Automatically replace jpgs with tiffs of the same file name.

Is there a way to relink automatically files replacing jpgs with tiffs of the exact same file name?
Thank you!

Relink from One Image File Type to Another

Eugene asked an excellent question in the comments to this old post:
Say if I do decide to change the .tif to .psd and I move the .tifs out to another folder, would it or would it not be a good idea if Indesign said, “Hey, those .tifs aren’t available, there’s a similar name with a .psd extension, would you like to use these instead?” Then you just press, yes use my .psd files.
Many folks had asked for this ability, and so Adobe delivered: InDesign CS4 has a feature called Relink to Folder. It’s an awesome command (it lives in the LInks panel menu) because it basically directs InDesign to some other folder on your computer (or server, or whatever), where your images may live. So you can relink a hundred images from one folder to another quickly.
But even cooler, you can tell InDesign whether to insist on the same file type or use a different one. Here’s the control in the Relink to Folder dialog box:
So, you select one or more images in the Links panel, choose Relink to Folder, tell it which folder to look in, and choose a file extension. The original image doesn’t even have to be “Missing”! In fact, the two images (psd and tiff, in your case) can even live in the same folder.
Sweet, yes?

  • When saving a File OS Is Creating Multiple Folders With The Same File Name

    Not sure what I changed but, now when I save a any file (ppt. word, Keynote,Pages e.g.,) to the desktop or any other location the OS will also create multiple file folders with the same file name as the file I'm saving. Inside the folders are what appears to be files locating the saved files. What can I do to fix this problem?
    I'm using the 10.7.2 version

    BTW, I don't know why, but the file was saved only as "000" without the file extension ".jpg". Does anybody know why?
    the extension is simply hidden. go to the get info panel for the file and uncheck the option to hide the extension.
    Then I surf to another image, and again I save it as "000.jpg" and now it asks me if I want to replace the existing filename, although the existing one is "000" and I try to save as "000.jpg", so I say yes, and then magically the file is saved with the full filename including the extension "000.jpg"
    When I did it a couple of times, always saving image as "000.jpg" from various sources, I ended up with two distinct files named "000" and both in the same folder Pictures.
    Please advise.
    it sounds to me like you saved one file as 000.jpg and the other and 000.jpg.jpg.
    check the info panels for the files for full names to verify if this is the case.

  • Different photos with the same file name!! How to change this?

    While I was organizing my photos, I realized there are about 30 or so photos that have the same exact file name as another photo. Example: There are two IMG_1243.jpg, but they are different pictures. They were taken at different times, even different years. I have used more than one camera to import photos. I have changed the name of one of the photos in the Title area in the information section of iPhoto. When I try to put the newly named photo into a folder that has the other IMG_1243, I get a message that says" An older item named "IMG_1243" already exists. Do you want to replace it with the newer one you are moving?"
    I want to have both IMG_1243.jpg photos in the same folder. How can I do this? Also, I have a few thousand pictures, so how can I tell exactly how many photos have the same file name as another photo?

    It sounds like you are using the finder inside the iPhoto library - do not do that - you will corrupt your library and lose the edits, keywords, etc that you have
    iPhoto does not care about duplicate file names - it handles it fine
    changing the title of a photo does not affect the file name - although when you export the photo you can use the title for the file name as an option
    What are you doing and what do you want to accomplish?
    Remember do not ever make any changes in the iPhoto library using the finder or any other program

  • Pick a particular file and keep on target side with the same file name

    Hi Guys,
    I have got couple of files in a folder. I need to pick only two files, I have setup BPM procedure 2 payloads merge. To keep these merged file with  the same source filename.
    Source side file Directory
    abc_12345_20100408101029.xml (abc_seq number_timestamp.xml)
    xxx12345.xml
    test.xml
    abc_12345_20100408101149.xml
    Target Side, How do I keep with the same file name?
    abc_12345_20100408111239.xml ---  same file name with diffrent timestamp.
    One more question: How to setup a file adapter to trigger between 2:00am to 5:00 am? in a particular time
    Does anybody has got quick idea, any links etc.,

    Hi,
    One more question: How to setup a file adapter to trigger between 2:00am to 5:00 am? in a particular time
    For this you can Availability time planning (i.e you can schedule the file adapter to poll for the files with in the time interval i.e 2 -5)...
    for generating the file name at target side you need to look for the Dynamic Configuration as you need to change the timestamp for the file..and i am not sure how this works in BPM..
    in normal scenarios dynamic configuration will help....

  • Can I import 2 sets of photos with the same file name numbers?

    I've inadvertantly not had my camera set to "continuous" for file names and now have 2 memory cards with 2 different sets of images with the same file names.
    Can I still import both into Lightroom 2 without problems?
    What are the consequences?
    Thanks
    Stuart

    Yes. Of course, two files with the same name cannot be in the same folder. And don't forget to uncheck Don't import suspected duplicates during import.
    Another thing is that's not a good idea for good asset management, because someday you'll make some mistake because of this ambiguity. Good DAM practices suggest renaming your files after or during import, so that each files has a unique name across your entire image archive.

  • Opening 2 PDF's with the same file name

    I have someone who has difficulty opening two PDF's with the same file name. They had a file open, then try to open another PDF document with the same file name as the original document, however it will not open (and no error displays) and reverts back to the "old" document. Any ideas?

    Are this diferent documents? What version of Adobe Reader?

  • I can not transfer date from one hard drive to another, I keep getting an error because I have two of the same file names and one file name is in caps and I cant change the file name

    can not transfer date from one hard drive to another, I keep getting an error because I have two of the same file names and one file name is in caps and I cant change the file name. My original external has an error and needs to be reformatted but I dont want to lose this informations its my entire Itunes library.

