Automatic space after numbered list items

Is it possible to have pages automatically add a space after the number and dot with numbered lists? For example, have it automatically add the text "II. " as opposed to "II.". It would save me having to keep typing the space. Thanks

OK, I figured it out. For anybody else with the same question, you click inspector (on the toolbar), the "text" tab, then the "list" tab. You have to change it for each number indent, but change the text indent. I found that something between .25" and .3" is good for me.

  • Add space after bullet list

    I would like a way to control the space AFTER a list of bullet points ends. The last item in a bullet list, in other words, before the text that follows. I can control spacing between paragraphs easily, but with bullet list, each item has a paragraph return.
    I could manually add additional spacing on the last item in a bullet list. But it'd be cool if I could have that in my Styles. Maybe it's a feature request.
    As a web developer, I know in HTML I can control spacing before and after a list (ul).

    You need to have a special paragragh style for the list. There is a default bullet list style in Pages 4. Use it for the list.
    For the Body text, use that style for the body text, set both line spacing before and after. Like you say you can't set it for the bullet list as all lines in the list will get more spacing.
    Or do what I usually do I add a paragraph break before and after the bullet list.

  • Can I insert a space after numbered items in a list without losing auto-renumbering?

    I'm a new Pages user trying to adapt Harvard template for my needs. Can I somehow make a space after each item in a numbered list without losing auto-re-numbering? If paragraph space is used, program does not seem to recognize next number as part of the same list. Again, tried to check for previous question/answer on this but I'm not clear on how to search forum before submiting a question. Thanks Danie

    Hi Danie,
    Use a line feed (shift-return) instead of a paragraph break (return).

  • Automatically upload documents to list items in Sharepoint Online

    Hi
    I need to upload pdf documents to a list (not
    a document library, this is not an option) on SharepointOnline (Office365).
    In practice, whenever a document is "sent" or "uploaded" to the list, a new list item would be created automatically and the document would be attached to the list item automatically.
     At the moment, we are doing this manually but this is not practical with 1,000s of documents.
    Any help would be appreciated. The community365 people were unable to help and redirected me here.
    Many thanks,
    AK

    For those who may be interested, I found a workaround that does the trick.
    Rather than uploading the actual documents to each list item, I upload the documents to a document library and then include hyperlinks to the locations of the documents in the document library.
    This can be achieved by:
    (i) creating a new workflow in Sharepoint Designer;  the workflow must be attached to the document library where the documents are located AND must be set to launch automatically when a new item is created in the library (see the parameters of the workflow);
     and
    (ii) in the workflow, choose the action "create a new item"; click on "this list" and choose your destination list; choose a list column where the hyperlink will appear and click on "add" to add a field directing towards that column; choose "Current Element/Encoded
    Absolute URL" as the source of data. And bam! it works. A life saver.
    Cheers

  • Referenceing numbered list items

    Hi all,
    I have been tasked to make a very long numbered list and I'm using Pages '09. The list may ultimately have 150 to 200 numbered items. I would like to be able to reference a list item from another list item.
    25. Started something.
    50. Finished something. (See #25)
    Then if the numbering changes, I want the reference to auto-update. Is this possible in Pages '09? I also have OpenOffice 3 installed if that can do it and Pages can't.
    Googling keywords like "pages", "lists", "numbers", etc. is practically useless. I wish the iWork product names were more distinct.
    Thanks & Enjoy life!

    Best you can do is Bookmark it.

  • Fire event receiver after update list items with PowerShell

    Hi,
    I have a list with a event receiver attached to it. Also I have a PowerShell script which updates some elements. I noticed that the Event Receiver is not firing after the PowerShell script runs. Is there any way to make it happen?
    Thanks anyway!

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that the event receiver not fire after you update the item elements.
    I suggest you can create a simple event receiver and then test if the event receiver fire after PowerShell run.
    Here is my PowerShell script:
    $spWeb = Get-SPWeb -Identity http://sp2013sps/sites/test
    $spList = $spWeb.Lists["Documents"]
    $spItem = $spList.GetItemById(14)
    $spItem["Title"] = "Test111"
    $spItem.Update()
    Here is my event receiver code:
    public override void ItemUpdated(SPItemEventProperties properties)
    base.ItemUpdated(properties);
    Console.WriteLine("event receiver has been done");
    After the PowerShell run, it will come out the result:
    It means the event receiver has been fired.
    Here is a detailed article for your reference:

  • The Master Frame has no spaces after it's items

    Hi
    i have master Frame with it's own items stand aside from any frames.
    Below it Detail Frame with it's own items.
    The problem is:
    There is now spaces below the Master Frame items just on the edge of it's items .
    The Master Frame is shrinked although in the design time there is enough spaces but run time on the screen or on the print priviewer there isn't any spaces displayed.
    Pls tell me How to handel this problem.
    Regards,
    Abdetu..

