Automating the import / export process in 9.0.2

In Portal 3.0.9.x the export and import were entirely command-line driven tools, so it was possible to automate the process to a certain degree.
In 9.0.2 the import/export process is a combination of scripts and manual actions through the Portal UI to import and export the transport sets.
Is there any way in 9.0.2 to automate this process ?

You make me feel better. I am having THE problem. Logs say it was all a success but NOTHING is imported. I tried with portal 9.0.2.2.22 on Win2000 and now I'll try it on 9.0.2.2.14A on Sun. What did you use?

Can't start the Import Export Wizard - "No Description Found"

Been trying for ages to get access to the Import/Export wizard. If I install the base SQL 2005 install I can use it, but there's no flat file option, which I need. Once SP1 or SP2 is installed I get the error below. I've tried re-registering the msxmlX.dlls but doesn't change anything.
I don't have Visio installed, which was another suggested cause.
This wizard will close because it encountered the following error: (Microsoft SQL Server)

Users opposing- the Import PO process

hi experts,
As we all know in case of import creation of PO, MIGO, and MIRO is a lengthy and tedious process as while creating PO we have to enter all custom duties and against each condition the vendor and if the PO has many items say 50 then it becomes really a tough job.
My issue is the import process is facing tough resistance from users.
For the import pricing procedure I have maintained the conditions for CVD, Basic duty of customs, edu cess, ADC, etc.
Since these conditions are at item level, the client is finding it very very tedious and difficult to go at each line item and fill in for all line items, if there are more items say 50 items for import.
Can we maintain these conditions-CVD, Basic duty of customs, ADC, etc at header level? Is this the right way? What I see is the problem that if the items are with different custom rate then it will be an issue.
As import POs are not with GR-based invoice verification, at the time of MIRO when entering bill of entry from custom office, for say 50 line items it so puzzling and confusing to enter the details in MIRO.
Experts please share with your experience what should be done to make the life of user comfortable at the time of PO and especially MIRO? And what is the right way?
With this type of process users have become against SAP, they feel there current system is better and comfortable then SAP- as making import po, then entering in each condition the vendor details and in MIRO to find against which item what is the duty?

before proceeding further I want to clarify some doubts, as access sequence is cross client and i have fear in doing that.
1) as you have mentioned Except the custom duty, rest all like CVD, Ecess1, Ecess2, ADC, SEcess.. all these are fixed values irrespective of material or vendor.
do i have to maintain different access sequence for each condition type? can i leave with one access sequence for all condition types ?
2) when creating the new condition table what fields do i have to select?
can i copy the std 0002 access sequence and insert new condition table in it?
3) Similarly for custom duty, when i maintain a different access sequence with material as a key how can i enter many materials in the field spec.value source
if possible if you can simulate the solution and send me the screen shot in mail i will be greatful to you

Where is the "import/export" feature for backingup/restoring bookmarks file?

In 3.6x, I could go to the Bookmarks tab and open the "Export bookmarks" and backup up my bookmarks to an external back up drive. Conversely, I could go to the Bookmarks tab and open the "Import bookmarks" and bring in a saved bookmark file. I upgraded to 9 this evening and, so far, in 9, for the life of me, I can't find the "Import bookmarks" / "Export Bookmarks" feature. In the past, I've experienced crashes whereby I've lost ALL of my bookmarks. With 3.6x, I could backup the bookmark file daily if I so desired but, with 9, I can't do it! HELP!

And, well, DUH!...I've used "Show all bookmarks" so many times, over the years, I simply forgot what it was called!...I would just go there, click on it and do my backups...When I went to do so, last night, with 9.0.1, I simply didn't recognize it and, thought "Show all bookmarks" would somehow "unpack" all the carefully-foldered bookmarks I've developed over the years...
Hmmm...call it a "senior" moment...

Automating the cube load process

I have created the essbase cube using Hyperion Integration services 9.3.1 as my datasource is the star schema residing in a oracle db. I can successfully load the cube and see the results in smart view.
I want to know how I can automate the data loading process(both dimension and fact) into the essbase cubes either by using unix scripts and windows .bat scripts.

