Automatically create landscape album?

Is there any way of automatically selecting only landscape (or portrait) photos, and then deselecting specific ones to create an album?
Cheers!

  • Recovered Photos album automatically created, but no error messages.

Previously when I opened iPhoto, I received a message (or rather 2 {I believe} duplicate messages) about importing recovered photos. I clicked OK and it created a Recovered Photos album, but its contents were empty. I deleted this album by putting it into iPhoto's Trash. When I reopened iPhoto, I received the message again, but this time it created a "Recovered Photos 2" album.
I quit iPhoto and deleted the Import folder from my iPhoto Library. Now I don't get any messages, but the Recovered Photos (not Recovered Photos 2) album is still there. If I trash it and restart iPhoto, the it is automatically created again.
How can I stop iPhoto from automatically creating the Recovered Photos album? I'm not receiving any error messages or messages whatsoever.

Addendum to all about this question - I am trying to import my original CDs - hangs and does nothing at first track. Trashed the .plist, no help. Reinstalled fresh copy of iTunes - helped - FOR ONE DISK. After that, same problem.

  • Automatically create albums based on rolls?

My iPhoto photos are very well arranged by rolls. However, there isn't a way in other iLife programs or Front Row to browse by rolls. Is it possible for iPhoto to automatically create albums for each imported roll (with Automator or otherwise)?
    Thanks.

I don't use Automator much but all you need to do is to drag a roll icon into the Source pane to create an album with the same name as the roll.
If you import manually, i.e. a folder containing the image files, and drag the folder into the Source pane you'll create a roll and album with the same title as the folder you used to drag the photos with.
Now that iPhoto puts the originals in individual folders representing the rolls, there are a number of image browsers that will let you browser the roll folders that are located in the iPhoto Library/Originals folder. For example: QPict, ImagePlus, ImageBrowser, iFastViewer. However, remember Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder. All changes to the photos, moving, renaming must be done by iPhoto.
    Do you Twango?

  • Automatically create playlists from all albums

Is there a way to do this so that I can use list view and play one album at a time? I've looked on the list and searched on the web.
I know you can make album play lists easily, but only one at a time, by hand. I mean to simply get all them in one move.
I know that the grid view gives you the equivalent, but the grid view consumes so much memory that it turns the computer into an expensive CD player. The cost of looking at all those little pictures runs to about 200 megs of memory for me, and that creates a difficulty for me. (Strange as it seems, I work on this machine, too.)
In list view, iTunes does a great job, keeping memory use within 50 megs -- no problems there.
When I moved my music from one file server to another, I lost my playlists. I had the xml file that other programs can use, but not apparently not iTunes to re-create playlists. Now I face the trouble of rebuilding them hand. It would be trivial to rewrite that xml file to change all the file paths, but I did not see a way importing the entire collection of playlists.
It would seem to me that internally the iTunes database maintains an album by album list of songs (to show you in the grid view). One more step would loop through these and create playlists that show up in list view, eh?
My favorite music player is Linux-only -- Rhythmbox -- which just gives automatically artist and album playlists, and keeps within 60 megs of memory. I tried the new Mozilla offering, Songbird, which is only in beta and has its own rough spots, but it, too, automatically gives you artist and album playlists. I don't know about the Windows players.

    Barry

Why don't you use the Browser, you can filter your list view right down to a single album using it. Go to View>Show Browser to make it visible. Alternatively press the Command (⌘) and B keys together.

  • ITunes 11: simply clicking on an album automatically creates an UP NEXT playlist

    hello iTunes 11 early adopters!
    iTunes 10.7 situation:
when i choose (click) a different genre, artist, album etc. a song from that clicked genre, artist, album etc. won't play automatically, until i click PLAY.
    iTunes 11 situation:
when i choose (click) a different genre, artist, album etc. a song from that clicked genre, album, artist etc.Up Next WILL automatically create a playlist depending on the chosen album, artist etc.
to stop Up Next from doing this, i need to click on the Up Next icon and click CLEAR.
    so my question is:
is there a workaround for this? or a way to stop this behaviour?
am i the only one annoyed with this?

Oh sorry - just answered my own question - somehow the songs were marked "Skip on shuffle" (went to "Get Info" for all songs, under Options....not sure how they got marked that way, but the issue seems to be resolved on both Mac and iPhone....

  • Automatically Created New Playlist & Lost Album Covers

I just plugged in my new Nano last night and immediately had issues. After I updated the software, it immediately started syncing everything, even the unchecked titles. Okay. I fixed that.
Everything was looking good, the coverflow was working beautifully, but I noticed that none of my previously created ITunes' playlists had synced.
It had automatically created a new playlist with, I believe, all the music in my library, but none of my previously created playlists showed up anywhere. So, I removed this big playlist and synced again. This caused all the music dissappear from my IPod. So, I reset everything and started over again.
It once again created that new big playlist, but this time, all the album cover artwork has dissappeared. I can still see the cover artwork in my ITunes, but it is not displayed on my IPod.
Someone told me that it might be an issue with the fact that both my old and new IPod's have the same name. If this is correct, how do I change my new IPod's name. It automatically chose its own name.
    Help!

Sounds like your iTunes library is larger than the iPOd can hold. When this happens, iTunes will create a playlist which fits.Do this...
    Select the iPod.
    Click the Music tab.
    Tick *Sync music*.
Choose *Selected playlists* in the drop down and pick which playlists you want then click Apply.
To change the iPod name, slect it in iTunes, then click on it's name, like a slow double click.

