Automatically logs off

Hi there,
So ever since I've updated my computer from 10.2.4 to 10.2.8, no matter what I'm doing or program I'm in; it automatically logs out. Then brings me back to the same password menu I enter when I turn my computer on. What's going on??? I have no idea where I can go to fix this.
Thx for any help!

Hi,
I posted this pic for other purposes but what settings do you have in the lower section ?
Technically AIM Accounts can have Four or so "States".
Off line is obviously one.
Available is another  (with or without an Status Message).
Away is another.
Idle whilst Available is yet another (you can see these iChat and Messages Buddies and they can see you as Amber blobs)
Idle whilst Away is not displayed separately within iChat or Messages Buddy lists.
There is also Invisible.
On some laptops you have an option to power down Apps to save power/battery.
I don't have a laptop that can run Mavericks so I am not sure where the Setting might be.
Start with Energy Saver in System Preferences.

I don't think there is an option for logging off in the Hot Corners, but check Mission Control System Prefs, Hot Corners button. What is set in the top, left.

  • Why Does iChat AV Automatically log off?

I've recently got myself a MacBook Pro 15" 2.16GHz. Everything I do on my G4 PowerBook is the same on my MacBook Pro, but faster.
However, when I use iChat on my MacBook Pro and the screen goes into sleep mode I am automatically logged out of iChat, even if I have set my status to Away. Just for your info, I'm using my .Mac account.
On both of my PowerPC Macs, when using iChat I can quite happily let the screen go into sleep mode without being logged out. So what's changed?
All ideas and suggestions gratefully received.

Looking at the Optimization Normal settings in Energy Saver, both the computer and the display are set to sleep after 10 minutes. I've changed my Screen Saver settings so that it starts after 5 minutes.
The problem always seems to be when I return back to my MacBook Pro and it has gone to sleep. If I set my status in iChat to Away, when I return to my computer and wake it up, iChat AV automatically logs me off and then reconnects me.
If I do the same thing on my G4 PowerBook or PowerPC Mac Mini, because I have changed my iChat General Prefs to "Ask What to do" when I return to my computer and wake it up I get a dialogue box where I can change my status to Available or keep it as Away. This is what I expected to see when using iChat AV on my MacBook Pro, but it doesn't seem to happen.

  • Since Yosemite upgrade, my iMac automatically logs off.

After the upgrade to Yosemite from Mavericks, my iMac (2011) will log off my account after a certain amount of time.  The preference to do so is NOT checked. I have tried checking that preference, logging out and in and then deselecting that choice, logging out and in (this seemed to be advice to help other issues).  Nothing seems to keep it from doing so.  It is my Administrator account (the computer's at my house, so I'm not concerned with unauthorized access).  My laptop, also upgraded from Mavericks, does not have this issue.  I have installed at least one update since the initial release.
    Any help??

Is Do Not Disturb turned on? Do you see a quarter-moon icon up top in the status bar?

  • I want to stop my account from automaticly logging off from inactivity

I use Final Cut Express alot and i often have big jobs for it that take hours or even days of processing. Obviously i dont sit at my laptop and watch it render/save the big file, but whenever i leave it, by the time i come back it says "could not log out because FCE failed to quit" (becuase it wanted to ask me if i wanted to save). Im not sure if it is still processing the project after it tries to log off so id like to turn off this function (only when nessicary, not permanently) if possibe.
    Is there a way?
    -Thanks

  • Post reboot required login automatical & log off

    Hi Techies,
I’m new to powershell scripting world,
I need a script for post reboot automatically log particular user account in to the server and launch application & logoff automatically.
Thanks for your help on this.
    Regards,
    SreeM

I believe the installer has a mechanisms to do a full login.  Some items in an install will only be applied during a full login.  If this is the case then use an installer script.  Only old installers will require this. See vendor for updated
    product.

  • Session time out and automatic log off

    hi,
I have been using JSC for a while but I am not JSC guru.
I want to implement automatic logoff when the session timesout. I know that I can set session time out in tomat web.xml file. but I cant understand how to check if the session time is out and logOff the user.
When user logs in, username is stored in the database, so when the user logoff the username has to be deleted from the database and he should be redirected to the login page. I want all this to be done automatically when session times out(i.e if the user is inactive for specified amount of time).
Any help is greatly appreciated. Please reply ASAP, i need to get this working by tommorow.

  • Itunes can remain on if my computer automatically logs off?

