Automatic SWU_OBUF after import

Hello,
does anybody have a feedback, advice or thought about running SWU_OBUF automatically after import of a transport request in a target system? I don't know if it can be dangerous or not, or if there is another solution.
We have many systems and administrators forget to run this transaction when workflow transports are done during the day. That makes us losing lot of time for analysis, doing tests again, etc.
I think of creating a SWU_OBUF batch input and run it using AFTER_IMP method of PDWS object, and sRFC to run it on the right target client.

I was reading that the program Rick mentioned could be used. I'm not 100% it is the same program since SWU_OBUF calls a different program, but they might end up calling the same code any way.

In the worst case, you can just write a simple program that does a CALL TRANSACTION.

Sandra didn't want to run it frequently. She needed it only upon importing a transport into a system. I'm not aware of anything available with the standard system so I suggested that she schedules the job to run more frequently on non-production systems. If you are aware of any automated method, it'll be great if you share with us.

Automatic delete after import from iPhone

Hello,
when I import pictures from iPhone directly to Aperture 3, I can not find a way the automatically delete the pics from iPhone after completion.
This is done in iPhoto very easily.
Anyone any idea, where / how to activate this option in Aperture 3?
I hope Aperture 3 is able to do that, otherwise it is a poor statement as Aperture should be some iPhoto prof....

Don't know the answer offhand (don't have an iPhone), but you might find it if you read through some of the [Importing Images chapter|http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/index.html#chapte r=4%26section=0] of the User Manual.

Album art doesn't automatically download after import

Whenever I import a new C.D., the album art for that album doesn't automatically download, even though I have that option checked as yes in my iTunes preferences. So, I wind up having to get the album art myself. What gives? Anyone else having similar problems? Any suggestions?

Using windows version, I can't update multiple songs either. Neither drag-and-drop from an IE window or copy&paste work when several songs are highlighted, but it works fine when it's only one. I haven't tried to update multiple via the "info" screen yet (at work atm). It seems to affect both mac and PC :/ it worked fine on v6.

Automatically export after importing?

Hi, I do equine event photography, and would like to use Lightroom (on a Macbook Pro) to import images, which I then need to export (either to a shared folder or to a PC laptop over a network).
Since I only have moments between most event classes, I can't afford to wait for the import to finish and manually start the export.
What would be perfect is some sort of "post-import" action, where upon completed import (and application of the Develop Preset, chosen during Import), it would automatically run the Export. But this doesn't seem to be an option in LR (yet).
Is there another way to accomplish this, using LR? I could use other software to get the images into the system, but then I wouldn't have LR's Develop Presets, which I want to apply to make the images have more pop when showing them to customers.

Thanks Rob, I've used publish plugins for my Smugmug site, but hadn't considered using Publish for local purposes. You got me to research that a bit, and it probably will benefit me to go that route, because I can make my initial jpegs, yet still make changes to some files, and then have the changes propagate later to the viewing station (if I understand right).
So I've got the smart-collection and Publish thing going, now I just have to try the import with auto-export plugin.
I was looking through your plugin list, and got my hopes up when I saw Xmp Crop, but I'm not sure if it can do what I was hoping for: Some people order CD's of all the photos of a rider in an event, and to try and ensure my logo is likely to end up in their prints, I send them 3 copies of each image (4x6 ratio, 5x7, and 8x10). Best best way I've figured out so far is to crop them all to 4x6, but use the ratio-guides to make sure the 5x7 and 8x10 crops will look good as well (and flag the ones that will need custom cropping for the other sizes), and then make the 4x6 JPEGs with file-naming prefix of 4x6, then crop one to 5x7, Copy that develop setting (with only Crop Ratio checked) and paste that to all the other shots (I have to wait for the 4x6 jpegs to finish, of course) and process those (with custom filename set to prefix 5x7), then do the same for 8x10. It would be nifty if I could just crop to 4x6, then let a plugin take care of the rest (with the exception of the flagged images needing custom cropping). Would that be possible with an existing plugin?

Apex Application not working after importing to my apps schema...

