  • Usage of material variants in automotive industry

    Dear Experts,
I want to understand the usage of material variants in an automotive industry (car or two-wheeler). Please provide the config settings required and also the usage of super BOM & Routing (if required) with the complete flow. I would prefer if someone can share the scenarios in a two-wheeler industry.
    Thanks in advance.
    Sameer

    Hi Suresh,
    Thanks for your answer.
1)We have about 9 characteristics. If we need to create material variants, around 200 material variants will be required to be created. Is that the best option?
2)If we select the first characteristic value, we want only those remaining chararacteristics to be available for selection which are related to the first characteristic. Likewise, we want to have control over the selection of each characteristic, till all the characteristic value selections are made in the sales order. Is it possible that a pop-up comes with the available characteristic options for that combination/s.
3)Can we make a super BOM for items selection? How can I control the selections from the super BOM? Can it be done via Object Dependencies? Routings are same for all the options.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Role of Quality Management udring NPDI Stage for Automotive industry

    Hi All,
Can anyone tell me how the quality requirements for automotive industry, during NPD stage can be addressed by mySAP PLM-Quality Management?
    Best Regards
    Guruprasad

    Hello Isabelle,
Greetings! and thanks for the reply.
Can you please elaborate more on exit - QPL10001. I am not clear where the Inspection plan will be maintained and with what usage? How the inspection lot will get generated? is it need to trigger manually?
I will just explain the scenario in short- During <b>New Product development</b>, OEM can get the parts in 2 ways, one is from Supplier and another in-house production.
<b>In case of supplier parts</b> it comes as a sample part till finalisation of drawing and other aspects. At all stages during development, suppler part quality is throughly verified - dimenstionally, metallurgically, performace, endurance etc..
here am facing  2 main difficulties
    1.Too many number of characteristics.
2.How the results recorded can be identified, later when moved to regular production? since the parts will be inspected against inspetion type 01.
Similarly, <b>for MIW (made in works / in-house production)</b> material / part is manufactured without using actual machines initially and hence there is no rate-routing and no inspection characteristics assigned to material.
In the later stage on the process is finalised and rate routing is maintaied.
    Here am facing problem as,
    1. No rate routing and hence no inspection characteristics initially at NPD.
2.And even if I maintain the inspection characteristics in rate routing, Since Auto industry follows repetetive manufactuing scenario, the Production order type - PP01 etc is not of use.
am trying with manual generation of inspection lot for material version - using MFPR...asking client to maintain the inspection characteristics in rate routing to cater the requirement.
I will really be glad if u could slightly brief - on how/ where to maintain inspection plan and how will the inspection lot will get generated?
    Thanks a lot.
    take care

  • Accounting for a specific expense in Automotive Industry

    Hi to everyone
We currently on the implementation of SAP at a motor vehicle dealership. I would like to know how I will account for registration fee of a car when doing an invoice.
Registration fee is paid by the dealer on behalf of the client. This registration should appear on the invoice but should not accounted in the turnover of the dealer as this sum is paid on behalf of the client.
How would you create registration fee? As an item? which category? and on what tax code would you allocate it.
    Thanks
    Kentish

You could create Regitration with Item Level G/L instead of basing it on a Item Group / Warehouse.  this can be done by going to the Item Master, Inventory Tab and chaging Set G/L Accounts By - Item Level
This will let you change the GL account at the row level for each warehouse.
Setup a Special Price for this Item so that it gets 100% discount at the row level when you add to the marketing document.
This way the cost would go to COGS and no revenue will be realized at it is discounted 100%

  • EDI types in automotive industry

    Hi all
Wanted to get some information on the types of EDI exchange between OEMs and their suppliers. What is the EDI format type that is used for JIT calls or for scheduling agreements and forecasted delivery schedule.Any information on middleware will also be useful.
    thanks a lot

