Automatic transfer of Shared Library: does it "catch-up" when Mac back on?

I setup this feature and it works great, although it seems that both computers must be on and iTunes running for it to work.
Now, if the Mac (or PC) that "subscribes" to the main Mac's library (where I purchase music) was turned off, does it "catch-up' and transfers all purchases that have been made since it was last turned on?

I recently purchased a new PC. I had backed-up my old computer on Carbonite, so I was able to transfer my iTunes library to the new computer when I downloaded my info from Carbonite, but the playlists are gone. Is there a way to restore my playlists?
Most of my playlists are on my iPod. If I use my iPod to transfer, will the songs double in my library? Also, how do I do this?
Thank you for any & all info you can provide!

If you had backed up and restored your library properly you should have ended up with the playlists too. Did you import the media folder from the backup drive into a new library rather than restoring the entire iTunes folder?

How do I transfer my iTunes library from a PC to a Mac when the old computer is broken?

The Appe Store will do this for you.
You can call Apple Support and they will help you.
You can type "move itunes library from pc to mac" or similar into the google search bar.
All will get the same thing accomplished.

  • Brand new to Mac.  Need to transfer my Itunes library from my PC to my Mac

I am brand new to the Mac world and very happy to be a part after my long trip with PC. I just recieved my new macbook pro and I am trying to find the best way to transfer my music library from my PC to my Mac. I also just purchased a new Itouch as well. I have not done anything with it yet and I was thinking it would be better to wait until I get my library situated with the macbook to do so?
Any help or advice would be a great help... I am completely lost. Everything that I have seen so far is more approachable to the point where it throws you off kilter!
    Cheers!

  • Linux shared library does not work in fedora core 4

I have transferred an application that ran perfectly on fedora 3 to fedora 4.  It uses a shared library that I wrote in C.
The vis no longer appear to recognise this file as a  shared
library.  I have recompiied the library in fedora 4 but this makes
    no difference.
    Any ideas?

    Hi jbroughton,
There are few things that I need to know in order to investigate why your file is no longer being recognised:
What version of LabVIEW are you using?
What is your kernal version of federa four?
Is your application a built executable?
What is your librarying doing currently when you try to call it? If any error popups what are the error codes and messages you are getting?
Can you call your C library outside of LabVIEW?
    Thanks

  • Automatically Transfer Music from Library to Playlist?

Is there a way to automatically transfer a music CD that I copy to the library into a playlist that I have setup by genre instead of manually moving the songs?
    5th Generation Ipod   Windows XP

At the top of the settings screen, there is an option for match all or any. Change it to match any to get the artist and all songs within a certain genre. It could be that the song isn't in that genre also (if you have match all selected). Check under one of the songs for correct spelling etc.
Also, please consider marking the helpful or solved buttons above these posts.

It takes you offline, but doesn't log you out (afaict). A few seconds after you open the lid, you're back online.

  • [solved] C++ shared library requests 3.4.11 when I only have 4.2?

    Hi all,
I use Eclipse CDT and have a project consisting of an executable which calls on .so dynamic libraries for functionality. My executable can also compile into a Matlab mex-file, so that I can do mathematical analysis on the results.
This has been working pretty well for about a year, but recently Matlab refused to call any of my dynamic libraries, with the following error message:-
/home/LinuxProg/Matlab/bin/glnxa64/../../sys/os/glnxa64/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.11' not found (required by ./libs/inAD.so)
The exact same code (except for the matlab wrapper) works externally to matlab. Confusingly, if I compile the executable and dynamic libraries with -O0 instead of my normal -O2/3, it works fine.
My idea is that its perhaps due to some mismatch between gcc versions, as that's what was updated recently I think, but it has run properly a few times before this started becoming an issue, after the latest gcc update to 4.4.2.
Anyway, that's the situation, does anyone have any idea what's may create such an issue? Suggestions on things I can try are appreciated as well.
EDIT: Sigh, spend a week cracking your head on an issue and you find the answer 10 minutes AFTER posting a question on the boards... I worked around the issue by moving matlab's built-in gcc out of the way and symlinking the system gcc.

