Automatically recording my voice one step lower?

I am adding to an existing file of my recording, and anything I add is automatically a step lower and slower.  I am completely baffled.
I have checked the AUpitch thing and it's at 0, so that's not it. The editing browser has no change in pitch for that track. Actually, every track will not record correctly, even if pre-existing recordings are fine on the same track.
The only thing I can think of is on a previous project last week, I did change the AUpitch settings for the Main. But that was just for that project. I even did a new project that day with no problems. Why is this happening and how can I make it record properly again?

if it does, open the Audio Midi Setup utility and make sure the internal mic is set to a 44100 sample rate (i'd toggle it to another setting and then back if it appears to already is set correctly)

  • Check/uncheck record results on more than one step at a time

I have one hundred plus sequence files and several thousand steps total. Checking and un-checking record results one step at a time takes a long time. I'd like to be able to select several steps at a time then check or un check the "Record Results" option for all those steps at once. How do I do this? I'm using TestStand 2.0

    Hi Kevin,
    Thanks for contacting National Instruments.
Do you want to disable result recording for ALL sequences on this station? If so, you can turn on this option in the TestStand sequence editor (Configure >> Station Options, turn ON checkbox "Disable result recording for all sequences").
However, if you only want to do this for selected sequence files, then Ray is correct - you would need to write an external routine that will automate this for you. Attached is a zipfile containing a VBScript that will iterate through one sequence file ("c:\test.seq") and change all steps (all sequences, including Main/Setup/Cleanup) to turn off "Record Results". It first saves a backup copy of the sequence file, makes the changes, then save
s the modified sequence file. You can enhance this script to work for more than one sequence file by using Microsoft's FileSystemObject.
The VBScript uses a DLL I created, which exposes the TestStand 2.0 Engine object as an ActiveX DLL. Before you can run the VBScript, you will need to register this DLL:
    regsvr32 TSEngine.dll
Then, the VBScript can be executed just by double-clicking it. Hopefully this helps get you started toward creating an automated way of solving this problem!

  • Recording Levels are low after recording a Voice Over

I plugged my Microphone into the computer and opened up Soundtrack and saw that My Microphone was working. I hit record and started speaking into the Microphone to record my voice. I hit record:
    1) The VU meter was giving me levels. I recorded my voice and then pressed stop. When I played the recording back, the levels were really low.
How can I get the recording to be a bit higher? I am using it for a Voice Over. What am I not doing correctly?

I was just trying to do this very thing with the same HV20 camera.
    Just figured it out.
Refer to page 42 of the HV20 instruction manual.
While the firewire cable is NOT connected to the camera follow the instructions to set the PLAYBACK STD to Auto or HDV. Then set the DV OUTPUT setting to DV LOCKED. The camera will do the down conversion and it will appear to the iDVD as a DV cam.
iDVD one step will then recognize the camera and begin the capture process. I have just kicked off the process so I can't verify that the end state will be a great DVD copy, but at least I can get you started. Hope it helped.

  • Outbound Delivery Document Flow (One-Step procedure) Goods Receipt

I am trying to extract the Goods Receipt status of Outbound Deliveries which are posted using One-Step procedure.  I can do this one delivery at a time using VL03N.
Some sites (plants) are configured with One-Step procedure and others are configured as Two-Step procedure.
Document flow of an Outbound Delivery is extracted from table VBFA.
For the two-step delivery process (Movement type 641) the Goods Receipt is recorded in table VBFA (Subs.doc.categ. / VBTYP_N = 'i').  Therefore, I can easily extract the goods receipts for these deliveries.
However, for the one-step procedure (Movement type 647) the Goods Receipt does not appear to be recorded in table VBFA.  Does anyone know which table the Goods Receipt is stored for one-step procedure?
Using transaction VL03N we can view the document flow.  It appears that for One-Step procedure the Goods Receipt is held at item level.  By highlighting a delivery line in VL03N and viewing the document flow we can see the goods receipt for One-Step deliveries (therefore, the data must be held somewhere).
I understand that by using One-step procedure the goods receipt is posted automatically, so we can assume that there should never be outstanding Goods Receipts for One-Step sites.  However, I have been tasked with the job of reconciling all deliveries for the past 12 months.  I need to prove that a goods receipt has been posted for every single delivery.
    Any advice is much appreciated.

