Automatically playing slideshow in iWeb help.

Hi all.
I am creating my first site in iWeb and in the home page would like an image slideshow to automatically play once the page is displayed. Custom dimensions, no thumbnails or text, just 4 or 5 pictures, automatically changing. Help! I have iMovie, Adobe Fireworks (on a pc laptop) and dont want the Quicktime 'Q' displayed either. Yr experienced advice much appreciated.

Adding a Flash-Type Slideshow in iWeb

I want to add a slideshow to my home page, but not the kind of slideshow that has a bar of thumbnails and an enlarged version of the selected image. I'd like a frame that automatically plays a slideshow of images that play for a few seconds with a simple transition. Is this something I can create in iMovie and then import or even in iPhoto? I know you can't use Flash itself, which is fine since I don't know the program, although I'd learn it for this purpose if it was possible to use it.

Jim ~ You can create a QuickTime movie slideshow in iPhoto. Here's an example of a fast loading, looping embedded slideshow (not mine):

...and done like this:
iPhoto > select photos > File > Export... > QuickTime tab ...set width and height, etc.
Then iWeb > Media button > Movies tab ...drag in your movie created above by iPhoto.
Then iWeb > Inspector > QuickTime tab ...settings.
Note: The above generates a QT slideshow of small file size and thus appears quickly in a web browser.

Can I customise the link 'play slideshow' ?

I have customised all my text in my website, but I cannot change the default 'play slideshow' and also page numbers in my slideshows. The default looks awful compared to the rest of my text. Is there any way to change this?

I have not really used the play slide show button at all, but I might be able to help you on your problem
it depends on wether the slideshow button is an image or not. there might be an image that was placed in there that has the world play slide show
also there could be an automatic implemented text that is already put with the image
the only way I can think of changing this is maybe get the image after you publish it from your folder and edit the text in an editor, or maybe you will be able to find the text and be able to edit just that

go to your idisk and open the file with text editor and look for the image of play slide show or text and change it if you want too

Quicktime files not playing on published iweb site.

Hi,
I can't seem to get my QT movies to play on my iweb published site. Occasionally, I can get them to play, but even then it's only in slideshow mode (i.e., they won't play if you just select the movie thumbnail from the album view). I compressed them using QT pro (they are small files) and used the "fast start" option so theoretically they should start playing right away. Some of them just show the QT logo and some show the QT logo with a question mark. I recently upgraded to mountain lion, but had this issue before the upgrade. I use fatcow as my domain host and used to use go daddy. I don't recall having this issue with go daddy, but it seems unlikely that that change is what is causing the issue.

Usually this happens when the path to the movie file is not correct or the files isn't uploaded at all.
Also check your movie file names to make sure there are no spaces or special characters in them.

To make sure your movie will play in all browsers and on all devices, an HTML5 player with flash fallback is the preferred option...

For mobile devices like iPhone/iPad the movie should be prevented from loading with the page files by using a poster image and setting preload to "none".

I am using Windows 8.1. Lightroom 5.6 keeps crashing whenever I preview or play slideshow with music. Crash error " Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64-bit has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly."

Reader 9 and X won't play slideshow background music

I have been using Reader 8 satisfactorily, for years, to play slideshows I have made, over many years, using Adobe Album 2.0... admittedly an old program... perhaps 10 years old. Typically I have installed background music in my slideshows. Reader 8 never hesitates to play the slideshows and the music, like a champ.
Two years ago I installed Reader 9 and had to reverse that installation back to version 8, because Reader 9 wouldn't play the background music.
Today I installed Reader X, in the hope that it would play the background music, but this was not the case.
I have verified the presence of Quicktime n my computer, and changed preferences in Reader X to play sounds using Quicktime. I checked a box that was unchecked, that says to play embedded music. (Adobe Reader X, Edit, Preferences, Multimedia (Legacy)).
Can anyone vouch for Adobe Reader X's abilty to play slideshow music?
Any help appreciated. I'd like to adopt Reader X, but I also want my music to play. Can I re-compile those slideshows, somehow?

Using Windows XP Home + sp3

Front Row in Mac OS X 10.5.x has been broken the whole time. It used to work fine in Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger). Front Row will not play an iTunes playlist during a slideshow if the playlist contains more than one song. You can use a playlist that only has one song in it, but then you might as well just choose a single song instead of a playlist! I would suggest you send Apple some Mac OS X feedback:

For what it's worth, iPhoto seems to work fine with slideshows and iTunes playlists with more than one song.

Switching applications when playing slideshow

Is it possible to switch to another application when you're in a keynore slideshow? Neither Cmd-tab nor Launchpad nor the Dock seem to be functional. I would really, really like to switch back and forth from applications to the keynote slideshow. Any help would be much appreciated.

Keynote takes complete control over the graphics system when in play mode. As you discovered, application switcher does not function as the card is 'locked' to Keynote. The only thing to do is press the exit key to reveal the other application. Not a good way of doing things when giving a professional presentation!
Hyperlinks would have been useful to launch another application, but they only action a web page or another Keynote file.

