Automatically delete imported photos from memory card

I cant find this option anywhere, and with other photo management systems it's a fairly standard option, but how do you automatically delete the photos off the memory card once you have successfully imported them??

You don't. LR is conservative about destroying stuff, and wants you to put the card back into the camera to clear it.

  • How do i import photos from memory card

I just bought a digital camera and apparently my battery died before I transferred the photos and now I can't.  I'm afraid I will lose the photos if I replace the battery to charge it and need to upload the photos but have no idea where I even find whatever this memory card reader is and can't find any info. Please help

Thanks,  Larry.  I was so dumb and scared because I had read something somewhere about some camera that said not to remove the battery before downloading photos.  I couldn't remember WHERE I had read it and was scoring my camera's  manual and my emails  to see where I had read that.  Finally found it last night and it was some piece of crap kiddie camera.  So I went ahead and charged the battery and was able to load my photos this a.m.  Thanks! I may be looking to you for more advice.     I was trying  to click on helpful  answer for you and gave myself one.  See why I need help?

  • How do I remove photos from memory card after I have uploaded photos?

We have iPhoto 11.  How do delete photos from a memory card after they have been uploaded in to iPhoto?
    Thanks.

    delete the iPhoto preference file
HOWEVER a best practice to is to never have any computer program (including iPhoto) delete the photos from the card but to import the photos and keep them and then after at least one successful backup cycle has completed and then reformat the card --  I use three very large (32 GB) cards in rotation so I do not reformat for typically a year or more giving me one more long term backup of my photos
If you continue letting the computer delete your photos you will lose them sooner or later
You pays your money and makes your choice - but you are playing a very risky game with no rewards

  • I can't import photos from microSD card.

I can't import photos from MicroSD card. I have an Android phone and it's getting too full. I have to import the photos into iPhoto ASAP. First I tried using the Android Transfer Files app to transfer the photos directly from my phone and it didn't work. So I inserted a microSD card into my phone and transferred photos onto that. Used a card reader through USB and still nothing. iPhoto shows absolutely nothing loading using either method. I have a Mac OS X 10.7.5. My phone can't take anymore photos. I've contacted AT&T, Apple, Pantech, and Android and not a single person could help me. A guy from Pantech actually told me I should have got an iPhone. I told him if I could have afforded it I would have. NEED YOUR HELP PLEEEEEASE!!!  Thank you so much for any help you can give.

Copy the photos from the card to a folder on the desktop. Then import them from there to iPhoto. If that works you can delete them from the card.

  • I can't import photos from a card, file or anything.  I get "could not copy a file to the requested location"..  This has never happened before.

I can't import photos from a card, file or anything.  I get "could not copy a file to the requested location".  I have never had this happen before.  I use a MacBook Pro

I also have the exact same issue.  New IMac, installed LR, imported approximately 900 photos no problem, across the network from a Windows PC.   The import stopped when the network connection was lost.   Now I cannot import for the same reason "could not copy a file to the requested location".  I have plenty of disk space and i have permission to the needed folders.   I cannot even import from a folder already on the IMac.

  • IPhoto hung importing photos from SD card and is now not responding

Importing photos from SD card (canon raw format) and iPhoto hung and is no longer responding have to firce quit to get out of it.  Suggestions on reinstalling iPhoto. or?

I was able to resolve the issue through forcing the image capture program to quit through the activity monitor and reboot the machine and everything seems to function fine now.  Imported the pics, all 240 of them in RAW format.

  • Imported photos from sd card not showing in events

iPhoto 9.6: after importing photos from SD card, they do not appear in Events nor Last Import. They DO appear in Photos and Last 18 Months. How can I get them into Events?

they are  in an event - every photo is - you are not finding them
Photos and events are simply different views of the exact same photos - anything in one is also in the other
Most common causes are a bad sort of events - fix using the view menu ==> sort events and set your desired sort
Or  --  a bad date on the camera - to fix set the camera correctly and select the photos already imported with the bad dates and use the adjust time/date command to fix
You also can right click on one in Photos and select who event from the resulting menu to see where it is

  • Importing photos from SD card to Blackberry OS10 device

Is there a way of importing photos from SD card directly to Blackberry Z10 using card reader and USB OTG cable (ie. not using a PC ) ? My camera has no WIFi or NFC. Thank you.

