I put the file in automator, put convert under, execute.
I have a audio file, BUT it only the name and the place where the file is that is read....

You need the "Combine Text Files" action to get the contents of the text file.
Insert the "Combine Text Files" action before the "Text to Audio File" action.

Unable to save Word documents when accessing them directly from the site because the document never converts from a read-only even though the User chooses to enable editing

Issue has only popped up recently and cannot reproduce in a Test environment. Unaware of any SharePoint changes, so hoping someone can point me in the correct direction.
Previously Word document did not have to be physically checked out, but rather the editing of the doc also checked out the doc in a document library. This is the way we want it to remain –
no manual check-out process. Now if a doc is edited without being checked-out, there is an issue with the process as the application thinks the doc is read-only (message received when trying to save the doc) even if enable editing is selected. The

Previously, when check-out was optional, a file was checked out automatically when someone opened it for editing, unless it was already checked out. The editing commands notified the User that the file is being/was checked out. The real issue is the
word doc can no longer be saved as the application still believes the doc is read-only.

According to your description, you give the domain admin full control over files on the old file server, but you cannot move the files to the new file server. After pull the files from the old to the new file server, the domain admin can only read the files
on the new file server.
How did you move the files from the old file server to the new file server? Did you setup replication between the two file server or use robocopy?
Please check the files permissions on the new file server to see if the permissions are changed, then share the folder on the new file server to everyone to see the result.

Convert standby to read only

In DataGuard (or manual Standby) even if the Standby database is RAC, only one node and instance is used to manage recovery. So, you would be having the database instance up and applying managed recovery on only one node. You would stop managed recovery on that node and shutdown and startup (read only) again on that node.

You'll be building up a backlog of archivelogs. You need to ensure that you have enough disk space (on the primary and standby) for those archivelogs.
Also note that your DR protection will be unavailable while the standby is OPEN READ ONLY. If your primary goes down after 12hours or 24hours, your Standby has data only as of 12hours or 24hours ago. Some sites choose to build 2 standby's, one continuously running recovery and another open READ ONLY as and when required. OR to use Active Dataguard Licence.

Pl post details of OS, database and EBS versions.
Menus cannot be made READ_ONLY - this attribute applies only to functions. You will have to build a custom menu with custom functions that are READ_ONLY, then assign the custom menu to a custom responsibility.

i am a complete novice at this however this is what I want to achieve.
i Have a paper duplicate report sheet that I want to get electronically, I want to be able to add sequential numbers to each report and be able to email the report to the client from a email field in the form
so far I have so I have created the pdf form, I have a button that runs a JavaScript that will hide the submit button and then send to the clients email and to bcc myself so I have a copy of the report also. This has been tested and works
i Am struggling with sequential numbering and once the form has been emailed it's un-ditable as the JavaScript has converted it to read only for emailing which is good as it can't be edited. But Is there a way on my submit button to email the report as read only and then clear all form fields in the report ready for filling with the next sequential number?
I Have had a good look sound for a resolution to this but am struggling

I presume that you are using the desktop version of Acrobat Pro to author the form.

Please note that the Reader/Acrobat DC mobile apps (for iOS, Android, Windows Phone, etc.) have limited JavaScript support.

You may be able to make the form work as you want in the desktop version of Adobe Reader/Acrobat Reader DC. However, some functionality (e.g adding a sequence number to each PDF) will not work in the mobile apps due to the limited JavaScript support. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Automator plug-in added to read-only calendar in iCal

I was trying the 'Tiger Tip of the Week' about creating an Automator workflow saved as an iCal Alarm plug-in. Unfortunately, it added it to the 'Holidays' calendar, which is read-only. I found where the plug-in was saved in my library and deleted it, but the 'Boston Globe' event was still on my calendar. Luckily, I was able to unsubscribe and re-subscribe to the US Holidays shared calendar and make it disappear, but what did I do wrong? I didn't have any options available when saving as a plug-in.

One way I've gotten around some weird problems like this in the past is to export my calendars to the Desktop, and then re-import them back into iCal. I'm not sure if this will work for you, however. You also might try backing up and restoring via File->Back up iCal... . Hope that helps.
Edit: if the problem is related to a calendar you've published, Apple offers these suggestions (from iCal Help):
■ If you want to change events on a calendar that you published on the Internet, but you’ve deleted the calendar from your Calendars list, you need to re-create the calendar with all its events, give it the same name as the published calendar, and then publish the new calendar. The new calendar will replace the previously published one.
■ If you can’t change an event for which you are the organizer, or you can’t change the attendee settings for an event you’ve been invited to, make sure all your email addresses are listed on your Address Book card (the card marked “me”).

