Is there a way to execute an AppleScript or JavaScript or some Photoshop command from within a plug-in?

Any script palette plug ins for illustrator?

Does anyone know of a plugin that can be set up to launch scripts? I've got many I use often and I'd like a floating palette I can just keep open to launch them from rather than having to setup actions everytime I launch illustrator.

I would not know, that stuff is out of my league… Im a hobbyist scripter not any kind of developer… Don't have the mindset or the time to get that involved… If I needed some thing like that then I just know where I would go…

I have a couple of queries on plug-ins. Basically they are the same query
a) Will 32 bits plug –ins like Magic Bullet, Twixtor, Trapcodes, Boris etc work proplerly with 64 bits Adobe AE CS5 ?
b) Inversely, will 64 bits versions of plug –ins like Magic Bullet, Twixtor, Trapcodes, Boris etc work proplerly with 32 bits Adobe AE CS4 ?
Both the above on 64 bits computers.

Enterprise Manager Plug-ins vs. Connectors

Hi,
I'm trying to get more information on Enterprise Manager Connectors - what they are and how they differ from plug-ins. The Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Extensions Exchange home page makes several references to 'Connectors' but I can't find any reference to them in the extension guide or anywhere else. Is there any documentation on this?

SOAP Calls in OBIEE Plug Ins

Hi ,
there are 3 methods by which a user would access OBIEE:
1) Via a browser using http for Analytics/BI Publisher web clients
2) Via a Word plug-in using Soap
3) Via an Excel plug-in using Soap
We would like to know the nature of traffic in case of Word Plug In and Excel Plug In i.e., whether the data is transferred in the form of binary data or xml format or in a plain text format from plug ins to BI Office Server.
Please help.

On dynamic C++ memory management in Adobe Photoshop plug-in
As there are some people interested in the question I'll try to explain a technique I use at present.
I have two memory allocators:
a) based on Adobe's Basic Suite for small blocks (under 2Kbytes)
b) based on Adobe's Handle Suite for large blocks (above 2Kbytes)
operator new and operator new[] allocate 4 additional bytes for every allocation, store in the first 4 bytes handle to memory allocator used for this new or new[] call, and return pointer after this handle.
operator delete and operator delete[] takes memory allocator handle from the pre-pointer 4 bytes, and dellocate memory using correct memory allocator.
This strategy works well.

Automated Publishing: Easy Catalog vs Smart Catalog vs InData Plug-ins

I'm working on automating the workflow on a regularly produced newspaper advertising insert that includes hundreds of products. We will be creating a UI that pulls data from my clients substantial retail product database. Each product also includes at least one image..
I'm wondering if anyone has evaluated the various plug-ins available and done a product comparison. The plug-ins I'm considering at the moment are Easy Catalog, Smart Catalog and InData.
I like Easy Catalog's ability to reverse update the database from changes made within InDesign, and they have better demos than Smart Catalog. However without direct experience using and comparing the three plug-ins, it's hard to determine which is the best product.They have free demos available, but that requires a substantial time commitment in learning and experimenting with all three.
Does anyone know if any side-by-side product comparisons that have been done?

I too would like to know from those who have had a hands on what software is prefered and the qurks of each.
This is an expensive endevor and I do not want to throw away my money.
Right now I am leaning towards Smart Catalog for no other reason that would like to also have Smart Styles—keep them in the same family.
I hope someone will post soon for I am ready to buy.

Plug-Ins Automation

Hey All,i had a quick question about the Plug-ins on Logic Express7..Can the Plug-Ins be automated and if so,how?

I'm speaking from Logic Audio 6, but I think the functionality is the same. Automating plug-ins is just like automating track functions like volume/pan.
If you're not already viewing track automation, turn it on (in the Arrange window, choose View > Track Automation in the Arrange submenu).
Under the track name and mute/record/freeze buttons, you should see a grey bar. Click and hold the bar, and you'll get a menu of all the available parameters that can be automated (volume, pan, etc). Any plug-ins on the track will also be items in this menu, and their parameters are a submenu of it.
Select the plug-in parameter you want to automate. Its value will be shown as a dotted line extending through the regions. Click on the line to create nodes which you can then move to change the value of the parameter. Once you create a node, the line becomes solid.
You can select single nodes or groups of nodes to move, vertically or horizontally or both. Clicking and holding between two nodes will select the line segment between them. And apparently with LE7, you can now also draw curves.
You can also automate on the fly in the Track Mixer. Click and hold the box above the pan pot that says "off," which opens a menu for Read, Touch, Latch, Write, and MIDI. Select Touch.
Open the plug-in's window. Play the song and adjust the parameter(s) as you want. Your moves are recorded. If you go to the Arrange window and view the automation as outlined above, you'll see your moves and can then edit them there if you want.

