Automatically add to mobileme gallery

If a smart folder is synced with mobileme gallery, does its contents change the same as if it were the smart folder itself. For example, if sync a smart folder containing >4* from a project then add more images and rate them >4*, will they automatically be added to the gallery?
If this isn't the case, is there a way of automatically adding to mobileme galleries, or do the contents always have to be specified manually?

I have the exact same question. For example I have created a smart folder that shows all pictures with my face and my wife's face. As I confirm more faces the smart folder grows but this doesn't translate into my MobileMe gallery updating with the new pictures.

Hello Friends. On the left side of the iPhoto window I have all my albums, keepsakes, facebook pics, and my mobileme galleries. Now, that works great for me, but my wife can't use her mobileme with iPhoto (or we just haven't figured it out. Is there a way to add a second gallery to iPhoto? If I understand you correctly your wife has her own MobileMe email address (aka MobileMe account) and she wants to publish galleries from iPhoto?
If that is the case you would want to create a new user account (Creating a new user account) for your wife to use. She can then have her own iPhoto Library with her own pictures and publish to her own Mobile Me account.
(Publishing to more than one MobileMe member name from the same computer user account can get very confusing and I do not recommend it.)
As an alternative she can login to the www.me.com website with her MobileMe member name and upload pictures to her gallery from there.

How to setup automatic sync to mobileme gallery from iphoto?

i uploaded an album from iphoto to my gallery and the next day i added 2 pictures to that album in iphoto and they were not synced to my gallery?

Once you create the iPhoto MMe gallery the Album you originally used is not longer linked to it.
You need to copy the new photos from wherever in the library they are and paste them into the gallery album that you access in the Web section at the left.

Why is mobileme icon grayed out when I try to add a MobileMe gallery?

I found some old answers on the web, but they aren't pertinent. My MobileMe prefpane is correctly configured, but when I click on the "+" sign in iPhoto, the MobileMe icon is grayed out. Why? iPhoto '09 8.1.2.

OK. Time to bring out the big guns and go in for the kill. Wyodor posted the following code for adding a MMe gallery via an HTML snippet. Works just like the MMe widget as it's essentially the same code:

Sync MobileMe Gallery with iWeb site

I published an iPhoto album to my MobileMe account, and now the album is published, available for everyone to visit. I want to add a MobileMe Gallery widget to my homepage, but when i do so, the widget tells me to upload a gallery to my MobileMe and the album i created does not appear in the drop down menu. How can i resolve this?! Essentially i want a slideshow to appear on my homepage.

MobileMe Gallery + Smart Folder; why doesn't it automatically update?

I used to use Photocasting on iPhoto 6. This worked great in that I published a photocast of a smart folder and any new items that matched the smart folder were automatically published.
I upgraded to iPhoto '08 specifically so that people could subscribe to an album via RSS and have it work on any computer.
Unfortunately, with iPhoto '08 the MobileMe Gallery doesn't seem to remember that it was based on a smart folder and I have to manually add additional pictures to publish in the MobileMe Gallery.
What am I missing? All I want is to have a smart folder automatically publish all new matches to an RSS feed for my friends & family to see new pics.
Please advise as to how anyone is able to accomplish this.

MobileMe galleries are separate from the album that you initially use to create them. Any photo added to the album also has to be manually added to the gallery. It's the nature of the beast. You can put in a feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Cannot add photos from my own MobileMe gallery to my library

Computer A and Computer B are both linked to the same MobileMe account and both have iPhoto '08. I published a set of photos to a new MobileMe gallery using Computer A. I can view the gallery on Computer B, but I can't edit the photos on Computer B or add the photos to my library on Computer B. The edit buttons are grayed out.
I can use Computer B to create a new album from the photos in the MobileMe gallery, but they still cannot be edited and they don't actually appear in the library.
Does anyone know of a way to get the photos into my library on Computer B short of downloading each photo individually to Computer B and then importing in the Computer B library?

To get the photos on to B you'll need to subscribe to the gallery and download. However, you can only edit those published files on the computer that created the gallery.
If the two computers are linked together via a hard wired LAN you can have B log into A and use the library there. Or put the library on a external HD connected to A and let B access it there.

How to add uploaded photos (not from aperture) in Mobileme Gallery to a project

I shared some photos using a mobileme gallery where I allowed friends to upload their photos to the gallery. Now the gallery exists with both the photos from my aperture library (and project) and my friends photos (which appear in aperture with a little symbol).
I would like to have the photos that were uploaded by my friends to be added to a new project without moving or erasing them in the mobileme gallery. Is there a simple way to do this? I know if I select photos from a project and drag and drop them to another project aperture moves the photos but I don't know if this is how aperture handles mobileme galleries in the inspector.

Just drag an image from the MobileMe Gallery to a project it will copy the image, not move it. Aperture will move images that are stored locally in the library but since these images uploaded by friends are only stored on the MobileMe servers, Aperture will make a copy when you drag them to a project.

