Automation Server (on Solaris) polling interval too low

Portal 5.0j on Solaris; Automation Server is on separate Solaris server with plenty of memory, storage, etc.
Our Automation Server is "waking up" every five seconds and checking for jobs to run. We previously had it do this every minute. Where do we change this? I can't find it in the GUI or in any XML config file.

I checked the error and accesslogfile.
Nothing there only a gap in time !!!!
You only see something in the error logfile during the startup again :
[09/Apr/2003:13:00:21 +0200] - iPlanet-Directory/5.1 Service Pack 1 20020606 B2002.161.2234 starting up

  • [9520] Server Memory is too low

Getting an error on our login page every once in awhile where it says [9520] Server memory is too low. New login requests are not allowed. Please contact your system Administrator. We added more ram to the VM running the server. I couldn't see anything about recommended ram settings unless I am missing something. We have GWIA, MTA and Webmail all running on the same box with 6GB of ram. Anybody have any recommendations?
    Thanks,

Section 4.1 Hardware and Operating System Requirements in the GW2014
    Install Guide[1] includes
    --begin--
Adequate server memory as required by the operating system
Depending on the anticipated load on the GroupWise agents, additional
memory might be required. For details, see Section 4.6, Sample Agent
    Memory Requirements[2].
    ---end---
Section 4.6 lists 4GB under recommended memory for best performance of
GWIA and its MTA with 4GB for WebAccess application. Given those two
added together equal 8GB and you're running on virtual machine I'd
suggest that you might want to increase the amount of memory available
    to the VM.
Which OS is the server running and which virtualisation platform are you
    hosting the VM on?
    HTH.

  • XI file adapter polling faster than poll interval

    Hi,
We are facing a issue with the file adapter/authorization of the FTPUSER.
We FTP a server and pick up a file from a particular folder.
My polling interval is 2 minutes
    My retry interval is space.
    Processing mode : ARCHIVE
We are archiving it on a Network attached server(NAS) mounted on our XI server.
When XI polls for the first time it picks up the file but the sender file adapter shows following error in RWB.
<b>2006-01-20 11:31:08 GMT: Error: Deleting of file 'ARUCSjnewb80.txt' failed - cannot proceed: FTPEx: ARUCSjnewb80.txt: Access is denied.</b>
The picked up file gets processed but at the same time just within 12-13 seconds of the first poll XI picks up the file second time and then in another 3 seconds for the third time.
After this the file gets archived thrice in the archive directory and then gets deleted from the source directory.
We are unable to understand why XI is polling  again  after few seconds of the first poll.(As per my understanding it should have polled after 2 minutes).
I am able to delete the file manually from the Ftp server.
Could anyone give a pointer towards what we are missing or what probable reasons could be?
authorization issue?( XIADM /ftpuser have full authorization)
    Some adapter setting?

    Hi,
Could you let me know how frequent the file gets loaded to the FTP server.
Is your file size too large to get loaded.. If so try to increase the polling interval. Also make sure that you have provided the polling time in sec and not in minutes...i.e for 2 minutes it should have been specified as 120 sec as polling interval

  • Understanding icmp polling interval in NMS

    Hi all,
I am basing my question on the logic that a device can be polled successfully at 09:54:00, go off-line at 09:54:32 and return on-line again at 09:54:98 in time for the next NMS poll and this would show no down time at all.
What I am seeing is the opposite, in that I think the device is being polled and is failing to respond, then it is coming back on-line x seconds later and is then being successfully polled and the NMS is reporting a down time of 49 seconds (the difference between when it physically came back on-line and when it was next polled). Does the SNMP Agent have some internal mechanism to retain the up/down time duration so that it can be reported back to the NMS when it is back on-line and successfully being polled, or is the value of 49 seconds down-time duration being generated by the NMS system as to how long ago it was since it was successfully able to poll the device. If it is the latter why would this be 49 seconds if the attempts to poll interval is every 60 seconds?
    Problem Specifics
My network monitoring is set up to poll every 60 seconds and has an icmp threshold set of 2 seconds.
As I understand it, this means that every 60 seconds a device will be sent a ping and it has up to 2 seconds with which to respond otherwise it is classed as down.
Looking at the reports I can see that a router did not respond and shows a down duration of 49 seconds, before reporting up time of 1 minute in the next entry. What I am trying to work out is how it got to this 49 second duration value?
If the NMS was set to ping the device every 60 seconds and the first ping occurred at 09:54:00 and succeeded, the next poll would be at 09:55:00. Lets say that the 09:55:00 icmp poll was unsuccessful. This is then reported back to the NMS as down. It would then try and poll again at 09:56 to see if the device is back on-line and in my case it was, only the total downtime shows as 49 seconds
Should this not always be 1 minute or multiples thereof?
Could it be that the NMS system once detecting that a device is down, will then step up it’s polling to that down device with repeat polls for a specified period until it gives up and reverts back to it’s regular schedule. I.e. it pings every second and on the 49th second it got a response?
    Thanks in advance
    David

