Automating specific tasks in Aperture

I've been looking for a few days how best to do this, or if it's possible at all, please hear me out (this is not a 'lift and stamp').
Task:
Select a number of images and perform a batch auto-level.
Problem:
I can't seem to find a way to do this. If i were to lift and stamp it's lifting specific values and applying those values to all of the selected images, which is not what i need. I'm looking to perform individual auto-levels to the individual image.
_What I've done:_
I've searched these forums and others looking for a way to use automator or some other method to perform this specific task, so far i'm falling short on solutions.
While i spend more time trying to find out the solution for myself, i figured maybe the forum experts could shed some light.

As a fairly new user to Aperture, I'm finding that there's a certain workflow I would like to start out with from the get-go when I import images from my camera or others that I'm working with... and it's turning in to a lot of repetitious clicking. After a few hundred images I start looking at the clock wondering if there's a diamond in the rough.
After looking at Automator both at the application (lack of scriptable functions for Aperture?) and online for tutorials it's looking that as of yet there may not be the in-Aperture automation I'm looking for (I was hoping to make a action script as in Photoshop CS3). Albeit I'm a beginner at Automator, so I'm hoping to be wrong on this angle.

    I've checked every detail in the task settings and the function involved I've checked every detail in the task settings and the function involved, I have even re-created the task and function, but the error persists.

  • Automating a task in Panther

    A few months ago I set up an old G3 iMac as a server at a small publishing business. Recently, I enabled WebDAV on this server so that staff and colleagues from outside the business can access certain folders remotely. Now I am thinking of automating a task. Specifically, this task is that whenever a user uploads a file to one of the folders on the server it would automatically trigger an email program and send a message that a new file has been added to the server. How would I go about automating this process?

    AppleScript or shell scripting should do it. The Mail interface is probably easier in AppleScript, if you know it (I don't).
    Brief description -- have the boot scripts start a background process (daemon) that scans the directory, sleeping (I dunno, maybe a minute?) between scans. The first time (done at boot before the first sleep), it just records the time -- on subsequent passes, it looks for files within that directory that have changed since the last time it looked, then records the time. If any files changed, it sends a message (to a list?).
    I could write the directory scan/sleep part (in Bourne shell script, a subset of zsh which is available on OS X), but I'm not too sure about the mail interface. Might have to get an AppleScript person in and use osascript to invoke it... How do you send mail from the iMac now?

    Also please tell me how to assign multiple * Project_Relationship_Code * (ex: END CLIENT, GENERAL CONTRACTOR, PRIMARY) for a particular project during project creation?

    Are you not storing the project number in the staging table designed for storing the task data? You can use create_project API to create the project and tasks at the same time with one single call. You may want to try that option

    Hi,
    In an Oracle Data Guard environment, the Scheduler includes additional support for two database roles: primary and logical standby. You can configure a job to run only when the database is in the primary role or only when the database is in the logical standby role. To do so, you set the database_role attribute. This example explains how to enable a job to run in both database roles. The method used is to create two copies of the job and assign a different database_role attribute to each.
    By default, a job runs when the database is in the role that it was in when the job was created. You can run the same job in both roles using the following steps:
    Copy the job
    Enable the new job
    Change the database_role attribute of the new job to the required role
    The example starts by creating a job called primary_job on the primary database. It then makes a copy of this job and sets its database_role attribute to 'LOGICAL STANDBY'. If the primary database then becomes a logical standby, the job continues to run according to its schedule.

    Hello ALex,
    There is not a must to upgrade also your solman 3.2 when you upgrade your satellites, only consider if you need the solman diagnostic or not and also that the new functionality in solman 4.0.
    Which system is unicode, the satellite?
    There is also not problems having a non-unicode solman with unicode satellites and the other, having a unicode-solman "linked" to unicode-satellites.

  • Manage Site-Specific Tasks ERROR

    Hello,
    I have been using Site-Specific Tasks to alert my users when we take our APEX environment down (for patches and upgrades). I created a Site-Specific Task that I guess was just too long. Now, when I go into the ADMIN tool, instead of allowing me to edit/delete the task it throws this error:
    report error:
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
    Is there a table that this task sits in? Can I manually delete it?

