Automatically shut-off and restart LabView program, and Auto-run at PC restart?

Hello,
I am trying to periodically, say every two weeks, to close and restart a LabView program (stand-alone executable) that is running on a PC. That PC has only the Labview run-time engine installed from the LV program installer.  I knew I can have Windows to do a "Scheduled task" to turn off and on my program, but I am trying to see if there is any alternatives?
Second question is, when creating the LabView installer (so others can just do regular installation to run the executable), can I somehow include a function/option such that the installer will create a short-cut in the Windows Startup folder (in Windows XP, Start -> Program -> Startup).  What I want is that my LV program can start running automatically every time if the computer get restarted or power-cycled.
Thanks for your help!
Rgds,
Harry

You could also buy a product called FireDaemon Pro.
My company hase used this with good success. It includes many options including scheduled restart.

Yesterday my phone automatically shut off I triede everything I knew to turn it on by pressing down the home a nd lock button and it didn't work! Any suggestions?

you can put the phone in recovery mode by holding the home button while you are plugging it into a computer with itunes but this will erass every thing on you phone so it should only be done if you have a back up made or really need you phone

  • My iPhone just shut off and won't turn back on

My iPhone 4 just automatically shut off and now will not turn back on. I have tried plugging it to the wall and into my laptop but nothing is working.

Connect iPhone to the Wall Charger for 10 minutes, it may turn ON itself. If still nothing, keep on charger and Reset, hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until the iPhone begins to start.

macbook shuts off and when I restart it the time is changed? Have I been Hacked?
I am concerned that someone is going to steal my identiy and will in incurr 12 years of bad credit?  I have just installed mountan lion and am unsure if this problem was caused by this? I suspect that if there was someone, or a program was  trying to remotely access my computer then there would be traces of their actions.

How old is your macbook, and what condition is your battery in?
I doubt you're being hacked - more like your battery is dead.
Try doing both PRAM and SMC resets, setting the system time and seeing if they hold. Ensure you are connected to a power source.

  • IMac G5 shuts off and won't restart

Mac suddenly shuts off, and won't restart. Begins to boot, but shuts down again, sometimes after only a few seconds and before the chime, sometimes after 30 seconds, sometimes after several minutes. After many attempts, can sometimes get restarted. If I hold in the power button, I get a long tone, and then sometimes get a gray screen with Linux style text, and if I type mac-boot as prompted, it will usually reboot. Then its good for a day, or several days but eventually, will go off and I can't reliably get back to that gray screen with text.
Not a techie, or Linux fluent...just got there by accident.
Is there something I can do / reset / or replace to fix this? (Yes, I know the computer's old, but I'm not ready to go to the Intel chip and the expense of repurchasing all my software yet!!)
    Thanks for any help.

I have the same 1.8 GHz iMAC G5, and had the same problem of the computer shutting off abruptly, and then not starting up - shutting down after the chime, or sometime during the start-up process (I don't know about the gray screen - never tried that). Eventually the computer just wouldn't turn on at all - now it's dead.
I found this Apple support article recently, which shows how to diagnose a dead iMac G5, to see whether the computer has a bad power supply or a bad logic board. It might be helpful - in my case, it points to a bad logic board. Maybe both are bad (?). The procedure is for a dead computer, but maybe it would show something in your case too.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2173
Good luck. I don't how much it would cost to put in a new logic board or power supply. I love the monitor on the G5 iMac (beautiful non-glossy), and I wish I knew of a way to use the monitor by itself.

You bought a used iPhone. Amazon is not an authorized supplier of iPhones, nor are any of the 3rd parties that sell iPhones there.
You can make an appointment at the genius bar and have it looked at.
If you are very very lucky, it is still under warranty and it wasn't opened or otherwise tampered with before you bought it. In which case, Apple will replace it under warranty.
If it's not under warranty, they will replace it for $199.
If it has been opened or tampered with, they won't touch it.

  • Safari + Silverlight + Full screen = MBP suddenly shuts off and restarts

In the past few weeks, my MacBook Pro has unexpectedly shut off and then started back up three times. Each time it happened while I was watching full-screen Silverlight video in Safari (4.0.3) — twice on the Netflix website and once on the NBC Sports website.
The first time I had been watching the video for several minutes before it happened; I switched to a different computer to finish my movie.
The second time it happened as soon as I switched into full-screen. I watched the rest of the game in a window (i.e., not full-screen) without incident.
The third time happened after seven minutes of full-screen video. I switched over to Camino (1.6.9) and was able to watch the rest of my movie in full-screen without incident.
I've watched full-screen video in Safari many times before without problems, but the last three incidents have occurred the last three times I've done it (i.e., it now seems to be happening every time).
Each time, my MBP was connected to power, so I don't think it's a battery issue. Could it be an overheating issue? The fact that I was running the same software combination each time suggests to me that it's a software problem, but the symptom suggests hardware. Thoughts?

