Automatically completing address

I bought an iPhone last week and synched it with my iMac. Previously, as I typed a few letters in the "To" field of Apple's Mail software, all the alternatives would appear for me to choose and I could keep typing until only one was left. Now, that function is dead. I have to select from the Address list. I went to Mail > Preferences > Composing and made sure the "Automatically complete address" field was checked. It is. Beside it is "Configure LDAP" This I don't understand. I get a blank screen. Surely I don't have to add everyone in there one by one.
Help, anyone?

after typing in a few characters in any recipient field in mail I get the spinning beach ball for up to 20 seconds while mail tries to automatically complete the address, is there anyway to reduce the lag time without turning this feature off. I don't have any ldap setting configured.

The Mail.app saves all message recipients in the list of Previous Recipients in Mail and this list can grow over time especially if your sent a larger number of messages.
The address autofill feature pulls from the Address Book and the list of Previous Recipients in Mail.
At the Mail.app menu bar, go to Window and select Previous Recipients.
A previous recipient already entered in the Address Book will have a vCard icon to the left of the name or email address.
You can remove a previous recipient from the list or add a previous recipient to the Address Book that is not already entered.
It is a good idea to purge the list of Previous Recipients not entered or that you want or need to be entered in the Address Book from time to time.

"Automatically Complete Address" won't find Companies

I'm helping a friend who's using OS X Mail (1.3.11 (v622/624)) under OS X 10.3.9. She had a hard drive malfunction a few weeks ago and had to rebuild her address book. She claims that before the incident, mail would auto-complete addresses by both name and company. I can't get it to auto-complete by company any more. Is there a trick or is this not possible (i.e. she is mistaken about past functionality)?
For example, if I have a contact in Address Book with first/last of John Doe and Company ABC Co., I can get Mail to auto-complete if I type "Jo..." or "Do.." but if I type "AB.." I get nothing. I have tried with and without the "This is a company" flag checked.
Any advice?

I have tried what you have been trying, and only get it to work from the Address Fields "Work' or "Home". This is in Mail 1.3.11, same as you. If I get an e-mail from a Company and click the add button for Address Book, it puts it in the "Work" Field... being a new entry. However, if the e-mail address has the name of the company/person in front of it to look like this: ABC<[email protected]> you should be able to get it either way. Since you are looking for "e-mail addresses", it seems the Compose window only scans the [email protected] type of entries... with the "@". Mine also, if I put a letter in the address box, it puts in the first one it sees (or the last one I used), but if I wait a second all with that letter come up, then it is just to pick the one you want. I have a company name starting with D, if I put D in the address line, all that show is e-mail addresses starting with D, not the company.
The magic is the little @ symbol.

Mail:Automatically complete addresses: Incorrect name keeps coming up....

I realize that Mai+ uses the "previous" recipients list and the address book (and LDAP, if configured), but shouldn't it "learn" and suggest the moat used. How can I make Mail suggest the most used and correct name/email (mine!)?
I have removed all the emails from the "previous" recipients list and emailed myself several times, only to continue to have the incorrect names/emails pop up. Any ideas?

Thank you.....to be more precise....the id and password assigned to itunes is correct and works..but....when I hit 'update all' and get the small inset screen to sign iin....it is asking for a password to a different email address. I need it to use the icloud address I always use to puchase from itunes. I don\t know where it found this new email address?

Mail slow to automatically complete addresses- solution

After much trial and error and trying several suggestions from some of the archives in this list I believe I have come across another possible solution to the spinning beachball when trying at add an address to an email.
The issues stems from having changed an email account setup.- just changing settings instead of creating a new accont
If the name of the folder in your library mail folder ie ( [email protected]) doesn't math your actual email account settings ie [email protected] then this seems to cause some problems.
Solution- move all the email from your inbox and sent boxes to an "archive folder" Then delete the email account in question, quit and restart Mail and then recreate the account. This will force a new folder with the correct settings to be reated in your library mail folder.
Anyways this made a HUGE speed differnce for me with relation to adding address ( via autocomplete) to an email.

Tiger Mail to Leopard Mail - Auto Complete Addresses?

I've recently backed up my friend's complete Home folder from Tiger, along with all other Tiger assets required to hopefully make a smooth migration to Leopard.
NERD SCENARIO:
Apple Mail: My friend relied heavily on "Automatically complete addresses" in Apple Mail, otherwise known as Automatic Addressing, aka: auto complete TO: email addresses when typing a name. Unfortunately, when migrating to Leopard, he has now lost auto addressing after I migrated his old email (Inbox, Sent, Deleted, etc.) He's savvy, but not savvy enough to know to add his recipients to his Apple Address Book -- therefore Leopard Mail is only auto completing recent mail within this past week. I'm now trying to inform him to begin adding people to his Address Book so this doesn't happen again -- but it might be too late? He used to rely heavily on Auto Addressing to remember email addresses prior.
TRANSLATION:
1. How can I pull date or history from my backed up Mail folder from Tiger to import back into Leopard so "Auto Addressing" will remember email addresses prior?
2. Did I not backup his mail correctly? I burned an almost exact mirror of his hard drive to a DVD.
3. Has he lost his ability to auto address old email addresses? Since he didn't add them to his Address Book?

I just did the same thing, transferring all my data from Tiger to a new Leopard MacBook Pro, and now I can't access ANY of my addresses from my old address book, even tho I can see all the data sitting in Library... How the heck do I get the hundreds of addresses into my new address book? And, why won't my new Mail pick up all the Auto-Complete addresses from the old program if I transferred everything over?