Thankyou for the advice.   I will proceed with your recommendation.
However, the query is inefficient since the link between LIKP and MKPF does not use the primary key (Article Doc. / MBLNR).  We have almost 7 million records in MKPF table.
Is there any intermediate tables I can include between LIKP and MKPF so that only primary keys are used for the joins?

  • One Step DVD quality

I have been reading the posts about using IMOVIE09 and then using IDVD. I understand the quality is not great because of IMOVIE09 and the way it does the import.
IS the quality better if I skip IMOVIE and use the One Step DVD option in IDVD directly? I am importing Mini-DV tapes.
    Thanks

    Hi
IS the quality better if I skip IMOVIE and use the One Step DVD option in IDVD directly? I am importing Mini-DV tapes.
    YES !
else on Quality and iDVD - my notes
    DVD quality
    1. iDVD 08, 09 & 11 has three levels of qualities. (version 7.0.1, 7,0.4 & 7.1.1) and iDVD 6 has the two last ones
    • Professional Quality
(movies + menus up to 120 min.) - BEST (but not always for short movies e.g. up to 45 minutes in total)
    • Best Performances
(movies + menus less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD (Can be best for short movies)
    • High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6)
(movies + menus up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
Menu can take 15 minutes or even more - I use a very simple one with no audio or animation like ”Brushed Metal” in old Themes.
    About double on DL DVDs.
    2. Video from
    • FCE/P - Export out as full quality QuickTime.mov (not self-containing, no conversion)
    • iMovie x-6 - Don't use ”Share/Export to iDVD” = destructive even to movie project and especially so
when the movie includes photos and the Ken Burns effect NOT is used. Instead just drop or import the iMovie movie project icon (with a Star on it) into iDVD theme window.
    • iMovie’08 or 09 or 11 are not meant to go to iDVD. Go via Media Browser or rather use iMovie HD 6 from start.
    3. I use Roxio Toast™ to make an as slow burn as possibly e.g. x4 or x1 (in iDVD’08 or 09  this can also be set)
This can also be done with Apple’s Disk Utilities application when burning from a DiskImage.
    4. There has to be about or more than 25Gb free space on internal (start-up) hard disk. iDVD can't
use an external one as scratch disk (if it is not start-up disc). For SD-Video - if HD-material is used I guess that 4 to 5 times more would do.
    5. I use Verbatim ( also recommended by many - Taiyo Yuden DVDs - I can’t get hold of it to test )
    6. I use DVD-R (no +R or +/-RW) - DVD-R play’s on more and older DVD-Players
    7. Keep NTSC to NTSC - or - PAL to PAL when going from iMovie to iDVD
(I use JES_Deinterlacer to keep frame per sec. same from editing to the Video-DVD result.)
    8. Don’t burn more than three DVDs at a time - but let the laser cool off for a while before next batch.
    iDVD quality also depends on.
    • DVD is a standard in it self. It is Standard Definition Quality = Same as on old CRT-TV sets and can not
    deliver anything better that this.
HD-DVD was a short-lived standard and it was only a few Toshiba DVD-players that could playback.
These DVDs could be made in DVD-Studio Pro. But they don’t playback on any other standard DVD-Player.
Blu-Ray / BD can be coded onto DVDs but limited in time to - about 20-30 minutes and then need
    _ Roxio Toast™ 10 Pro incl. BD-component
_ BD disks and burner if full length movies are to be stored
_ BD-Player or PlayStation3 - to be able to playback
The BD-encoded DVDs can be play-backed IF Mac also have Roxio DVD-player tool. Not on any standard Mac or DVD-player
Full BD-disks needs a BD-player (in Mac) as they need blue-laser to be read. No red-laser can do this.
    • HOW much free space is there on Your internal (start-up) hard disk. Go for approx. 25Gb.
less than 5Gb and Your result will most probably not play.
    • How it was recorded - Tripod vs Handheld Camera. A stable picture will give a much higher quality
    • Audio is most often more critical than picture. Bad audio and with dropouts usually results in a non-viewed movie.
    • Use of Video-editor. iMovie’08 or 09 or 11 are not the tools for DVD-production. They discard every second line resulting in a close to VHS-tape quality.
iMovie 1 to HD6 and FinalCut any version delivers same quality as Camera record in = 100% to iDVD
    • What kind of movie project You drop into it. MPEG4 seems to be a bad choice.
other strange formats are .avi, .wmv, .flash etc. Convert to streamingDV first
Also audio formats matters. I use only .aiff or from miniDV tape Camera 16-bit
strange formats often problematic are .avi, .wmv, audio from iTunes, .mp3 etc
Convert to .aiff first and use this in movie project
    • What kind of standard - NTSC movie and NTSC DVD or PAL to PAL - no mix.
(If You need to change to do a NTSC DVD from PAL material let JES_Deinterlacer_3.2.2 do the conversion)
(Dropping a PAL movie into a NTSC iDVD project
(US) NTSC DVDs most often are playable in EU
(EU) PAL DVDs most often needs to be converted to play in US
UNLESS. They are play-backed by a Mac - then You need not to care
    • What kind of DVDs You are using. I use Verbatim DVD-R (this brand AND no +R or +/-RW)
    • How You encode and burn it. Two settings prior iDVD’08 or 09
Pro Quality (only in iDVD 08 & 09)
Best / High Quality (not always - most often not)
Best / High Performances (most often my choice before Pro Quality)
    1. go to iDVD pref. menu and select tab far right and set burn speed to x1 (less errors = plays better) - only in iDVD 08 & 09
(x4 by some and may be even better)
    2. Project info. Select Professional Encoding - only in iDVD 08 & 09.
    Region codes.
iDVD - only burn Region = 0 - meaning - DVDs are playable everywhere
DVD Studio pro can set Region codes.
    1 = US
    2 = EU