    Yeah, since I wasn't seeing those table names I started searching on everything in the DB in hopes of finding something. This is how I picked up the package names.
    What I finally realized was the user I was logging in as didn't have enough rights to see the WWV_FLOW_CUSTOMIZED_TASKS table.

    All is well now after my DBA truncated the table. Still don't know why APEX wouldn't let me edit the field, the only thing I could think of is maybe some of the HTML tags I was using was messing it up. Now that I have access to the field, I can put the full task I created into the forum:

  • How to edit roles for specific tasks in IR & ID?

    Hello XI gurus,
    I need to assign access to specific tasks in IR & ID to dialog users. I tried creating separate roles in IR & ID but they need to have abap roles in the backend. But If I give some abap roles then the user will be having complete access to IR & ID. Can any one please help me how can i get this done.
    I ran the trace as well from ST01, but no luck. The actions are not getting traced. Any help will be rewarded. Thanks in advance.

  • Problem using customer-specific task list

    Hi,
    I've created a customer-specific task list zap0 (copy of sap0) and defined additional tasks for the list.
    When using this task list for a change request, I get the message
    Internal Phase Controller Problem
    Message no. /TMWFLOW/TASKLIST176
    The task list has status created, when trying to change the status, I get the message
    INDICATED_CYCLE_NOT_FOUND
    Does anyone know this problem?

  • Advancing wfs to specific tasks through script

    Hello,
    Is there a batch way (i.e. through a script) to advance workflows to specific tasks?
    Two alternatives were considered:
    1) Through the java admin applet, to expedite each workflow to the desired task. This is much too slow for us.
    2) Through the wf_engine.CompleteActivity command, but this requires for the specific activity to be notified; it cannot be performed on any activity but only on the notified ones. So it is useless in our case.
    Any ideas?

    If you are using Workflow 2.6.2 on 9iR2 you can access the workflow manager from the enterprise manager utility bulk process work items.
    1. Workflow Manager -&gt; Work Items (in the Related Links section at the bottom of the page) -&gt; View(Errored Work Items).
    2. Select one of these work item types, and click View Details. Select one of the work item activity stages (ie. the activity name where the workflow errored) and click View Details. Now you will see a list of all the work items that had errored at that activity.
    3. For an individual work item, you can abort, retry or even launch the workflow monitor. But, the big benefit for a System Administrators is that they can now Abort All or Retry All on all of the workflows at that stage.
    4. The same kinds of administrator mass actions are available for active, suspended and deferred workflows as well.

  • Can I sync specific faces from Aperture 3 to Apple TV?

    iPhoto '09 allows you to pick specific Faces (in addition to albums) to sync with Apple TV. Can Aperture 3 do this?

    Would you perhaps get the same functionality if you created a Smart Album?
    For example, set the basic rule to +Face <includes> Chartier+ to get all photos in which you'd identified yourself or, say, members of your family. You could, of course, add a lot of refinement to the album's filter.
    I don't have an Apple TV with which to directly test this, but looking at the Media browser in Keynote shows the test Smart Album I just tried, so I think it probably should work...

  • Help With Automating Photoshop Tasks

    My company Mid South Sports Media works with a number of Mixed Martial Arts fight promoters and we provide a service to them where we set up a laptop, several printers and a photo booth and offer photographs taken with UFC stars like Tito Ortiz and others. We call this Fan-Photos.
    We design and use specific templates in Photoshop CS4 for use at these fight events. They become the boarders for the photos we take with fans of the fighters.
    Our current booth setup and workflow at these events goes like this:
    We set up a photo booth with studio strobe lights, a backdrop and a Canon digital camera connected by a USB cable to our laptop. We use the software provided by the camera manufacturer (Canon) to remote operate the camera and view the resultant image on a second large screen monitor.
    At the same time we have our laptop and photoshop up and running with our event template.
    Fans stand in line to have a photo made with a MMA star,
    They pay for a photo, step up and we take the photo with the MMA star,
    Here is where my macro question comes into play...
    1. After the fan-photo is taken and appears in a folder on the large screen monitor,
    2. We have to drag that photo over to the laptop screen into photoshop into a seperate artboard,
    3. We then have to reposition the artboard so that we can drag the photo into our template and position the photo under the boarders template layer,
    4. Then we have to start the print sequence to output the image to the printer,
    5. Then we have to drag the photo (not the template just the photo taken) to the trash bin to start the sequence all over again with the next customer.
    Is there a way of designing a macro that will automatically do steps 2 - 5 and it operate quicker than our booth operator can do it.
    Any assistance would appriciated because we know little about macros.

