Automatically find home wi-fi at login

"Somehow" for the past week my Network System Preferences aren't automatically finding my home w-fi so I have to do it manually each time that I start up.
I tried to figure out which setting needs to be changed or changed back to how it was. I have my home network at the top of my preferred networks.
The first Preference Screen in Network has a drop-down to choose "Automatic" which is selected; under the Options, there is another drop down to choose either "Preferred networks" or "Automatic" changing this back and forth doesn't change the situation - still have to manually start the home network.
I tried looking at the network preferences in my other Mac (10.5) but the format and options are different so I may not have tried all of the possibilities.
Suggestions? Thanks

Hi Rick,
Go to System Preferences
Click Network
Highlight AirPort and click Configure...
Choose “By default, join: Preferred networks”
Select your access point and Remove your access point with the minus button.
Launch your keychain access in Utilities and delete your access point keychain entry.
Reboot
Go back to the “By default, join:” page and click the plus this time to add your access point. Enter the correct password, save, reboot.

  • Can't find home drive after reinstallation of O.S.X

    Dear friends,
I have one ibook G4 and a Macbook Pro. Two days ago, the ibook G4 failed to start up, I tried in safe mode then pass through. Then I run Onyx-automation followed by restart, after that neither my desktop nor the sidebar of the finder window show the home drive icons,( I partitioned the internal hard disk into two drives). But when I run Disk utility and found both are there correctly, including the files and capacity, usage etc. it tested both drives "appears OK". Yesterday, I tried to reinstall O.S.X Tiger 10.4 without removing previous system via a firewire to my Macbook Pro which installed with Leopard( the disc drive of my ibookG4 corrupted last year).
finally, the hard drives are still invisible, I did tick the display options for hard disks from the preference panel of Finder. To the worse, the same problem happened to my Macbook Pro after I restarted it.
It seems a simply software issue, physically the hard disks are ok through the disk verify and permission verify.
    Headache! Please advise ASAP.
    thank you,

what happens when you enter commandshiftc in finder? that should show all the drives. if it doesn't, maybe the drive has acquired the hidden flag. run the following command in terminal
    sudo chflags 0 /
you'll have to enter your admin password which you won't see as you type it. that's normal. see if the drive shows up.

    hi, V.K.
after running the two commands, suddenly, The Macintosh HD icon showed up at both desktop and sidebar in finder, but the other drive (I partition into two parts) still not showing. Then I open Onyx and tick the "unhidden those hidden files", I found that drive. So I conclude it was hidden by sth. But I don't know how to unhidden it, the icon always in grey.
    Can you please instruct again.
    thank you.

aha, so it was a hidden flag after all. then run
    sudo chflags 0 /volumes/*
you may need to restart after that to make the second drive show up.

I don't have a source attribute for this (maybe I wrote it myself!):
There are visibility toggling instructions at [this web site|http://www.pinkmutant.com/articles/invisible.html] using Terminal or Applescript.
If you don't like Applescript or Terminal there is an application called [JuhOS X|http://www.saunalahti.fi/~juhruo/juhosx> that lets you toggle visibility on individual items. It does not have the most intuitive interface but your drive should appear on the first page. Check it really is invisible, then click on the drive and toggle visibility. Effects will not take place until you restart your finder, so the easiest thing to do then will be to restart your computer.

  • How to set up automatic connection to a router's login page

When I try to use a public wifi (say at the library) that requires a simple login, my Firefox does not automatically seek the login page. How can I make that automatic? Of course, I am manually connecting to the router and opening my Mozilla, but it simply times out because it finds nothing. In order to make it work, I always have to type in IP address. How do I make Mozilla automatically find the login page once connected to the router?

    jscher2000,
I tried your suggestions: (i) When I clicked a bookmarked page (wsj.com) it continued to spin its wheels and ultimately timed out. (ii) Ctrl+Shift+r did absolutely nothing also.
Also, I tried your suggestions in both Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer to no avail.
There must be a simple setting in either of the two browsers options menus that tells it to automatically seek out a router's login page. Why would this not be occurring on my four month old laptop.
    Thanks for helping.