Kind of depends on who the customer is and where in the world. Let's assume North America.
The OEMs and Tier ones typically send their suppliers X12 830's, usually with an X12 862 (but not always), and expect an 856 back, or an EDifact DELFOR, and usually a DELJIT, and expect a DESADV back.
830's usually mapped as DELINS or DELFOR Logical Idocs with E1EDP10-SCREL = 03, and end up on the Forecast Delivery Schedule tab of an SD Scheduling agreement.
If the 862's / DELJIT's just have dates and quantities, and maybe with a PO # at the header level, these are mapped as DELINS Idocs or DELJIT Idocs with E1EDP10-SCREL =02, and they end up on the JIT Delivery Schedule tab.
If the 862's contain RAN #'s, Delivery Order Numbers or Kanban numbers, these are mapped as SEQJIT Idocs and handled as Summarized JIT Calls.
Middleware might be from GXS/Inovis, Sterling/Gentran, Seeburger or Atos, for some examples.

  • Automotive  - SAP business process certificate

    Hi everyone,
I am a newbie to SAP and i am interested in BPM. I have a strong background in business analysis and project management but with little SAP implementation project experience.
I am interested in the Automotive Industry to obtain the new SAP business process expert certification.
Can anyone point me in the right direction in relation to the following?
Automotive (CKD or OEM) SAP solutions/modules
business process modelling tools in relation to SAP
advice on how to break into the BPM career from an SAP perspective.
    Thanks
    Nader Hanafy

    Hi Hanafy,
Giving a pointwise reply to ur queries. Hope this helps.
Automotive (CKD or OEM) SAP solutions/modules- Please visit the link https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/bpx/automotive. Ithink it will bea good starting point.
business process modelling tools in relation to SAP- There are many modelling tools available but I would recommend ARIS which is mostly widely used. Please visit  www.ids-scheer.com
advice on how to break into the BPM career from an SAP perspective. BPM is a very niceh area in conjuction to SAP projects. I hope u are aware of SAP  implemenattion phases. BPM is emerging as a must do step before business blueprinting which is the core of any implementation. ARIS can be well integrated with SAP solution Manager and SAP is promoting this in a very big way. there are sucess stories for these which I can share with you.

  • Implementing IM&C Industry solution in BW

    Hi All,
We are trying to implement Industrial Machinery and Components Industry solution in BW.
but standard sap business content is not available for this Industry.
IM&C is similar to Automotive industry. can i use the Standard Automotive BI Content for IM&C by adding some custom development.
Please suggest anyone is having idea on this IM&C Template.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sasi.

    Hi HJ,
The Industry best practice information can be found at http://service.sap.com/bestpractices.
The bill of materials for SAP ERP can be found in the SAP ERP master guide (http://service.sap.com/instguides). You will see this guide that almost all of SAP NetWeaver is shipped with the SAP ERP software.
With regard to licensing you typically get licensing of all the SAP NetWeaver capabilities needed to configure, deploy and run the SAP ERP application solutions. You typically not do get licensing for integration of SAP ERP and non-SAP ERP applications/technology - this requires additional licensing. Your SAP Account Executive will have more information for you.
    Cheers,
    Mike.

  • BOM-structured RFx in manufacturiong industry

    Hi,
Do you have the reference of Bidding Engine for direct material sourcing?
Especially in Automotive industry, there seems to be the case RFx has BOM-structured lines of assy.
In SRM Bidding Engine, we can use the "outline" function, but I have never heard this function is used in direct material sourcing in manufacturing industry.
If you have any idea to handle BOM-structured RFx, please share it.
    regards,
    Tadasuke

    Hi Tadasuke,
Outlining functionality is useful if you want to source a set of products from a single supplier. In this case you can bundle all the items into one lot called as outline and create a bid invitation for that.
But, for bidding for matrials in a BOM, SAP xApp Cost & Quote management is more suitable. You can find information on xCQM at https://websmp208.sap-ag.de/xapps

    Parts Purchasing
    Parts Stock Transferring
    External Service Procurement
    Customer Management
    Used-Vehicle Purchasing
New Vehicle Sales with Down Payment
New Vehicle Sales with Cross Plant Stock Transfer
New Vehicle Sales with Cross Company Stock Transfer
    New Vehicle Sales from Showroom

    Parts Cash Sales and Returns
Order Cancellation with Fast Order Entry
    Customer Management