  • Role assignment and FDI polling interval for participant info

    Hi,
When a role is added to a participant in Portal Admin console how long it takes to take effect meaning how soon he can login and use the role. Inother words what is the FDI polling interval time to get participant info? I am getting "fuego.portal.exception.WapiOperationException: Participant 'XYZ' does not have execution permissions for role 'ABC' though the Execute permission was given to the user.
Will this role assignment applies for In Flight instances too?
    Regards,
    Xavier

After you have assigned a particpant to a role and if you are sure you have given execute permission to the partcipant and still if the change doesnt reflect in your application, just try restarting engine. Even if the problem persists then try restarting the weblogic server. The role assignment applies to inflight instances also. for eg : if there are two instances that belong to the role say'ABC' and you have mapped 'XYZ' for that role, then you can see the instances of that role in 'XYZ''s inbox.
    Hope this helps.

  • LabVIEW Run Time Engine and ActiveX Automation Server

    Hi,
I have a question related to LabVIEW Run Time Engine and ActiveX Automation Server:
We have a tool developed in LabVIEW and TestStand. End user interface is a LabVIEW GUI (it's an executable) which executes TestStand sequences. Some TestStand sequences call lower level LabVIEW VIs.
Everything works fine with LabVIEW installed, but I was wondering if I could run this tool on deployment machine with only LabVIEW run time engine installed. We are using LabVIEW 6.1 and with only the run time engine installed, I get the error message: "Unable to launch the 'LabVIEW.Application' ActiveX automation server ".
BTW, we are planning to upgrade the versions soon.
Is it possible to make things work only with the run time engine?
    Thank you.

    Thanks for the response, Brian.
I did upgrade to LabVIEW 8.0 and TestStand 3.5. Everything works fine on the development computer where LabVIEW and TestStand is installed. On the target computer in the lab, I installed LV RTE 8.0 and TestStand 3.5, and now when a VI is called in a sequence file, I get the following:
    RunState.PreviousStep.Result.Error.Code  -18002
RunState.PreviousStep.Result.Error.Msg  "LabVIEW: The VI is not executable"
So, the executable opens and works fine (which means that the LV RTE is installed properly), but when a sequence calls a low level VI, it does not make it through.
    comments/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

  • Sendmail in Solaris 10 - 554 Too many connections from origin

I recently upgraded a server from Solaris 9 to Solaris 10. One of the apps that worked fine on S9 is now having a problem. I believe I have discovered the cause, but I'm not having any luck coming up with a solution.
The app in question queries a database for a list of e-mail addresses (all within our own domain) and then sends e-mail to each user. The messages are sent to our Barracuda firewall/spam filtering appliance, and it relays the messages on to our Exchange server.
The problem that arose after the upgrade is that sendmail is opening too many concurrent connections to the Barracuda, and the 'Cuda is replying with "554 Too many connections from origin".
I see that there is a sendmail configuration parameter "SingleThreadDelivery" that will only allow one connection to the Barracuda at a time. That appears to be overly restrictive, though.
My question is this: is there a way to tell sendmail to only allow some number of concurrent connections to the 'Cuda so as not to hit this limit?
    Thanks,
    Bill

    Glen,
    Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I did look at those, but my understanding was that those parameters effect inbound connection and in our case, the problem is that we want to limit the number of outbound connections.
As it turns out, the S10 upgrade was not the cause of this problem. At the same time that we upgraded we also added a second network interface (and IP address). Unknown to either myself or the current Barracuda admin, the old IP had been configured into the 'Cuda so that rate limits did not apply. The fix was to add the second IP, too (well actually, he decided to open it up to all of our servers' internal IPs).

