Automatic start of AS Java

Hi all,
is it possible to start an AS Java from command line on a Windows operating system just like the startsap.exe command for an AS ABAP? I need this to start the server after a nightly complete backup automatically.

You can use 'sapcontrol' for ths.
'sapcontrol' uses the Web Service interface of 'sapstartsrv'
You'll find sapcontrol in the <central_instance>/exe directory and if you call sapcontrol from the command line without any arguments you get more information
It's a command line tool to control all fuctions provided by 'sapstartsrv'and these commands can be assembled in scripts

First of all, check that Messages is closed when you turn off your MacBook. This is so important because, by default, OS X will reopen all opened apps the next time you start your Mac.
Apart from that, when you go to  > Shut Down, or  > Restart, in the window you see to restart or turn off your MacBook, unmark "Reopen windows when logging back in". This will avoid that your Mac opens all opened apps the next time you start the MacBook, so Messages won't start automatically at startup

SAP system doesn't automatically start after restart (but manual start ok)

We've got a new production line of SAP EP 7.0 systems, which have CI on HP-UX and DIs on windows. The version is NW2004s SPS09.
What we see is that after a restart of the windows servers (usually because of windows patching), the SAP system doesn't automatically start up. It doesn't start up if I restart the SAP<SID>_<instance> service either.
However, I've got no problem starting the system with the MMC.
Any idea what I am missing here? is it as simple as a profile parameter ?
As far as I can see the profile used seem ok.
After a restart of the windows server the following files have log entries in the c:\usr\sap\<SID>\J<instance>\work folder

The windows event log have the application events
(first)SAP Service SAP<SID>_<instance> successfully started.
(at the same time)
Failed to update service environment from user (STATOIL-NET\<sid>adm) environment. [ntservmgr.cpp 201]
(note that this doesn't happen for all systems which have this problem, for other there is no entry like this)
I see no failed login attemps in the security event log, but see the that a login is performed for SAPService<SID>.
Since it also fails to automatically startup when I restart the service, I am able to use filemon to see what happens at a file level. Here I see that it can access the shared file system without any problems, and can read the profile and everything.
MOM is running on the server and gets some Access denied errors since it doesn't have access to the shared file system, but I don't think that matters.

hi we are using sap bw 3.5 . database is oracle 9i
i applied a kernel patch and when i tried to start the services . there was no problem with the oracle services and saposcol but the service sap<sid>_nr did not start .
when i went to check the error in work folder ..
it say " SapSSLinit failed => https support disabled .
then i tried to start sap from cmd pmt . din`t work .
is there a way to statrt this ...

When I insert an audio CD into my iMac, it automatically starts playing

When I insert an audio CD into my iMac, it automatically starts playing, and I can't figure out why, nor how to stop this behavior. When I click in the upper right corner of my screen where it says "Finder", it shows the Finder as the only application running, and yet SOMETHING must be causing the CD to play. If it is an Extension that is being loaded, is it possible to terminate the Extensions one by one without restarting the computer to see which one is playing the CD?
Is the OS9.1 operating system supposed to automatically play audio CD's when they are inserted into the iMac? Or could it be an Extension that is doing it?And if so, why is no means provided to actually CONTROL the playing of the CD (such as a control panel with PLAY, STOP, SKIP, etc. buttons)?
On a PC, I can press Control/Alt/Delete to bring up the "Task List" that will show me ALL applications and processes currently running, and then terminate apps and processes one by one without having to restart the computer to see which one is playing the CD. Is there an equivalent way to display this information on an iMac that will show me which application or process or extension might be causing the audio CD to play, and allow me to terminate them one by one without restarting the computer until I can see which one is the "problem"?

Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
Finder uses QuickTime in the background to do that, hence no specific app is shown in the Application menu (the far right item in the main menu bar) in addition to Finder.
To unset automatic playing of CDs (and DVDs) -
Open the QuickTime Settings control panel (Apple menu > Control Panels > QuickTime Settings).
In that control panel, select AutoPlay from the pulldown menu in the control panel. Uncheck both the items shown in the new window. Close the control panel.
No restart should be needed in order to make the change effective.
Doing this will also guard against the (now ancient) AutoPlay virus, which could still be lurking somewhere on the net.

Any application that is open when you shut down will re-open when you restart unless you deselect this when shutting down/restarting:
Also check System Preferences>Users & Groups>Login items tab and make sure there's nothing listed there that you don't want launched.

Hmm.. Okay I've done a bit more digging and tried the following two things before the last restart.. Not sure which one actually worked but give these a shot (one at a time) and let us know which is the ''actual'' solution! :)
1. Open Safari -> Preferences -> General
- change "Default Web Browser" to Safari
- Close all applications
- Relaunch Safari and change default browser back to Firefox.
2. Remove the check from "Reopen windows when logging in" in the logout dialog and logout of the computer..
I suspect step 2 is actually the proper solution, but I did both so, hopefully one of them works for everyone else!