Just to add, I just installed Matlab 2010b, and had to troubleshoot this again (gcc is at 4.5 here).
Going to $MATLABROOT/sys/os/glnxa64 and moving libstdc++* and libgcc_s* out of the way (no need to link, it'll automatically look for system versions) is just part of the puzzle.
Additionally you have to go to $MATLABROOT/bin/glnxa64 and move libdc1394.so.22* out of the way. Without that, I was getting an error about:-
    ??? Invalid MEX-file
    'xxx.mexa64':
    libraw1394.so.8: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory.

  • ITunes Library not seen - Sharing Library with another account on same Mac

I have a done a search and tried some of the suggestions, but it doesn't appear to be working.
    Background:
Had iTunes on a Windows machine.
    Purchased about 60 tunes
Ripped all my CDs into the library
    Bought an iBook
Purchased about 30 tunes on the iBook
Used the Network to copy the Music files to the iBook
    iBook appears to have everything
Bought at 17" iMac - did a Target Disk transfer from iBook
Reformatted 17" and traded it in for 20" iMac
Did a Target Disk transfer from iBook to new 20"
Under my account on the iMac, I can see/use my entire library. Per suggestions here, I moved the iTunes Music folder to my Public diretory so that my wife could see the library too. When I loaded iTunes on my wife's account and did an Add to Library the only thing that shows up in her library is the 30 tunes I purchased using the iBook.
I have both accounts setup to point to the Public directory.
How do I make this work??
Also, I really only want one library to be shared between both of our accounts on both machines, but I do want the ability to take the library with me when I go mobile with the iBook. Is this possible?

I read the referenced thread and although the person got the desired results, I see two problems with the method they used. It sounds like they simply mad another copy of the library on the hard drive. First, this wastes disk space as you now have to copies of every song on the hard drive. Second, whenever music is added to either of the libraries, the other library will not see it and be out of "sync" unless you manually copy the new songs to the other directory.
I am looking for a solution in which their is only one central library.
    Thanks
    Carl

  • How do i transfer my itunes library onto my new computer, when on the old computer I have all the songs saved onto an external hard drive, which I still wish to use?

At the moment on my old latop I have an external hard drive with all my songs on.  I need to attach the hard drive before the songs will play.  Any new songs are downloaded onto the external hard drive.
How can I get the same set up on my new laptop?

When I have held the shift key down & clicked on the iTunes library that was shown on the external hard drive, it has loaded most of the older albums, however there are several albums which have not appeared on iTunes on the new laptop, but if you go into explorer and look at the folders/files on the hard drive, they do appear on the external hard drive.
I have also noticed my play lists and genres have not shown as they were on the old laptop.
Is there any way of getting a complete copy of all songs, play lists, etc. so that is does not require to hold files in two difference places, I would prefer if all the files were on the external hard drive, so I do not fill the internal hard drive with songs?

    Ciao.

  • I have just bought a MacBook Pro and want to transfer my iTunes library from my old laptop to mac.  I've prepped and copied the library to an external hard drive then loaded it onto my mac however none of the music or apps are appearing.

I've moved my library to my Mac but none of my apps and only some purchased music/books appear in itunes.  I'm sure I'm missing something but I'm new to Mac's so not sure what! Any help appreciated

Tunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.
Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not available in all countries; apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this). Movies currently available in the USA only. Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.

  • I am unable to re-enable bonjour services to view my shared library on my PC from my Mac

I am unable to view my shared music library from my Mac on my PC (running Windows 7).  When I check in the sharing preferences, it says "The Bonjour services has been disable.  Bonjour is required to share music with others.  Please re-enable the service to use this feature."  Yet when I check the services in the system configuration, it says that Bonjour is enabled and running.  I have also checked in the msconfig and it says Bonjour services are running.  I have also performed a complete reinstall of iTunes and that did not help.  I'm looking for a solution.  Thanks.

  • How do I transfer old iphoto library 9.5.1 to new mac/retina display with iPhoto 9.6?

I am trying to transfer my old iPhoto library 9.5.1 from an old mac (OSX 10.9.5) to my new retina display mac, with Yosemite 10.10 and iPhoto 9.6. When I try to import the old library it asks if I want to shut down my current iPhoto library and open a new one. I have already transferred photos from my iPhone into iPhoto 9.6 on the new mac.

Never import one Library to another. Every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo, you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.
To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
