Automatically refresh Xcelsius SWF without logon prompt from Crystal2008Srv

I'm demoing Xcelsius 2008 Enterprise using Live Office. I have a live office Excel sheet with data and created a new Xcelsius project with a simple pie chart of the data. I created a new refresh button in the project and connected it to my data via the Live Office data connection. I then posted the resulting swf file to our Sharepoint 2007 server as a web part. Now however the swf dashboard prompts me for a user ID and logon to see the dashboard every time. How can I implement this dashboard so that the user sees it without needing to enter a logon. See attached photo for example of what the dashboard is doing on refresh.

Query-as-a-WebService is a tool that allows you to expose a Universe as a web service and in that way you can also leverage a Universe as a source for Xcelsius.

Alterantively you can try with SAML (see Single Sign-On with SAML 2.0 - Security and Identity Management - SCN Wiki for more details), but then you should implement SAML Service provider on the IIS/ASP side, since unless I'm mistaken the IIS not provide it by default. Without any prompt from me, Firefox is continually redirecting itself and displaying a 404 Error message. What can I do to correct this?

Upon laptop start-up, with Firefox as my web browser, I generally visit news sites beginning with with CNN. Aside from updating Adobe Acrobat Reader to the X version, I have not added anything to my laptop (A Sony Vaio A/W series 64 bit operating with Windows 7) recently, but I am continuously being redirected via the 404 error message without clicking or while reading an article. Firefox has also been crashing daily despite efforts to keep the cache clean and a minimum of programs running during use. I use Norton 360 for antivirus protection and update daily and have not found any bugs to suggest adware or malware. I do have Chrome loaded as a secondary browser, but Firefox has been my browser of choice until recently. Help.

Automatic refresh of list without user input

We have a shipping report which we want to display on a large monitor in the warehouse and have it refresh after a defined interval.
I have a test report created which I am able to refresh via FM RS_TREE_AUTOMATIC_REFRESH and call a user-command for refresh. This works but I get short-dumps from time to time, haven't been able to resolve this.
The main report is alv control grid and this doesn't work with this FM.
Is there anyother technique we can use to accomplish this.

I have had my new 21 inch iMac for 2 weeks in that time my iMac has shut itself down by itself without any prompting from myself. It goes to screen saver, then shut itself down can anyone provide an explanation for this occurrance

Hello, purchased my 21 inch imac 2 weeks ago within the last week I have notice my imac shuts itself down after a short period of time once the screen saver is activated. Is there anybody out there who can through some light on this matter. Is it a common occurance? is there anything to worry about? Should it happen at all?

When you say it shuts down, do you mean it powers off, so that you have to reboot it to continue? Or does it merely sleep, or blank the screen?

HELP! Without any prompting for such a download, Firefox tells me 'Thank You for choosing Firefox 4', & I have lost ALL of my bookmarks! I absolutely need to restore them, please please help. Not impressed at all!

I am shellshocked.... so far I am not happy with Firefox's latest effort. When I first got this version, my 'saved tabs' function did not work, which I use regularly, and I lost vital site information with the update. I figured out how to fix this by changing a setting, and figured my problems were over.
But NOW without any prompting from me, Firefox re-opened, having lost the tabs I had, yet again, and instead opened up two new tabs, 'Welcome to FireFox' (ty for choosing firefox4), and 'Mozilla Firefox Start Page', AND I have lost all my bookmarks!, WTF! Please help me to restore them, I have tried the help info provided, but they are still not restored :( Some of those treasured bookmarks, an extensive list, I will never get again, unless I can restore the ones I had. :( NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL.

Thank you for your response, I went throught each and every step without any luck, even got the recovery programme, and painstakingly tried to sift through all that mumbojumbo to find what i needed. finally found the bookmark bit, but it had been fully overwritten :(, so on reading about previous ff versions, found the sqlite thingys, and they were relatively unscathed(partly written over, but saveable apparently TG), saved them to adiff drive, amongst other possibly good folders. Then looked up how to install them, and it said to close FF, and install to profile folder.
So i tried to close FF, and the original problem from a few days ago, where it asked me if 'i was sure i wanted to close this window as it has X tabs open', popped up again. This is where 'open blank page' selection was set, over 'open previous tabs'. Wanting to save that info on how to sort out these friggin files, I reset the Option to 'open previous tabs', and closed FF. After unsucessfully searching for the profile folder on my laptop, i opened FF intending to search online for where i could find said folder.
AND BANG, surprise surprise, the FF I had just closed with only tabs open about finding out what the heck to do, had disappeared, and instead my original saved tabs were up, and my bookmarks are there..... I am gobsmacked! what the heck just happened there???
I have made 3 back up in different folders now, of those friggin bookmarks. I am weary now tho of shutting it all down.... what if its back to the other pages I had with no bookmarks, tomorrow :(

Automatic Refresh of Page

in page 2 user is allowed to change the October to November
when user clicks the back button i was able to display the November ONLY IF the user clicks the refresh button. Otherwise it still displays the old one. So what im looking for is a code that automatically refresh the browser without allowing the user to do that.
Hope somebody could help me.

Send the HTTP Status Header "Expire" or the one for non-cachable with a date in the past when returning page one, so the browser knows he has to request the URL again because it's expired or even was not stored in cache.

Data Refresh on .swf file without Xcelsius installation.

This is the case:
I have made a dashboard for my Boss with Xcelsius 2008. He was impressed.
I put the .swf and the .xls files in a folder on his pc's desctop.
Now he wants to be able to refresh the .swf on demand with a button or something else, when he changes the .xls.
There is no Xcelsius installation on his pc.
Is there any solution? free or not!