I created one DB application in my sample schema that is associated with apex 4.0.....
Application details:
*) login page(where i will be giving username and password)
*) page 1 (consist of several form fields, like

the above are the fields, if i put any entries in the above field means, it will get automatically inserting in the report column, which is also in the same page consist of the above fields in the table manner...
since this report table consist of an edit icon in front, if i clicked the edit icon of an one row means, it will go to another page..
*) i.e. page 3(consist of the same fields with entries in it automatically corresponding to the each and every row, suppose if i want to update any changes means i can update in it....
this is my application that i developed it is working well with in the sample schema apex 4.0..
What i did is i created a new workspace with APPS schema in it...and i have imported my application that i developed in sample schema to APPS schema....
Since after importing to APPS schema...when i tried to open the application, it is not showing any datas in it...That is due to the tables that are supporting the application is not in APPS schema, so what i did is i have given grant privilege to the respective tables and also i have created a synonym for accessing the table in APPS schema for supporting the application.....
Now if i tried to put any entries in the form in page 2, it is getting inserting in the report column which is also in the page2....
But my problem starts here, if i clicked the edit icon symbol in each and every row of the report column it is going to the page 3 which has a respective form fields, but it is not showing any entries in it automatically, and if i tried to put any entry in it, it is not getting updating in the report table......
why this problem occurred for my application in APPS schema....But my application works very well within the sample schema......why it is not showing any entries in the form automatically soon after i clicked the edit icon in each and every row.....
i couldn't know what is the real problem behind this..... help me friends.
As this is my urgent requirement in my project..Reply me ASAP...

First, try a system reset although I can't give you any confidence. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

Cannot edit chapter names in iDVD after importing movie from iMovie

I have no trouble customizing iDVD (version 5.0.1) menu page after importing iMovie directly (instead of going to QT as interim step). But the names of the chapter markers are file names for video clips, title pages and transitions. The iMovie help says to change the names in the space next to the 'thumbnails' of chapters found in iDVD. THERE ARE NO THUMBNAILS. And there is no way I could find, using menu options or clicking on the chapter frames shown in 'map' mode to type in anything.
There are other problems, like getting rid of the default "Travel Cards' stuff...like I can drop a still photo in for a custom background, but the default 'celluloid design' banner still rolls up in previw mode. If you can also help with that, great. But the main thing right now is getting these chapter names change.

You are the third person who has taken a crack at this. I don't know if you read my last reply which detailed the situation. But if you did and the 'menu' you refer to is the main menu page, that is not the problem; I can change text there. I am talking about the submenu for 'Scene Selections', which I have only been able to access via map mode.
In map mode I cannot highlight the names. Period. Can't do it no matter where I place the cursor or carefully click.
In preview mode, when the Scene Selection sub-menu page appears whenever you drag the cursor over a chapter name it automatically highlights so any clicking will either do nothing (if a real careful click, trying to highlight text and not trigger off play of the movie chapter) or just start play for the movie chapter.
So...how does this newbie get to the 'menu' you mention where I can click on a chapter name in order to type new text?

All pictures in 1 folder after import - problem?

Hi,
due to a hardware change (I´m now an iMac Owner ;)) I had to import all my photos into iPhoto.
Previously I did a copy of all my photos on an external hard drive, unfortunately without any folder structure. In other words all phtos (approx. 9.000 photos) were inside 1 folder on the external hard drive.
After importing the photos iPhoto automatically put all the files/pictures into the folder ORIGINALS but also without any subfolder. In the meantime I have of course splitted one respective event into 40-50 accordingly inside iPhoto.
Overall a new photo structure was planned anyway!
Question:
Is it a problem of speed or any other issue if iPhoto has to search always through the whole folder when accessing a single photo. I did not get any warning when importing the photos within the iPhoto application. Or is it only a question of folder structure inside iPhoto without any limits related to speed or possible other issues? Or will be originals inside iPhoto never touched?
Does it make sense to split the original files within the folder ORIGINALS into subfolder? AFAIK a manual change of the iPhoto structure is not recommended, right?