    The Vertical Elasticity property for your main repeating frame will be Expand or Variable,
    so design time space will not matter.
    You can set the Vert. Space Between Frames as desired.
    Hope this helps.

  • Inserting ordered/unordered list items breakes the document design

    Hi,
    I use JEditorPane to edit HTML document. When I insert ordered/unordered list items, it breakes the design of the document. For example, I have next peace of the document:
    <center>
    This text is centered.
    One more line...
    </center>
    after inserting list item between text lines, document looks like :
    <center>
    This text is centered.
    </center>
    <ol>
    <li>
    </li>
    </ol>
    <center>
    One more line...
    </center>
    Note, that center tag is closed before list item and opened after it.
    Is it possible that inserted list items will save the original design of text around ?
    Thanks.
    .Vlad.

    Change the Leading in the Character Pallet to a smaller number, and increase the Space After in the Paragraph Pallet.
    The space between lines in the same paragraph is the leading, the space between paragraphs is not leading, and trying to achieve it with the leading field always creates more problems than it solves.

  • How to populate List Item from the table in a form builder

    I want to know how to populate the List Item (pop up menu and combo box) from a table.
    Supposing I have a table Customer(cust_id,cust_name)
    and now I want to populate it in such a manner that I can update the data back to the database and also access the list on the form.

    This is the method i am using to populate a list.
    1- First of all you need to create a non-database list item for customer_name.
    2-create this procedure
    PROCEDURE populate_list_with_query
    --Populates the given list item with the specified query.
    (p_list_item in VARCHAR2
    ,p_query in VARCHAR2)
    IS
    /* Name the record group after the list item (no
    block prefix). */
    cst_rg_name constant VARCHAR2(30) :=
    GET_ITEM_PROPERTY(p_list_item,item_name);
    v_rg_id RECORDGROUP;
    BEGIN
    v_rg_id := FIND_GROUP(cst_rg_name);
    IF ID_NULL(v_rg_id) THEN
    v_rg_id := CREATE_GROUP_FROM_QUERY(cst_rg_name,p_query);
    END IF;
    IF POPULATE_GROUP(v_rg_id) = 0 THEN
    POPULATE_LIST(p_list_item,v_rg_id);
    /* Force display of first list element label
    in the list item. */
    COPY(GET_LIST_ELEMENT_VALUE(p_list_item,1),p_list_item);
    END IF;
    END populate_list_with_query;
    3- Create When-Create-Record on the block level and write this code
    BEGIN
    POPULATE_LIST_WITH_QUERY('bk1.customer_name',
    'SELECT customer_name, to_char(customer_id) FROM customer');
    END;
    In this example, the customer name is the (visible) list label and the customer ID is the (actual) list value
    i hope this will solve your problem ...

  • Square brackets around list items

    I'm seeing a square bracket after each list item that is displayed inline-block. How can I remove this? It's only happening in Firefox.

    Could you provide the URL to the site? Is this your website? Can you try safe mode:
    '''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).

  • Create a list style with unique space after the last list item?

    I should start by saying that I'm a web designer and therefore extremely used to using CSS for type setting to the point that I now become frustrated when going back to the print world
    So here's what I'm trying to achieve:
    - I want to create a list style for bullet lists
    - I want there to be 3pt space after and space before paragraph breaks
    - I want there to be 9pt space after the entire list (or last list item)
    I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this short of overriding the space after amount on the last item each time I use my style.

    Hi supportneeder
    Welcome to the forum.
    Try this link:
    http://www.freeforum101.com/iworktipsntrick/viewtopic.php?t=179&mforum=iworktips ntrick
    Pay attention to how +"styles work by example"+. Form up the list levels the way you want them and then select them to make the list style.
    Personally I can't help remarking on the obtuse behavior of programmers that they manufactured all the problems on the internet and only now, more than a decade later, patch together "solutions" they struggle to implement due to the legacy of all the awful standards we never needed to have in the first place.
    Peter
    btw The last list item is always a problem in typesetting. Usually you deal with it by having a particular style for that or the paragraph afte,r all of which can take multiple forms.

