Automatic upload feature in Photo Stream

I am confused with the 'Automatic Upload' feature in photo stream within iPhoto.  Hopefully you can help.
The way I understand this feature is if I import a photo within iPhoto and the automatic upload feature is enabled, it will automatically put the imported photo into the photo stream such that it will be on all my ios devices.  Now this where it gets confusing.  In iPhoto I do not see the photo in my photostream event folder.  I do see it in photo stream on ios devices)iphone and iPad).  In iPhoto the photo is currently in the 'Import' folder.  So where does the photo in the import go when I do another import.  And...when photo stream d/l's pictures to monthstream folder, will there now be 2 copies of that same picture in iPhoto.
I hope this is clear and you understand what I am trying to decipher.

Thanks for answering.
Cause I have some photos want to do some post processing in ipad via some tools like snapspeed.
It happended to be the recently imported photos. So my work flow  is to get the photo from photostream in ipad.
After finishing post processing, it automatically creates a new  photo in photostream (which I love that).
And I can easily get the photo in  my iMac via photo stream.
That's why I found the resolution changed, cause at first I even want to replace my original one.
So I think if I want preserver the resolution, maybe I can use your way.
Thanks agiain.

  • HT201317 My photos from my iphone won't upload to my photo stream on my mac.

I turned on iCloud on both devices and it will only upload pictures to my phone from my mac's photo stream, but when I take a picture on my phone, it wont upload to my Mac, even when I have WiFi. Please Help.

Have you left the camera app? Upload to photo stream should start, when you leave the camera app.
And when your iPhone is fully charged. The phone will not upload, if the battery has less than 20% left. Then the ipload willwait, unitl the phone is charged.
On an iOS device, new photos you take will be automatically uploaded to your photo stream when you leave the Camera app and are connected to Wi-Fi. Note: My Photo Stream does not push photos over cellular connections.

  • HT6413 Why are my photos not uploaded to my photo stream on my PC?

Running Win7 on my PC.  Photos taken on Ipad or Iphone 5 used to upload automatically.  Updated to Iphone 6 and they no longer do so.  Have checked all settings and they appear to be in order.  Any reason they should not upload to the photo stream?

I found the problem.  AS it turns out, when I created my iCloud account I eneded up creating a NEW ID.  The process is a little bit confusing and it is apparently easy to get one ID on the iCloud on your iMac and another on your iPhone.  This is what I had done.  It was a simple matter of signing out of iCloud on the Mac and then signing back in wiht my original Apple ID (the one on the iPhone) once I signed backin, pictures starte appearing in the Photo Stream.  Easypeasy!

  • Automatic upload photostream, editing photos

Do I need to turn off automatic upload to photostream while I import and edit photos in iphoto, then turn it back on to avoid getting unedited versions of these photos in the photostream?

Yes, with automatic upload enabled, the photos will be uploaded to the photo stream as soon as you import them. If you want more control, add them manually to the photo stream.

  • Difference between iCloud Photo Library and Upload to My Photo Stream?

What is the difference between the iCloud Photo Library and the Upload to My Photo Stream options in the iCloud settings on my iPhone / iPad? Is it that uploading to the iCloud Photo Library uploads the images to iCloud (for viewing via browser) and using the Photo Stream only syncs the images between iOS devices?
I've had an iPad for awhile but I just got my first iPhone and I'm trying to understand the sync behavior. It seems that with both options enabled (iCloud and Photo Stream), every single image, screenshot, picture downloaded from Twitter, etc is all getting lumped together in the All Photos album and then synced everywhere. I absolutely do not want this. Can I have just a Camera Roll folder that syncs between devices, and then downloads / screenshots / etc stay local to the device without syncing?
I'm coming from Windows Phone, which worked exactly how I just described. Pictures taken with the phone went to the Camera Roll and the Camera Roll synced to OneDrive, and then images downloaded via other apps, or screenshots, went to separate albums that did not sync (unless I configured those albums to sync). This way everything was logically separated, easy to find, and I had complete control over the syncing behavior. This is what I'm trying to replicate on my iPhone.
Oh, is it true that every image *has* to be in the All Photos albums? There's no way to move screenshots and downloads to separate albums so they don't get cluttered with pictures I take? Or can I enable a separate Camera Roll folder?

