Automatically number recurring events?

Hi all,
Just searched the topics but can't seem to find it so I'll post the question here. What I'm trying to do is get iCal to automatically number my (weekly) recurring event.
The event recurs every Saturday, and I want iCal to add +1 for each week. For example how many weeks you are pregnant, how many weeks it's been since you've moved etc. Really don't feel like adding the number of weeks manually... is this possible?
Thanks!

Not really. The repeating event is only stored once, so thereis no second or third or ... actual stored event, and so nowhere to put the recurrence number. iCal calculates, from the start date and recurrence rule, what repeating events should be shown in the current view. I imagine it would be easy, as part of the calculation, to calculate the number and display it, but they would need to change their code.

  • Does anyone know if I can number repeat events in iCal?

    Hello
    I am trying to number recurring events in iCal. I run language courses and I want to be able to number the lessons, so I can see at a glance what number we are on. Is there a way I can do this and set it that iCal will update the number when an event gets cancelled/moved.
    Thanks for your ideas!

    Maybe late for this answer but hope it helps, I had no service on my Iphone4 in the Bahamas even after adding a 5 dollar unlimited text package. This was Valentines Day weekend and we had NO SERVICE whatsoever. Verizon just confirmed that the network trouble in the Bahamas had been previously documented. My question is how was there broken coordination with an entire country that is updating it's network not compensating/preparing for it? The chaos that ensued from 3 family parties arriving at different times, having no cell service was not pleasant. We literally had to use email on local hotel wifi thru to communicate. Verizon's answer was that we should've run *228 to update but pointed out this was no guarantee that the networking issue would be solved. Whatever the reason, this is unacceptable for the amount we all pay each month. Having been a Verizon supporter for many years, I was very disappointed during this meaningful family event not being able to depend on my phone service. Please check ahead for alerts before you go!!

  • How can i organize a huge number of events?

    I just began with mac and iphoto. I imported a lot of photos from windows (google picasa) in iphoto (>17000). Now I have a huge number of events, which i would like to sort by e.g. years and months. Within the years and months, the events should be placed.
    Is this possible or what would you suggest to handle a lot of photos?
    Thank you in advance for any helpful answer.

    Assuming that you have events sorted by date (event menu ==> sort events) your events will be sorted by date & time - you can not create a substructure within events - it is a large flat set of photos
    If you want a hierarchal structure use albums and folders - albums hold photos and folders hold albums or other folders - you also can use smart albums to instantly find all photos from a date or a date range - or the search window in the lower left
    Events a a very basic, inflexible and pretty much automatic organization - just a starting point to hold photos
    I generally merge trips into a single event and leave the other time based - others merge even more having events like 1st quarter 2010 etc

  • Recurring event times wrong by 1 hr only in iOS calendar

    I just noticed that all my recurring events seemt to be one hour later in the Calendar app on my iPhone (iOS 5.1). In the iCloud calendar (on the web site) the times are correct.  I don't know if this happened right after the recent "spring forward" daylight savings time change, or right after the update to iOS 5.1.
    All my other events are showing the correct time. Only the recurring events are shifted one hour to the future in the iOS calendar.
    Is anyone else seeing this problem? Any ideas for a fix?
    (And, before you ask, my iPhone has the correct time zone setting and is configured to automatically set the time; and I haven't left my timezone in over two months.)
    Dave Hein

    I found the problem. When the tasks were initially created, I did not have Time Zone Support turn on in iCloud (the website) or on my iPhone or in iCal on my Mac.  The events were all created over the winter, not during daylight savings time.
    I turned on Time Zone support in iCloud, on my iPhone, and in iCal. That did not fix the problem. But I noticed that, in iCloud, when I turned on Time Zone support, the initial time zone it selected was "Central Standard Time".  But I'm now in Central Daylight Time; so I tried setting the time zone (using the little popup map widget is tricky!) and found I could also set the Time Zone to "Central Time" -- no 'daylight' or 'standard' distinction. So I set it to Central Time.
    Still no joy.  But then, still in iCloud Calendar, I double clicked on one of the offending events and in the set of properties display was now a Time Zone property ... and it was still set to Central Standard Time.  So I went into each event that was at the wrong time and changed the time zone from Central Standard Time to Central Time.
    My guess it that "Central Time" is a time zone designation that means it will automatically switch between standard time and daylight savings time.
    So, everything is working again. Hope this helps someone.

  • How do I set a recurring event for the last day of the month on iphone 4s calendar?

    I want to set a recurring event for the last day of every month - regardless of the date/number of days in the month. I'd prefer not to have to use an app to do this.

    Hi,
    You can do this using the custom repeat in iCal. You'll need two events to cover the second and fourth Mondays.
    Create the event on the second Monday of the month. In Repeat select Custom... > Frequency: Monthly > On the: second Monday.
    Do the same for the Fourth Monday.
    Best wishes

  • How do I delete a recurring event that was sent from an outside source?