Referring to your previous message when you said you'd converted via Acrobat and not Acrobat.com, I'm converting via Acrobat.com because that's the only option that is shown (how do I convert via Acrobat? - perhaps that would be more successful). I'm using the Export PDF website, and the OCR is enabled to "Recognize text in English UK". However, I've just tried converting a different LPA pdf form, this time for Health & Welfare https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/245571/LPA114_He alth_welfare_LPA.pdf and again I have the same problem as before. I've altered it from "Read only" and thought I'd then be able to enter text, but "Drawing Tools" is shown in the pane and I'm unable to enter anything onto the form - everything appears to be in images. Also, the lettering on the heading of' page 1 has become jumbled, with the word "Public" overlaying the word "Guardian." Any suggestions as to what it is I'm doing wrong would be welcome - I don't like to be beaten!

I just tried it, and was able to convert a Word .doc to to PDF, in spite of the fact that it was marked Read Only. Here are the instructions for uploading and converting to PDF with Acrobat.com:

Convert editable PDF to read-only when sent in an email - JavaScript

I have a real estate company that is trying to have an application that a agent and customer can fill in the needed information, hit a submit button, have the javascript compose an email with the attached pdf. Here's the issue I'm having: I need to be able to convert the editable pdf to a read only so when the customer receives a copy they cannot edit the information again.

Firstly you will need to buy a Reader Extensions license (this allows Reader to save the form data - otherwise the client will require Acrobat). Once this is done, you will then need a button (called "Lock Down" or something) that executes a script that makes all of the fields readOnly and updates a form variable (say, "locked") to indicate that the form is locked. You will also need to add a script to the initialize event that checks for the value of "locked", then executes the readOnly script (if the form needs to be locked down). An example of a readOnly script can be found on page 434 of http://www.adobe.com/go/learn_lc_scriptingReference (see "Disabling all form fields" script)
Here is a sample form ( https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/9df046bd-1125-4923-95de-35fc845139ca ) with a 'Lock All fields' button. Once you click this button all the forms turn 'Read only'.
Another way to accomplish this which still requires Reader Extensions or Acrobat Pro is to use digital signatures. The people you are sending this to should have certificates set up.

Enhancement request - ADF BC convert EO based VO to read-only VO

Can't see if we can do the following in 11g (or 10.1.3); is it possible? Otherwise would be a nice to have.
If at design time I mistakenly create an ADF BC VO as one that is based on an EO (ie. updateable VO), but it would be better suited to a read-only VO (for the documented runtime efficiencies), a tool to convert the updateable VO to a read-only VO without losing the attributes and SQL query settings would be great. Ideally a right mouse click option on the VO or via the VO document window as an option.

You should be able to copy the existing query to the clipboard, remove the entities, then paste in the query again.
Numerous new runtime features in 11g depend on having an EO-based view object, and the runtime overhead is not large, so in practice our internal best practice for our own Oracle Applications development teams will be to use entity-based VO's most of the time going forward.
It's true there is a small amount of overhead still, and view objects used for SQL-based validation purposes will still be good candidates (as well as view objects that don't want to see the pending changes in the entity cache for some application-specific reason).

How to convert read-only disk image to read/write disk image?

There was some problem with the Mavericks firmware and i keep getting the "white screen of death". I tried the method of backing up Macintosh HD to an external drive via Disk Utility. The problem is I saved it as a compressed file (read-only). I wasn't aware of the problem and went ahead and delete the original Macintosh HD files and set up everything fresh.
Then when i wanted to back up all my old files from Macintosh HD disk image back up that i created, i can't because the dmg is read-only. I tried to convert it to read/write with disk utility but it couldn't.
Is there another way to extract the videos and photos? That's all i need.

A blank empty read only disk image has never been possible. If it's read-only, it cannot be modified, and so it would be blank and empty forever. Not much point in that.
If you want read-only and encryption on your finished disk image, you'll have to put your files into a folder, and then do File -> New -> Disk image from folder.

Read only Automation

Hi All,
Im looking for some help in regards to making a PDF file read only.
basicaly what we want to do is add a signature not a digital one but a wet one to a document then have a button or something that can then restrict access (read only ) and then save as.
Ive had a look through and cant find many options to do so.
doing it manualy is not a problem but its not what we are looking for we dont want to have clients doing this.
If you could edit the run menu items that would be awsome, but this is frankly doing my head in, there doesnt seem to be any anwsers out there.,

There's a method called encryptUsingPolicy, which can encrypt a document
using the provided policy object and handler.
It can only be used in Acrobat, and from a trusted context, though.

Attachment converting to Read Only

I've created a form in livecycle that has signature fields. The actual pdf has a microsoft word document (.doc) attached to it so people can add links to the form. When I open the form and fill it out, then open the attachment and add links everything works fine. However, when I sign the pdf form using the signature field, someone else who opens the pdf form and then the word document attachment can only see the attachment in Read Only mode. Is there a way to stop the addition of a signature from making the attachment Read Only?