What it turned out to be was the "quality" settings in iDVD. The total clip time was NOT over 2 hours or 4.7GB, yet iDVD created massive visual artifacts on the "professional quality" setting.
I switched the settings to "high quality" which solved the problem. According iDVD help, "high quality" determines the best bit rate for the clips you have.
I have NEVER seen iDVD do this before, especially when I was under the 2 hour and 4.7GB limits.
For anyone else, there seem to be 2 places in iDVD to set quality settings, the first is under "preferences" and the second under "project info." They do NOT seem to be linked (i.e. if you change one, the other is NOT changed). take care, Mario
to get this to work I
    • Secure a minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-Up (Mac OS) hard disk
    • Use Verbatim DVD-R (absolutely no +/-RW)
    • Set down burn speed to x4 - less burn errors = plays on more devices
    • No other process running in background as - ScreenSaver, EnergySaver OR TIMEMACHINE etc
    • and I'm very careful on what kind of video-codecs, audio file format and photo file formats I use
    • and I consider the iDVD Bug - never go back to video-editor to change/up-date - if so Start  a brand new iDVD project
    • Chapters set as they should - NO one at very beginning and no one in any transition or within 2 sec from it
    • Lay-out - Turn on TV-Safe area and keep everything buttons, titles etc WELL INSIDE not even touching it !
Try to break the process up into two stages
    • Save as a DiskImage (calculating part)
    • Burn from this .img file (burning stage)
To isolate where the problem starts.
Another thing is - Playing it onto a Blu-Ray Player. My PlayStation3 can play BD-disks but not all of my home made DVDs so to get this to work I
    • Secure a minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-Up (Mac OS) hard disk
    • Use Verbatim DVD-R (absolutely no +/-RW)
    • Set down burn speed to x4 - less burn errors = plays on more devices

    • Lay-out - Turn on TV-Safe area and keep everything buttons, titles etc WELL INSIDE not even touching it !
TO GET IT TO WORK SLIGHTLY FASTER
    • Minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-Up hard disk
    • No other programs running in BackGround e.g. Energy-Saver
    • Don’t let HD spin down or be turned off (in Energy-Save)
    • Move hard disks that are not to be used to Trash - To be disconnected/turned off
    • Goto Spotlight and set the rest of them under Integrity (not to be scanned)
    • Set screen-saver to a folder without any photo - then make an active corner (up right for me) and set
pointer to this - turns on screen saver - to show that it has nothing to show
    • No File Vault on - Important
    • NO - TimeMachine - during iMovie/iDVD work either ! IMPORTANT
    • Lot's of icons on DeaskTop/Finder also slows down the Mac noticeably
    • Start a new User-Account and log into this and iMovie get's faster too - if a project is in a hurry
    • And let Mac run on Mains - not just on battery

  • One Step iDVD does  not start

I am using a Sony Digital 8 Handycam DCR-TRV530. I can't get the One Step iDVD function to work. I am using a Pioneer DVR-XD10 DVD/CD writer. The camera is also directly connected by Firewire to the computer. I click on the drop down menu and click on the One Step IDVD function and nothing happens. The camera is supposed to rewind and begin playing the tape while in VCR mode but nothing happens. I don't think the camera is at fault but I'm open to any suggestions.

