Automating the upgrade of Acrobat

My company owns older versions of both Acrobat Pro and Acrobat Std.
We also run Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager and would like to automate the upgrades to Acrobat XI versions.
In the past, we have had to uninstall the old version before installing the new version.
Do the new installations allow for the removal of older versions as part of the installation?
Are there parameters that can be set on the .msi?

Hi MTDOCIT,
You can use the Adobe customization wizard to remove the older version.
You can download i from : ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/11.x/11.0.00/misc/CustWiz11000_en_US.exe
Please refer : http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Wizard/Customization%20Wizard%2011%20for %20Windows.pdf
For more information please check : http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/#
You can even remove it manually from SCCM.
The new installation would not remove the older version as part of the installation in the environment but it does remove the older version if you install it as a Standalone application.
No, there are no parameters known that can be set on the .msi

  • With the upgrade to Acrobat Pro 9.4.6 I can no longer create a pdf from a document.

I am using Window XP, Office 2007 Professional.  When the upgrade occurred, I lost the functionallity of creating a pdf from Publisher.  I go through the print, select Adobe PDF and then print.  Sometimes it looks like it is creating a pdf and then on results.  Othertimes it just blinks and returns to Publisher.  Adobe wil not let me un-install the last update.  Any suggestions?

  • Cant upgrade from Acrobat 9 Pro to Acrobat 9 Pro extended

    Hello everyone,
I purchased the upgrade from Acrobat 9 Pro to Acrobat 9 Pro Extended, but get an error when I try to install.  The error says "Setup has detected that you already have a more functional product installed.  Setup will now terminate.".  How is it that Acrobat pro is "more functional" then pro extended.  I bought the upgrade because I need the 3d capabilities of extended pro.  How do I work around this issue?

Oops.  I just read that I need to uninstall acrobat 9 first.  I now have a new issue.  Acrobat extended installed fine, but now it is doing an upgrade check.  It is asking for the serial number for the acrobat 9 pro.  My old version was part of the Creative suite 4.  When I enter the serial number from the creative suite it comes back as an invalid number.  Why is this?

  • Upgrading to Acrobat XI Pro on a new server

My company recently changed servers, and Acrobat 9 PRO was installed on the original virtual server. We couldn't find any install files (or downloads) for 9 PRO anywhere, so we purchased the upgrade to Acrobat XI PRO. We installed XI PRO on the new virtual server, but now we are seeing a popup that states "Serial number you provided is valid, but a qualifying product could not be found on this computer." I imagine that is because 9 PRO was never installed on this particular virtual server, and we probably need the full install for XI PRO. Please help.

The serial number that is being requested is that for AA 9, not AA XI. That validates your upgrade.
I assume you have dealt with Adobe for licenses for all the machines that will be using Acrobat on the server. There as special needs that need interaction with Adobe to run Acrobat on an intranet (I think they allow this under special licensing, not sure). If you are just installing the standard stand-alone Acrobat on the server and nothing more, you are violating the license agreement (not a pretty sight if that is the case).

  • Why so big files in the OCRs from Acrobat X?

I used Acrobat 8 by many years. Now, I thought maybe was the time to upgrade, and I'm testing Acrobat X. My main use to Acrobat is to scan my own books (photocopy + ADF scan + PDF) and do an OCR scan (usually: exact copy) The reason of this is that I manage maybe 4 or 5.000 books and articles and in my work (history and genealogy) is useful to search the content directly.
With Acrobat 8, this was done one by one, with certain accuracy.
With Acrobat X, I try OCR and I noted three big differences:
1st: The OCR is far better than in the v.8. In the same document where I found after OCR, ie: 50 occurrences, Acrobat X OCR give me now: 150 occurrences to the same word. Nice!!
2nd: Now, I can do batch OCR. This mean that I can let OCR running a 10 documents list the whole night, or the whole day when I go to office, working one after the other... Nice!!
I thought I touch the sky... At least I'would OCR all my library...! and all this books downloaded from archive.org and similar ones...
But all this is nothing compared to:
3rd: The resultant size of the OCRed files are impossible to manage. A book of 82MB gone to 538MB... As minimum, files doubles the size. With Acrobat 8, maybe gone 10 o 20% up, but not more than double as with the new Acrobat X. I have still 400GB to do OCR... I can't skyrocket this to 1 or 2 TBs...
I tried: search, exact search and clear scan (no differences) I tried 600, 300 and 75dpi. Even 75dpi was bigger. And illegible, despite at 75dpi at 100%, at least it must appear clear in the screen.
Im not sure if I must do the upgrade to Acrobat X. Someone can help me? Someone could recommend a specific, commercial software, to do OCR in PDFs, tha don't fat the resultant documents in this way? I can't believe that only text added, can do this.
    Thank you very much,
    Martin

This is a tough one. One thing to look at is the client side
buffers and server side buffers. A live stream usually drops data
to "catch up" to streamtime - buffers size allocated so Im not sure
how a song can be playing from 15 min ago...
Are the users that connect up rebuffering alot?
When troubleshooting try to find the least common
denominator; see if accessing the stream on the same network is an
issue. If it's successful, keep moving further away to determine
what point the bottleneck lies in your network.