    I have a number of recurring events that were added to the calendar from an outside calendar. A calendar that I do not have access to anymore. I wish to delete the entire series. Currently when I open the event I can not edit nor delete it. If I choose cut I am forced to cut each individual occurance of the event. Is there some way to delete the series?

    you can try full re-sync of the calendar:
    First you need to find out which account the offending calendar belongs to (you can find it in the event details)
    then go to settings/main,contacts,etc...
    Tap on the proper account
    Then disable the calendar linked with this account (confirm deleting it from the iPhone)
    Finaly re-enable the calendar and let it sync.

  • Recurring event not remembered

    I have a number of recurring events set up in iCal. Most of them behave as they should, but one in particular that I have set up to remind me to pay my VISA card gives me a problem. Once I know what my payment is going to be I add this to the event as a sole entry. When I come back to the event later the sum that I entered has gone and it shows just the stock entry. I have been doing this for years without a problem but only recently this has started.
    I have deleted and recreated the event; renamed the event, but the info that I add to the event keeps disappearing.

    Do you use MobileMe and an iPhone? If yes, do this in the following order:
    Mac:
    (1) back up the applications giving you problems
    iPhone
    (1) Open settings, then open "mail, contacts, calendars"
    (2) Open .Mac account
    (3) Turn OFF the applications that are causing problems
    (4) When you turn off on of the applicatios, a red sign "stop syncing" will appear. Press it. A msg will appear "turning off xxx"
    (5) Get out of settings
    (6) Don't do anything for about 20 mins. Don't touch your iPhone or your Mac. (syncing needs time to settle down)
    After 20 minutes...
    Mac:
    (1) Open each application that is giving you problems. Fix errors. Back up.
    (2) Do this for each application
    iPhone
    (1) Open settings, then open "mail, contacts, calendars"
    (2) Open .Mac account
    (3) Slide switch to ON for each app you turned off; there won't be a msg
    (4) Get out of settings
    (5) Via MobileMe, syncing will start again.
    Wait about 20 minutes, again. You should see all in order after that. At least, that was my experience.

  • Every ?th weekday recurring event (skip weekends) -- is it possible?

    At my workplace, we're on a 7-day production schedule (M-F only), such that if a "day 1" were to fall on a Monday, the next "Day 1" would fall on the Wednesday of the following week. We have a production meeting every "day 7".
    What I would like to do is set up a recurring event that repeats every 7th weekday. Is this possible with a custom RRULE (i.e. edit something in textedit and drop it in)? Is there a simpler way to do it? If RRULE, could anyone point me in the right direction?
    I tried custom daily recurrence, but it doesn't give me the option to skip weekends.
    ** If a rule could be made to skip weekends and stat holidays, all the better -- but I'm assuming that'd be pushing my luck.

    I tried a few ways with customised tweaked RRules without success. I thought something might be achievable based on a 9-day interval. Reading about it, it seems to be one of the recognised weaknesses of the icalendar standard.
    You could run an applescript and generate a separate event for each meeting - here is an example.
    AK
    click here to open this script in your editor<pre style="font-family: 'Monaco', 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; overflow:auto; color: #222; background: #DDD; padding: 0.2em; font-size: 10px; width:400px">-- AK Oct 2007
    --Things you should probably change
    --you can put the dates in simpler format eg "Dec 25 2009". Applescript will convert them
    set HolidaysList to {date string of date "Tuesday 25 December 2007 00:00:00"}
    set HolidaysList to HolidaysList & {date string of date "Tuesday 1 January 2008 00:00:00"} --add extra line like this for each excluded date
    display dialog HolidaysList --so you know that the list is correct
    set StartTime to 9 * hours --time meeting starts
    set Duration to 1 * hours --length of meeting
    set MeetCal to "Production Meetings" --name of the calendar
    --After here, only change if you have at least a vague idea of what you are doing
    set DaysList to {"Monday", "Tuesday", "Wednesday", "Thursday", "Friday"}
    set Today to date string of (current date)
    set StartOn to date (text returned of (display dialog "Start date?" default answer Today))
    set StartOn to StartOn + StartTime
    set RepeatCount to text returned of (display dialog "Number of meetings?" default answer 50)
    repeat RepeatCount times
    repeat until ((first word of date string of StartOn) is in DaysList) and (date string of StartOn is not in HolidaysList)
    set StartOn to StartOn + 1 * days
    end repeat
    tell application "iCal"
    tell calendar MeetCal
    make new event at end of events with properties {summary:"Planning Meeting", start date:StartOn, end date:StartOn + Duration}
    end tell
    end tell
    set StartOn to StartOn + 9 * days
    end repeat</pre>

  • How do I change a recurring event on iPhone 5 which syncs with Google Calendar.  As soon as I change it on phone it reverts back to original.  Works on pc perfectly.

    Help.  How do I change a recurring event on iPhone 5 which syncs with Google Calendar.  Just reverts back to original.  Work perfectly on pc.