Making a movie with a self-playing slideshow

Hello,
I've been working hard on this slideshow with background music, videos and photos that are all timed to work automatically. Now I'm just trying to make it into a movie to put online and nothing's working! They either want manual timing or a fixed time. I recorded it and tried to do the recorded timing, but then the music plays over itself, the timing's off and the audio is really bad. I want it to look just the way it is when I hit Play Slideshow.
Anyone know how I can do it?

With the file open, click share, then export as quicktime movie. Did you try that? It should make your exact presentation into a movie.
You would need to set times for the slide transitions...but it sounds like you have done that.
Im new too, but I did do this and it worked. I believe it defaulted to a slide transition time, you may have to override that for your custom times.

Stop videos from automatically playing

When I navigate to any number of sites, videos sometimes up to 8 of them will all begin playing. It's crazy. I've lost control of my browser. Is there a way to prevent videos, flash or otherwise from automatically playing. I've already installed click to flash, but that only accounts for half the content being pushed at me.

I am not sure which widget you are using but you can try the suggestions in the steps below to add videos to a muse site.
Also make sure you have mp4 or webm file format.
To import video in Muse you can use following steps.
1. Import Video to Asset tab
Go to File > Add Files to upload and select the file that you want to import. This will copy the file in asset tab in muse.
2. Insert HTML code :
     a. Go to the page on which you want to place the video.
     b. Go to Object > Insert HTMl
     c. Paste the code mentioned below and update the <filename> with your file name

Aperture unable to play slideshows since updating to Yosemite and 3.6

Hi,
I updated yesterday to Yosemite and to Aperture 3.6 accordingly, and Aperture has been unable to play slideshows since then. It crashes abruptly whenever trying to play a slideshow from a project (though NOT from an album - weird). Same happens on iPhoto.
Any similar experience anyone ?

Tried Frank Caggiano's options : it turns out the problem did NOT occur under another user. It did not occur either when creating a new library. In that new library, I stuffed a project with some 270 raw photos (those from one of the very projects that caused Aperture to crash under my usual library) and launched a slideshow from that project ==> no problem.
So my guess is that something went awry with my usual library. Do not know how I could fix that.
Hereunder the crash log (50-some first lines) I got in the report after Aperture crashed.

Double-clicking mp3 outside of itunes doesn't automatically play

if i double-click an mp3 on my desktop (or anywhere on my hard drive), it no longer automatically plays when itunes loads up (or if itunes is already open).
i think this still happened when itunes 8.0 was released. i don't know if it was the same with 8.0.1, but it definitely doesn't occur in 8.0.2
i tried looking to see if there was a setting i may have unchecked (or it turned off when it updated) but i can't seem to find anything.
anyone else notice this or have this problem?

i too am having this problem. itunes used automatically play a song whenever i opened the file from outside itunes. it's annoying now that it copies the file into itunes but just sits there until you press play. i've noticed it only since my last itunes update. i keep looking through the settings but i know i've not changed any of them, and i can't find anything to fix it either! please help!

Using Aperture 3 slideshows on iWeb 09

Hi - I am trying to use aperture 3 slideshows on iweb instead of flash but the quality is lacking - the sharm movie files are over 30mb so when compressed to around 10mb loses image quality

OK but the problem I am having is maintaining crisp image quality while compressing QT files of over 30mb generated by Aperture slideshow export ?

Keynote cannot play slideshow...

Hi. I hope someone can help me with this problem. Thanks in advance!!!
I've been trying to play slideshow in keynote but it keeps going to slide 4 and then quits the slideshow. No matter what I try, it just doesn't want to play from the start or let me move to the next slide. Please help me out!

I just had the same thing happen to me. Here is what I believe is happening-- somehow you hit the command to record the slideshow, and you have been recording ever since. So under the File menu, choose "Clear Recording" and see if things don't go back to normal. Just spent an hour trying to figure this out!

Play Slideshow and Subscribe links don't work in IE

Hi, I published a site with the newest version of iWeb and the Play Slideshow and Subscribe links don't work for my friends who use IE. Also, only some of the pictures will open when clicked. Many of them do nothing when clicked.
Here's an example:

The site works with Safari and Firefox (both Mac and PC) but people with several different versions of IE experience the same problem.
Any ideas on how this can be fixed?

Thanks for your reply. The problem is the whole page is one image and there should be several clickable areas which point to different links.
To solve this we have put a textbox over the clickable area, disabled the background and stroke and then right clicked on the textbox and used the hyperlink option to turn the whole box in to a hyperlink.
We tried several free PDF convertors which couldn’t handle this combination. Then we trailed it with the full desktop version of Adobe Acrobat Pro and it worked a treat. Unfortunately the client didn’t have that software so we signed them up to the online PDF convertor from Adobe and that isn’t handling it.