  • Poll interval for sender file adapter.

I have a 1_sender file NFS file adapter which picks a trigger file from X location in PI application server, this trigger file initiates the unix script present in the sender file adapter.
Unix script brings all the file which starts with 25588* from bank FTP and places in Y location in PI application server then script deletes the "trigger file".
another NFS File adapter  1_receiver file adapter places the trigger file in the X location of PI.
for 1_sender file poll interval given as 86400, that means it should trigger only once a day @ 1:30pm.
But today same sender file adapter had triggered 4 times, could any one let me know the reason why it had triggered 4 times instead of single time.

    Vidya,
    There are two things :-
    1. The polling interval should be 24 hrs;
    2. The polling interval should be 24 hrs and it should poll at 1:30 pm every day.
For any reason if the channel is re-started, then with your present configuration, you will never be able to achieve # 2.
    So, better use ATP.
But today same sender file adapter had triggered 4 times, could any one let me know the reason why it had triggered 4 times instead of single time.
Might be the connection dropped / failed at the time of polling and the channel re-tried. If you give more details (what time and with how much interval it triggered), someone might be able to help.

  • JDBC sender adapter polling data more than once within one polling interval

    Hi,
Our sender communciation channel is polling data twice in one polling interval, hence triggering the corresponding BPM twice.
The polling interval for the channel is set to 30 mins.
We dont have an update query and use <test> instead. Currently there is no provision to use an update query in the source system.
Intermitently the polling happens within an interval of few milliseconds, because of which we are in doubt whether the use of Update query will solve our problem
Additionaly in the BPM, we have one channel which deletes the data from source system after the processing is complete by the BPM, but the second BPM is getting triggered before the deletion step is being executed in the first BPM.
Please Advise how we can stop the channel from polling data twice.
    Thanks,
    Merrilly.

    Hi Merrilly,
Please ty to set an advanced mode option in the table(for sender
    channel configurations) as follows:
Key name is "clusterSyncMode" and its values are either "scheduler" or
"none".(both are without quotes and case-sensitive)
Default value is "scheduler", this means it prevents 2
messages being generated regardless of 2 server nodes. This is true,
even if you do not add anything in advanced options table.
Also are more information about this parameter of file adapter, what
    is the same for jdbc:

  • Too low initial heap size

    Hi,
Any idea why following line is giving too low initial heap size error in server startup.
    $JAVA_HOME/bin/java $JAVA_VM -XX:NewSize=256m -XX:MaxNewSize=256m -XX:SurvivorRatio=6 -Xms2048m -Xmx2048m -Xrs -verbose:gc
This error is coming when I am adding -XX:NewSize=256m -XX:MaxNewSize=256m parameters.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Chintan.

Just a thought: maybe you should use both,
    initial-heap-size="128m" max-heap-size="256m"
I think the Client JVM defaults to max 64m, so setting the initial heap to 128m would set initial bigger than max, which leads to an error.
    hope that helps...

  • OLE Automation Server

    Hi all.
I've been asked to help in a project where the main portion of it is
being written using labview (G), which I'm not familiar with.
I've had a quick browse through the various labview manuals, and really
don't want to go off at a tangent from what I need to do, meaning that I
don't have time to become proficient with labview - the current
"developer" does not describe himself as a "programmer", which is why he
    chose labview.
Anyway, the job requires me to interface a Thompson Frame Grabber card
(FGT) with labview. Thompson supply an SDK and the source for a
Microsoft Visual Studio sample program. Unfortunately, no source for the
    SDK DLL/driver.
Reading their French-glish manuals, the way they expect you to control
the FGT card is via a supplied DLL. They do supply some guidance on how
to do this, but the problem I have is that the DLL requires various low
level capabilities to allow things like an overlay window, callbacks,
etc. Given that such info seems to be rather difficult (tedious) to
extract or have labview perform, I've decided I should write (using
Delphi or C++) another component to talk directly to their DLL, and have
labview control the new component that I write.
Looking through the various manuals, I see that labview supports
ActiveX, but I'm unsure wether that is restricted to just ActiveX
controls specifically, or wether labview can interface with an
Automation Server (OLE and ActiveX are built upon COM) ?
If so, how does one "import" the Automation server's interface into the
labview environment/IDE, so my "non-programmer" client to easily
interface with an Automation Server ?
The reason that I want to go with a standalone, out-of-process (OOP...?)
Automation Server, as opposed to an in-process server, or an ActiveX
control, is that (naive) attempts thus far with interfacing labview with
the FGT DLL has lead to serious side effects, such as crashing the
system. However, trivial trials using Borland C++ Builder to interface
with the FGT DLL produced none of those stability problems.
Another reason is that if I make an ActiveX control, the possibility of
multiple use rears it's head, which the DLL and overlay functions do not
support, nor make sense for it to.
I will shortly install a temporary copy labview (5.1 ?) on my Dual boot
Win98/Win NT4 system here, just to experiment with labview. But my
client is using NT4 SP6, with a dual processor Xeon system (although
we've removed one of the CPU's due to various weirdities with labview).
Any additional pointers or confirmations would be most helpful.