Automating creation of MobileMe Gallery from audio files in iTunes

I am wanting to create a MobileMe Gallery of a few songs in my iTunes library. The only option to do this is to wrap MP3 files in a .mov container as MobileMe gallery doesn't support audio files. I have worked out all the necessary steps to do this and would now like to automate the process. Here is the sequence I follow manually:
1. Select tracks in iTunes
2. Convert these Apple Lossless files to MP3
3. Add MP3 files to playlist
4. For each track in playlist:
5. Convert album image (.jpg) in album folder to max 640 width (so movies will play on iPhone)
6. Open resulting image in Quicktime Pro
7. Open Audio File in Quicktime Pro
8. Copy Image and Paste into Audio File in Quicktime Pro
9. Share File to Email using Quicktime Pro (this is the best way I've found of creating a small .mov file which just creates a container the same size as the image file and the audio file - presumably there's a way of exporting in the same way)
10. Drag .mov file created from Email created to MobileMe Gallery in iPhoto.
11. Repeat for each track
So I am looking for a way of automating this as much as possible, and wondering if applescript or automator would be the best way to go.
Ideally I would also like the script/automation to be able to create a .mov file slideshow of all images in the album folder (sometimes there is more than one image there), dividing the number of images by the length of the track (perhaps using the 'Add to selection and scale' feature in Quicktime Pro).
Finally one issue I am experiencing - converting the image file to max width 640 does allow the movie file to be played in the MobileMe Gallery from an iPhone, but the file that opens in the Movie Player on the iPhone doesn't show the image(s) in the .mov file, it just plays the audio. I wonder why this is happening?
Any advice on any of this would be much appreciated!

MobileMe Gallery Widgets - 3 Curious Questions

Have created and published an iWeb site which basically consists of one page, onto which I’ve positioned six MobileMe Gallery widgets. In the window for each of those widgets I’ve selected a particular MobileMe Gallery published from Aperture, each of which already has one particular image designated as its Key Photo.
So now what’s left -- and what I’ve searched extensively but still can’t figure out -- is:
1) How do I turn OFF the automatic “slideshow preview” going on inside each of those six Gallery Widgets, and make it so they each display only the Key Photo for that Gallery (at least until the user mouses over a particular widget, activating the scrub/scan feature to manually preview all the images contained in that Gallery)?
2) How do I set each widget window to “fit” all the preview thumbs inside its dimensions, rather than arbitrarily hacking off the tops and bottoms of all the vertically-oriented images, which for many shots just looks arbitrary, amateurish, and really ugly?
3) What is the current status of that ridiculous bug which didn’t allow the Gallery Widget to display a Gallery which had been published using the “Hide album on my Gallery home page” option? I do ultimately need to have that option checked, but have left it unchecked for now just to make sure the iWeb site containing the widgets would actually publish.
So -- have the iWeb people and the MobileMe people FINALLY got this bug fixed, or do I still need to hold off activating that “Hide album...” option, and just let my professional Galleries be all mixed together with my personal ones? (Which again just looks arbitrary and amateurish, and encourages one to check out third-party solutions -- at least until such time as the different programming groups at Apple decide to actually talk to each other, and make programs which can interact in truly fluid, intuitive, and meaningful ways.)
My 2¢ -- on top of 3 questions. Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated.

No, no, no -- I'm fine with the skimming, in fact I like that feature. I'm talking about the fact that EACH of the six different MobileMe Gallery widgets, from the moment I dragged each one onto the iWeb page I was creating and selected which already-published Gallery it should link to, began showing each of the different images contained in that Gallery/Album, changing to the next one every second or two. This happened completely on its own, I did not (at least not intentionally) select or activate anything, and it happens in ALL the widget windows, even though the mouse is not skimming over ANY of them.

The added annoyance is that when you click on one of the widgets, instead of going to that Gallery in its full album view, it goes to a single frame view of whichever image happened to be being displayed at the time you clicked, requiring the user to then click on the "Back to Album" button in the upper left to get their bearings. Which again makes me wonder -- is this normal?
#2 - Again, you're referring to the skimming, right? Since it's a square shape the photos would have to be square to be able to be scaled exactly. Since it's only a "skim" of what's inside being perfectly scaled isn't that necessary.
It certainly wouldn't be as annoying if I could switch off this "automatic slideshow preview" behaviour as described above. (Though even for the skim function, I still think it would make sense to have the option to have the images auto scale to fit completely within the widget window -- which is not square, by the way -- or at least on my system appears to only be sizeable as a horizontal rectangle, to a maximum size of 320x260 pixels. This orientation works fine for previewing horizontally-oriented images, but looks butt-ugly when completely decapitating various groups of people in vertically-aligned shots, of which I happen to have many.)
In any case, if an auto-scale option to fit all image preview thumbs within the widget window (even for mere skimming) is something I need to add to my Feature Request list, that's fine. It's this bizarre, completely on its own "automatic slideshow preview" behaviour I'm still trying to understand.
#3 - it still exists. If you don't want it to be displayed in your overall MMe gallery with the rest of the individual galleries Apple isn't letting it be published alone.
Just to make sure we're talking about the same bug, in an ideal world I DON'T want these particular Gallery/Albums to be displayed as part of my overall MMe Gallery page, but I DO want them to be the designated content of the MMe Gallery WIDGETS which I'm including on the specific iWeb page in question. And if this bug still has not been fixed, then it appears I and many others are still S.O.L. for what should be a simple and obvious bit of formatting.