What everyone has shown you is the use of esscmd or MaxL, howevery you stated you are using EIS. Until you get to 11.1 and use Essbase studio, these won't help you. What you will need to do is to go into EIS, then select your metadata outlline. Pretend you are going to build the cube manually. Start scheduling it, when you get to the screen that allows you to schedule it or create a file, create the file only. You will want the name to end in .cbs (Hint, if you select both outline and data load, you will get all the statements in one script)
After you are done, if you look on the EIS server under arborpath\EIS\Batch, you should see the .cbs file you created. It is a regular text file so you can look at it. If you open it, you will see loaddata and/or loaddimensions statements This is what does the work.
To run it, create a batch file with the command olapicmd -fscriptFileName >logfilename

Using automator to import/export from qt

i have an operation i perform repeatedly and would like to write
an automator script to do it automatically.
what i'd like to do is:
1. open an image sequence in qtplayer
2. file--->export
3. set options (like custom size, what codec)
4. save the export as the same filename as the first file of the image sequence
can this be done via automator?
can anyone point me to some info on passing parameters to qtplayer via automator?

I would dearly like to know if there is a solution to this as well.
Trying to bash out a Cleaner watch folder template where
1) OSX will constantly monitor a drop folder
2) wrap any image sequences up as Quicktimes
3) send the Quicktime to a new folder for Cleaner to take over

Automating the Auto Levels process

As part of my work flow after importing the files into Aperture and applying meta data I then apply Auto levels to each image in turn, this is a very manual process involving the mouse and the right arrow key to move to the next image, wait for it to be read then press the auto levels button and then right arrow to the next image.
Is there a way to get Aperture to go through all the images in an Album applying the Auto levels command to each image individually.
It may even by by a keystroke macro process if there is such a one for OSX.
I do not want to lift the adjustments from one corrected image and apply them to all the images as this does not reflect the auto needs of each image.
After auto levelling each image I select the images for customised work.

Yes it worked - you have to redefine the action for each time you run aperture as the button for the auto levels function moves around the screen according to where you have the Aperture window.
You also have to allow for Aperture slowing down so you have to build in a delay before pressing the Auto button.
While running this process you cannot run another app that will sit over the Aperture window or take focus from Aperture.
What surprises me is that the two Auto buttons do not have keystroke alternatives. (or at least I could not find them in the documentation)

Automating the book building process in FM11 - best tool?

Hi - we're gearing up to create an automated book-building process using FM11.
Before we start, a quick straw-poll:
What do you folks recommend / suggest as the best automation tool?
We want to trigger the process when SGML files are dumped into a directory. When we've done directory-triggered automation in the past under FM7.1, we've tended to use VB.NET code to trigger an instance of an FM7.1 API client (usually to build and collate PDFs, etc)... but, since we're in a new era with a new release of FM, we thought we'd take an open-minded, 'blue sky' approach here and see what tools members of the Framemaker community are using.
If one particular approach seems to be easier / more advantageous / more widely adopted than any of the others, then I think that might nudge us down that road...

SQL Server Import Export Wizard fails while trying to retrieve the data from FastObjects Database

Does the issue persists after you use the "Write a query to specify the data to transfer" option instead of “Copy data from one or more tables or views” option? If so, the issue may occur due to incorrect data type matching between the FastObjects database
data types and SSIS data types. In this condition, I don’t think it is necessary to upgrade the SQL Server version. Since you can open the Column Mappings dialog box, please try to modify the data type mapping manually.
In addition, the issue seems to be the same as the issue described in the following blog:

I have used Captivate since its birth!
There have always been some issues with import/export.
I am now using version 5.0.1.625 and still suffer from import/export problems. Actually those problems drive me crazy!
I want this community to rise and demand some changes when it comes to big scale usability.
First demand,
One should be able to export captions from several captivate files at the same time, There should be a possibility to "batch export" a whole folder with subfolders of files.
Second demand,
Use common standards and let us choose among standards, in this case I am talking about the XML that is almost right.

Let us talk about the word "translation"... how come it exports the colour and style... we use both white and black captions which gives black and white text

We intend to implement SRM 7
We have requirement for implement Import/export process in the purchase order. The purpose is to the costs of transportation, shipments and taxes that include in the purchase process. We want to see this cost additionally to the product cost.
We know that there is a solution for this in the ECC MM u2013 Material management.