  • Can you upgrade to acrobat 11 from cs3

I have acrobat 9 pro from CS 3.  I bought the upgrade to Acrobat 11.  When I put in the serial number from CS 3 Design Premium it does not work.  Can you upgrade to Acrobat 11 from cs3, and if not can you "return" the upgrade you bought?

    Hi,
No, its not a valid path to upgrade from CS3 to Acrobat 11. You need to contact Adobe Chat Support to return the Acrobat 11 you bought.

  • Installing Existing Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro on new computer - The "Upgrade Check"

I recently purchased a new computer (Windows 8) to replace my old computer (Windows XP).  I had purchased and installed Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 on the old computer in September 2009.  At that time I had the serial number of the previous edition of Adobe Acrobat to load into the Upgrade Check screen when installing Acrobat 9.  I just deactivated the Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 from the Windows XP machine and downloaded it to the Windows 8 machine and the install went well (still had the serial numbers for the Acrobat 9), until after the reboot when the "Upgrade Check" screen popped up.  I don't have the slightest clue what the serial number for the previous version of Acrobat was, I don't even recall what version of Acrobat I had.  How can I continue to install my Acrobat Pro 9?  I have been using it successfully for three plus years!
    Thanks.

If you no longer have the AA7 information, you will have to contact Adobe to determine the software key you had before to allow the installation. Hopefully you had registered your previous product or at least the installation.

Reason I had to chat with Customer Support is that I got the following message upon placing Upgrade Order.
What Different Country? It's the US. The ONLY placed I've lived my entire life! Apparently some software changes were made to the site and the PR Territory fell in a no-man's land.

  • What are the benefits from upgrading from Acrobat 9 Pro Extended to Acrobat11 Pro?

What are the benefits from upgrading from Acrobat 9 Pro Extended to Acrobat11 Pro?

Acrobat is a program used by a wide variety of users for a even wider number of purposes. So if we simply gave you a feature list, that wouldn't be very helpful.
Tell us how you use Acrobat, and what you do with it, and we can suggest improvements that were made in Acrobat X and XI Pro.

  • I just purchased Adobe Acrobat Standard DC andf upgraded from Acrobat XI. When I instalkled it on my PC the print Production Tools were there and functional. I installed it on my Laptop and those tolls are not there. What do I need to do to have Print Pro

I just purchased Adobe Acrobat Standard DC andf upgraded from Acrobat XI. When I instalkled it on my PC the print Production Tools were there and functional. I installed it on my Laptop and those tolls are not there. What do I need to do to have Print Production Tools on both computers?

This is quite odd. I wonder if you could try something for me on EACH computer.
Use Help > About Adobe Acrobat DC.
At the top of the box it should say Adobe Acrobat Pro DC or Adobe Acrobat Standard DC.
On each of the two machines, what does it say? (I think something odd has happened)

  • How do I upgrade from Acrobat 8 to the latest version of Acrobat

I was looking in the shop and it only gives the option to upgrade from 9 on.  We have 13 Acrobat 8 licenses that we would like to upgrade if possible.  Any suggestions?

    Hi cathyt873
Upgrade to Acrobat XI from Acrobat 8 is not possible. You need to purchase the full version.

  • Could Automator help photo org problems after the upgrade to iPhoto 6?...

Yes, I'm another person that has had the organization of thousands of photos screwed up after paying for and installing the upgrade.
After reading the numerous threads on this same topic i haven't seen an answer yet...Same as the others, after updating to iPhoto6 my simple, by date, file org is shattered.
    - Of the many proposed fixes, renaming rolls by date is not practical since many of us have photos on a single "roll" (download event) that span many different days. Breaking these original rolls up by date is impractical with thousands of photos.
    - Using the calendar view to navigate the photo library doesn't work because most of the photo dates aren't accurate or are simply missing from this view.
Could the Tiger Automator be creatively used to help re-organize these photos?
Can anyone confirm that Apple has acknowledged this problem and is working on a patch/fix for this obviously large scale problem? My pc advocate friends think this is hilarious after i've been bragging about my trouble free macs for the last 20 years.....
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Go back to 7.6.1 at least.. do not use 7.6.3 firmware.. as it has wireless issues.
You go back by selecting firmware update with option key held down.

  • Just upgraded to Acrobat XI, but XI is not option to register the serial number

I have the serial number, I downloaded and installed Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, but when i attempt to enter the Serial Number it does not list Pro XI as an option?

Okay – starts to make more sense. I am not just upgrading, but also switching to a new computer. So now I probably need to deactivate on the old machine and then reinstall Pro X on the new machine and then finally do the upgrade.
    Thanks