    Do you happen to have Dial Assist on? This is in Settings>Phone. This is what helps the phone identify international numbers when dialing, based on location. See if turning that off/on makes a difference. Unless you are making a number of international calls, I believe this can be left off. See the User Guide http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf  Page 49 has info regarding Dial Assist.

  • Can a single instance of a recurring event be modified?

    I would like to be able to modify a single instance of a recurring event? Is
    this possible in iPlanet Calendar Server 2.x?<BR>
    <P>
    iPlanet Calendar Server 2.x allows the user to modify a single instance
    of a recurring event through the User Interface (UI).
    <P>
    When you create a recurring event from the UI, it automatically treats
    each date of the recurring event as its own event. Each event has its own
    set of data.
    <P>
    When you click on a single instance of an event, it will display the current
    data. If you want to modify the single instance, the UI allows you to apply
    your changes to this instance only OR all future instances.

    I've worked it out myself. Once a recurring ical event has been edited ical ask if you would like to affect just this instance or all future instances. This is not perfect though because if I ticked/checked the 'all day event' box I wasn't asked this question so a bit disappointing there. Anyway, I think it would be a good idea for ical to ask you what you want to edit BEFORE you edit it, therefore you can edit with a bit more confidence that you won't mess up future entries.

  • Missing non recurring events

    All of my old non recurring events are gone, only current month is correct. last 7 months are gone. seam to disapper after a month. Anyway to get them back? on my icloud setting my calendar is "on" but don't know where they went

    I don't know how to do what you suggested. However, I was able to get my handheld 22 working, so all the data  thought was gone is in there. My problem now is that I purchased a new palm (e2) when i thought the other one was dead, and now i am afraid to hot sync the z22 to the new desktop, as I am afraid it will somehow wipe out the data from 2005 to present on my handheld z22. Is there any way to save that data without hot syncing? I would rather hand enter it all than risk wiping it out on the handheld as that is the only place it now exists.Thankx. Also is there a phone support number?

  • AppleScript and Recurring Events

    I'm trying to create an AppleScript that will, essentially, e-mail every event for the week to Remember The Milk so that, on the iPhone, I can pull up Appigo's To Do and get an overview of everything I have to do for the day-- both RTM tasks and iCal events. For all non-recurring events, I'm in great shape.
    The problem, of course, is the way iCal handles recurring events and start dates. Because it considers the start date to be only the first occurrence of a recurring event, they're excluded when start dates are used to get only those events that occur within a specific timeframe.
    I can get all of my recurring events rather easily (although if anyone knows of better way than +...whose recurrence is not ""+ I'd be in your debt), but I don't want to sync every instance of the event. When regular appointments are canceled/rescheduled, I don't want to have to change them in multiple locations.
    Is there a way to get AppleScript to work with only a single occurrence of a recurring event? (Or, preferably, several single occurrences, considering that I've got anywhere between ten and thirty recurring events, depending on the week.)
    I had the thought of, before syncing every week, deleting any previous occurrence of a recurring event, but the script prompts me for the number of days I want to sync each time it runs, and I can foresee wanting to sync two or three weeks at a time, in which case simply deleting the event doesn't really solve the problem anyway.
    null

    Several lines of the “broken” script seem to be badly written, for example:
        set root_Folder to rootFolder as alias -- rootFolder instead of root_Folder
        set events_Folder to events_Foler as alias -- Foler instead of Folder

  • Recurring Events not gets all data in a given month in C#

    Help me about this. I cannot get all the records of recurring events in Calendar. Even using <Month> ,<Year>. it doesn't give the all records. that happens when adding no end date of recurrence.
    ex. i want to filter all records on the 10-01-2018 by its month but it appears like in different result range of date. cause i've tried creating an event in calendar with recurrence of Daily weekday=true and no end date. then i don't why it doesn't give the
    correct result and just tried this date as sample.

    Hi,
    Per my understanding, you might want to get all the recurring events within a specific month using C#.
    Here is working code demo about getting recurring events by month for your reference:
    public static void getRecurringEvents()
    using (SPSite site = new SPSite("http://sp"))
    using (SPWeb web = site.RootWeb)
    SPQuery query = new SPQuery();
    query.ExpandRecurrence = true;
    query.Query = "<Where><DateRangesOverlap><FieldRef Name=\"EventDate\" /><FieldRef Name=\"EndDate\" />" +
    "<FieldRef Name=\"RecurrenceID\" /><Value Type=\"DateTime\">" +
    "<Month />" +
    "</Value></DateRangesOverlap></Where>";
    //get the events in the specific months
    query.CalendarDate = DateTime.Now.AddMonths(-1);
    SPListItemCollection calendarItems = web.GetList("/Lists/Calendar1").GetItems(query);
    foreach (SPListItem item in calendarItems)
    Console.WriteLine(item["Title"] + ": starts "
    + item["EventDate"].ToString() + " and ends "
    + item["EndDate"].ToString());
    It will return all the recurring events of last month:
