Automating the Auto Levels process

As part of my work flow after importing the files into Aperture and applying meta data I then apply Auto levels to each image in turn, this is a very manual process involving the mouse and the right arrow key to move to the next image, wait for it to be read then press the auto levels button and then right arrow to the next image.
Is there a way to get Aperture to go through all the images in an Album applying the Auto levels command to each image individually.
It may even by by a keystroke macro process if there is such a one for OSX.
I do not want to lift the adjustments from one corrected image and apply them to all the images as this does not reflect the auto needs of each image.
After auto levelling each image I select the images for customised work.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Yes it worked - you have to redefine the action for each time you run aperture as the button for the auto levels function moves around the screen according to where you have the Aperture window.
You also have to allow for Aperture slowing down so you have to build in a delay before pressing the Auto button.
While running this process you cannot run another app that will sit over the Aperture window or take focus from Aperture.
What surprises me is that the two Auto buttons do not have keystroke alternatives. (or at least I could not find them in the documentation)

  • How to reverse the auto levels recording to normal levels?

    Hi!
    What I want to say is that I have a recording taken with Zoom H1 and the Auto Levels switch was accidentally on. That of course makes the parts of the recording after a pause to start too loud and then when the signal goes to high, makes it too quiet. It's not nice.
    Is there a way to level out the recording? It's a speech and I know that it can be done using Speech volume leveler, but I don't want to use that either. What I am interested in is that is there a way to capture a noise print or the print of desired level of audio and then level out the rest of the audio by referencing to the print volume? In other words, reverse the Auto Levels effect back to normal. Is that possible?
    Thanks!

    I tried Speech Volume Leveler and the thing that I don't like in my particular situation is that it boosts the quieter signals up to the level of louder ones and that means also boosting noise. It would be nice to do the other way around, that is attenuate the louder signals to match the quieter ones. Is that possible to do with Dynamics Processing? How to do it?
    Which version of Audition are you using? There are Advanced options on later versions that allow you to keep the noise down.
    But what you are looking foe in Dynamics Processing is the Downward Expander. As an example look for instance at the E. Guitar Gate preset. It is a rather extreme version of what you want to do but gives you some idea where to start.

  • Automating the import / export process in 9.0.2

    In Portal 3.0.9.x the export and import were entirely command-line driven tools, so it was possible to automate the process to a certain degree.
    In 9.0.2 the import/export process is a combination of scripts and manual actions through the Portal UI to import and export the transport sets.
    Is there any way in 9.0.2 to automate this process ?

    You make me feel better. I am having THE problem. Logs say it was all a success but NOTHING is imported. I tried with portal 9.0.2.2.22 on Win2000 and now I'll try it on 9.0.2.2.14A on Sun. What did you use?

  • Automating the cube load process

    Hi All,
    I have created the essbase cube using Hyperion Integration services 9.3.1 as my datasource is the star schema residing in a oracle db. I can successfully load the cube and see the results in smart view.
    I want to know how I can automate the data loading process(both dimension and fact) into the essbase cubes either by using unix scripts and windows .bat scripts.
    Your inputs are Appreciated. Thanks in Advance.
    Regards
    vr

    What everyone has shown you is the use of esscmd or MaxL, howevery you stated you are using EIS. Until you get to 11.1 and use Essbase studio, these won't help you. What you will need to do is to go into EIS, then select your metadata outlline. Pretend you are going to build the cube manually. Start scheduling it, when you get to the screen that allows you to schedule it or create a file, create the file only. You will want the name to end in .cbs (Hint, if you select both outline and data load, you will get all the statements in one script)
    After you are done, if you look on the EIS server under arborpath\EIS\Batch, you should see the .cbs file you created. It is a regular text file so you can look at it. If you open it, you will see loaddata and/or loaddimensions statements This is what does the work.
    To run it, create a batch file with the command olapicmd -fscriptFileName >logfilename
    For more information about the Integration Services Shell look at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/eis_sysadmin.pdf Chapter 5 tells you everything you need to know

  • ITunes to include SxxExx to the auto naming process

    I'm using iTunes to manages my media library. I'm having difficulties with the auto naming associated with TV programmes, is there a way to allow iTunes to name the file so it includes SxxExx?