I realize no one is twisting my arm to use anything. But that doesn't stop me from being disappointed about iOS's photo management capabilities compared to what I was used to in Windows Phone.
I already have unlimited OneDrive storage per my Office 365 account so that's not an issue. I just assumed that iCloud would be a more elegant photo syncing solution since it's built into the OS so that was the path I wanted to pursue. However now that I have a better understanding of the iCloud solution, it's clear that I'll stick with the OneDrive app for iOS to automatically back up my photos there instead of iCloud.
Not trying to be snarky and I do appreciate the info and links provided - those definitely helped.

  • Auto upload to My Photo Stream

Is it possible to switch off the automatic upload of all photos taken on my iPhone to My Photo Stream?
I would still like to use the My Photo Stream function, but manually select the photos to upload.
It might take 2 or 3 goes to get the photo I want (kids blinking, blurred image etc). Also, sometimes I take a photo as a note to remember something - book title, concert date etc.
These "notes" don't need to go to my Photo Stream, and nor do the blurred/blinking photos.

  • Upload pictures to Photo Stream

Hello. I want to give iCloud Photo Stream a try. Problem is, iPhoto is horrendous software and I just won't run it. What other way are there to upload pictures to Photo Stream?
I can send pictures automatically from iPhone, and Wiindows user get a nifty uploads folder. Ironically, however, Mac users are stuck with bulky and unreliable software to upload their pictures. Why, I ask you, are Windows users being rewarded for not being Mac users?
Is there a way to set up a Windows-like "Uploads" folder, or upload the files ising some programming tool?  Thanks.

    Here's one way:
1 - put the image files you want to upload to your Phone and then into PHoto Stream in a folder on your hard drive.
2 - connect your iPHone to your Mac and launch iTunes.
3 - in your iPhone section of iTunes click on the Photos button in the toolbar.
4 - select the checkbox Syhnc Photos from .
5 - in the resulting window navigate to the folder you've created, select it and use the Apply button.
6 - once in your iPhone select the photos uploaded and move to the Photo Stream.
Or learn how to use iPhoto properly and make the operation nearly automatic.

  • The photos in camera roll are not uploading to my photo stream.

The photos in my camera roll on my iPhone are not uploading to my Photo Stream.  Both devices are logged in to the same apple account and both are connected to wifi.

Is your iPhone properly charged? It will not update, if the battery is low, and will not upload, if the camera app is open. So make sure the camera is closed - double click the Home button and swipe the camera preview up to close the app.

  • Not all the photos from my iPad are uploaded to My Photo Stream.

Does Photo Stream have some algorithm to recognize similar photos and upload only one of them?
I have like 700 photos in my iPad Photo Stream. But only half of them are uploaded to My Photo Stream folder on my PC. Why?
I noticed that similar photos are not uploaded. Maybe there is some algorithm?
    How can I fix this?
I must add that photos aren't older than 30 days, and Photo Streams was on from the beggining.

    Good morning
I can't create this issue on my devices but appears that others have had this problem - often during times of poor wifi reception it seems.  I did find this solution of powering off and then they came through for this op.
    Cheers

  • Why are photos being automatically deleted from my photo stream?