Very right. Doing that will corrupt the Library.
Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
It makes no difference whatever how iPhoto stores the photos inside the Library Package. You do all your work in the iPhoto Window and there is never a need for you to go into the Library package at all.
So, organise your photos in the iPhoto Window

After importing pictures they became grey with doted white line around

I have imported pictures (RAW CR2 format) from my camera hundreds of times and they all went well. But this time the only the import worked well (I saw the preview when each picture was imported). Then Iphoto asked if i would like to delete the pictures on the camera after import. I deleted them. But then when I should take a look at the pictures they were grey with doted white lines around all of them. When I chose a picture and check the properties I can see that the pictures use normal space. I tried to drag one picture to a directory in the finder but this didn´t work either. The export doesn't work either. When I scroll fast among the pictures I can see them for a short period but when I stop scrolling they will turn grey with doted white line around. Whats wrong? and how to solve?

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

How do I stop iphoto from creating events automatically when I import photos from an external hard drive?

IPhoto is creating events automatically when I import photos and when I merge events and then go to finder>all images, I see iphoto has created several copies of each picture....I try to delete the extra copies but then the albums or events also get affected, even if there is one copy of each photo left in all images...have someone had this problem?

This is how iPhoto works. Every photo is in an Event. Events are the basic organisation of the Library. Every import means at least one new Event. Yes you can merge Events after import and so on, but there is at least one Event created at each import.

No it hasn't. It hs created versions of the photos, not copies. There will be a couple of thumbnails for viewing in the iPhoto Window plus the Master and then a edited version for pics that are modified. The icons for each of these may be similar but they are not copies - for a start they are different sizes - and all are required for iPhoto to work.

Automatic 'return' after a paragraph

It seems to me TLF automatically inserts a 'return' between two paragraphs. So if the first paragraph ends with a return, you get two empty lines between the paragraphs. Is this a correct assumption?
I have been working around this by deleting the last return in a paragraph...
But now (which maybe seems a little bit strange) I want to show two paragraphs without any return, so my work around doesn't do the trick anymore...
Does anybody know if you can turn off the automatic return after a paragraph?

To rename masters
In the Browser, select an image or group of images.
Choose Metadata > Batch Change (or press Command-Shift-B).
In the Batch Change dialog, choose a naming convention from the Version Name Format pop-up menu to specify how you want the masters named.For example, choose Version Name from the Version Name Format pop-up menu to have your master filenames changed to match the names of the corresponding versions in Aperture. If you choose a custom name format, enter the name you want in the Custom Name text field. For more information about naming files, see Automatically Naming Your Imported Images.
Select the Apply to Master File(s) checkbox, then click OK.
The master files corresponding to the selected images are renamed. For more information about working with the Batch Change dialog, see Batch Changing Metadata.

Erase memory stick after import

I have a sony DSC-P10 camera and have noticed that if I check the box to erase files from the memory stick after import, the pictures are erases but still seem to be taking up space on the stick. I had to reformat the memory stick to get the space back.
Is there something I can tweak in iPhoto? If I have to erase the memory stick manually it is no big deal, I just wondered if I am missing a trick here?

I don't know anything about your memory stick, but I can ell you from personal experience and from other's experiences here to NOT have iPhoto or even Image Capture to erase your memory stick.
Thins can go wrong in the download process and there is a chance you can lose the images on the computer and on the card if you have it automatically erased.

Picture Files staying in iPhone after import to Photos for Mac

After I connect my iPhone to my Mac, Photos asks to import. So I imported the photos. If I didn't ask to erase, Photos continues asking you to import the same pictures. In iPhoto I didn't have this issue. Any comments or suggestions? I am duplicating files unnecessarily.

I don't see an easy way to delete previously imported items, but these step worked for me. Be careful to make sure you do have copies of all these photos before you decide to delete them again!
1. Check the 'Delete items after import'.
2. REIMPORT all the 'Already imported' items.
3. Open the 'Last Import' album, and delete all those photos.
For your Secondary question, when the "Open Photos for this device" box is checked, that means when you plug in that iPhone, the Photos app will open up automatically.

Check mark not showing after importing in Image Capture

The check marks will show right after importing photos to a hard drive in Image Capture. However, after unplugging my iPhone and plugging it back in to import new photos, the check marks are not showing up for the photos I have already imported. One way I was successful at getting the check marks to show was to select another folder to import to and then select the folders that contain the imported images.

CDs don't contain artwork, you can either add the artwork manually or (if the album is available in the iTunes store) you can have iTunes download it automatically from there.