    You're not talking to Apple here. Use iTunes feedback for that.
    Are you refering to the naming of the episode within iTunes, or the file on disc?
    In principle TV Shows are grouped on the Show field and within a show sub-grouped on Season No. In practice recent builds of iTunes and/or Apple TV/iOS firmware seem to be taking account of Album, Artist & Album Artist in certain views. For consistency I therefore suggest the following approach:
    Show = Album = <Show Name>
    e.g. "Heroes"
    Artist = Album Artist = <Show Name> or <Show Name> Cast (or something like that)
    e.g. "Heroes Cast"
    Season No. = <Season No.> or <Blank> (Separate seasons or all listed together)
    e.g. 1-2
    Episode ID = s##e## (This field, sorted alphabetically, controls order)
    e.g. s01e01 - s02e34 (use s##e### when >99 episodes - I prefer to use absolute episode no. here)
    Episode No. = Track No. = <Absolute Episode No.>
    (Can also be per season, but abs. is better) e.g. 1 - 34
    Disc No. = <Season No.> (Can be set even if merging seasons)
    e.g. 1-2
    Taking this approach you can always merge or split into individual seasons simply by clearing or setting the Season No. field.
    or
    For general tips on organizing media in iTunes see Grouping tracks into albums. Note that sort fields should not be used to link things with different main values.
    If you use the scheme above, and you let iTunes manage the media files, you may find they are renamed in a way that suits your needs better.

  • Automating the book building process in FM11 - best tool?

    Hi - we're gearing up to create an automated book-building process using FM11.
    Before we start, a quick straw-poll:
    What do you folks recommend / suggest as the best automation tool?
    We want to trigger the process when SGML files are dumped into a directory. When we've done directory-triggered automation in the past under FM7.1, we've tended to use VB.NET code to trigger an instance of an FM7.1 API client (usually to build and collate PDFs, etc)... but, since we're in a new era with a new release of FM, we thought we'd take an open-minded, 'blue sky' approach here and see what tools members of the Framemaker community are using.
    If one particular approach seems to be easier / more advantageous / more widely adopted than any of the others, then I think that might nudge us down that road...
    Thanks.

    Hi Nigel...
    You might want to look at our plugin, AutoFM ..
         http://leximation.com/tools/info/autofm.php
    This lets you drive FrameMaker from an XML file and a batch file (or other command line scripting). The XML file contains the instructions on which files to open and what to do with them. You can perform various basic functionality like saveas, print, update book, etc. It also lets you call other automation options like ExtendScript, FrameScript, or FDK clients to extend the processing as needed.
    Download the 30-day trial and see if it does what you need.
    AutoFM is the piece that is used to drive DITA-FMx (via FMx-Auto) in this video for automated DITA to PDF publishing, but can be used for any type of FM automation ..
         http://blog.leximation.com/2012/02/automated-dita-to-pdf-publishing-with-fmx-auto/
    Keep in mind that various types of FrameMaker automation may require using FrameMaker Server .. so be sure to check the EULA and use the right FM version for your needs.

  • Unable to set default date for Date Picker item using Auto Row Processing

    Okay, I have searched through the forum for an answer, and have not found a thing to account for my problem.
    First, does anyone know if using Auto Row Processing has problems updating an item/field in a record where the Source is defined as Database Column if the 'Display As' is defined as 'Date Picker (MM/DD/YYYY)'?
    I ask this only because I found out the hard way that Auto Row Processing does NOT fetch the value for an item where the field is defined as TIMESTAMP in the database.
    My problem is as follows: I have a form that will CREATE a new record, allowing the user to select dates from Date Pickers, text from Select Lists, and entering in text into a Textarea item. The information is saved using a standard (created through the Auto Row Processing wizared) CREATE page level button. After the record is created the user is able to go into it and update the information. At that time, or later, they will click on one of two buttons, 'ACCEPT' or 'DECLINE'. These are Item level buttons, which set the REQUEST value to 'APPLY' (Accept) and 'UPDATE' (Decline). The Accept button executes a Process that changes the Status Code from 'Initiated' to 'Accepted', and sets the Declined_Accepted_Date to SYSDATE, then another Process SAVEs the record. The Declined button runs a Process that changes the Status Code from 'Initiated' to 'Declined', and sets the Declined_Accepted_Date to SYSDATE, then another Process SAVEs the record.
    However, even though the Status Code field is updated in the database record in both Accepted and Declined processing, the Declined_Accepted_Date field remains NULL in the database record (by looking at the records via SQL Developer). WHY??? I looked at the Session State values for both the Status Code and the Declined_Accepted_Date fields and saw that the fields (items) had the expected values after the process that SAVEs the record.
    The following is the code from the Accept button Page Process Source/Process:
    BEGIN
    :P205_STATUS_CD := 'A';
    :P205_REF_DECLINE_ACCEPT_DT := SYSDATE;
    END;
    As can be seen, the Status Code and Declined_Accepted_Date items are set one right after the other.
    As an aside, just what is the difference between Temporary Session State vs Permanent Session State? And what is the sequence of events to differentiate the two?