Yes, I did. To be more exact, however, the camera detects if you are using Hi-8 tape and will automatically begin recording in digital format. What is weird, though, is that about 20 minutes after posting my message the One Step iDVD process began working as expected.
Thanks for your response! Greatly appreciated.

    Hi
    May be help here
    NO CAMERA or A/D-box
    Cable
    • Are You sure that You are using the FireWire Cable - USB-Cable will not work for miniDV tape Cameras
FireWire - Sure not using the accompany USB-Cable but bought a 4-pin to 6-pin (or 9-pin) FW one ?
    • Test another FW-Cable very often the problem maker.
    Camera
    • Test Your Camera on another Mac so that DV-in still works OK
    • Toggle in iMovie pref. Play-back via Camera (on <-> off some times)
    • Some Cameras has a Menu where You must select DV-out to get it to work
    • Camera connected to "charger" (mains adaptor) - not just on battery
    • Camera set in Playback mode - NOT Recording mode
Does Your Camera work on another Mac ?
Sorry to say it is to easy to turn the 6-pin end of the FW-cable 180 deg wrong.
This is lethal to the A/D-chip in the Camera = needs an expensive repair.
(Hard to find out - else than import/export to another Mac ceased to work
everything else is OK e.g. recording and playback to TV)
    A/D-box
    • Is the dip-switches set right ?
    • Set to same standard as recorded/editing e.g. NTSC 29.97fps or PAL 25fps
    • Try resetting it
    Connections
    • Daisy Chaining most often doesn’t work (some unique cases - it’s the only way that work (some Canon Cameras ?))
Try to avoid connecting Camera <--> external HD <--> Mac but import directly to the Mac then move
the Movie project to dedicated external hard disk.
    • FireWire-port - Can be re-setted by - Turn off Mac and disconnecting Mac from Mains/Power for 20-30 minutes
    External device’s (hard disk’s)
    • Should be FireWire as USB/USB2 performs badly and so does Airport or Net-work connected ones too.
    • MUST BE - Mac OS Extended formatted - UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - DO NOT WORK for video due to 4Gb barrier.
    Mac
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk ? Please specify the amount of free space.
    (Other hard disks don't count)
I go for a minimum of 25Gb free space for 4x3 SD Video - and my guess is 5 times more for 16x9 HD ones
after material is imported and edited.
    • Does Your Mac have a FireWire Port
    • White MacBooks - don't
    • MacBook-Air - don't
if not then a few Mac’s has a PCM-CIA slot and there are FW-Cards that makes a FW-port this way
    else - NO SOLUTION
Only option as I get it is either
    • Use another Mac to Capture material (to an external USB2 - Mac OS Extended formatted hard disk - or -
    • Change to another Camera that can be used with Your Mac (no there are no miniDV tape Cameras that can)
    • If Your Mac-Book has a PCM-CIA Card place - then there are FW-port-Cards and then
You can import via this - but I've not seen this on more modern Macs. My PowerBook G4
has one and this FW-Card-port works greatly.
    SoftWare
    • Delete iMovie pref. file may help sometimes. I rather start a new account, log into this and have a re-try.
    • Any strange Plug-ins into QuickTime as Perian etc ? Remove and try again.
    • FileVault is off ? (hopefully)
    • Screen Saver - OFF
    • Energy Saver - OFF
    Using WHAT versions ? .
    • Mac OS - X.5.4 ?
    • QuickTime version ? (This is the heart in both iMovie and FinalCut)
    • iMovie’08 (7.1.?), 09 or 11 ?
    • iMovie HD 6 (6.0.4/3) ?
Other ways to import Your miniDV tape
    • Use another Camera. There where tape play-back stations from SONY
but they costed about 2-4 times a normal miniDV Camera.
    • If Your Camera works on another Mac. Make an iMovie movie project here and move it
over to Your Mac via an external hard disk.
(HAS TO BE   Mac OS Extended   formatted - USB/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange WILL NOT DO)
(Should be a FireWire one - USB/USB2 performs badly)

Hi Bengt W, I tried it all, but nothing worked. Your answer has been helpful insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled iMovie from the HD. Thanks for all your suggestions. What I learned is that I had a software problem. I had something called "Nikon Transfer" on my Mac that was recognizing my Canon camcorder as a still camera and was preventing iMovie from working properly. After un-installing Nikon Transfer and doing a reboot, everything worked great.
I never liked the Nikon Transfer software anyway--I guess I'll get a cheap card reader and use that to transfer photos in the future.