Can't see my MobileMe gallery to insert

I created one MobileMe gallery and I could insert it as a link from within iWeb using either the Insert Menu up top, or the Web Widgets icon on the bottom. But then I created another gallery from within iPhoto. I set it up so it would synch automatically, and it looks fine in MobileMe Galleries, but I don't see it listed like my other one in iWeb to insert it to my page. Any idea why I wouldn't see it listed?

Perhaps because in iPhoto you have password-protected or hidden the album. Try temporarily undoing those selections in iPhoto and see then if they show up in iWeb. If they do, add the albums in iWeb and then go back into iPhoto and re-apply your password/hidden options.

Sync iPhoto album & mobileme gallery

Hello! I have a few albums in iPhoto that I want to publish to my mobileme gallery. However, I would like for the albums on mobile me to be automatically updated when I add new photos to my iPhoto albums. So I'm wondering what's the best thing to do: Do I keep my original albums and update the mobile me gallery every time I add photos to the albums? Or do I delete the original albums and use only the published albums? With the first option, I need to update manually(?), with the second option, I lose the album folder structure I currently have... Any thoughts?

You have outlined your options very well.
1.) Keep the local Albums and the folder structure you created and drag changes from these albums to the MobileMe Gallery Album when you add new pictures.
2.) Get rid of the local Albums and their folder structure and use just the MobileMe Gallery Albums
Those are the only choices I can think of as well. I suppose the question would be, do you make so many changes to your Albums that dragging the changes to the MobileMe Gallery would be so much work?
If you do decide to use only the MobileMe Gallery and get rid of the local Albums, I would highly suggest you keep a regular backup of your computer / iPhoto. And frankly if you care about your information having a backup is essential anyways.

IPhoto and MobileMe gallery

Since switching from MobileMe to iCloud I am unable to add a new album to my MobileMe gallery. If I do add a new album it is removed almost immediately.
I am also unable to 'share' it from MobileMe gallery before it is removed automatically almost immediately it is put on.
Could anybody explain why and how to fix this problem.

I would like to add to this thread. Same problems with updating to the iPhoto 11 and the "cloud". The photo's taken on my iPhone are displaying in my "Photo Stream", I add the photo's I want from the Photo stream to my iPhoto library stored locally, and then publish the album to mobile me.
Problem is, as soon as the seldected photo's are published to mobile me I go to the "web" pane on iPhoto in order to send an email to my friends that a new album is posted. As soon as I select "web" on the right hand selection pane in iPhoto 11, I receive the following:
iPhoto displays "The published album has been removed from Mobile me".
The album is saved from photo stream to my iPhoto album, but the selected photo's will not publish to mobile me. This is a problem with apples new Lion OS and iPhoto 11. One more example of how Apple has rolled out new products that are not ready. I moved from PC to Mac 10 years ago because of this same problem with PC software, now Apple has lost its way and is putting new software on the market that just doesn't work and I suspect the OS will become irrelevant agian if the company doesn't focus on what drew customers to their platform. So disappointed with Apple again...its becoming very common.

Editing titles on mobileme gallery

OK - this is a simple question... I have created albums that I have then posted to MobileMe. So in my source panel, there's a section for Events, Albums and MobileMe Galleries, amongst others. If I want to make changes to my album on MobileMe, do I do it all within the MobileMe Gallery section of my iPhoto or do it make the changes to the Album I used to create the gallery? For example, if I want to add titles to my photos, where should I do it? Is there a way to add titles in such a way that they are added to my iPhoto and to my MobileMe Gallery? Or was I supposed to add all the titles before I posted the album to MobileMe?
Same questions for adding/removing photos from the Album and MobileMe Gallery. Can I do it in one place to impact both? Sorry - I've had such trouble lately posting albums that I feel like I've forgotten how it's supposed to work.

Adding the title in any of those places will change all of them (set MobileMe to manual update first to avoid issues of making changes while it is automatically updating) - there is one and only one photo in iPhoto and it shows in the album, in the MobileMe gallery and the iPhoto library

removing a photo from the source album only removes it from that album
Removing a photo from the MobileMe gallery removed is from both the MobileMe gallery on MobileMe and in iPhoto
Removing a photo from the iPhoto library (event or photo view) and emptying the iPhoto trash removed the photo from all places - all albums, galleries, books and disk

How do I delete a MobileMe gallery?

How do I delete a MobileMe gallery? I open iPhoto where I created the album, right-clicked on the album to delete. Then I proceeded to watch an indicator dot with and arrow spin, and spin and spin. Finally the spinning stopped, but the album is still listed. Help! How do I remove these? This is also happening for Facebook albums I want to delete as well. Any thoughts?

If this is not working launch iPhoto while depressing the option(alt) and command (apple) keys and rebuild the library from the last automatic database backup