    Here's yet another thing that I just looked into, further information...
    One other difference between the date field I am having problems with (Accepted_Declined_Date), and other dates (with Date Pickers) in the record is that the Accepted_Declined_Date never gets displayed until after it is set with a default date when the Accept and Decline buttons are pressed.
    One of the other dates that works, the Received Date, is able to write a default date to the record that is never typed into the box or selected from the calendar. That date is placed into the box via a Post Calculation Computation in the Source, which I set up as: NVL(:P205_REF_RECEIVED_DT,TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'MM/DD/YYYY'))
    However, I do remember actually trying this also with the Accepted_Declined_Date, and setting the Post Calculation Computation did not work for the Accept_Decline_Date. Could this be because the Accept_Decline_Date is never rendered until the Status Code is set to Declined (in other words, there is no need to display the date and allow the user to change it until the record is actually declined)???
    The control of the displaying (rendering) of the date is set via the Conditions / Condition Type: Value of Item in Expression 1 = Expression 2
    Expression 1 = P205_STATUS_CD and Expression 2 = L
    Does this shed any light???

  • Remove leading zeros for invoice lists to allow auto lockbox processing

    I have a change request for the following document at my job. but i am very new into it and do not know how to start and what to do exactly? can anyone please help me what to do in this matter.
    SAP auto posting process for lockbox checks was created to post cash with minimal manual intervention.
    Transaction FLB2 is used to import a lockbox file from Bank of America containing customer payment detail to auto match and clear invoices in the AR subledger. The auto post program tries to match an invoice number from the Reference field to the invoice # in the lockbox file which does not have any leading zeroes. In order to allow this match to happen a user exit was developed to remove any leading zeros from the Reference field in the invoices It works fine for regular invoices but not for the invoice lists u2013 invoice numbers in the 76xxxxxx range. The leading zeros are not removed there, so these invoices fall out of the auto posting process. It has been expressed that we need to improve our automated check posting hit rate for better efficiencies, and to do so we need to have these invoice list invoices fixed in the same way as the regular invoices are.
    please advise
    Vishal

    can anybody please answer it?

  • How to reference page attributes (e.g. name) in application level process

    How can I access the NAME of a page while in an application process? Is this possible, without setting some sort of app-level current page name variable? (Which would defeat the purpose of the app level process :)
    Thanks,
    Carol

    When an application process runs at a firing point other than On Demand the current page name can be obtained using this SQL:
    select page_name from apex_application_pages where application_id = v('APP_ID') and page_id = v('APP_PAGE_ID');
    When an application process is invoked "On Demand" by way of AJAX, the page ID in the request is usually 0, so there is no page context available. However you could pass an item name/value into these requests and use that item value in the query against apex_application_pages.

  • What is the iPhoto levels tool doing that the Aperture tool isn't?

    I just bought a copy of Aperture, and I love it, except for one thing. I am used to performing quick and dirty improvements of my outdoor photos using the levels tool in iPhoto - I find it gives excellent results with minimal effort.
    However, I am not having the same luck with the levels tool in Aperture. Look at the following picture.
    http://avalys.net/ap/original.jpg
    http://avalys.net/ap/iphoto.jpg
    http://avalys.net/ap/aperture.jpg
    http://avalys.net/ap/iphoto-final.jpg
    The first photo is the original. The second photo has had the black point set using the levels tool in iPhoto (the left slider), and no other modification. The third photo has had the same thing done in Aperture. Notice that Aperture introduces a blueish color cast to the shadow on the rocks, and produces an odd effect (I don't know what to call it) on the bushes.
    What am I doing wrong here? What is different about iPhoto's level tool, vs. Aperture's?
    The fourth image is the full version of the original with just that single adjustment in iPhoto applied (dragging the left level slider over a bit). Try as I might, I can't reproduce the same modifications to the original in Aperture, even with a multitude of adjustments.
    MacBook Pro 2.4 15"   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