    //support.sony-europe.com/tutorials/dime/videotransfer/vtransfer.aspx site=odw_en_GB&sec=DVH&m=HDR-HC7E
What I exactly did.- put camera in play mode - open guide - choose connection guide - choose comp./printer (where to transfer movie to) - select connection.- i-link (on my camera) but equal to firewire - OK - choose HDV - choose NO for conversion of i.link.
Settings are shown then (VCR HDV/DV.- HDV and i.link-conv..- OFF), press OK, OK, END.
Switch camera off. Connect firewire cable to camera & Mac. Switch camera on, in play/edit mode.
Open i-movie, choose import from camera. On screen below the camera connection is shown.- DV (HDV). Now you can import, automatically or manually.
This worked perfectly for me. Took me 2 days to find out. Could not find any clear thread explaining what I had to do on the camera and the manual was not clear either.

  • Can I record my voice slide by slide in Keynote?

I know that I can record my voice over in Keynote by recording the entire slideshow, but what if I mess up on one slide?
Is there a way I can record just slide by slide rather than the whole project?

You can make smaller recordings as audio files in QT and place one audio file on each slide. With the file on the slide and selected, you can set its start using the Build Inspector.
In QuickTime, select File > New Audio Recording and when ready to record, click on the red button. Click on the button again to stop recording. File > Export the file to either the movies folder or your desktop.
In Keynote, either drag the audio file from the desktop to your slide or place the file from the Media Browser (Movies) Tab. Select the audio file on your slide and in the Build Inspector > Build In > Start Audio and in the More Options section select the Start Build On Click or Automatically (and set any desired delays)

  • Query in one step

I have available quantity of some product on my stock in different warehouses.
Now, i have to take some quantity from stock.
I have to take it from warehouse based on priority order.
Every product has some packing unit, for example 10 pieces in one package.
If there is quantity less than packing unit in some warehouse i have to take it on the end.
I should not take all quantity from one warehouse but 10% from every warehouse until I take all required quantity.
I think that the following example is clear enough.
Can someone create a query in one step? Or at least with the less possible steps. I have tried with recursion but with no success so far. If possible without cursor.
CREATE TABLE #test(whId INT, availQ INT, priority tinyint)
INSERT INTO #test(whId, availQ, priority) VALUES
    (1, 100, 1),(2, 5, 1),(3, 40, 2),(4, 30, 2),(5, 60, 2),(6, 20, 3),(7,10,3)
--I need to take quantity=250, 10% on each step, order by priority and quantity
--taking by packing unit=10, if doesn't exist enywhere more than packing unit than take what exists
--step 1: priority 1(first take from the highest priority warehouse): 10%=33, qRemain=qRequired=250
    UPDATE #test SET availQ=67 WHERE whId=1
--(whId=2 has quantity less than packing unti, so leave it untill the end)
    --step 2, stil priority 1, qRemain=250-33=217:
    UPDATE #test SET availQ=34 WHERE whId=1
    --step 3: stil priority 1, qRemain=217-33=184:
    UPDATE #test SET availQ=1 WHERE whId=1
    --step 4: stil priority 1, qRemain=184-33=151:
--now there doesn't exist record with quantity greater than packing unit and priority 1, so take what is left(order by quantity):
    UPDATE #test SET availQ=0 WHERE whId=2
    UPDATE #test SET availQ=0 WHERE whId=1
--step 5: go to priority 2(since priority 1 is already all used), qRemain=151-1-5=145:
    UPDATE #test SET availQ=27 WHERE whId=5
    UPDATE #test SET availQ=7 WHERE whId=3
    --step 6: still priority 2(no row with availQ>qPack), qRemain=145-33-33=79:
    UPDATE #test SET availQ=0 WHERE whId=4
    UPDATE #test SET availQ=0 WHERE whId=5
    UPDATE #test SET availQ=0 WHERE whId=3
    --step 7: go to priority 3, qRemain=79-30-27-7=15
--priority 3 are two warehouses with availQ lower than packing unit, so, take the row with greater Q:
    UPDATE #test SET availQ=5 WHERE whId=6
    DELETE FROM #test WHERE availQ=0
--at the end I have in my stock available quantity=5 on warehouse id =6 and 10 on warehouse id=7
    SELECT * FROM #test
    DROP TABLE #test

