Automatic switch from intro page to following page

Hi there.
I am trying to get the intro page to automatically switch to the following page after the short movie on the intro page has ended. Any ideas?
I am hoping that I overlooked a feature for this offered by iweb. html programming is not really my world.

The most reliable way to do this is by using the refresh meta tag...
<META HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" CONTENT="10;URL=URL to the page">
The problem is that this needs to go into the html doc head which means you need to add it post publishing and will need to do it every time you publish changes to the page.
The alternative is to use javascript and an example is given here...

Obviously its better to use both since a visitor could have javascript turned off. In any case, its better to provide a text or image hyperlink as a backup - just in case.

If you mean switching from many open windows you can use the Window menu or click and hold down the mouse button on the Safari icon on the dock.

When switching from one page to another, browser timeouts and have to refresh

I know I am antiquated, however, I have dial up still. I have never had this problem until recently. When going from one page (even in email) the browser does not load and I have to refresh or it will sit there giving no error and doing nothing. Resetting fire fox does not work.

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

Note that your System Details List shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize some prefs on each start of Firefox.
The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created it, so normally it wouldn't be there.
you can check its content with a plain text editor if you didn't create this file yourself.
The user.js file is read each time you start Firefox and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.

T-Bird keeps automatically switching from composition window to main window while I am typing, which leads to typed letters being interpreted as hotkey commands

Since I switched to Windows 8, I've had this problem with T-Bird. Updates and safe mode have not fixed it.
Basically, while I am composing a mail, t-bird automatically switches to the main window. Because I am in the middle of typing, it usually freezes for a moment, sometimes longer and goes transparent and a (Not Responding) appears, but usually unfreezes and then interprets all the intervening keystrokes as commands. All sorts of damage is done: messages deleted, threads hidden, sometimes a "go to last unread message" box appears. It's a real drag.
I thought it might be a keystroke combination that is making the program change windows, but I'm fairly sure I've seen it switch when I just have the composition window idly open. I think it may be switching whenever T-bird checks for new mail.
One thing to mention: I often switch between US English keyboard layout and Portuguese language layout. I haven't systematically tested whether it happens in one or the other, but the POR layout has some accent marks here and there. still, I've been careful not to accidentally touch the CNTRL key and as I say, I've seen it switching while idle.
Any help is appreciated. It's getting to the point where I can't really use T-Bird any more and am sadly looking for alternatives.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

How do i stop new tabs that are loading from automatically switching from current tab

how do i stop safari from loading a tab i've clicked on previously from automatically switching to it when i'm busy on another one? i want to stay on the other tab until new tab is finished loading..

Go into Safari again, open its Preferences to make sure that that checkbox is unchecked, and see if the tab behavior now acts accordingly. If it does, adjust Safari’s other preferences to your liking, and drag the com.apple.Safari.plist file on your Desktop to the Trash, and empty the Trash. If it doesn’t, drag the original com.apple.Safari.plist file on your Desktop back to the Preferences folder.

Does iPad automatically switch from 3g to Wifi or do I have to turn off 3G when I come back to home wifi?

Will iPad2 auto switch from 3G to Wifi when I come home or will it stay on 3G until 3G is turned off? Doesn't iPhone do it automatically?

If there is a useable wifi network (e.g. if it's a password protected network then the iPad knows the password) then that will be used in preference to 3G - you should be able to tell by the symbol top left of the screen as to whether it's on wifi or 3G.

How do I switch from 1 page format to 2 page format? ibooks won't let me switch back to 2 page after I clicked on 1 page format.

I had clicked on 1 page format on one of the books I have in my library. Since doing this, it won't allow me to click back to 2 page format. Under the view tab, when i scroll down to that area, 1 page is in black with a check mark next to it, and 2 page format is in gray which usually indicates that this sinot an option. I tried removing the check next to 1 page format, but it doesn't seem to help. I would appreciate feedback on resolving this.

Nsslapd-state automatically switching from backend to referral on update

Hello,
I recently separated 4 instances of DS5.2 which used to be on the same machine on 2 different servers (one master & one slave by server).
The first master is working well (including replication on all 3 other instance) but the second master always switch is state (nsslapd-state) from 'backend' to 'referral on update' and never replicate on other LDAP's instances.
I first think of a backend's data problem and try to copy backends from the first master to the second (with binary copy, ldif2db, bak2db, ...) but wihtout any result.
Then I delete my replication agreement and recreate them but without anymore result.
I don't understand why it isn't working (and the 2 servers are binding each other because the first master's replication works well);

There is one button which is available on the right pane after master is initialized, under:
"Data" -> "sufix dc=XYZ,dc=com" -> "Replication"
I don't remember the name on the button but it is someting like "start accepting updates".

Asha 501 bug: slow automatic switch from uppercase...

This is a very simple but highly annoying problem that seems to be a software issue, more than a hardware issue. I’m hoping any of you can confirm this and maybe help me how to solve this. Or I’m hoping someone from Nokia is reading this and filing this as a bug so it can be fixed in a software update .
Steps to reproduce the problem:
Add a new contact from the contacts app
Tap the “First name” field
Keep your phone in portrait mode (long side up), so the keyboard is in phone keypad mode (so not the full QWERTY keyboard)
Type a name, like “John”
See how, in stead of John, it says JOhn. With the first two letters capitalized.
If you try to type John at the beginning of a sentence in for instance a text message or note, the problem does not exist.
Can anyone confirm this issue? And can anyone solve it?