Update, As of today, they STILL haven't shipped me a new battery, they claim they are within their 5-7 business days limit still and that it might/should ship tomorrow.
I went into an Apple Moron Bar today and inquired about swapping one out in the store (they had plenty in stock) because the Applecare tech I spoke to said that it might be a faster option. The Apple 'tech' (seriously, he might be really good at ipods, but I doubt he knows how to turn on anything worth more than $300 with an apple logo on it, much less troubleshoot it) claimed he didn't have any batteries in stock.
"Excuse me, but you have a shelf full of them over there"
"I don't have any for replacement, you are welcome to buy another though or I can order one from Apple"
Great, so my MacDesk Pro is still without battery power.

  • Good day my question is , does anyone of you experiencing when making a call with facetime the phone shuts off and restart

good day my question is , does anyone of you experiencing when making a call with facetime the phone shuts off and restart

    See this veeeeeeeeeery long thread.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3404857
It's an issue with hundreds of phones.  Some claim it's software related, some hardware, some say it's a mixture of both.
Some people have had temporary success with quitting the Phone.app / restoring as a new phone / restoring from an iCloud backup / disabling Siri / toggling speakerphone on & off...
Unfortunately all of the above only been temporary, with the problem recurring again after a few calls, or a few days etc.
So far the only solution that seems permanent has been to replace the phone.  But even so, it's the luck of the draw to recieve a functional phone, and not another faulty one.
I'm completely annoyed as there is no Apple Store near me...... and Apple haven't even acknowledged the issue, despite the above thread being 34 pages long, as of writing.

  • E71 Shutting off and restarting

    Hi
I just bought my first Nokia phone in years, E71, which worked fine for about 2 weeks.
Problem is that sometimes it shuts down and then turns on again, and when it's fully up and running again it will shut off again and the turn on again. This will keep happening until I take out the battery and put it back in again and turn it on by self. I can not press anything in between it's up and running and before it shuts off again, as it's not reacting.
Sometimes it just shuts off and stays off until I notice and then turn it back on.
I don't know if anyone have experienced the above, but I really hope that you have so that you might come with a couple of views on this issue.
Should also be mentioned that I currently live in Singapore, and when the sun is out and burning a hole in my pocket then the battery tends to get really really warm and it is usually when I go inside and the battery is cooling down that it's starting to give me trouble. Mainly then, but far from always.

This is common problem, reported several times on this forum. It is not a hardware problem but a most likely a problem with the operating system and its interface with the network. See related posts at: /discussions/board/message?board.id=communicators&thread.id=28866 and /discussions/board/message?board.id=communicators&message.id=50039#M50039
and maybe some others I missed.
If you can, return the phone to where you bought it and get a different model, that's my advice. Nokia hasn't found anything better than having its customers send the phone back several times, repairing and replacing the phone, but the problem is still there even with a brand new E71. Now they don't even bother returning my calls.

  • Iphone 4s freezing at start up then shuts off and keeps restarting then repeating that process over and over. I have tried to reset the phone two different ways and still this problem occurs after I update it or turn off the phone.

yes the title says most of what is going on.
I recently reset my phone, losing all contacts and pictures. It was working fine, then after I updated it, it will not turn on completely.
It starts up with the apple logo
-goes to the ios 6 (please slide to open) screen
    -then shuts off
-and repeats the process unless I shut the phone off manually
I have tried to hold the lock and the home button down to manually reset the phone
I have also tried reseting the phone completely previously, and I still have this problem.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you!!

I really don't have an answer for that one. I guess that while trying to get things working correctly, I would use the most basic monitor I had which in your case would be the Eizon using the Thunderbolt port and adaptor.
When you boot into Safe Mode the startup is quite slow, but you should get the Apple logo and then the spinning gear below it (release the SHIFT key when it appears.) Then after a little more time you should see a gray progress bar appear below the spinning gear. When that disappears the computer will startup to a login screen.

  • Macbook Pro running very slowly, randomly shutting off and overheating. No idea what the problem is! Please help!

I got macbook pro about a year and a half ago and up until now it has been running fine.
However, in the last few days, it has been started to run tediously slowly!
It wont allow me to open applications and i have to force quit out of any applications I finally manage to have because they freeze or stop responding.
On Google Chrome, pages become unresponsive every few minutes.
Even writing this post took more than 20 minutes as the laptop kept freezing and the webpage became unresponsive.
It also randomly shuts off and when it restarts, a message comes up saying my Macbook was restarted because of an error.
I haven't downloaded or updated anything that I know of recently that would have caused this.
Ive been reading through some of the fourms on this and I thought it'd be helpfull to post some of the information you may need to help me solve this problem!
Id be very gratefull if any of you could help! Thanks!

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • MacBook randomly shuts off and won't charge

I have a 13 inch MacBook that's less than a year old. For the past several weeks I've been having a problem with the computer randomly shutting down. It usually does this even though it's running on A/C power.
When it happens, the computer shuts off and the charger no longer works (ie no light). The computer will turn right back on if I push the button, but I have to unplug and re-plug the charger several times before I can get the light to come back on. Also, after the computer is turned back on, my date/time settings are always wrong, and my computer doesn't automatically remember my wireless network. Any help would be great.