If you inflate any arrays or strings before calling the DLL, then
there shouldn't be any problem calling into the DLL. This is how
the NI drivers are built. If you would rather, then you can use
the ActiveX client functions. LV can contain controls, and can
access any automation server. The function for importing is the
Automation Open function. Its in the ActiveX palette. Popup on
it to create an automation refnum, and type it to be the server
that you are creating and registering.
As for problems with the Dual processor, I now of a number of
LV users that use dual processor machines with no problem. If
you have problems, it is more likely to be a problem with a
driver. If it is anything reproducable, then please report it
    to NI.

  • Advise Requested - Building a Home Server using Solaris 10

I'm currently a Wintel sysadmin, and I'm relatively new to Unix. I know the basics, and I have been reading up on it. I'll be taking a the 200 level Sun class in August or September. I'll be working with Solaris on an increased basis at work very soon. Since I've been thinking of building a home server for some time I thought it would be a good opportunity (and challenge) to teach myself Solaris by building a server with Solaris 10 for Intel processors.
I would like to setup a server with a RAID mirror. It's mostly going to be a Samba file server, Apache web server, and backup server for all of my home Windows Vista PCs. I'll likely put in two 1 terabite HDDs in it. I might also use it as a VPN server for my home network eventually as a I learn more.
Does anyone have suggestions they could give me on hardware? I prefer to build an ATX compliant clone.
So far this is the motherboard I'm considering:

ANY ADVISE would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Change your SSH port to something other than 22! Make sure your ssh keys use passphrases. You can setup keychain (ssh-agent) on the server and clients to keep keys in memory if you desire without constantly retyping (and for automated backups).

  • Install hanging when registering automation server

I'm tearing my hair out, as well as getting my 4rse kicked by the other half!
We've had iTunes up and running on our Vista Home Premium box for a while, then it just stopped working coming up with an error.
So I've tried re-installing, but 7.3 keeps hanging when trying to register the automation server. Worst still I have to kill it with Task Manager and it leaves a partial install that refuses to uninstall!
Any guidance would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Stuart

Registering Automation Server hangs are actually a 7.x.x.x thing rather than a 7.3.0.54 thing. I've seen them with 7.2.0.x too.
    Perhaps try this strategy.
First download and then install the QuickTime standalone installer:
Latest Quicktime Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention iTunes
If that install goes through properly, then try another iTunes install.
(The theory here is that if your QuickTime is already up to date, the iTunes installer bundle skips the QuickTime part of the install. If the iTunes installer is given less to do, sometimes it gets past the Registering Automation Server hang.)

  • JDBC Sender Channel polling before polling interval is complete

    Hi all,
On our Production Server, we have found that a few JDBC Sender Channels are polling multiple times within one polling interval.
Eg: Suppose for one channel, the polling interval is 7200 secs. It polls once and the polling interval starts. But it polls again 1 or 2 times more maybe just 5 secs later before its next scheduled poll in 7200 secs.
Unfortunately, our scenarios are such that when there are multiple polls within a short span of time, there are data anomolies, causing inconsistancies on Receiver side DB. Hence this is a serious uissue.
Please Help. FYI, all the affected channels run on the same schedule. I am not sure if that can be causing this abnormality.

    H Varun
I have not come across this behavior earlier. But if you are polling same data base using multiple channel at same time data inconsistency can be there. We always prefer to poll the same data base tables with different timings. Setting up poll timings always consider peak loads. Try to change the polls and see if the same behavior exists.
