Automatically Name Document using form fields in the PDF?

Is it possible to populate the Save Name field with a concatenation of fields that the user selects on a form? I'm using Reader Extensions to let a user fill out a form and save it, and I have 3 fields - Station, Month and Year, in the document. (It's a monthly report) I'd like it when the user goes to save the document to have it automatically named "WGST October 2007" - the concatenation of those 3 fields.

Mapping of Tax Form Fields to the PDF Tax Form

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to see the mapping betw the Tax Form fields and the Tax Form in pdf format. For example in Quarterly State Unemployment form, I have a Tax Form field T003. How can I map this field to a particular field in the Tax Form in pdf format ?

Hello Somdeb,
To use the Tax form field say T003 in PDF, there check box 'Form Processing Indicator' should be checked then only the field is available in PDF to be linked. When I fill fields on a form and ask to print using form fields only, the infomation doesn't show up. Other people in the office use the same form with no problem. Using XI standard.

I have a fillable form that is used by everyone in the office. When the fields are filled we print using the form fields only option to print on our invoices. When I go to print it in Acrobat XI standard using the form fields only option, none of the information I filled shows up or prints. No one else in the office has this problem. Does anyone know why I can't do this, but other people can?

Acrobat X Pro detects no form fields in the PDF created by Excel

I am using Acrobat X Pro on a Macbook running Yosemite OS X. Office 2011 and Acrobat are both fully updated.
I have created a PDF from an Excel spreadsheet. two columns. first column has text to describe what the user is supposed to enter in the second column. the cells in the second column have a border box drawn around them. I saved this Excel document as a PDF. I opened it in Acrobat X Pro and used the Tool - Create Fillable Form. It gives a message saying "No form fields detected". What am i doing wrong? Is there an issue with this process?

i have read at least 4 articles and watch 3 videos that do almost the same process i have explained. the only difference is that they used Word to create their PDF doc. they had no issues.
so i am wondering if there is something wrong with the Excel PDF process. i have tried this one 2 different MacBooks with same result.
what does the cell have to have in order for Acrobat to detect it as a form field?

How to specify xml file to populate form fields in the PDF file via command line?

I would like to specify xml data file to populate my pdf file using command line.
The form was Reader extended.
I've tried the following syntax :
Acrobat.exe /A "zoom=100" "C:\example.pdf"#xml="C:\example.xml" but got an acrobat error: "the file name, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect".
Where am I wrong?

Certainly, neither will work. /A is followed by a single quoted
string. There must be some separator, but I don't know what it needs
to be (as I was alluding to in my first reply).
To see if there is any hope, just try without the zoom= completely. In
any case you can set the zoom in the document properties.

Can we selectively flatten form fields in a PDF file?

I have a PDF with some form fields in it. I want to selectively flatten a few form fields in the PDF using a java API. I have checked the documentation and found a method transformPDF in the OutputServiceService. But this method flattens all the form fields in the PDF document.
Can we selectively flatten form fields in a PDF file? If yes how?
This was possible in Adobe Document Server V6.

You will need an event in the form that will indicate that you want the flattening done. Once you determine what that is it is simply a single statement for each field:
fieldname.access = "readOnly";
Now when the form is rendered, the user will not be able to get access to these fields.

Webpage PDF states This file is a PDF form when no form fields in actual pdf

I have an acrobat.com account, and when uploading and displaying pdf's in a webpage, even when there are no form fields in the pdf it states that "This file is a PDF form, please download and fill in"
Even creating a new pdf this state seems to now be the default in Acrobat Pro 8 on my Mac, how do i reset back to defaults so this does not happen?

That's not the only problem looks like adobe.com has problems as well. IF the same site is spoofed with FF useragent, works perfect.

How to store forms fields into the session ?

Hi All,
I have to store forms fields into the session.
I have four forms (htm forms) in four jsps and there are total 25 fields.
I am inserting all the fields into the database at once while user submit the last form.
I want to use session to store forms fields.
So please anybody tell me how to do that.
Is the following code correct to store the forms fields into
the sesstion........

I was just asking that if I use the following

How do I bring form fields to the front or back?

I have a document with many form fields/push-buttons in order to create pup-up effects in an info graphic.
So I use fields to create a mouse-over hot spot, and others that pop up. Now, of course, the hot spot must be in front (or on top), otherwise it gets distracted in it's mouse-over function by the popped-up object (image) that lays over it. (The result would look like a flashing effect, as you roll over the hot spot.)
Now how do I arrange the fields?? Ich can arrange images and texts to come to the front or hide behind other objects. But in the form field editing mode there is no such option. Also it doesn't work to just cut and paste them, they re-appear in their former position, often behind the other fields.

The tab order effectively sets the z-order, but if a field is not read-only it will be set to the front if it receives the focus.

How to Hide Form Field If the data null

Hi All,
I have an issue in the RTF, i am working in XMLP 5.6.2 Desktop Edition. I am developing template for Dunning Letter report. I have four fields in the footer like collector name,mail id, tele number and then fax. Here some collectors may not having fax and mail id since these fields are opition in the DFF. So I want to hide the form fields with the labels also if the collectors dont have mail id and fax nos. Now i am getting blank space for the collector who dont have mail id and fax nos. I dont knw what logic that need to apply over here.
I have the form fields in the template like ....
<?COLLECTOR_NAME?>
<?COLLECTOR_MAIL_ID?>
Tel. <?COLLECTOR_TELE?>
Fax. <?COLLECTOR_FAX?>
Please advice me to close this issue.

Duplicating form fields from one PDF document to another

Hi,
Does anyone know of a way to select and duplicate all acrobat form fields from one PDF document into a new PDF document. I know I can do so one field at a time but would like to know if there is a way to do so in a wholesale fashion.
Our PDF documents are created in-house each year and are nearly the same as the previous year's document containing 99% of the same form fields in the same locations. These forms contain a lot of form fields, anywhere from 50 to 100 fields.
Rather than start from scratch each year defining the same fields that were present in the previous year's document, I am looking for a way to copy the form fields from an existing PDF document (last year's PDF in our case) and copy the form fields into a new PDF document (that does not yet have any form fields defined) and hopefully maintain all the field attributes and positions from the previous years document.

The PDF template we need to copy the form fields "to" doesn't start out having any form fields. It is the fields that we need copied from a previous year's PDF template.
Here's an except from my original post: "I am looking for a way to copy the form fields from an existing PDF document (last year's PDF in our case) and copy the form fields into a new PDF document (that does not yet have any form fields defined)"
The "new" PDF template is a complete "paper" form with updated legal text and calendar year referrences but NO form fields. In our IS group, we then take these forms, add form fields to them and are then able to populate them with database-resident user data. We serve them up to the user in their browser pre-populated with their application data.
So again, our need is to find a way to copy form fields from "last year's" PDF template and copy just the form fields to an fresh "new year's" PDF template that contains no form fields to begin with. What we begin with is just a PDF representation of a paper student loan application.

When you say field, do you mean specifically a form field, such as a text field? Or is the information regular text on the page?

How to Validate a Portal Form field from the database

I created a Portal Form based on a procedure, which requires three parameters. One of the parameters is Item Number. I need to check if the Item Number exists in database. I am trying to use pl/sql button event handler, where I try to use the select count(*) statement to verify. However, I don't know how to reference the form field in the where clause. Please advise. Or is it possible to achieve this by creating a javascript? If you go to 'Shared Component' provider and click on javascript, you will see some system validation scripts, which you can call in the form level validation. You cannot access the DB from the script. If you want to access the values of a field you should use session variables. Here is a sample to access the values of a form field.