    BQWHIT - not sure your question has really been answered at all…
    • Scripting is used where there are variables (things that need to be done DIFFERENTLY depending on the source images) - complex image specific calculations. Or complete workflows set up.
    • Actions (automation) are used where a series of predictable steps can be recorded. These are extremely versatile, for example its possible to automate such things as copy and pasting between documents (which you will probably need to do), repositioning of items, color correction, rescaling. Playback is also faster using Actions.
    From your description it sounds like a job for Actions not scripts. Its quite difficult to tell from what you have said, and you need to be more specific, not referring to things like 'monitors' and 'laptops'. These are things that you will have to work out as part of your own wokflow. Now, scripting your PC's to open the correct files, ot move them across the network MAY be a part of the  process thats true, but its unlikely that you will have much use for Photoshop scripting here. Opening specific files (for example your 'template' file) can all be done using Actions. Actions are also easier to edit and to work with.
    drag the photo (not the template just the photo taken) to the trash bin
    to start the sequence all over again with the next customer.
    One piece of advice, which I hope you will take seriously - best to NEVER delete your source images, you never know when they will be needed. Better to move them to a sub folder on an external drive maybe.

    Iu2019m seeking a solution for a UWL issue.  Background:  Weu2019ve configured a specific workflow task for use when a travel expense form is returned for correction. Weu2019ve also configured the XML code so that a comment is required upon returning a travel expense form to the initiator.  The solution Iu2019m seeking is this, what XML code do I use to force the view Memo to default for the workflow task that handles the returned item.  Currently the preview view defaults, but weu2019d like the return comments to show first in this situation.   Thank you for any help that you could provide

  • Automator move items to Aperture Trash

    Is there a way to tell Automator (or Applescript) to move all pictures from a project to the Aperture Trash?

    I still haven't found an answer, two options, move the pictures to a pre-trash project I manually empty periodically or I move the project to the trash using applescript:

    the problem is that this gives an error so I use "try" so the error doesn't appear.
    seems there's still some work to do on the combo Applescript (or Automator) and Aperture.

  • How to crop & print specific sizes in Aperture

    I have a project I am working on where I need to make a series of prints that are flush-mounted onto boards that are 2.25"x5". I want to take images from my Aperture library, crop the long and skinny portion from them them, and print them out on my Inkjet printer (single prints on 4x6's on my Canon 6220 for tests, but I am going to want to print multiple-up prints on 5x7 paper once I get going as I need 10-20 copies of each print). I started by cropping (using the Custom feature) and then using a 4x6 preset in the printer dialog with the image size set to 2.25x5. I, of course, have run into the issue that the crop tool does not crop by inches, but rather pixels, and only in certain aspect ratios. I have tried making an export preset, as some suggested, but that only works if the image is the right size to begin with. By chance, some of my prints are exactly the right size, but mostly they are a bit short or wide...
    How do I make a template or crop guide so that I can crop-out the portion of my image that I want, keeping it in the correct aspect of 2.25x5, and then print it out at the exact size? And then how will I do this as a multiple print job on a single piece of 5x7 paper? Do I need to figure out how many pixels a 2.25x5 print will be? Can I set a custom aspect somehow? I know in PS there is the ability to set the "canvas Size" and work the image into that, but I don't have PS on this machine. I have Pages to work with as well, but no Illustrator or InDesign apps or skills. Ideas?

    If you select Do not constrain or Custom in the crop tool you can set the crop to any aspect ratio you like. You can either drag the box or enter your dimensions in the tool. Note it won't take decimal points in the dimension boxes so in your case enter 500x225
    The crop tool only reports MP because inches would make no sense here. The image could be exported and printed at any size the crop tool only sets the aspect ration of the image.
