Autonomy

I need to enable users to access documents stored in Content Services throw Autonomy.
The integration way is create a specific fetch using an admin user that is able at least to read each document stored : content, metadata and security.
I know how to develop that with web services. But I think that the performance should be a problem.
Does any body have already done such a thing ?

PROS:
Using the Webservices you can trigger the BPM Process and pass the values from the web dypro component which will available for the end user and pass it on to the BPM Proess.
We can use EJB as a webservice, where the automated activity in the BPM can output the value based on the logic in the EJB Function. We can manage the automated activity which runs in the back ground of the process as per our logic and returns the value to the next task.
CONS
Using Webservices in the various activity with fewer data is not advisable as it takes longer time to deploy the process. And any change in the data in the webservices requires regularly re importing of the web services.

in all the customizing setting of note 308989 are good, then those fields should be filled.
Please check it very carefully.
Please check in customizing of sales order type (transaction VOV8) if the intercompany billing type maintained.
In case of stock tranfer order intercompany (where there is not sales order), run transaction 0VLK, display the delivery type used, and check the order type present in field 'Default Ord.Ty.' (usually it is 'DL').
Then check in VOV8 for this sales order type.
If everything is fine, then it is necessary to debug the delivery creation.
The field LIKP-VKOIV etc. should be filled in program FV50XFLK_LIKP_FUELLEN_IV in intercompany sales; program FV50XFLK_LIKP_FUELLEN_IV_UML in stock transfer order intercompany.

Battery level when out of box + real autonomy

Hi!!
I just bought a New Ipad (3). When out of the box, the battery was only charged to 69%, is that normal? Right after I turned it on for the first time and set it up, the battery decreased to 64% after only 10 min. Do you think it has a problem?
One more question: when it says "up to 10 hours" autonomy, does it mean I can stream for 10 hours (Netflix for exemple) ? Or is it more the average autonomy for an average us (web + some video + reading...etc)?
How long can the battery last when streaming 100% of the time (such as Netflix) ? Same question for when watching movies that are on my ipad (no streaming) ?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). WebLogic Portal 9.2 MP1 Autonomy BEACMRepoFetch issue

I would like to ask you a favor to look into my issue and respond if you have found a way to fix it.
BEACMRepoFetch was not indexing the BEA CM contents with the default portal domain. I went through the documentation and found out that the "Search Indexing Enabled" must be "true" in WebLogic Admin Console | Content Management | BEA Repository. I changed the property value to "true". Now I get the following error. The CM full serach is still not working.

The following need to be configured for CM Full Text Search (and BEACMRepoFetch) to work properly: (note these instructions are for a development box, not a production system)
- this Autonomy integration will work with a BEA Repository
- verify WLP_SEARCH_OPTION is set in the shell/command window before the server is started. This can be set to 'full', 'minimal', or 'none'. Set to 'full' to start up all the Autonomy processes.
- verify the autonomy processes start up and stay running. You should see 8 or so processes like AutonomyIDOLServer.exe, content.exe, AutonomyDiSH.exe, category.exe, community.exe, FileSystemFetch.exe, BEACMRepoFetch.exe, HTTPFetch.exe, etc. I like to use the Process Explorer tool on Windows because it shows the hierarchy of processes.
- check the Autonomy logs in the tree at WL_HOME/portal/thirdparty/autonomy/<os> for any 'error', 'warning', 'fail', 'unable', 'cannot', 'can't' messages. On windows, I like to use a tool like Agent Ransack to scan all *.log files in the entire directory tree for these strings. One semi-common message is that Autonomy sometimes will not start up if there is less than 1 Gb of free disk space.
- verify the following properties/settings are set on the repository config (note some of these default to true): search-enabled=TRUE, fulltext-search-is-enabled=TRUE, search-indexing-is-enabled=TRUE, cm_fireRepositoryEvents=TRUE
- verify your type and any associated properties have indexing enabled.

Pb of autonomy when I don't use my ipod

Hello,
I have an ipod mini 2G since 2 years and when I don't use it, the autonomy is low : only 3 days. I fully load it and after 3 days without use, no more battery.
This issue exists since the beginning. I've have already changed the battery and regurlarly updated software without improvement,
is it normal or not ?
The autonomy when I use it seems correct : about 12 h maybe more,

I just don't understand one thing. Before last week I had no problems about it (I had wifi all the time, even when I did'nt use my iphone, and now (when I came back from holiday) it does'nt go anymore. So buying a iphone wasn't a good idea. I have wifi, but if I don't use my iphone it is not possibel to reach me because the wifi falls off.
I understand that it is for saving the battery. But I still don't understand that it stops working (my wifi).

Search ranking (Autonomy) of weblogic portal's content management?

Hi All,
I would like to know is there any methods for me to manually customize the ranking of the search results of the contents in the content management repository provided by the weblogic portal? Either in Autonomy aspect or in Weblogic portal aspect is ok.
What I prefer is to add some tags into the content document so that I can make the desired content to have a higher ranking in the search results.