Bro this problem was solved in the new update(1.4) but another issue is when we add a another keyboard or keypad is shows swipe left ir right to change keyboard ! And it should be said just one time no everytime!

Time machine problem. Switching from one external drive to another. Problem started when upgrading to Mavrics, and changing to a WD drive

I am a long time Mac user, running my business on an apple platform since 1984. I currently use a 17" MacBook Pro as my primary computer for work. when it is at work it is plugged in via thunderbolt to my monitor and a one tb back up drive. I use time machine to back up the laptop to the one tb drive. When I go home, I take the laptop with me and use another drive at home as a back up. This way I have redundant back ups, in two separate locations. I have been doing this for years, and Time machine has worked flawlessly, automaticity switching from one drive to another.
I recently switched to Maverics, and got a new drive for home. Now whether I am at home or at work, time machine fails to automatically back up. It will alert me every hour that backups cannot be completed, and I must go to the time machine control panel and manually select a drive and click, "back up now". I also see an alert that says "waiting to complete first back up" even though each backup has been completed.
This is quite annoying, and sometimes embarrassing. When giving lectures in large venues, the backup failure alert appears and shuts down my keynote presentation (again, something new since switching to Maverics and the new WD drive.
I have reformatted the WD drive, and also spent time trying to change parameters in the time machine control panel, but so far no luck.
Any advice out there?

Time machine requires a GUID partion scheme, as well as a Mac OS X extended, journaled Volume.
It needs these to correctly:
1) copy the files
2) run a modified spotlight index pass on the files
Both are required to complete a abckup, and most new drives do not conme this way from the factory.

My devices not automatically switching between Airport Extreme and Airport Express in extended network

I have setup an extended network in my home using an Airport Extreme and an Airport Express. The Extreme is connected directly to the FiOS modem and the Express is being used as the extender. The nework is setup fine, but my devices (MBA, iPhone, iPad) are not switching base stations when the signal becomes poor on the one it's connected to. For example, I am upstairs with my MBA and a great signal as I am connected to the Express. When I move downstairs to where the Extreme is setup, the Wi-Fi connection becomes poor even though I am litterally sitting next to the Extreme. To force it to connect to the Extreme, I need to shutoff the Wi-Fi on the MBA and turn back on. At this point, the MBA will connect to the Extreme with a excellent signal.
Any thoughts on why the MBA is not automatically switching?

The first troubleshooting step for any kind of network "issue" is a complete power cycle of the network. This gives everything a "fresh start" with new connections.
Power off the entire network.....all devices....in any order you want
Wait a minute or two
Start the modem/router first, and let it run a full minute
Start the AirPort Extreme next and let it run a full minute
Keep starting devices one at a time about a minute apart until the entire network is back up
Check the network again with the MBA and report on your results
Do not worry about the iPhone and iPad....they are pretty much hopeless as far as automatically switching from one access point to another....but the MBA should if it is working correctly.

Pulseaudio not automatically switching between output devices

I am using a laptop and I have 3 different output devices on my machine. I have 2 regular output jacks, and a speaker. Whenever I plug-in a headset, pulseaudio happily keeps sending all audio to the speakers. I then have to open pavucontrol and manually switch my output device. This bug does not occur on OpenSUSE or Ubuntu.
Does anyone have any idea about how to fix this?

Making the switch from Word to Pages

I'm trying to make the switch from Microsoft Word to Apple Pages. For my job, I push Word to the point of not working anymore with large, 150+page reports, that have many figures (images), tables and cross-references. I am trying to see if Apple pages will handle these documents any better than Word.
My problems are many, and any help would be very much appreciated.
I need to learn how to use the styles the right way,to set up my main report like so:
1. Heading Primary
     1.1 Heading Secondary
          Bodytextbodytextbodytext
     1.2 Heading Secondary
          Bodytextbodytextbodytext
          1.1.1 Heading 3rd
and so on. This can easily be done with the default heading tool and a simple press of the tab button-but I need to be able to change the font size on the different level headings, and the only way I can manage this is when I define each sub-heading as a different paragraph style (like 1.Heading 1 and 1.Heading 2), but it seems whenever I do this the table of contents has a hard time indenting the right topics.
Also, I'm not fully sure how to add captions to pictures and tables, and then how to below the table of contents make a list of figures and a list of tables, respectively. In word, it is as simple as inserting a caption and defining it as a figure or table.
Like I said, any help would be appreciated-I can't seem to pick these things up from tutorial videos or the user manual, so I've turned to the trusty Apple Support Community.

Table of Contents doesn't adapt to the automatic lists numbering, sad to say. The TOC has it own Styles you can set.
For caption use a text box that you group with the image, table or any other object.
To make a list of images and tables you have to do them manually.
Pages doesn't have all the feature Word has.
Have you downloaded the Pages User Guide from your Pages Help menu?
There is a rather good boo you can get "The missing manual for iWork".