Audio suddenly only on left track now, some music no longer reading.

Hi there,
After just completing a normal export in premiere with no issues, I open up my project again to find that the audio is only playing on the left track in the sound monitor(in premiere) and on my speakers. I have no idea what's going on because I didn't change anything before saving. Also 2 of the .mp3 files suddenly won't play despite being on the timeline.
I have no idea what's going on but I can't fix it - even copied the edit to a new sequence, the problem follows.
As you can see in the image, the sound file has tracks on both left and right but isn't playing and there are no filters on the sound:

I selected all the audio clips in my sequence and dragged them all down one audio track. Fixed the damn problem!!! I don't know what was happening and it doesn't explain much but everything went back to normal.
I took and attached a picture of what the audio mixer looked like during playback:
I'm not sure how to expand the audio to show more of the "yellow" line. But you can see a yellow line in the picture here.
** well dragging them fixed it but I can't seem to replicate this fix on every sequence. It's better than nothing but I'm still uncertain.
below you can see the original track on "audio track 3" that for some reason isn't working and above it in "audio track 1" is the same file, just me placing it there newly. It's driving me bonkers.
**UPDATE** The audio tracks, along with some being panned -100, other were set to -infinity on the channel volume. I'm not sure how premiere decided to do this or how I would have prompted it. To fix this i simply changed the channel volume back to 0db

'Read-Only' is applied to 44k photos while using LR5...can't save work.

As noted in the title...
Using MacPro (5 years old), OS Lion, full RAM, 4 HD's with 2 TB+ drives, plenty ofroom left over in all.
ALL 44k images located in one LR3 catalog (recent upgrade to LR5 hoping for remedy 2 days ago) show 'read-only' notice, so after doing any kind of work on them in develop, etc. I select all (in specific folder, not 44k photos!) then save it, a notice comes up and says these are 'read-only' files. Thus not able to save any work that is apparent in LR. BUT, when exported as JPG all changes are saved.
I have opened various folders, NOT via LR, but via Finder (OS Lion) and opened one by one using PS 4 and they open fine in RAW converter window. Save as PSD, all files look fine. Same for JPG's.
The issue is LR, or hard drive or something along the chain where the photos, when viewed in LR, say they are 'read-only'.
Via Finder window I have opened various files (denoting read-only notice) and right-clicked to 'get info' on that specific photo. ALL files are 'read and write', there are NO files that are denoted read-only when getting the info. I checked 50+ photos in 25 different folder locations.
Laptop test:
I started a new LR catalog in LR5, with ZERO photos and imported a few folders, with images that had 'read-only' notice to make sure I tested the same photos that had given me the read-only notice.
Did a test on photos with 'read-only' files on a laptop (OS Mountain Lion), pulled files from HD where ALL 44k photos are located. Copied to thumb drive, imported with LR5, copied to desktop in test folder, all photos came in fine, slected all, did global edit to all images, saved all, all images were saved with NO 'read-only' notice. This is true for a series of folders.
So my test, if it proves anything, is that either LR is messed-up or the HD is messed-up on MacPro tower or something is telling LR to show the 'read-only' notice to pop up.
Back-ups:
Back-ups were done from HD where all 44K photos reside, to 2 (two) other drives, within MacPro tower. So ALL 44k photos are essentially the same. This was a drag-n-drop not using Super Duper or similar byte-verification software.
Any ideas on why ALL 44k images say 'read-only', when viewed in LR5 in MacPro tower but NOT in laptop? HD is 5 years old...could this be the weak link?
Also, considering to wipe the complete system drive (not HD where photos reside) and re-load everything from scratch to begin anew. My concern is will this help and then, will wiping all drives and re-loading all images, then re-loading LR5 catalog will solve this. I am resigned to a week of doing this if it works as right now, I am at a stand still and cannot go forward or backward.

Ok, before we square off on the definition of metadata. I was saving work done in the develop module, as in developing the photo to my taste. Once I am done with the work, I either select the one image or all images in a folder and save the work. If the saving action is indeed called metadata (that is written to the xmp sidecar file) so be it. All I care about is that the sidecar file hangs onto the work I just did. Thus if a catalog is corrupted, I can re-load a recent back-up (done every time LR exits) and not have to do the work again. I also want to make sure my photos can be used even if LR dies, fades away into obscurity or no longer works. I do not want my photos to be 'prisoners' of Adobe LR or any other software. That is why I tested the photos outside of LR, by opening them in PS and see if my settings stayed as I had them before. If LR automatically saves the work to the catalog, great, no worries.
Now, onto the issue at hand.
Why do I get 'read-only' when I try to save work to a photo or a bunch of photos within a folder?
Where do I go to get "permission to write to a folder', whether using LR or any other software?
