev would check for updates is if you manuall select Tools > Check for Updates. So, it's likely the that periodic "check" that you see is coming from somewhere else. Have you installed any extensions?
The J-Dide.cfu.autoskip=true would be set as a command line argument when running the product, as in:
    jdevw.exe -J-Dide.cfu.autoskip=true

  • Organizer. not able to turn off "automatic search for missing files"

Organizer starts searching for missing files. files that i have deleted, and the programme just keep on forever searching for those already deleted files. When i try to turn off that function, the organizer just stops. Running the program on Imac 2010.

That's the thing with the Elements Organizer - once you start managing your media in it you must also use it for all subsequent maintenance so that it retains integrity.
To try and resolve the Find> all Missing Files crash problem go to File> Manage Catalogs and Repair your current catalog. Follow that with an Optimize. See if you can now find them without the crash.
If Find> All Missing Files is still causing a crash, you could try File> Reconnect> All Missing Files. As that searches your entire hard disk for one image at a time, and will take a very long time if you did a lot of deletions with your EasyDuplicateFinder program, wait for it to finish examining your catalog then cancel the attempt to find each image. Now in your organizer each of the missing files thumbnails will have a question mark at top left - you can then delete these from the catalog. After you've done quite a few retry Find> All Missing Files again to see if it will run without crashing.

  • Automatic search for new songs on harddrive

I have other mp3 songs on my computer that are not in my i tunes library, i want to add about 300 other songs but the only way i have found that i can do that is to add the songs 3 at a time. how can i make itunes search for existing mp3s on my hard drive like it did when i first installed itunes

The Finder can do this for you.
Just open a Finder window and hit Command-F
Then, in the search bar set the 'Kind' to 'Movie'.
Done. It'll find all the movie files on your disk which you can then organize as you see fit.

  • Support: Searching for PC audio connection (TV:32W2333)

    HI,
I just bought a 32W2333 LED TV and I was trying to connect my computer.
I need to do it with a monitor PC cable and I bougth the TV because I saw it has a PC connection slot (RGB/PC connector in the back of the TV).
But I was unable to find the sound input for that connection slot. Is there any way for the TV to receive the signal of the PC and show the monitor of the PC at same time?.
    Thanks.
    Javier.

    >javiercuest says "I just bought a 32W2333 LED TV and I was trying to connect my computer.
    >I need to do it with a monitor PC cable",
My question is, why MUST you use a "monitor PC cable"??
Is there a reason you cannot use an HDMI cable, as has been discussed in other threads in this forum??

  • I recently downloaded i tunes for windows with xp service pack 3.  I chose the automatic search for music on my computer to import into itunes.  However, after completion all the tracks were copied twice?  What's up with that?

How would I go about deleting all the duplicate tracks that were imported?

The reason I would think your iTunes stopped working is because your system is no longer compatible as iTunes requires Windows XP SP 2 in order to work properly.
If you want to back up your iTunes content then I would suggest opening My Documents>My Music and choose the whole iTunes folder and move it to an external drive. That is normally where all your content is saved, unless you didn't have 'Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library' selected in iTunes then you might want to use the whole My Music folder as your backup.

  • N95 - Turn off the search for available wireless n...

    Hi,
This is a strange problem - I think...
My N95, will at randon times, and not very often, automatically search for and detect wireless networks in my area, which will then prompt me to select one.
I have turned the Wireless LAN availability setting to never search for Wireless LANS - which was previously set to scan for networks every 5 minutes. (Under Tools-settings-connection-wireless LAN)
The bizarre thing about it all, is that it will often automatically search and detect wireless networks when my phone has been on charge for a long period of time, and not normally at any other period of time.
Does anybody know if there is a further setting somewhere that I could change? or perhaps point me in the right direction, but I do realise that this could well be a unique problem.
Any help on this would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks.Message Edited by t2303 on 07-May-200710:58 PM

Hello. I have a wireless network at home and have connected my N95 in the past.
I did too turned off the ability to search for Wireless Networks from the STAND BY SCREEN but I have noticed that an icon with 4 squares appeared. I was puzzled and went through the manual to check what it meant. It meant that there were available wireless networks in the area close by, obviously my home network.
Note: since my N95 connects automatically to my network it never asked for a password or connection.
If the above sounds like your problem try the following:
Press the menu button and navigate to
Tools -> Settings -> Connection -> Wirelesl LAN
and set "Show WLAN availability" to NEVER.
This helped me on saving on battery.
I hope this helps. Good luck.