  • Acrobat v9 JavaScript Alert Box - any way to add space or line break after each array item?

    I have a Document level Javascript used to identify blank required fields and is triggered on document actions, Print and Save. The script identifies the blank required fields, counts them, and outputs to an Alert box indicating the number of required fields blank and lists the fields by tooltip name. The script identifies the required fields by an asterisk at the end of each tool tip.
    My question is there any way to add a space or a line break after the comma for each listed item?
    Here is an image of the output where the listed items are all run together.
    Here is the code:
    function validateFields()
    //a counter for the number of empty fields
    var flg = 0
    // count all the form fields
    var n = this.numFields
    //create an array to contain the names of required fields
    //if they are determined to be empty
    var fArr = new Array();
    //loop through all fields and check for those that are required
    // all fields that have a '*' in their tool tip are required
    for(var i = 0;i<n;i++){
    var fn = this.getNthFieldName(i);
    var f = this.getField(fn);
    //tool tip is the fields\'s 'userName' property;
    var tt = f.userName
    //test for the '*';
    if(tt.indexOf('*')!=-1 && f.value == f.defaultValue){
    //increment the counter of empty fields;
    flg++;
    //add the fields userName (tool tip) to the list of empty field names;
    fArr[fArr.length] = tt;
    //now display a message if there are empty fields
    if(flg>0){
    app.alert('There are '+flg+' fields that require a value\n\n'+ fArr,3)
    else{
    this.print();

    Thank you! The alert box array items now have a line break, image below.  You know you have made my day and possibly several weeks as now I have more understanding about how to apply everything I have been reading in the Acrobat JavaScript guide and of course as soon as you pointed out using a "join", that triggered some old-days of working with Access and SQL queries.
    I will work on the required attribute to see how I might reference it.  I am laughing at myself now - good luck to me in figuring it out as I was very stick-in-the-mud regarding the line break issue.
    Thanks again and here is the result of the updated code:

  • Automatic Double-Space after inserting a character (eg. &)

    Hi,
    I haven't had this problem previously, but recently whenever I type a bracket or 'and' symbol it automatically inserts a space after the space. For example...
    "everything was great (Decker,2004)." as opposed to "everything was great (Decker,2004)."
    How do I turn off this automatic double-space? I've looked everywhere, can't figure it out.
    Thanks

    Hi Laura,
    The forum is working against you as well. The forums software strips out extra spaces in the display of a post, although it shows them in the compose window, which let me locate them. I replaced the pair with sticky spaces, so the line above (and below without the quotation formatting) should appear more as you typed it.
    "everything was great  (Decker,2004)." as opposed to "everything was great (Decker,2004)."
    The first place to check is Pages > Preferences > Auto Correction. Someone may have added this to the auto correction list. Unlikely, due to the number of steps that would have to be taken, but possible.

  • CS6 doesn't reordered numbered lists after moving a frame

    This is something that has long bugged me.
    I have a numbered list which spans frames. Lets say that there are 10 items
    Items 1-7 are on the first page and 8-10 on the next page.
    When i cut number 8 and paste it before number 4, it is still number 8.
    The order then becomes
    8
    4
    5
    6
    7
    ---next page
    9
    10
    If i restart the numbering it becomes
    1
    4
    5
    6
    7
    ---next page
    2
    3
    Is there a way to make Indesign reorder the numbers. It seems like there is something there that knows the order that frames were placed and is keeping that order.
    Any idea? (Image below to show the ordering issue.)

    I have found two solutions, but not really what i was after.
    I can just put all the text in the one frame and then break apart and link the frames.
    Or, more unusually, if (using the example), I cut and then paste 4, 5, 6 & 7, 8 become 4 and the rest order correctly.
    Is this really the way Indesign handles numbered lists?

  • Numbered lists in text boxes automatically updating

    I have seperate text boxes that are involved in numbered lists, and I want to be able to reorder the text boxes so that they automatically update the numbers within them. How do I do this?! As you can see when I move the text box containing 2.0 numbered list, the following numbers do not update. How do I create this updating numbered list in seperate text boxes?

    If you mean the text function in the drawing toolbar, it isn't possible.
    You should use frames.
