Automation of TDMS Migration Server Overview
Hello all.
I am new to TDMS. I found all background programs which get executed through TDMS Migration Server Overview transaction (CNV_MBT_TDMS). Does anyone know if there is any standard BAPI's given by SAP to execute those for automation purpose? If not then what is best way to execute those programs (in background)? I believe recording BDC only seems to be an option, please let me know if you have different view?
Thanks in advance,
Abhijeet

There are no BAPIs provided by SAP .

TDMS is a standard product for which you need a license to execute these programs.
These programs should not be executed using BDC.

How should I add an automated procedure to my server
Hi,
I have Mac OS X Server 10.3.9 running on a eMac.
I wondered how could I add and automated procedure to my server, I explain.
I have a dyn IP provider (no-ip.com) who accepts IP updates via http GET request with a URL like this : http://dynupdate.no-ip.com/dns?username=[email protected]&
password=mytestpassword&hostname=mytest.testdomain.com
Is there a way to get this line executed every 5 minutes with the server ?
Sorry for my bad english but regards to those who are able to answer
eMac Mac OS X (10.3.9) ServerI succeded with the curl method
applaus ;o)
Now I'm working with crontab and I try to understand it
The system crontab is /etc/crontab. Edit it with the command line editor of your choice. If you happen to do not know one, the simpelst one imo is pico.
Try it out with pico testfile.
For the crontab syntax see my first post. You have to add a line like:
0 0 * * * philippe curl "http://..../"
This would start curl once a day at midnight.
Thanks for the help very useful
Points, points, points.... ;o)

Migrating server hardware replacement oes11 to oes11sp2
This summer I will be replacing server hardware at one of my schools. Currently it has sles11sp1 / oes11 -- put in in 2012. The patches are up to date for this version, but I have not upgraded/migrated it to a newer version yet. I have played in a test environment with the yast2 wagon migration from sles11sp1/oes11 to sles11sp2/oes11sp1 -- no problems. However trying to find notes on how to do a migration and identity transfer from source server hardware to new target server hardware. Found oes11sp2 migration tool administration guide. I haven't found anything telling me how to setup sles on the target server box ie server name etc. Once I have the target sles server setup, I realize I need to install OES and select the "Novell pre-migration server" option during this installation.
Current source server = sles11sp1/oes11 and has iPrint, Nss and netstorage installed. Installed in tree with oes11 and oes11sp1 servers.
The main tree server has sles11sp2/oes11sp1 on it. We will need to upgrade it to sles11sp3/oes11sp2 this summer. I'm fine with doing the yast2 wagon migration on that server. We just haven't done server hardware replacements for OES-L yet.
Looking for some good (step by step) instructions. ;-)
Thanks

Thanks Thomas. Just printed the document now. If my current sles11sp1/oes11 server is called testfs for instance, then I need to install the new target server as a sles11sp3 server called tempfs. Then install oes11sp2 into the tree in a temporary location in the tree as a premigration server (for the installation). Then I should be able to follow the instructions. When I do the identity transfer, I'm assuming it renames the sles11sp3 server from tempfs to testfs as well (as that is where oes gets the file server name from)?
Um, sorta. Let's pretend your server name is: OLD and the new one is NEW (temporary NEW name and temporary NEW IP)
OLD: OES11
NEW: OES11 SP2 (assuming you want latest stuff).
Do all your data transfer/consolidations/etc
Then when you do the ID transfer, it will literally transfer the eDir databases (well copy is more correct) from OLD to NEW, you shut off OLD, I think it restarts NEW and renames/changes the servername and IP to what OLD had.
You can choose to install the NEW server with the .ISO separately (ie: Install SLES11 SP3, then after you're done, Add On the OES11 SP2 .ISO), or you may choose to use the integrated DVD and do it all at once, or use the 2 separate ISO and do them at once (but depending upon your installation method, you may not be able to do the 2 separate ISO).
I hope that helps.
I'm about halfway through editing my docs for OES11 SP1 (of course, SP2 is out now) for migrations from OES2 SP3, but the same setup steps basically apply. I think the only things that changed from NW To OES (ie: OES2 to OES11) are DHCP and iPrint migration procedures.