Not sure if anyone can help, but we have 2 i-tunes libary's on our computer. Mine works fine, the itunes libary, will import the CD, and find the song names and the art work all automatically on my libary, but when my husband then switches to his libary, the libary will not automatically find art work or song names. If he presses get song names it does then find them, but it still wont find artwork at all, we have checked the settings on both systems and it seems to be exactly the same? any ideas???

Is his library connected to the internet or the itunes store? And are you working on the same computer?

  • Set fixed speed for finding home!

Hi, I am using a 7344 card. Right now in my program @ certain times/conditions i have moving @ certain speed. How can i use the find home function to move at a fixed speed when i call it to search for home because i saw that it moves @ different speed when it search for home or perhaps it follows the speed of the last movement?
    Thanks

    Hi Becks,
Find Home will use the previously loaded values for acceleration, velocity, and s-curve for the initial search. The finer part of finding home (when it looks for a particular edge) is done at a fixed low-speed at approximately 1/4 RPS.
If you want to find home to always run at a fixed speed, you will need to load new values for velocity and acceleration before executing Find Home.
    Hope this helps.

Try ditching Dreamweaver and switching to Notepad ++, less bugs, less control from big brother, more nimble, less crashes ... simply better than this pile of junk.
Ok - put your style sheet in a separate file and link it.
If you're going to use styles then don't use attributes if you can get away with it.  (Have a look at CSS Zen garden - such a great site.  May be a little complicated for a beginner, but it gives you something to aim for.)
Ditch the table format - it makes everything far, far more complicated; try using DIVs instead.
NEVER nest tables if you can at all avoid it.  Usually you can - it's just a case of looking at column and row spans.
NEVER use something like DreamWeaver in design mode - it's a huge waste of time.
Try starting with something more basic and build it up a step at a time.  Test every change stage by stage - if you're painting a picture you never paint the whole thing then take a step back and look, you always paint a piece, step back and look, paint another piece etc...
Most importantly - research which setting (relating to tags, CSS and attributes) actually performs what operation, and which affects which browser.  The classic example of this is the Internet Explorer 6.0 box model problem.
But most importantly, ditch DreamWeaver.  Hell!  VI is better!

I haven't watched that video, but if you move photos in your operating system ... Lightroom does NOT automatically find these photos. Finding photos that have been moved is NOT a feature of Lightroom. So, there is no fix for this.
You would have to tell Lightroom where the photos are now located, as explained in the link from 99jon
If you must move photos, move them inside of Lightroom, not in your operating system, or better yet — don't move them, and use Lightroom tools such as keywords and other metadata to achieve organization.

  • Finds HOME and moves a bit more

using steppers in open-loop mode, when executing a Find Home, the axis

What you see is expected and intended behavior. Find Home is not a
single move but a sequence of moves. A home switch provides four
positions where to stop the axis. This behavior is well documented in
    the NI-Motion help files.
Here is an example (copied from the NI-Motion VI Help):
As shown in the following figure, this Find Home sequence searches
for the home input in the forward direction (1). When the home input is found,
the reverse edge (2) is located. When the reverse edge is located, this edge is
approached in the forward direction (3).
    I hope that helps.

  • Why can't i find Home Sharing on my iPhone 4?

I want to enable Home Sharing on my iPhone but it isn't listed in my phone to connect to Home Sharing. Also my iPhone is from Verizon...

Actually modular747 your right i don't have a question.  I was responding to the original poster as to why he can't find home sharing on his iphone.  And you misquote me, I did not call you lying apple employees.  Maybe you should read my posts.  But let me quote myself for you since you won't read,
"If they are liars about the iPhone 4 on their website they don't mind lying about iOS 5.  Telling a half truth is still a lie."
And I asked if wjosten was an Apple employee.  If you don't tell the truth, what are you? A liar.  If you murder someone what are you?  A murderer.  So I am just saying if Apple Inc. tells half truths then to me they are still liars.  Thats all.  I did find the link useful though. At the top of it it leads prospective users to believe this statement.
The world’s most advanced mobile operating system keeps getting better. Download the free iOS 4.3 Software Update and get new features that let you do even more with your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The software update is free. It’s easy. And you can download it right now.
Funny that even at the bottom of the page it doesn't mention a difference between AT&T or Verizon phones.