He is trying to refresh dashboard from a local file. You can think about keeping your xml at a network location which is accessible from Boss's machine and use the excel xml map connection to get it refreshed.
You can also write some scheduled program which will refresh the xml file on daily basis.

On start-up, PS CS6 Ex opens a new file menu automatically without be prompted to do so. Huh?

Whenever PS CS6 Ex is opened, a new file menu automatically opens without be prompted to do so. This happens whether I'm opening any type of file in PS or just opening PS without a file yet. Once PS is open, this does not reoccur when opening more files from then on, just at start-up only. It's not too big of a deal, just kinda weird.
PS just started doing this a short time ago so I'm guessing it's a Preference setting but can't figure which one.

Thanks for trying but this did not help. I assume you meant for me to open PS CS6 / Window / Workspace & select a new workspace such as Photography or 3D, etc. Then re-open PS & change Preferences / General / Reset all warning dialogue. None of that changed anything.
Below is what happens when I open PS 64-bit; the New file dialog opens. This happens when open PS with a pre-selected file or just launching PS. I also have PS CS6 32-bit on my PC & this does NOT occur when it is launched.

-NO PORTAL LOGON SCREEN should appear when user navigates to portal.
-i should be able to get the logged in user details. Client is ready to create USERs in Portal that are exactly same as the one existing on his webSite.
-Any password/credential changes in the Users data on this customer website should get updated in Portal.

Why dont you configure NTLM...Kerberos authentication.
Using the above, as the user will login into his/her machine, the same credentials will be automatically passed to portal without any login screen and the portal can be accessed.
We are working on similar scenario as yours.

Getting Database Logon Prompt when trying to run report from Infoview

I have a user who has 2 Crystal reports loaded in InfoView. The reports are similar except for the parameters. When scheduling one of the reports, she is being prompted with the database logon information everytime she tries to enter the parameters. But on the other, she isn't. All she is prompted with is the parameters of the report. Which setting in InfoView or CMC controls the database logon prompt? We are on BOE 11.5.

Dynamic Parameters. You'll want to get all your report designers up on this topic.
When you create a dynamic parameter in a Crystal Report, and then publish it to the Enterprise, you are creating a Business View, with all it's underlying necessary layers. Dynamic Parameters exist to be able to use the same LOV (a list of current customers) from a database for more than one report. These dynamic parameter LOVs act like a mini report that runs against the database and gets the current values for selection, then the selection(s) are used to run the overall report.
So I create a report, and in it I create a dynamic Customer LOV. When I save it, the Enterprise creates a Data Connection (DC), Data Foundation (DF), Business Element (BE), Business View (BV), and the list of values is built on the Prompt Group. So, my Business View Manager, Repository Explorer will show (in the default Dynamic Cascading Prompts folder):
Customer_DC
Customer_DF
Customer_BE
Customer_BV
Customer - Prompt Group
Customer (the LOV)
The idea is that next time I create a report and need a customer parameter, I select the existing dynamic group. If the report designer is unaware of this, and next time they create a new report that needs a customer LOV, they creates a new dynamic LOV "Customer", when saved to the Enterprise, it repeats the above. Since repository objects must have unique names, you will now have additional items something like:
Customer 2_DC
Customer 2_DF
Customer 2_BE
Customer 2_BV
Customer 2 - Prompt Group
Customer 2 (the LOV)
So you can see how that folder will get filled with duplicates pretty quickly. Which ones were created and used in which reports? Have to open the report in Crystal Reports, open the parameter for Edit and verify the LOV name (_2, _3, _4, etc). If you do in fact discover there are dupes, you can change it to a single one for all reports using a dynamic LOV, re-save them to the Enterprise, then delete the dupes in the BVM.
You've already discovered how to use the BVM to update the data connection to include/save the database credentials. The only other common issue is sometimes the LOV rights need to be changed in order to allow users to "Edit" the LOV (select different values in the LOV). You'd have to run the report as an end user, not the admin account or the report designer account to verify that works.
Another item of note is that these dynamic LOVs are run by the Report Application Server (RAS), regardless of which viewer you are using.
The Business View Manager administration guide has more information on the subject.

It is possible to embed a Xcelsius model into an SAP WebTemplate (Anil promised to write a blog about this very soon). After that you can include the WebTemplate in the GUI menu, Role menu or Portal.

Does Visio's Automatic Refresh Pull from the Data Source Automatically

Hey Guys,
So, I usually link my Visio to a Macro-Enabled Excel that pulls from my company's Database. If I select the "Automatic Refresh" Box, does it automatically run the Data Source (Alt + F8). Or do I still need to perform that function manually
in order for the Auto Refresh to work.
Because its macro enabled and needs to pull data from our Database, I have to Run the Excel in order for the new data to refresh into my Visio Charts.

also, the guidance from the visio group is to connect directly to your data source, BUT also to have as much data manipulation and calculation done beforehand (macros/views/sprocs/etc) because while visio can do a lot of calculations, it is only meant to
be the presentation later and isn't as efficient.

I want to prevent open websites from automatically refreshing.

I work with many tabs open at the same time during my work day. I wonder if the fact that they automatically refresh frequently is a factor in slowing Firefox. How can I disable the automatic refresh? I do not with to close and reopen as they all require logins and it takes too much time.

I'm not aware of a way to prevent automatic refresh if the page uses JavaScript to achieve this.
It is also possible to do this via a meta refresh tag.
In some cases this extension can help.

It doesn't work with refresh done via JavaScript as will be used in most cases these days.

Don't use the app. That's about the only way to avoid it that I know of.