Automated backups of OSX Server 10.5 with Time Capsule (TC)
I am running OSX 10.5 Server on a G5. The server is working well. I have the server plugged into a TC. I would like to do automated backups from the server to the TC.
I can read and write to the TC disk fine from the server.
When I try to configure Time Machine to do automated backups of the server to the TC it does not work. I set the preferences in TM. It seems to accept them. But the configuration never gets saved, and so TM always complains "Time Machine Error - No backup volume has been selected. To select a backup volume, open System Preferences and choose Time Machine."
This is of course is what I have just done, but the changes are not getting saved.
Any ideas?
Thanks

I only have 16gb of my 120gb? hard drive left to use. Will the Time Capsule "mirror" my hard drive or can I "move" some of my large files (iTunes and iPhoto) over to the TC to free up space on my G4's hard drive?
If you use Time Capsule with Time Machine, almost all of your computer's disk drive contents (except what you exclude) will be backed up to the Time Capsule disk. If you don't use Time Machine, you can put whatever you want to on the Time Capsule disk.
You can also attach an external USB drive to your Time Capsule and move anything you want to that.
I also have an Apple TV. Will this be a problem being connected too?
No.
I am a little confused as to how to do this. My G4 is getting pretty sluggish, and I want to clean it up some. What program can use to help get rid of the old programs I have that are not using and trash them? Do I just drag them to the trash?
For the most part, dragging programs to the trash will eliminate all but "preference" files. To locate those, look in <yourhomefolder>/Library/Preferences. -
Migrate Server 2008 Certificate Authority To New Server Different Host Name?
Our internal CA is installed on one of our Exchange servers. Exchange is being migrated from 2010 to 2013, so all current Exchange servers will decommissioned and replaced with new new Hyper-V VMs with either Server 2008 R2 or 2012 R2 OS. The old VM
containing Exchange 2010 and the current CA will go away since we cannot afford to use the server resources and use up the required Windows license to keep that server running doing nothing but acting as a CA.
So, we will either need to move the CA to the new replacement Exchange 2013 server or some other existing server that's being used for something else (maybe one of the domain controllers).
What is the best way to handle this? I don't think the migration from Exchange 2010 to 2013 allows for reusing the same host name on the replacement server and if we move the CA to another existing server, it will also be on a server with a new host
name anyways.
Can we migrate the CA to a new server with a different host name?
What about reissuing all the active certificates from the current server to replace them with new certificates from the new server and then decommissioning the original CA? Can this be automated in some way?
Which way is best and how would it be done? When following the instructions in the guide, I would also consider to switch to new "sanitized" URLs in certificates (CDP and AIA) in case you had used the default URLs now. That's what I did this when migrating W2K3 CAs (with default URLs) to W2K8 R2.
Per default, the LDAP and HTTP URLs point to the CA server itself (HTTP) or to an LDAP objects that has the same name as the current server.
Migrating to a new server, you need to make sure that CRLs will still be published to the old locations - thus the new CA server would write to the LDAP object that corresponded to the old server, and HTTP might be fixed by redirecting the DNS record. (Make
sure this is documented so that nobody thinks it might be a good idea to delete the old object as it "references a server that does not exist anymore".)
As you have to fiddle with URLs anyway, I would then add new URLs having neutral names - that is URLs not including the name of the CA server. The new CA instance would then 1) publish to the old locations but not add these to certificates anymore and 2)
publish to new sanitized locations and add them to CDP and AIA URLs.

SCCM 2012 migrate server A to Server B.
Right now I have BACKOFFICE running Windows 2008 R2 server which has SCCM 2012 SP1 installed and is in production. I did a newly installed of another primary stand alone SCCM 2012 SP1 on SCCMSERVER running Windows 2012 R2. My question are
1. What is the best way to migrate all of BACKOFFICE ConfigMgr 2012 database or roles into the new SCCMSERVER. What tools or steps can I use to do this?
2. When can I safely uninstall ConfigMgr 2012 off BACKOFFICE ?
Thanks for your help,
VoevThe steps are the same. You set up a source hierarchy and then create migration jobs.

TDMS Migration from ECC 5.0 to 6.05
Does TDMS version 4.0 supports data migration between ECC 5.0 and ECC 6.0 EhP5? With the upcoming release of LVM into ramp-up, would this be a better alternative?
Hi,
No, TDMS does not support data transfer between system of different release.
How LVM will help you in doing data transfer between different releases ? As per my understanding LVM is totally different tool than TDMS.
Thanks