I have difficulties to understand some of the basics of the problem. How can 10% of 250 be 33?
I seems to me that you at first should check if the total for the current priority is less than required quantity, and this case you can empty all these warehouses in one go.
It's difficult to say whether this can be done in a single statement and in that case whether it should be done. It seems that the windows function in SQL 2012 could come in handy. Without them, it may be faster with a cursor.
A recursive query may be possible. However, for a query like this it may be a cursor in disguise and not particular faster, only more difficult to understand and maintain.
But if you need to do this for multiple products at one occasion, it is definitely feasible to do this with set-based iteration and allocate warehouses for all products in breadth.
Since you discuss read-committed snapshot: with a single query you would see the same data all the way through the query, as long as you don't use scalar-defined functions with data access. If you are really dependent on the data not changing, you should
use true snapshot isolation. But that assumes that you want to perform your computations on the fixed state when the operation starts, and I am not sure that is what you want. Let's say that in your example that when you start the operation that there
10 units in warehouse 7, but before you come to check that warehouse someone else takes those 10 units (or for that matter deposits 50 new units).
    Let's study the possibilities here:
    1) True snapsnot: you would read 10 for warehouse 7, but when you try to update, you get an update conflict and the operation fails.
    2) Read-committed snapshot, using a single query: You would read 10 for warehouse 7, take those units and then set the quantity for the warehouse to -10. (Or even worse, set it to 0, having taken 10 units that does not exist).
    3) Read-commited without snapshot: when the query reaches warehouse 7, it would read 0, and ignore the warehouse. Or you would read 10 and when you come back to update, the 10 are gone.
    4) You run the transaction with REPEATABLE READ: Someone may steal those 10 units in wh7 before you get there, but that's alright. But once you have read them, they are yours - unless someone else also read them, but have not yet updated the quantity. In
this case, you will get a deadlock.
    5) You use the hint UPDLOCK when you read the data. This the same as REPEATABLE READ, however other processes cannot take out an UPDLOCK on the row. (They can read the row with a shared lock.) This prevents deadlocks.
Here I assuming that you first assmeble what to take from the warehouses in a temp table and then update the warehouses as well your picking-lists. If you update directly and use the OUTPUT clause to get the data for the picking-lists, this alter the equation
somewhat: UPDATE should take out an UPDATE lock for you. But the situations still requires careful analysis, and particularly you need to take care that you don't use the snapshot when you shouldn't.

  • Recomendations for Recording Quality Voice Over in Captivate

We have been working with Captivate to create training
materials for about six months and like it a lot. We are using a
lot of voice overs in our trainings. At the moment I'm using a mid
to low range headset to record the voice over. It is a step up from
your cheap VOIP headset but still isn't a high end model. It cost
about 30 euros. The quality is acceptable but could be improved
    upon.
I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations about
headsets/microphone recording equipment to optimize the quality
when recording voice in Captivate. Are there also any
recommendations about what sort of software is optimal? Are some
sound cards better than others etc? I've tried to find this info in
the Captivate documentation but haven't found any recommendations.
If anyone could give me your own experience or point me in
the right direction for any Adobe recommendations I'd appreciate
    it.
    Many thanks,
    Aimee

Don't use Captivate 2 or 3 built in audio recorder, it
introduces the degradations you experience. We use Adobe Audition
(now Soundbooth) to record and then simply import to the library.
You could of course use any external recording program, just don't
use the Captivate internal recorder and you will get pristine sound
    everytime.
To rerecord or add more to the recording simply right mouse
click from the library and it will launch Audition. Mono 44.1khz,
700 or better kbps for voice recording will result in an excellent
hiss free, no start or end click sound when you play. You must then
find the recording after you have saved your edit in Audition and
right click to update the new changes. It will update the file in
the library and the slide together.
When saving your recording use a naming convention such as
    module 1,chapter 1,slide1 (M1_C1_S1) that way multiple slide 1
recordings will not confuse you in the library when there are
multiple slide 1's from different chapters.