I want to open an excel file from a folder in the Microsoft live office on Hotmail. Their instruction is to go to tools in Firefox, go to plug-ins and then install Microsofts Office 2010. Can't find plug-h. Help?

I have uploaded an excel file from my desk top to the Windows Live (HOTMAIL?) office suite. When I try to open the file I get an error that says my system is not supported. My system passes all of the listed criteria except for one. That is a plug in from Firefox. The instructions say to go to the Firefox menu, click on tools then plug-ins. Of course when I go to tools plug-ins is not immediately available, but when I do go to plug-ins, I am to click on Microsoft Office 2010. This plug in is supposed to allow earlier versions of office documents to be viewed as well as Office 2010. The plug-in is not available. When I search the Firefox website I am not able to find such a plug-in.
I am using Microsoft XP, Office 2007 and the version of Firefox prior to V4. V4 does not support all of my e-mail clients so am not able to use V4.

My Adobe CS 4 ran perfectly find up until I updated my MAC OS from Mavericks to the new YOSIMITE. When I launch illustrator CS4 I get a window message the reads "some plug-ins in the additional Plug-ins folder are conflicting with application or user plug-ins. It will skip loading plug-ins from additional plug-ins folder." there is a OK button that I must click on to close the message window and then illustrator will continue loading process, then a second window will appear reading "Error loading plug-ins. PhotoshopImport.aip" there is a OK button that I must click on to close the message window and then illustrator will continue loading and launch.
The problem is when I open a current file that has a psd link I will get a window message reading "could not find a plug-in to read the link file _______ choose repair to locate the missing file, replace to select another file, or ignore to leave the link unchange." When selecting a psd link /file it is greyed out which I cannot select it. I can not select, choose, import or open any files/links that is a psd.
Would someone please help me resolve this issue please!!!

I have been using aurora and updated to 12.0a2 and my computer continually freezes even after disabling all plug-ins and i have even dumped stuff from the memory on my hard drive.

i continually get the same 12.0a2 update box that pops up in the bottom right corner even though i have the updated version and i have to wait for the aurora updater to do something everytime i start a new session. i went through and disabled all plug-ins and have no extensions active and this doesn't solve the problem. according to plug-in check all plug-ins are up to date. aurora does crash every once in a while where it closes out all my windows...but i do not get the crash report anymore to report it. is there a problem with aurora? i even updated FF in case that had a factor in the crashes/freezes!! FF used to do this same thing all the timea fter a new update but this is ridiculous!! WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? typos courtesy of freezing!!!is there a problem with aurora? i can't go more than 2 minutes without constant freezing and the "not responding" message. i have run scans on my computer weekly since i updated to aurora and there is no threats/problems...why does this keep happening?
addendum...i have added the crash reports for the last week...does that give any insight into why this keeps happening?

"not for public use"? i did not seek out another version of FF it was an option on mozilla's page when i needed to update FF!! i know that i will run into these problems if i do not keep current and it was an option so i chose it. are you suggesting that i dump aurora from my system and go back to using just FF? i'm not a developer or know anything deep regarding the physical or logical of systems...i am just trying to keep good maintenance on my system!! i need a browser that works with me and not against me...chrome does not do what i need...neither does opera...FF is the only browser that i have used for almost 4 years now and i don't plan on going back to IE or changing to those mentioned above...i just want to know that when i see new offerings on mozilla products and i accept them into my system that they work much better than what i am experiencing currently!! i get that it is open-sourced and therefore a work in progress

When attempting to remove the Filmconvert plugin from my machine I noticed my adobe\common\plug-ins\CS5.5\MediaCore folder had Vanished !

When attempting to remove the Filmconvert plugin from my machine I noticed my adobe>common>plug-ins>CS5.5>MediaCore folder had vanished ! and there was also no folder for my cc version at all ? so digging deeper i noticed a large amount of my after effects plugins were installed separately in my applications folder ! I m very confused as to how this has happened and was wondering if anything like this had happened to any1 else ? and how to get everything back to normal ?
Im now worried theres something wrong with my bios on my Mac and i don't no why my plug-ins would have vanished from where they should be installed? as they still work fine in the actual software itself.

If you are on a Mac the Library folder is hidden. You have to jump through some hoops to get there.

The install of 2014 doesn't move or copy anything from a previous version, with the exception of settings. You can go into your Photoshop CC installation folder, navigate to your plugins folder and then just copy all the plugins you've installed from that folder and into the Photoshop CC 2014 plugins folder. The plugins should then be available in 2014 the next time you launch Photoshop.
The only thing that may prevent this from working is if you're using the 32bit version of Photoshop CC. Photoshop CC 2014 is 64bit only so 32bit plugins don't work. If this is the case for you, check out the manufacturer of the plugins and see if they have 64bit versions available.