Finally sorted the same problem on both my pcs. If you are a member of Facebook, then the problem likely is because of that.What I did to spot Spotify automatically starting up. 1. Log into Facebook, and then into Account.2. Go to Account Settings (on Facebook).3. From there go to Apps (on left side of screen).4. Find Spotify in the list of Apps that shows up and press the "x" button to the right of "Edit".5. Log out of Facebook.6. Log out of your PC.7. Restart the PC.8. Spotify will still appear asking you to log in with Facebook or Spotify password.9. Log in to Spotify with your Facebook password.10. On Spotify - go to Edit (top left of Spotify screen).11. Scroll down to Preferences.12. Scroll ALL the way down to the bottom, and IF it says Log on Automatically, click the "Don't Open Automatically".13. Log out of Spotify.14. Log out of your PC.15. When you switch your pc on again - the problem hopefully, as in my case, was resolved. I have had this problem with other things starting automatically in the past, and it has always been because it is an "App" appearing in my Facebook list. Everytime I start my PC, my I tunes starts automatically. I close it an it automatically starts again 5-6 minutes later. It happens when my IPhone is not connected. The problem began immediately after I updated to the new IPhone iOS 5 software.

I appreciate the help attempt greatly, however, I do not have an Iphone, only an Ipod that I use with Itunes. Basically I have Itunes on my Windows PC, (NOT MAC) and it just has a mind of its own and opens randomly, whenever. I have scanned and searching the Itunes application for something to click off for automatically run, or something to that effect and I see nothing. When you connect the device open iTunes and select it from the sidebar. Click on the Summary tab in the main window. Uncheck the option to automatically connect to iTunes. You will find it in the collection of options near the lower part of the window.

I would like to embed interactive widgets in iBooks using iBookAuthor. The widgets in question started life in Java but GWT has allowed them to be converted to javascript and to run on web pages (for example, http://softoption.us/content/node/437 scroll to the bottom). In theory, iBookAuthor can bring in most html5, and much javascript. The technique is to wrap the html in a folder, with 2 extra files, a plist and a default png and then change the extension of the folder to ‘.wdgt’. This is the technique for making Dashboard widgets for the Mac, and Apple even have the Dashcode software to do it. So what you really do is to make a Dashboard widget, then iBookAuthor can import it. So far, so good. And some folk have been doing this, for example http://www.prweb.com/releases/2012/2/prweb9242432.htm http://www.panophoto.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=10417&p=158330#p158423 However, if you start with GWT and create a single page with one button and a Hello World, compile it, and get the WAR file (I use Eclipse here)… the Safari browser and others will run it properly (even on an iPad). Then if you wrap it, a proper Dashboard widget is created, which runs properly on a Mac. Then if you go to iBookAuthor and put a custom widget in the Text, then drag it in. It is accepted by the text and shown as being there. However, if you use Preview to look at it on an iPad, it is gone (or was never there in the first place). Anyone any ideas on this? I do have a little to add, which might help someone. Indeed, opening a blank page and dragging the widget straight in seems good in difficult cases. But, actually, I was also able to insert successfully from the Toolbar especially to blank pages. So, it may have been something to do with the columns and stuff like that. Anyway back then the insertion would show in iBooks Author but not in the Preview on the iPad. I moved on to actual Google Web Toolkit output javascript. Basically I had three at hand to try: a Hello World with a button which went straight it, one of moderate complexity, (for example with a built in Lisp interpreter), which also went straight in, and finally a more complex one that initially was rejected by iBook Author. Author complained that there was an unsupported media file (of course, Author does not tell you which one it is, that would be too easy). [Remember, this was a proper working Dashboard widget which could be installed on a Mac]. Among other things I had read remarks about .gif files. When looking through the GWT war directory at the actual javascript etc files, I noticed there were two gifs there one called ‘clear.cache.gif ‘ and a second one called ‘0F89659FF3F324AE4116F700257E32BD.cache.gif’. (Now, there is obfuscation so the numbers here may be different from case to case.) The clear.cache.gif did not seem to be anything special. But the other one is an animation. It is three little boxes that twinkle (rather like a waiting spinning cursor). So, I opened that file and saved it to itself (that picks the top frame of the animation and saves only that, leaving you with an unanimated gif). The resulting widget drags and drops into iBooks Author (and seems to work properly at a quick glance). So, if you are having trouble with ‘unsupported media files’ converting animated gifs into unanimated gifs might help in some cases.

I start running a java program and when i switch users the sound doesnt work

When I start running a java program or leave a game running and i switch users the sound doesnt work. I have been searching around the web and nobody seems to have an answer. This just recently started to happen. Please if anyone has any ideas that would be much appreciated and the problem is my computer its almost brand new. And my computer is completely up to date.