In my case it seems that Firefox just doesn't "see" (or can't find?) the coupon printer application anymore after the FF update. (and yes, my add-ons are enabled - to answer the tech support people's first question).
For me, the coupon printer doesn't even show up in my Firefox "Add-Ons" list anymore. Is that what people typically see when they're saying the coupon printer "doesn't work" with FF? The coupon printer was visible on the add-ons list before my FF update, and now it's totally Gone! It seems that Firefox just doesn't "see" (or can't find?) the coupon printer application anymore since the FF update.
When I'm on the coupons.com site and I click "print coupons", it tells me I haven't installed the application. But it Is installed on my computer, I can see it in my folders, and it works on IE, so it's definitely there.
BTW - I have uninstalled/reinstalled the coupon printer application. I have tried all the suggestions on the Mozilla help/forum sites, as well as the Coupons.com web site. I have closed and re-started Firefox after the installation. I have also shut down and restarted my pc after installation. I tried installing the application with Firefox open, and tried it again with Firefox closed. I've even cleared out all my cookies/history associated with Coupons.com.
... I can't think of anything else to try, except for the "solution" of using IE for coupons.
If it Really is a problem on the Coupon.com end of things, do you think it's worth it if we bombard the coupons.com support team with messages saying they need to fix the problem? (or just a waste of time?) ;(

Automaticly entered address can't be found

everytime i enter a certain person's first letters in address field auto complete provides an address i can not find. when i go to contactbook and search for parts of the incorrect address they can not be found in contact book anywhere yet the incorrect address continues to be produced by the automatic completion feature. is there an email address database being maintained somewhere other than in standard contact database?

How do I make this stop: "..Safari automatically completes it.."

How do I make Safari stop offering "suggestions" when I'm typing in the address bar? "If you type part of an address, Safari automatically completes it with a matching address from your bookmarks or browsing history." Even if I clear history, it still digs things up from history, and I don't need to see all this clutter.
Where is the setting for this?

Sorry sanjampet but this isn't helpful. Your references to "all the auto fill stuff" and "the stuff to the right" aren't obvious. I'm not using the AutoFill button on my toolbar anyway. The view>cutomize toolbar dialog box doesn't contain anything called "stuff." Is this an attempt to be funny?

You didn't say what format the other phone will need to import a file into it. That is important.

How to deal with the automatic 6to4 addresses in the network

As we use public IPv4 address in our network, each computer automatically gets an 6to4 address. I understand after the World IPv6 Lauch, these computers may use the 6to4 address to talk to IPv6 enabled websites through the free and unmanaged 6to4 gateways on internet. This may cause unmanaged connectiviy issues. How to prevent this? How would you deal with this? Is there a way to stop these computers to get the automatic 6to4 addresses?

I know this may not be the answer you're looking for...
But what about considering implementing IPv6 within your network? (dual-stack)
When the computers have native IPv6 connectivity, they should always prefer using the native IPv6 connection rather than any of the tunneling mechanisms such as 6to4.
Instead of looking at this as a "unmanaged" problem, look at this as "managed" connectivity service.
So by enabling IPv6 within your network, you get two things done.
1) Your network steps into the future.
2) Your clients (managed and unmanaged) will have native connectivity to both IPv4 and IPv6 resources, just like you do with IPv4-only resources today, and then you don't have to worry too much about 6to4.

Automatically complete pending interactive activities within a process

What is the best approach for automatically completing pending interactive activities within a process?
Scenario: If you have two or more threads within a split-join and one thread completes all the defined activities whilst the other thread is still waiting for an interactive step to be completed, is there a programmatic way of completing outstanding tasks i.e remove them from the workspace task list and move then onto the next task
At the moment we have just configured the join activity to only wait for one process to complete but I was wondering if there was a way using the java api.

What I think you're asking is how to complete activities in the split so the instance can go onto the next activity after the join. If so then use just use
Action = RELEASE;
in the join. You'll need to surround this statement with appropriate conditional statements since the code in the join runs each time an instance copy (from one of the branches) reaches the join. You'll need to test to see if the instance is ready to proceed then do the action=release.
If this is not what you want then you may need to involve something more complex, like placing a Notification Interrupt in your process. By interrupting the interactive in a split/join, you can perform these activities from within the interrupt process flow:
OK / NONE      Indicates that PBL-Method execution was successful. This is the default value.
FAIL                Indicates that the PBL-Method has failed its execution. The PBL-Method must be executed again, if it is so required.
CANCEL           PBL-Method execution is aborted.
REPEAT           Indicates that the PBL-Method execution is successful, but not recorded as completed.
RELEASE           Ends the PBL-Method execution and releases the instance from this activity.
ABORT           Ends PBL-Method execution and aborts the entire process instance.
BACK           Ends PBL-Method execution and sends the instance back to the activity where the exception (or interruption) occurred.
SKIP                Ends PBL-Method execution and sends the instance back to the activity where the exception (or interruption) occurred and skips it.
Note the last one allows you to skip the interactive upon return and go to the next activity. Sorry I can't help any further. You may want to describe you're problem some more and perhaps we can help you better.

You should set a break-point in function module crm_order_maintain and manually close a follow on. By doing this you will see exactly what values you need to pass to the function module. You will also see that this function module will get fired a few times, depending on what processing you do to the follow up.