    Hi!
I don't understand You clearly, I think. Why do You need cardreader if Z10 just has SD slot? Anyway, Z10 hasn't USB OTG at all. Z30 and Passport only have that feature.

  • Import photos from SD Card into a library with referenced masters

    I have the following problem:
I would like to migrate from Aperture (that I used for the past couple of years) to Photos for OS X. (Well, let's say I feel kind of forced to  by Apple's decision to abandon Aperture and since I do not like to switch to Lightroom (which I fear will soon be available via Adobe's Cloud system!)). I successfully migrated my Aperture library to Photos. My library is a 'referenced library', i.e. a library where the original photos ('masters') are NOT inside the library but stored in a separate location. In my case the original photos are stored on a NAS. Photos recognizes all my photos and by right-clicking on a photo I can select the 'Show in Finder' option and Photos correctly shows then the location of the corresponding photo on the NAS. So far so good.
The  problem arises when I want to import new photos from the camera (or its SD card). I plugin the SD card into the Mac and fire up Photos. Then I click on 'Import'. I do not succeed in importing the photos from the SD card in a way that the original files (masters) are copied to the NAS (the place where I keep my masters). In fact when I import then everything (also the master files) are copied into the library (which is located on the Mac's internal SSD.) This happens despite I have deselected "Copy objects into photo library" in the Photos app Preferences.
(Another problem is that, with Aperture, I could import photos from the SD card in a way that the originals were copied to the NAS, renamed appropriately (e.g. <date>-<time>.JPG and put automatically in an Aperture-created folder structure (year/month/day). I fear that the only way to keep on working with 'referenced' masters will be by NOT using Photos' Import function directly for the import from the SD card, but first to copy 'manually' (using the Finder) the photos from the SD card to the NAS (after having created year, month, day folders manually) and then to use Photos Import function. Is this really the sad truth?
Another problem is: When I delete a photo from the library, it will NOT be deleted from the masters! :-(
Has anybody experienced the same problems?
    Cheers
    Rainer

    The SanDisk website has a PDF owner's guide that says the following;
Macintosh Disk Icons: When you connect the MicroMate Reader/Writer on a Macintosh operating system, a removable disk icon labeled
“untitled” representing the MicroMate Reader/Writer will show on the desktop when a card is inserted.
It also has directions to drag the removable disk icon labeled “untitled” to the trash to remove the disk. There is also a support link to a ebox page on a secure site that won't let me go farther (I think I need a newer browser), so I can't find drivers.
My problem is that the icon doesn't show up and I can't find it in any applications I try. I know the Disney camera is a toy, its for my 5 year old, but I am having the identical problem with both the Disney camera and SanDisk.

  • Cannot import photos from SD card into USB card reader after 10.4.10 update

Prior to the 10.4.10 update, I used a USB media card reader to import photos from my Canon camera's SD card and it worked fine. I just tried to do that for the first time since I installed the 10.4.10 update, and now the memory card doesn't show up in iPhoto as a disk from which to import photos.
I'm back to transferring pictures through the cable, which is a bit of a pain and a waste of a new media card reader. Is there a way to restore this ability to use the card reader?
Note: I switched from Windows to Mac in February 2007, and except for having to hunt for media card readers that work with the Mac and a few kernel panics due, I think, to a problem with my Logitech mouse drivers, it's been pretty painless.
Intel iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   C2D 2.16 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 250 GB hard drive

This problem is not generic to 10.4.10 -- but it is specific to Intel based Macs. I have the same problem with a Zynet 8-in-1 USB-2.0 card reader. It fails to mount on 10.4.10 Intel based Macs but works fine on 10.4.10 PPC macs (and on 10.3.9 PPC too)
It is very annoying because connecting through my phone is very slow, especially when updating 2GB of MP3s.
The reader, with card inserted, is recognized, but no storage media is seen and of course it does not mount as a disk device like it should:
    USB Storage Device:
    Version: 1.00
    Bus Power (mA): 500
    Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec
    Manufacturer: Generic
    Product ID: 0x3260
    Serial Number: 20030903213338562
    Vendor ID: 0x0aec
There are no relevant error messages.
I hope Apple's reading these posts -- this sounds like a major, but all too common, FUBAR in the driver code. A fast fix would be very much appreciated!