  • Working on iPad2, I can create new albums from digital camera imports in Photos; however, when the album is automatically imported into iPhoto, it has lost its custom photo or ding and replaced it with a chronological order. How do I reorder them?

Is there a way to preserve the album order and format when it moves from Photos to iPhoto for easy export sharing or advanced sideshow treatments? Can I create the albums on the iPad in iPhoto and format with custom photo ordering? Or do I have to carry and work in Mac?

This is normal and is how Apple handles photos.
    There are NOT duplicate photos.
Just as a song is in your itunes library and you can access that exact same song from a playlist,  all  photos synced to iphone are in the photo library and those exact same photos (NOT duplicates) can be accessed from the individual albums.
It is working exactly as it should.

  • How do I stop iTunes from automatically sorting by Album Artist?  Driving me crazy.

How do I stop iTunes from automatically sorting by Album Artist?  Driving me crazy.
I listen to primarily classical music
All of my music was very deliberatley titled by composers "Last Name, First Name" as the artist.
iTunes is changing it to the Album Artist.  I have to go in and delete that information - AND THEN IT LATER REVERTS IT BACK!!!
Hours have been wasted and I am feeling so ticked.
    Any help?

    Purchased or ripped media?
If these are ripped mp3s then another possibility is multiple embedded tags. iTunes works best with a single ID3v2.3 tag. Some software creates both an ID3v1.0 and IDv2.x tag. With multiple tags it is not certain which iTunes reads or which it updates, and any device may choose differently. Once songs have the correct info. in iTunes you can use Convert ID3 Tags... None several times, then Convert ID3 Tags... v2.3. The process removes any embedded art but otherwise preserves the data that iTunes knows. You could use my script CreateFolderArt before and after to save and then restore the artwork.
In the long run you may be better off populating Album Artist properly with a copy of whatever is currently in Artist. My script CopyArtistToAlbumArtist can do this effectively.

  • How do I stop iTunes from automatically changing artist, album.....?

How do I stop iTunes from automatically changing artist, album, and genre names?
I keep my itunes library folder very organized. You wont find the same artist spelled two different ways in it. But itunes automatically changes the artists, album names, and genres for whatever reason, making it so I have to edit my library all over again.

    No, don't check it!
That is the only setting that would let itunes change file names. Read right underneath it - itunes will create files & folders based on artist & album name.
Something else must be changing your files, then - not iTunes.
Every PC comes with WIndows Media Player. Go into that and uncheck the options to retreive internet info for albums. It's in 2 places, on the Library tab and the Privacy tab.

  • When I create an album and then try to watch it in slideshow, I get only a black screen with a white title.  No photos come up.  Also when I click on an individual photo in the album, I get a white exclamation point on a black background but no big photo.

When I create an album of photos and then open the album and try to watch it by selecting "slideshow" I get only a black screen.  The white title comes up briefly but then no photos, only a black screen.  Also when I go back to the album and click on a thumbnail, up comes a big white exclamation point on a black background instead of the enlarged photo.  Any idea what's going on?

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Can I create an album on my iphone and have it stores all the photos I take from then on to that folder/album?

can I create an album on my iphone and have it stores all the photos I take from then on to that folder/album?
I think that would be super useful before you go to an event, create a folder on the phone for that event and just use it to take pictures.  All the pictures for the event will be in that album and no need to move pics around at a later time!

That would be great, but unfortunately, all new pictures automatically go into the Camera Roll.
I wish that once you created an album and selected it to import from the Camera Roll, it would delete from the Camera Roll.

  • Is there a program that automatically creates smart playlists

    Hi,
I recently had my Itunes music library file damaged/corrupted, hence i lost all my playlists.
Before I spend 4/5 hours recreating my playlists I wondered if anyone knew if there was a program in cyberspace somewhere that would automatically create all my smart playlists by taking the song name/albumn name information from the songs in my itunes library folder?
    I hope you can help

What exactly are you looking to create? Smart playlist with what criteria?
It sounds like you want to create album playlists? If so, why? What's wrong with using the browser? ( View..Show Browser)

  • Creating Photo Album

I've tried creating a photoalbum through Dreamweaver 8 and
Fireworks 6. When I click to create album, Photoshop automatically
opens and I get message saying unable to create -- Photoshop
doesn't recognize file type (I've tried using .jpg and .png). It's
my understanding that DW should automatically create using
Fireworks. I've set my preferences in DW to open .jpg & .png
    files with Fireworks. Please help.
    Thanks!

It's not possible I'm afraid. It has to be done on the computer and then the folders ( albums ) synced with the iPad through iTunes.

  • Create smart album with ONLY some faces

Hi. I need some help here. I created a smart album and I want it to have photos where only my girlfriend and I appear. I put two conditions: Face-is-my_name, and Face-is-mygirlfriend'sname. The problem is that it creates the album but it also contains photos where we and someone else appears, not only the two of us. Is there any way I can get it done?
    Thanks for your posts.

Yes, I said to meet ALL conditions, and my smart album is in fact just like you said, with photos that have both of us but also other people.
But I get it, the only way to exclude other people is specifically by name. I just wanted to know if there was another "more automatic" way. Thanks a lot LarryHN.