    Sounds like the source drive is formatted as case sensitive and the destination drive is not. The preferred format for OS X is case insensitive unless there is a compelling reason to go case sensitive.
    Why can't you change the filename? Is it because the source drive is having problems?  If so is this happening with only one or two or a few files? If so the best thing would be to copy those over individually and then rename them on the destination drive.
    If it is more then you can do manually and you can't change the name on the source you will have to reformat the destination as case sensitive.
    Btw this group is for discussion of the Support Communities itself, you;d do better posting to Lion group. I'll see if a host will move it.

  • Refreshing the jeditorpane with the same file name(URGENT)

    Hi,
    I'm having trouble getting the JEditorPane to refresh the contents of an HTML file after updating it. Currently the original version of the file is shown and despite using setPage() with the same filename again, nothing happens, and the displayed file remains the same.
    I've tried removeAll(), validate() etc... but these have provided no results.
    Is there anyway i can clear the contents of the memory or something in order to fetch the updated file again?
    Any answers to this problem would be appreciated

    JEditorPane specifically doesn't allow loading of the same file/URL twice. It's one of the first checks it makes when you set the page.
    I think it'll work fine if you simply call setText("") on the editor pane to clear it down before calling setPage(..) with your file or URL. Even though the setText method doesn't load a file or anything it does create a new document which will not have the same URL as your original file so when you reload you file it will fail in the comparison and load it from scratch again.
    Hope this works for you,
    Drew

  • To retain the same file name in target(File) that coming from source system(AS2).

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement to send the two file from the third party system(GXS) to SAP ECC via SAP PI(version - 7.4). We are using AS2 adapter at the sender side to pick the file and using File Adapter to place the file in ECC.
    Its a pass through scenarion(No ESR part is used).
    Requirement:
    We are going to get 2 files ->Example:  one from Axis and another one from ICICI -> each bank file will have a file name ->
    We have to post the file at the target system with the same name as source file name, the source file name could come dynamically(with diff time stamp).
    Please let me know, Is it possible to achieve the above requirement(we have to retain the file name in target that coming from source system) with Sender AS2 adapter, If yes then please suggest the best approach.
    Regards,
    Pradeep Bawlia

    Hi Guys,
    The above requirement is solved now.
    Solution - I used java mapping for extracting the same source file name and assignning the same to the target system.
    Code:
    public class ExtractFileName_ASMA extends AbstractTransformation{
    public void transform(TransformationInput in, TransformationOutput out) throws StreamTransformationException
    DynamicConfiguration conf=in.getDynamicConfiguration();
    DynamicConfigurationKey key_AS2FileNmae = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/AS2/AS2", "AS2Filename");
    DynamicConfigurationKey key_FileNmae = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http:/"+"/sap.com/xi/XI/System/File", "FileName");
    String As2FileName=conf.get(key_AS2FileNmae);
    conf.put(key_FileNmae, As2FileName);
    try{
    byte b[]=new byte[in.getInputPayload().getInputStream().available()];
    in.getInputPayload().getInputStream().read(b);
    out.getOutputPayload().getOutputStream().write(b);
    catch(Exception e)
    2. Another solution we can use the graphical mapping and need to use the dynamic config UDF at mapping level to acheive this requirement but here is one drawback - we need to do content conversion is this case.
    In case of Java mapping, no need to play with source file.
    WITHOUT USING ESR, WE CAN NOT ACHEIVE THIS REQUIREMENT.

    Pradeep Bawlia

  • Multiple files with the same file name within the same folder

    It looks like a finder bug. To replicate, I surf to any website, I right-click on a jpg image, select "Save Image As" and in the window that pops up I type in the filename "000.jpg", I select the folder Pictures, and click on Save.

  • Why can't I save a form under the same file name with multiple signatures

    I have a form the requires several signature but after the first signature is placed and the form is saved (the lock document is not activated) when the form is opened again and the next signature is added the form now can't be saved under the same name. Why?

    Oh your good....you've been doing this TOO long.....I give you THE COOKIE!!!
    Yes I had explore open and minimized "in preview mode"...you know come to think about it this "preview mode" may be the reason I've had trouble saving other documents....wow....you get TWO COOKIES....

  • Merging events in iPhoto with pictures named the same in each event? Will I lose the photo or will iPhoto rename the duplicate names?

    I am trying to merge 2 events in iPhoto, but i notice that in the first event my photos are named by my camera as DSC_001, DSC_002, etc.  But the same is true of the photos in the second event DSC_001, DSC_002, etc.  If I merge these 2 events will I lose pictures that have the same photo/file name? Or will iPhoto change the name of DSC_001 from the second event when it merges event 1 & event 2?  I am hesitant, I don't want to lose half of my pictures.

    With iPhoto 9 and later when merging events the files stay in their original folder inside the library so there's no problem with files with the same file name.  It's when you export same named files to the same folder on the hard drive that you may run into a problem.

  • Downloads with same file name override each other

    This happens with large files and/or slow connection.
    - The default limit is loading 2 files at a time.
    - Suppose the user is currently loading A.txt and B.txt
    - While loading, user also clicks http://url1/C.txt and http://url2/C.txt (different URL but same name), and they are added to the queue.
    - Firefox loads both of them into a single file, they should be separated instead (C.txt and C-1.txt)

  • Files with same file name in IFS

    Hi,
    Does anyone know if, as IFS uses a "reference model files system", it is possible to store in the database 2 files with the same name (I'm talking to unfoldered files, but I suppose it will be the same for foldered files). If yes, how can I make the difference between the two files using the java api ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Roger.

    Of course Yes, it's not a problem to store two files with the same file name... but they can't be foldered in the same folder.