    I have never worked with the levels tool in iPhoto, so I do not know how it works exactly but I know why you get that blueish tint in shadows and how you can avoid it.
    If you select RGB (or in your example even better the individual channels) instead of luminance in the levels tool in Aperture, you will see that the left side of the histogram ends at a slightly different position for all three colors. When you move the left slider in the luminance (or RGB) view you often cut off different amounts from the three colors, that plus the resulting re-adjustment of the rest of the histogram can cause color casts.
    One way to avoid these color casts is to set the 'blackpoint' separately for the three channels. A bit cumbersome and it can be tricky to get it right. Fortunately, Aperture has a build-in tool that can shift the blackpoint and largely avoid any unwelcome color casts.
    It is called the 'Auto-level - separate', the right-most button just directly under the histogram at the top of the adjustment HUD. It does exactly what I described before, set the 'blackpoint' separately for the three colors. Make sure you check and possibly adjust its default threshold settings (via the button in top-right corner of the HUD). It also adjusts the 'whitepoint', so it might do a bit more than you want it to.
    I have also found that the sliders in the Exposure section do a better job at maintaining natural colors than the levels slider (which is a bit of a pity, as the level controls offer you much more flexibility).

  • Auto levels on import preset

    I tried a search to see how you can get AP3 to do an "auto levels" adjustment during import, but I am not sure how to do it. If I do an "auto" adjust on an image and then create a preset, does AP3 apply the levels based on that particular file used, or will it actually look at each file individually and make the correct adjustment for each file during the import? Or is there a different way to correctly apply auto levels during import?
    Thanks in advance.

    this is fairly easy. the only thing you have to do is create an adjustment preset to do just that.
    steps:
    1-click on an image and go to the Adjustments tab
    2-apply auto-levels on that image (and nothing else)
    3-in the Presets drop box, choose Save as Preset (Aperture is intelligent enough to remember you've applied the Auto-levels)
    4-in the preset management box, give it some name
    5-on following imports, just apply this preset to your images on import and voilà.

  • Syntax for page level process to invoke an on-demand app level process?

    I want to use a page level process (if that's the right thing to do) to run an application process on-demand each time certain pages load. What is the proper syntax for the page level process?
    I tried many variations of the following but it does not pass syntax checking.
    1.
    APPLICATION_PROCESS=GLOBAL_UPDATE;
    2.
    begin
    APPLICATION_PROCESS=GLOBAL_UPDATE;
    end;
    What is the proper syntax?
    Thanks,
    Linda

    Linda - If you want to run an application process when certain pages load, just create an application process (PL/SQL type) with the desired firing point, e.g., On Load: Before Header and in the process condition use a condition type like "Current Page Is Contained Within Expression 1 (comma delimited list of pages)". No need to create either a page process or an on-demand application process to do this.

  • Flickerring after applying auto levels filter

    Don't have enough lighting on my clips. I added the auto levels filter and it looks great, but I notice lots of flickering when there is movement. The flickering did not exist before applying the filter. And when I apply the anti-flicker filter it doesn't seem to do much. Would a software like Avid be better at adding light to a clip? Is there something else I could do with Adobe Premiere CS3 to address this problem?
    Thanks

    Don't use Autolevels. You rarely get good results with the easy button
    solution. Use Curves instead.

  • Batch auto exposure or auto levels for a bunch of RAW images?

    Hi,
    I want to apply the "auto level" to a bunch of RAW images all at the same time. I've tried to use the lift+stamp tools, but they lift the applied level instead of the function "auto level" itself, and thus uses the same levels for all the images. I've also tried to uncheck the "Primary only" function, but it still doesn't work - if I select a bunch of photos and press "Auto level", only one of them will have it applied.
    Does anyone have an idea of a way to do this?
    Thanks!

    There was a post a week or so back that discussed this and one way of achieving it.