  • Importing contacts from memory card

Have recently got new 5800 after mine got wet. The new one is slightly different and I have put my memory card from old one into new phone.
I can't seem to find the right route to import my numbers off my memory card.
I'm sure the card is not corrupted as it had all my music on which automatically transfered when I opened real player.

file manager>double click the memory card>option>copy contacts>from memory card...
this is how i remembered doing it.

  • Cannot import photos from CF card (raw) LR 2.5

After i installed 2.5 update, suddenly LR will not import photos from my CF cards.  These raw files can be seen with preview, but when I try to import them Lightroom seem to be converting images to DNG, but after that process message appears saying that LR could`.t import  I have tried rebooting the iMac running Leopard O.S., but it made no difference.  I also tried deleting the Lightroom preference file, that didn`t help eather.
CF cards are working perfectly with 2,4 version, on MacBook Pro..
    Does anybody have a solution?

I thought so too, but images was not to find on my hard drive..
Funny thing is when i tried to import regular JPG files from some other SD card, it worked perfectly.
I always shoot in raw, and i always choose to convert to DNG while importing.
I am suspecting that it might be something wrong with this new raw update!
The exact massage i get after LR has converted to DNG:
"Could not copy a file to the requested location"
under that all of de NEF files are listed

  • Delete imported photos from iPhone camera roll?

In iPhoto, after importing photos from my iPhone I would get a prompt to delete the photos that had just been imported from the camera roll. Since the Photo Stream was implemented though, most photos would have already been imported through iCloud before I connected the phone to my Mac. iPhoto would then give an option to remove all photos that had already been imported.
The new Photos app no longer appears to have this option. I can tick to delete items after import, but I can't automatically remove all items in the camera roll that have already been imported. If I go and manually delete those photos from the camera roll on the phone, it also deletes them from the Photo Stream, and they disappear on my Mac and iPad as well.
I'm not subscribed to iCloud Photo Library. How can I make sure that all my photos continue to import onto my Mac and stay there, without keeping all the originals on the phone forever?

Yes... a real surprise (not a pleasant one)
Only workaround I know of (and have used already in testing and getting setup) is to use the Image Capture app in your main Applications folder (a standard OS X utility).
After you've imported your pictures manually from your iPhone to Photos, you can run this app and then delete what you will.
I imagine the reason for this is that PhotoStream should be taking care of this. You don't need to have the iCloud Library turned on for this to work, and photos should import automatically.
However, there are three issues with this:
Buggy: I found (at least prior to iOS 8.3) that not all of my photos on my iPhone went to the Photo Stream... never did find out why some didn't make it.
Buggy again: Many people are having issues with the latest releases getting Photo Stream to sync from an iPhone
You don't want your photos in Apple's domain.
In which case, using another app to mass delete your photos on your iPhone is (for now), your only choice.
Let Apple know if you want: http://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html

  • Can you help me delete imported photos from iPhone (4s) running ios 7?

I made (what appears to be) the mistake of importing photos from my PC to my new iPhone 4s using itunes.  They now seem to be permanent occupants.  I can select them (in the "Moments" view in the Photos app)  but the trash can on lower right is always grayed out.  It appears that in ios 6 they could be deleted in the Settings/General/Usage (I also synced over some music which is deletable here).  Can anyone help me?

Thank you razmee, I will give that a shot and get back to you.  I was just looking at that grayed out trashcan icon an thinking there was probably a way to light it up.

  • Lightroom stopped importing photos from cf card and other programs

The program just stalls when I try to import photos from Thumbs or the CF card.  When I hit on help I got this error:
Database"C/.....\Lightroom Catalot.Ircat":     PRIMARY KEY must be unique
Statement:  INSERT INTO AgLibrary TagImage(id_local, flattenedParams, image, pick, postitionInCollection, tag, tagKind)
    VALUES(?,?,?,?,?,?,?,);
What's going on?  Is there something wrong with my catalogue?  I attached a screen shot of the error I got above
when I tried to hit the help option in the menu.
    Please Help!
    THanks.

Catalog is corrupted. STart a new catalog or restore catalog from backup if you have a fresh one. If you have done too much work to lose since the last catalog backup, try sending it to Dan Tull ([email protected]) - he might help.