My computer logs out after 15/20 min of no activity.  I'm fine with that.  I cannot seem find the settings (if they exist) to have ITunes remain on.  And, I cannot find where I set my Airport Wireless to disconnect upon log out as well.  & no, I'm not putting either in my user accounts start-up items because bad things always happen to apps when they are stared this way.
    Thank you please.
    CAT
P.S. If there is way to set that, what about setting radio stations that could automaticall come on when ITunes was activated?

You don't.  If the shared library is not on a computer that is powered on and connected to the network, it cannot share its content.

  • How do I reset the automatic log-in?

Originally my MacBook would remain on-line until I decided to log off. Now it automatically logs off after a short period of time (~15 minutes) and I need to log on again to get the Internet up and running. This is messing up my downloading as some files require over an hour to download and I do not want to babysit the computer to keep it logged on. What have I done and can I undo it?

Is the user logging out or is the internet disconnecting after 15 minutes?
If the user is logging out go to System Preferences > Security and there is an option to log-out after a specified time period inactive, uncheck that box.

  • W510 Windows 7 (64) automatically Logs off

When my computer is not active, Windows 7 (64) automatically Logs off after 20min. It does not into hibernation, standby or powers down, but logs off to the log-in screen that requires me to log in again.
Like many others I have had power management problems out of the box with the W510.  Reinstalling the OS and returning to the original BIOS solved most of the problems but not this particular logging off issue. I am begining to think it could be the system board at this point.   Any recommendations?

    Hi GFABIANO,
when you did the OS reinstallation, was it a direct factory restore or a OS repair? Also is your image a default Lenovo image or your office image?

  • BEx query logging off

    Hello All,
I am trying to execute a query in BEX. It does execute but after 10-15 minutes, I get automatically logged off.
The SAP GUI 710 and patch level is 16. What might be the problem?
And what role does the .dll file play in these query executions?
    Kindly help.
    Regards,
    NIKEKAB

    Hi NIKEKAB & PRASHANTHK
Sorry to jump into your conversation, but i was wondering is this really a missing .dll issue?? or there is problem with query itself.
NIKEKAB are you able to run any other query or you can't run any query at all??
if you can run other query, then go to RSRT and then try to run this query with execute & debug with option "do not supress messages" there you can what exactly the problem is.
there could be possibility that if any the query changed, or some of the query elements not available then BEx will disconnect. but as u said it runs for 10-15 min then i doubt this could be the reason.
another possibility is there could be some objects which you dont have authorizations to use, but even in this case it wont run for 10-15min, you can see this in RSRT as well.
If you can give us more info that will be helpful to figure out what exactly the reason is.
    Best Regards
    Robyn.

  • Continually having to swipe my finger, how to delay log off

I have an X301 Vista 64. Every10 minutes I am automatically logged off and have to swipe my finger to gain access to my computer. Where is the setting to change this?  I have searched everywhere including the BIOS.
    Thanks,
    Greg
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi Greg and welcome to the forum,
Are you actually logged off or is the computer just locked? If logged off that means the user is logged off and all applications are closed. If locked your account is still logged on and the applications are not closed even if you have to swipe the finger to unlock the computer.
If the computer is just locked i'm guessing it's the screensaver settings. Rightclick your desktop and select personalize, click on screensaver and uncheck "on resume display logon screen". Optionally you can increase the number of minutes until the computer is locked if you just think 10 minutes is too short.
    Did that fix the problem?

  • Is there any way to log off automatically from a WIFI connection every time the device is turned off or goes into sleep mode.

I have a bunch of Apple devices in my house (kids) and don't like the idea of all these devices (iPads, iPod touches, iPhones) always being connected to my home WIFI.  Ideally, I would prefer the devices connect automatically when they are in use by a human and log off the network when they (the devices) go to sleep mode or are turned off.

This is not an answer, more of a question.  I know that when a pad goes to sleep, it drops the connection. We all remember the thousands of posts from folks who had trouble re establishing the connection after waking up in the early days.  What is different now is the use of push, and notifications.  If you have these enabled, doesn't that mean that the wifi needs to stay active?
I notice that I have notifications on the screen that came in while asleep, and I can only believe that the wifi saw them.  This is different from the old behavior or re grabbing the wifi.
So, to Pam, on one the devices you are concerned about, turn off notifications, fetch and push, put it to sleep, and see if it drops off the network.  I am kind of curious.
By the way, having the wifi active has not shown me any battery usage. The router certainly does not care.  Security is at the router end, so if somebody wants to hijack my signal, it does not matter if the pad is active or not.  So I guess I am not clear either on what your issue might be.
