Automatic Sending of a File
Hi all,
First, sorry if this is not the right place. If not, please let me know and I'll move it.
There is something I'd REALLY REALLY REALLY like to be able to do, and that I have not found an elegant method of handling with Mac OS X (or any Mac OS for that matter) over the years.
I would like to be able to right-click/command-click on a file and have an option to "send by email". I have figured out that you can right-click and choose "open with" and then have to go through the entire process of selecting "applications", and then "mail", but that's really not very convenient.
There are just so many times when there is a file on my desktop that I need to be able to send quickly, and I'd like to be able to right mouse click and send it...period...end of story.
Any of you out there discovered a way to do this?

Two additional ideas for you:
1. If you have StuffIt Deluxe, it adds a Contextual Menu item that allows you to mail a file, with or without compressing the file.
2. See Send As Email CMM - 1.1. I've neither used nor tested it, but it's free and easy to undo if problematic.

Why Aperture doesn't send the RAW file to Photoshop
I've seen the complaint about Aperture not passing the original RAW file to Photoshop in several places in this forum. I think I have a reason for why Aperture doesn't work this way.
The reason has to do with the 1st law of digital RAW photography. "Never, ever, overwrite the original RAW data from a camera's RAW format file."
Because of the above rule, both Aperture and Photoshop do not actually work on the original RAW file. They transform the RAW image data into a usable image using user specified settings (which may be the camera's default setting for that image). The original RAW file is left untouched.
When you open a RAW file in Photoshop and try to save it, you'll be prompted for a new file name. You wouldn't want to overwrite the original RAW file by writing the edited image data back to it.
When you edit an Aperture RAW file using Photoshop as the external editor, Aperture first creates a TIFF or PSD version image file in its library and then passes that file name to Photoshop. Photoshop opens the TIFF or PSD file and directly edits it. Since this version file is already in Aperture's library, when Photoshop is finished editing it, Aperture automatically sees the edited file because its already in the library.
If Aperture were to send the RAW file name to Photoshop, Photoshop would open the RAW file and create a new PSD file. When it came time to save your edits, where would you save it. In order to get it back into Aperture's library, you would need some form of Photoshop to Aperture communication so that Photoshop would know where to save the edited file and Aperture would know to add it to the library. This would require collaboration between both Adobe and Apple and doesn't seem likely.
I have a couple of ideas someone can try. These are only ideas and completely untested. I'd do it myself but I don't own Aperture (see my computer info below for the reason).
1. Create two folders with automator actions. You export your RAW files from Aperture to a "Photoshop-IN" folder. Any new RAW image found in this folder will be automatically opened in Photoshop by the Automator action. Then you save the edited Photoshop file into a 2nd folder "Aperture-IN". Another Automator action imports this into Aperture.
2. In iPhoto, if you try to edit a RAW image with an external editor, iPhoto creates an intermediate image file (JPEG I think) which it passes to Photoshop. But, if you drag the original RAW image thumbnail from iPhotos library window to the Photoshop icon in the dock, the original RAW image file is passed to Photoshop. You only have the problem of getting the saved Photoshop file back into iPhoto's library. Maybe this same thing would work in Aperture by dragging the Master image to the Photoshop icon in the dock.

What I want is for Aperture to send the raw over to photoshop when I select "open in external editor", and then follow the current workflow (I do my edits, hit save, and a second master is added to Aperture's db.)
It's totally possible for them to do this, and it wouldn't break anything in the system, or the philosophy. Of course it's a workaround that wouldn't be necessary if Aperture's converter were up to snuff. But it isn't, and I bet it would be easier to implement the workaround than to fix the fundamental defects in the converter itself. -
Sending a pdf file using submit without client email program.
I need a solution on sending a completed pdf file to my email address without the clients email program poping up. My website has a small pdf file that users can complete and return to me. I get many complaints from users stating it requires them to save the file first and then they are unsure were it saved or how to attach it to a email. To make this easer on my users I want the submit button to simply send me the file using some method from my website. I use iPage to host the site now. I was looking for a script to call or some way to do this automaticly. I was woundering if urs/sbin/sendmail might work. I am simply at a loss on this.
Using a sendmail type script will send you the form data in the body of an email message, if the form is set up to submit as "HTML". You can create your own script to attach the form data as an FDF, XFDF, or even the complete PDF, but it's unlikely your provider supplies a script for this, so you'd have some custom programming to do.
Sending just the form data also avoids the licensing restrictions for Reader-enabled forms. You can easily import an FDF or XFDF into a blank form to create a filled-in form. -
Workflow- sending a html file in a mail(outlook)

Submit by Email Without Automatically Sending Email???
I'm trying to distribute a form that will "submit by email" when the user is finished filling it out. Then when our admin receives the form, have it automatically ask what dataset to add it to.
This works fine, EXCEPT when the user submits the form, it automatically sends the email right away - straight to the Outlook "Outbox" folder. I want it to create the email (with PDF attachment), but wait for the user to hit send. This is so they can attach additional files to the email or add comments to the body of the email.
Right now this doesn't seem possible. I can send it without using the "Distribute Form" option in the menus, but then the popup asking what dataset to add it to doesn't appear.