I have three iDevices that use the same Apple ID:  an iPad 2 running iOS 7, an iPad 4 running iOS 6, and an iPod Touch running iOS 6.
Up until a few weeks ago, they all lived happily together.  Whenever I saved a photo on any one of these devices, the photo would show up in the photo stream for all three devices.
However, recently the iPad 2 has been mysteriously showing less and less items in the photo stream.  More and more photos disappear from the photo stream every day (only on this iPad; the other iPad and the iPod have all the same photos in the stream.)  The iPad 2 now has only 100 photos while the iPad 4 and iPod have 800+ in the stream.
Why am I losing photos from the stream in the iPad 2, and why aren't the other devices behaving the same way?  I'm not deleting anything (at least, I'm not deleting the images that are mysteriously absent from the iPad 2), and there are no device storage space issues (plenty of space on each device).
The iPad 2 seems to keep only about a week or two's worth of photos in the stream.  Does this have something to do with the versions of iOS that the devices are running?  I don't understand why this behavior would have suddenly changed within the last couple weeks, though, since the iPad 2 has been running iOS7 for quite some time.  It just seems to be arbitrarily happening now.
How can I make my iPad stop removing photos from its version of the stream?  I'm an artist and use all my devices in back and forth fashion, so I need to them to all have the same photo stream content.

My Photo is not a permanent storage space.
The photos you upload to My Photo Stream are stored in iCloud for 30 days to give your devices plenty of time to connect and download them.

  • Why don't all the pictures I take on my phone upload to my photo stream?

Why don't the all of the pictures I take on my iPhone 5 upload to my photo stream?

There are few things you can check. Most of the Hotels use "splash" login page when you go online you have to accept their TOS. If you don't do that connection does not exist, even if you see wifi simbol. Verify that both devices are connected to wifi. Also you want to make sure that camera app of your iphone is turned off and phone is charged over 20 %.
Do simple test. When you on wifi take a new photo and open your photostream album on the same phone. If you see that photo show up in there in few min (takes 2 to 5 on fast connection) then you need to check your ipad and if it does not show there - check the charge and go online on ipad. Once you verify you can access Internet - see if photo shows up in photostream on the ipad. If you get problem in any step of that process- come back and we ll work througth the rest.
That test will allow to check if photostream works at all, if the problem is intermittent - like you described, when you on good wifi it should rectify itself(it has 30 days to do that), but you want to make sure that those pictures do get in photostream album of your iphone.

  • Can I upload videos to Photo Stream

Can I upload videos to Photo Stream?

Photo Stream IS NOT a backup. It will only show the last 1000 photos taken on your iPhone. And no, you cannot "upload" video to photo stream.
If you need to backup, use iTunes. Your videos will not be backed up, but they will be synched.

  • I've updated to iOS 7 on various devices but non of them will play videos that I've uploaded to shared photo streams. They play on the device I've uploaded them with but not on any of my other devices on anybody I've shared with.

You would lose photo stream photos older than 30 days from your my photo stream folder.  Tto keep them save them to the camera roll first.  To do this in iOS 7, open your my photo stream alburm, tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon on the lower left, then tap Save to Camera Roll.
The photo streams from others should reappear when you turn it back on.  Worst case, the owners of the shared photo streams would have to re-invite you.

  • Concerned with the Automatic Upload feature

My project has over a thousand PHP files that will need to be constantly sync-ed to my remote server. I'm still testing the Automatic Upload feature and have some concerns.
My remote server is half the planet away from me so sometimes the Internet connection may be slow and not very reliable. Sometimes it takes several attempts to upload just one file.
Given this, can I count on Eclipse to do the right job as when I used to with other FTP / SSH clients, while it indicated the file upload was a success it actually turned out to be wrong or half-uploaded.
Would Eclipse Automatic Upload do such a thing in times of a not so reliable Internet connection? Is there any bullet-proof check such as MD5 verification or something in place that can make it absolutely sure that the upload is successful and correct? So I don't have to worry about it.....cause' some files are very deep in the project, I can't test all of them out after each sync. That would drive me crazy. But not having a peaceful mind that's rest assured also drives me nuts.
Things would go wrong when that file is included and run. But before that, I'm not so sure if they are uploaded fully and correctly.
Should I be worried? Can somebody share their experience with Eclipse Automatic Upload. Can I count on it even if my Internet connection sucks?

Just started using Eclipse and ran into the same issue, hopefully i'll find a solution too.