Migrating Server 2003 to Server 2008 R2
I am in migration hell... the network is a simple one, it has one domain controller running a Windows Server 2003 domain in Windows 2000 Native mode. No other servers but a NAS box are on the network, the rest are workstations. I am migrating it to
a Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 bit server, I used adpre32 to perform the steps on the old server.
Before performing the migration I ran netdiag and dcdiag and came up clean. I ran the adprep steps and everything ran great. I got to the part where I was going to transfer the roles and ntdsutil gives a "connect to server WIN2008SERVERNAME, that's
when I get the binding error "ntdsutil dsbind error 0x5 access is denied".
When I also try to go in via Active Directory Users and Computers (on the original domain controller) and then try to connect to a Domain Controller, I see the new DC but when I go to select it I get "The following domain controller could not be
contacted : WIN2008SERVERNAME.DOMAINNAME.COM Access is denied.
I have run repadmin /showrepl on the original box and it came back as successful. I ran DCDIAG and came up fine. I ran nltest /sc_query:DOMAINNAME.COM which came back as I_NetLogonControl failed: Status = 1355 0x54b ERROR_NO_SUCH_DOMAIN.
Network browsing works fine, all computers logon fine and nslookup runs on both the old server and new one showing the old server as it should until the FSMO roles get transferred.
All of this works fine form the new server, DNS looks good and dcdiag DNS testing came up fine. I'm basically banging my head against a wall at this point. Here are the NETDIAG results from the source domain controller, notice towards the end where it states that LDAP passed but had fatal errors. This is whats blocking the roles from being transferred. I admit I am lacking the knowledge to repair this
so I appreciate the help.

How to install Oracle Policy Automation in Oracle Application Server?
We are planning to use OPA with Oracle Ebusiness Suite Release 12.1. We are running Oracle Application Server 11g. We want to deploy the Oracle Policy Automation components in same application server as Oracle Ebusiness Suite.
(a) How to install Oracle Determinations Engine, Oracle Web Determinations and Oracle Determinations Server on Oracle Application Server? The installation document for OPA doesnt have steps for Oracle Application Server.
(b) Which one is better, to deploy OPA in separate server or in same server as Oracle Ebusiness Suite?
(c) How to decide whether to use Java API's using Determination Engine or web services using Determination Server or UI of Web Determinations for our project? Or what factors should we consider?
Thanks for the help.
-- Sreeram.H(a) You should install the war files for Oracle Determination Server and Oracle Web Determinations as per normal war deployment - there's no special steps required, which is why it is not listed explicitly. There's no reason to deploy Oracle Determinations Engine itself to a web application server.
(b) "Better" tends to be more a subjective viewpoint, but if you already deploy all your web services on the same server as Oracle E-Business Suite then you should go the same for OPA. Same story for separate server deployment.
(c) Can't answer that without knowing why you are using OPA! If you are looking to integrate with Oracle E-Business Suite then Oracle Determinations Server would be the sensible choice. Web Determinations is most useful if you want a sensible way to collect or review the relevant assessment data for determinations, as well as for "self service" scenarios. Determinations Engine should be used if you have a completely bespoke integration scenario that can't make use of web services or web applications - but I can't think of a scenario where this would make sense if you are using Oracle E-Business Suite.
Of course, these are just my views - others may feel more strongly one way or the other! -
Error Starting Migrated Server
All,
I have migrated a Sun 6.1 web server to Sun 7, update 2. When I attempt to start the webserver after a successful migration and deployment, I get the following error:
"14/Apr/2008:10:53:39] failure (12362): HTTP4395: Failed to set the max open descriptor in file cache"
I have been unable to track down this error code via online resources. Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks,
D.The next release will probably be out in summer of 2008. You can disable file-cache and specify this (dummy) element. For example your server.xml would like as follows:
<file-cache>
<enabled>false</enabled>
<max-open-files>1024</max-open-files>
</file-cache> -

"I can't add any backup domain controller..." means I am not able to join the new ADDC to newly promoted server. But I can join the new
ADDC to old DC of which the FSMO roles are transferred to new DC .
I also found that File replication service is disabled while starting it getting the below Error:
"Error 1053: Ther service did not respond to start or control request in timely fashion"

SBS2011 Exchange Migration (Server configuration change is temporarily preventing access)
Greetings,
I 've begun an exchange migration from SBS2011 (Exch 2010) to 2013 Exchange. I am on this step of the deployment assistant, for reference, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/exdeploy2013/Checklist?state=2419-W-EQBEAgAAQAAAAQEAAQAAAAg~
I can login and access any users mailbox with the respective credentials if their mailbox is on the SBS exchange server.
Ive migrated a couple test users, and while I can access their owa box if I browse to the localhost of the 2013 server, I cannot access their mailbox internally nor externally if I go to the external FQDN of the owa site. All other users with mailboxes
still on the 2010 exchange work.
I get this message for those with mailboxes on the new server: A server configuration change is temporarily preventing access to your account. Please close all Web browser windows and try again in a few minutes. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk.
Any ideas?
Thanks!Hi,
On current situation, please check if you move mailboxes to the new Database properly. Please refer to Olaf’s
solution in following thread and check if can help you.
OWA
not working after SBS2008 to SBS 2011 Migration
If any update, please feel free to let me know.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Justin Gu

Bluetooth MAP profile in Lollipop ?
Can someone advise if Bluetooth MAP profile is supported in Lollipop ? It was removed from earlier Android versions which is a pity since my vehicle communications system (Uconnect) requires this for displaying SMS's.