Hi Kevin,
If there is a single search you wish to order results for, and the search results are generally of a single ObjectClass, one way to do this is to add a new property definition of a numerical type to the ObjectClass.
Make this an explicit property (which means you would need to manually add a column to the CM_NODE table).
For each Node in the search result, you could assign this property value.
You can then sort on the explicit property values in the search.

Trying to index Same URL - But its getting discarded-( Autonomy Search)

We have a applicatoion page , which displays Spanish/Arabic/Chinese/English Content based on Langauge Selection.
By default , the page will display English Content.
Upon Selecting other language , the same page will be refreshed and selected language content will be displayed.
And I have created a SPIDER Process to index application pages.
But, Other language Content is not getting indexed .(Only English Content is getting indexed as it is default langauge selection)
As same page is getting refreshed for other language selection, same URL is discarded as shown below.

we created separate autonomy spider databases for each language. We also experimented with using a dummy url which listed all the links with all the languages where the spider could begin from using a parameter in the url that would set the language and cookies. we finally realised that all of this is ok for Autonomy but pretty bad for an external spider like Google (maintaining the language in session/cookie isnt very Spider friendly).
The best solution is a RESTful approach. your URL's should be of the form
http://site/en/whateverelse and you can use webserver stripping/ filters / beehive url config/ etc so that your site generates the URL correctly. may be a little late in the game for you if your development is well underway

Autonomy integration in BEA WLS 9.2

I am trying to use the Autonomy portlets with BEA WLS 9.2. To do so I have followed the instructions at

After successfully going through the indicated steps, the portlets do not deploy because of unmet dependencies for the following packages:
* com.autonomy.client
* com.autonomy.portlet
* com.autonomy.APSL
Where can I find the jar file that contains these packages?

Seems like you might have missed step 4 in the Autonomy Portlet installation instructions at http://edocs.bea.com/wlp/docs92/search/searchdev.html#wp1026209
These classes are found in AutonomyPiB.jar, which inside of the AutonomyPortlets.zip file. This jar file should be placed in your EAR's APP-INF/lib directory.

Autonomy Oracle UCM connector to access Oracle UCM 11g

How do I setup Oracle UCM 11g instance so that we can test the Autonomy Oracle UCM connector? Are there any specific configurations or do we need to install anything to make Autonomy Oracle UCM connector to access Oracle UCM 11g. Any help is appreciated.

Autonomy sells a connector that will index items in Oracle UCM into the IDOL Server. You'll have to check with Autonomy on the versions supported and the cost. With this, you could get UCM information into IDOL just the same as you are doing with HTTPFetch and FileSystemFetch.
As for connecting UCM into the WLP Virtual Content Repository, there is not yet anything provided out of the box. However, you can implement your own CM SPI to provide this or you can wait for the product to provide it. It is my understanding that there will be a VCR integration via the CM SPI coming soon.
Finally, BEACMRepoFetch is basically a pre-configured and privately used instance of FileSystemFetch. This is used by the BEA Content Repository to populate the IDOL Server index for full text searches coming through the VCR full text search API.

Didn't get any bites on this, but thought I'd follow up on my original post. I looked around a bit more and opted for the ZOOM search engine for my site.
The authors appear on their own support forum quite a bit and have helped with the learning curve.
All in all I'm pleased with ZOOM.

Content Methodology for Autonomy Search

I have a general question about content and how to use it with
Autonomy. If you load all of the content into the /dmsbase directory
and then try to use Autonomy to search that directory how do you
display it since dmsbase is not exposed via the webapp. I currently
have Autonomy up and running and indexing off of the dmsBase
directory. The search works great but how do I click on the results
and have them come up since the dmsBase directory cannot be access via
a URL.

One simple way is create a navigation bar in the content area you are interested in searching, containing just the search element, and expose that navigation bar as a portlet.
Now you can add this portlet to any page and the search will search only on the content area it belongs to.

Autonomy Backup Client - issue with full backup but incrementals okay

We run Autonomy to back-up our Laptops across the enterprise .
I notice on one laptop here that the account within Autonomy Admin shows taht "Last known good full backup = Not applicable", but when you go into client history you can see that the incremental backups have been happening okay.
Should I be conerned? Is this backup file corrupt? If so, how please can I fix with minimal impact to the user.

For this unless this is a HP software product you need to contact the Software manufacture that you use for your backup for support on their software...

Problems with Autonomy Lite Portlets for WLP 4.0

Hello,
Ive recenlty installed the autonomy lite portlets, but am getting no functionality.
i followed the install docs exactly, but get a "cant communicate with DRE" error
in my portlet. Also, when i run a search, I always get no results even though the
logs would suggests that all my dir material has been imported. Any ideas? does the
DRE have to reside on a separate port/machine? I am also getting an error in the
logs saying "cant bind to index port." Any ideas there?

I not sure if this help you, but I've noticed the same problem with downloading contacts on my E65 after upgrade HF from v2.1 to 3.0. Both automatic and manual download of contacts from phone didn't work anymore. But I've found very simple "workaround"on forums - to send all contacts as a card via bluetooth to HF - and ... I works. The only limitation is that you must send updated or new contacts manually from phone to HF. Maybe it will be useful...
