Automatically run applications on start up

Hello all:
Does anyone know how to automatically run certain applications such as Mail on start up? I don't think this is an automater function but not completely sure.

sometimes these applications will have a setting in the preferences to not open on login of computer. If you see none of that, you can go into:
system preferences> Users & Groups > Select your user>Login Items.
unlock the settings by hitting the lock icon on the bottom left of the window then youll be able to uncheck these things from opening when you log in.

Minisap application server starts automatically when i switch on computer

Hi there,
I've successfully installed Minisap on my computer, but my problem is the Application Server starts automatically whenever i switch on my computer which slows it down. I tried using XP's scheduled taks to run cmd Stop Application Server but it does not seem to work. Is there anyway i can solve this?

Hi,
Your problem seems a general one and not miniSAP specific.
These are some steps that i think can be a possible solution:
1. Use 'msconfig' to uncheck any startup services of miniSAP (do not uncheck initialisation services)
2. CRITICAL OPERATION (Do not do this if u r not confident.) Use 'regedit' to delete the corresponding registry key in the 'Startup'. The path of this key differs from system to system. You can try searching for the name of the miniSAP application throuthgout the registry.
3. Check if there is any option in the settings of miniSAP to 'Automatically start' (I have not used miniSAP, just incase ther is any option)

Can't run application via Web Start 7 if there is query string in href

Java Web Start 7 cannot run application if there is query string in href attribute in jnlp file.
For example:
<jnlp spec="1.0+" codebase="http://localhost:8080/" href="Test.jnlp?query_string">

There are no any errors. Web Start just does not run application.
But this jnlp could be processed by Java Web Start 6 without any problems.
Is this a bug in Java Web Start 7?
Or using query string in href attribute is not correct by some reason?

If you use default jnlp from this example - everything works ok.
But if add any query string to href attribute then Web Start 7 cannot start application.
For example:

The problem is with Java Web Start 7 Update 7 (build 1.7.0_07-b11).
WebStart 6 can start application using this modified jnlp without any problems.

Go to System Preferences / Accounts - Login Items.
In order to make changes, click the lock icon bottom left corner of the pane. You may be prompted for your admin password.
Select the apps you don't want to launch on startup then click - (minus).

One thing to check: when shutting down or restarting, there is a checkbox in the shutdown/restart dialog which asks whether you want currently open applications to open at startup.

Another, cheaper and possible easier way is...
Blue Apple ( top left of screen ) > System Preferences > Accounts > Log in items.
Then click on the + button and add whatever Applications you want launched at start up.
Makes sense. Saves money. Sounds good to me

Jdeveloper - error at running application

I have JDeveloper 10131 installed on computer with WIN XP SP2. My IP Address obtains automatically.
When I try to run basic ADF application using embeded OC4J server, blank page opens on IE. This application works fine on the other computer. Database conection is OK.

I keep getting the following warning:

What is causing this? It usually happens overnight while I'm not using my phone... so the first time I touch it in the morning it shuts off and resets. The problem started occuring after Sprint switched from "On Demand" to "Pocket Express". I had no idea of the switch, so when I clicked on it the phone automatically updated to the new application. Since then, my phone has been a mess. I deleted the application, performed a hard reset and downloaded it on my phone again.. but still there's problems. This morning, I deleted the "Pocket Express" for good. I figured it wasn't worth it if it's causing all these problems.
Help... please. I'm a novice, so please make sure the solution is something I can understand. Also, do I need to go through my Palm Desktop/Hot Sync program on my computer and delet files too?

After a hard reset and after you delete the program on the device, you will need to rename the backup folder in your username folder on the PC. The backup folder contains all 3rd party programs and settings for your device. When you sync, the backup folder is reloaded onto your device and will bring back the 3rd party programs.
Follow the instructions below for the procedure I described.

Auto Run Application On Network Connect

I have a very simple application that I created in Automator. I want this application to automatically run only after I connect to a *particular wireless network*. I want this all to happen in the back ground (hence the "automatic". Is there any way to do this?
In case it helps, it is an application that mounts a network drive. I want this program to run only when I connect to the network that has the drive connected to it.

One of my customers is looking at a method for distributing and updating
the Forte runtime (not the applications) automatically to all of their
PC (mainly Windoze 95/98) clients.
I know that there are numerous tools that do this, such as SMS or Tivoli,
but this customer has none of these - in fact there is little in the way
of centralised management apart from user management.
So has anybody built anything in Forte, or any other technology ? If they
have, please could they share a brief description of the approach used.

We have almost finished adding the runtime update to one of our existing
tools that might be of interest.
It's a generic client-side updating tool - it updates Forte runtime, Forte
clients, help/ini files and whatever else you need distributed.
Currently, clients must map to a file server where they read a file
containing a "command file" of things to synchronise, install or remove.
The tool is also the starting point for running all Forte client programs
(after checking that everything is up-to-date). Parameters to the program
define the particular application to run and the environment in which to run
it.

How to invoke an application when another applications is started

    Good day. I am a newbie to AppleScript and writing down this seeking your kind help here.
Making my question detail here,
Applcation 1 : Consider this to be some thing kind of server stuff which is running.
Application 2: Consider this to be an application like Automator or any other automation tool for example Sikuli or Squish
My actual scenario is that, When Application 1- is still running and upon its completion I want to instruct to another application to start.
Suppose consider that Application 1 is running and when it is finished I want to invoke another application via apple script.
So here, I want both the scripts from you people that can do this.

1. Invoke Application 1 (via Applescript itself) let it run for few minutes(as it is server kind of stuff, i want it to run) when this is complete then I want to invoke the application 2
2. I am manually invoking the application 1 and I am going away, as it will run for few minutes then on Application completes its job I want Application 2 to be Invoked.
I believe, I am pretty explanatory here, so please help with these

Does Appliction 1 quit by itself when it's done? If so a simple loop should do the trick - periodically check to see if the app is still running:

Crashes when running applications from network share - "Windows cannot access the file for one of the following reasons"

Hi,
starting a couple of weeks ago, we get the following error(s) when running applications from a network share. We don't know what causes this, we are not aware of any major changes in our network infrastructure or client/Server configuration. We did upgrade
a lot of machines to Windows 8, but the issue also occurs on older Win7 computers.
We figured out a workaround though: The applications run fine when launching from a FQDN share (like
\\share.domain.Company.com) and only cause problems when running from
\\share directly. They have worked fine for years without FQDN though.
Any ideas?

It sounds like a DNS suffix issue. When this issue occurs, please try to ping share on the client, then check if the corresponding IP address is correct. If the IP address is wrong, please adjust your settings of DNS to make sure that the client can resolve

After an automatic update, Firefox will start but immediately terminate. How can I fix this problem? I am sick and tired of manually un-installing Firefox!!

Since Firefox version 12, after Firefox automatically applies an update, Firefox will launch and immediately terminate.
The only solution is to manually un-install Firefox, completely clean the registry of Firefox entries, and manually re-install a previous version of Fiirefox that will work -- I use version 4.0. And then manually update that version to the current version.
I DO NOT install the new automatic update option -- that is, the automatic maintenance option.
BUT never the less, EVERY TIME I check for the latest version of Firefox using HELP --> About
Firefox, the UPDATE is AUTOMATICALLY RUN and FIREFOX WILL NOT WORK AGAIN.
I have put with this none sense for 18 versions of Firefox - MAKE IT STOP!!!!!!!

Can you bring up the Profile Manager to create a new profile (possibly when starting in Safe Mode by holding down Shift)?
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