Both of these methods seem to work the same way. I haven't tried an "HTTP Submit" button method yet, but I would presume it to work the same also.<br /><br />Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

How to send generated Spool file through e-mail
Hi,
We have a ABAP report which generates a spool file. Now there is a requirement to send this spool file to our clients external mail boxes.
Also we would like to automate this so that whenever a spool file is generated, the system should automatically send it as an attachment to user mail inboxes.

i put in a cd and copy the songs on it to my library. they take a minute or two to download. then i try to autofill my ipod shuffle, and i keep getting the message that it is "unable to send or receive files" what do i do??? please help me!!!
if your using an audio cd...i assume itunes would automatically open the cd and a box would appear before each song...choose the songs youd like to convert by checking the box..after selecting songs use the right click button and a part of editing your songs will be displayed...and click on to "convert to AAC"

Is it possible to schedule a room by sending an ics file?
I'm working on a third party service that creates events and invites a group of participants / rooms to attend those events. I do this by creating .ics files (iCalendar file format) and mailing them (from an outside account) to the participants. This works
great for regular attendees. Exchange automatically parses the .ics file and shows the attendee a nicely rendered invite that integrates with the recipient's calendar.
The problem is, I have not been able to use this technique to schedule a room. If I send an invitation to the room's address, the room does not book itself. I've tried everything I can think of. The room is configured to auto-accept invites, and I've looked
for permission settings that might influence this feature. I'm starting to think that the behavior I want (scheduling a room in Exchange through an externally generated ics file) is not supported. Has anyone else tried this and been successful? Does anyone
know for sure whether this is supported?
FYI I'm testing with Office 365.Have you set the ProcessExternalMeetingMessages to True using Set-CalendarProcessing ? eg see

Automatically send pictures from camera to email?
Hello,
Is there any way/hack/trick/app to automatically send new images from my camera?
Ideally, I would take a photo, then the picture would automatically be sent to an email, without an additional click.
Right now, I have to click "send as email" and then start typing my email address. This takes too long, especially when I have to do it for every single photo.
Any thoughts?

Pearl 8130On the Gmail mobile site, there appears to be no option to attach a file.
However! If you save your email as a draft before sending it, scroll to the bottom of the pane and you should see a link that takes you to the desktop version of Gmail.
Reopen your email and you can attach your file and send it.

Automatic send e-mail according to the expire data attribute in database
Hi, everyone. I am now working a web library system, and I use MS Access as the database to store the data.
Now I want to build a function for the system, which can automatic send loan expire message to the borrower when the expire data is met.
I have search several days for this function and all the information is about other program language. I really have not any idea about this function. CAN Java archive the function.

I just downloaded javamail, and installed it. I tested the javamail with the demo file follow the readme.txt, I don't know what is the mailserver is for MSN in the step 5 (java msgshow -T imap -H <mailserver> -U <username> -P <passwd> -f INBOX 5), and the '<' and '>' should be there? Could you give me an example. Thanks!

Safari will automatically send me back to the previous page
Every time when I click a link on any website, it will automatically send me back to the page where I just was; or if I'm at the homepage and enter a website, it brings me back to the homepage. It only happens once per page but it is very frustrating having to do everything twice.

Empty the Safari Cache from the Safari Menu Bar, Safari/Empty Cache
Relaunch Safari.
If you still have problems, go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
If third party add ons aren't the issue, try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file.
Go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari and see if that makes a difference. If not, move the .plist file back to the Preferences folder. If Safari functions as it should, move that .plist file to the Trash.
One more thing. Please click My Settings on the right side of this page and tell us which Mac you are using and which Mac OS X. Thanks!

How do you stop automatic unzipping of .zip files
When downloading a flashable .zip file Yosemite automatically unzips it. How do you prevent this?
We've been experimenting with this today.
You can avoid getting the file by turning off the autodownload in the IM settings. The sender sees the file transfer, but it's not going to your machine. To get the file, you then need to click on it. It IS still going to Skype's servers though waiting to be retrieved and that is a worry.
A link is generated to retrieve the file. The link is sharable with anyone who is a skype subscriber.
Are these files ever deleted?
This makes me worry about the security all files sent via skype since it is the way-station and holder of these files. For instance, is it possible for a computer to check the randomly assigned numbers until they find all sorts of things?

Since updating my iPhone 5 to ios7 my phone often fails to send iMessages. It won't automatically send as an SMS despite this being switched on in the settings section. This is also happening wig my partners phone and my mothers phone. I want to report it to Apple but I don't know how.
Firstly, is there a way this can be reported to Apple so they can fix the bug? And secondly, does anyone have any suggestions in relation to fixing this problem?

To do this, join the Mac Developer Program—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that.
Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report. You get a response and a follow-up number thus starting a dialog with engineering. -
Mail automatically sending attachments - ON ITS OWN!
So, When I write an email and send an attachment, everything is fine. Then, when I send the next email, with NO attachment, email sometimes takes the last attachment I sent and sends it. It ONLY does this AFTER I hit the "send" button, so.... I have no way of telling if THIS time is going to be the time that mail automatically sends an attachment.
This has been very embarrassing because two times today clients of mine have received zips of files, including source files, that belong to ANOTHER CLIENT! Imagine being afraid to send an email because you are not sure if mail is going to attach a random attachment!!
Please help! --> if it is of any help, when I drag an attachment to my mail icon in the dock, it opens two new email messages, but might be unrelated. Please help me understand what is going on!

What, you want wisdom as well as solutions? Not that I have either to offer, only a couple of suggestions.
If you are using that second new mail message that opens, don't- delete it and start a real new one. I would also suggest not dragging a file to the Mail icon as there are known issues with this, and you might be experiencing a strange side effect. Before clicking send, disconnect from the network. Your outgoing message will land up in the Outbox where you can check it and if necessary remove any attachments. When you reconnect the message will go.
