Autorecognition causes screen to switch to another Space (bug)

I have a problem with the auto-recognition function. The function itself work fine, but it is displayed in another Space.
So when I work in Space 2 with Numbers, whenever the auto-recgnition (as a drop down box) is to appear... the screen switches to, say, Space 1. Then when I react to the auto-recognition function, the screen is automatically switched back to Space 2.
Does anyone know what's happening?

I believe the feature meant is called "auto-completion." Auto-correction fixes capitalization, changes regular quotes to "smart" ones, & so on. Auto-completion offers to complete an entry, based on entries already existing in the table.
Auto-completion can be turned off in the "General" section of preferences. Auto-correction has its own tab in the preferences, where various of its options can be turned on & off.
However, I do not think auto-completion should cause any switch to another Space. (At least, I cannot duplicate this behavior.)
It might be worth doing some basic checks of the health of the system (like repairing permissions) or possibly creating a new user account to see if the behavior continues in that user account. (If not, it could indicate a bad preference file.)
Also check carefully the Application assignments & other options in Spaces to see if that offers a clue. For instance, is the switch always to the space assigned to some other application?

Typing in search box causes screen to switch to full screen, with no buttons (versions 34.0.5 and 35.0)

When I start to enter a search term into the search field on the top right of the screen the window will switch to full screen mode and all the buttons disappear. If I move the cursor to the top of the screen the resize button appears and I can switch it back. This happens several times a day, but not every time I use the search box. It happens if I have the window maximised or resized to fill less than the monitor screen.
This is hugely annoying. It started happening when I upgraded to version 34.0.5 and is still happening in 35.0.
You have made some changes to the search function as it now automatically gives me an annoying drop down box to choose a search provider. Is this change the cause of this problem?
I am running Windows 7 (64 bit)
Please tell me how to prevent this, it is driving me crazy.

Sounds that you switch full screen mode on.
If you run Firefox in full screen mode then press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle (Mac: Command+Shift+F).

Popup balloons in X (Quartz) apps forces switch to another Space

Hi,
Please tell me there is a fix for this, as I have dealt with it even since the Leopard launch. Let's say you have an X window (Quartz) app running in space 4 and you are viewing space 1. Now, move the mouse cursor to a position that would prompt a popup balloon in the X app in space 4. Spaces will switch to space 4 to show the popup even though you're on space 1. I was at a large conference last week showing demos of our software and this happened several times to me while doing so. I had to explain to the confused attendees that it was Spaces misbehaving. This is a really embarrassing problem that I'm praying Apple will fix.

To assign an application to open in a particular space you can either go to the Spaces icon at the top of your monitor and choose the bottom entry "Open Spaces Preferences (if enabled) or open the System Preference for Spaces and in the middle of the window click on the + button to add an application to the Application Assignments window.
After you add the application, you click on the double arrows on the right side of the window and choose which Space the program is supposed to use. This works pretty well for me.
The only thing that's missing from other programs that did multiple desktops in Tiger is the ability to name the Spaces instead of just using numbers (like "Internet" instead of "1").
I use 9 Spaces because I switch to the different desktops by using the Control key plus a number. I have a cheat sheet set up on paper, pinned on the wall to remind me where certain programs are supposed to open. I've memorized the proper number for most of my assignments, but sometimes I have a brain **** with lesser used programs.

Pages '09 in full screen tooltip appears on other Spaces

I'm using Lion 10.7.1, Pages '09 (4.1, 923) on a mid-2010 13" Macbook Pro.
I love the full screen view on Pages and I use four desktops with Spaces. In the last couple of days I've used one of Pages' Newsletter templates (doesn't matter which, they all do it) and with Pages full screen if I switch to another Space and rest the mouse over a point on screen where there's an image on the Pages Space, the "This image is a placeholder. Drag a new media file here to replace it." yellow tooltip comes up. If I move the mouse onto the tooltip and click the screen slides back to Pages. This is pretty annoying if, say, on that other Space I'm using another application, the Pages tooltip comes up just before I click, and suddenly the focus changes back to Pages.
Doesn't happen with Keynote or Numbers when using their templates that have placeholder images.
Can someone check if this behavious is consistent and does anybody have any suggestions how to stop it?

Personally I never upgrade to a new OSX till it reaches version x.3
With Lion I may make that an exception and wait till it is v x.13 or higher, or maybe never. I am so glad I bought my iMac before Apple enforces Lion on all their latest models.
Lion is looking more like Vista every day.

If you have another pointing device installed, remember that the Mac uses "all sources live". You can literally use two or more mice or two or more keyboards at once.
Your trackpad, if that is what you are using, must be very clean. Any debris may be seen as another "finger".

Screen Gets Blue After Switching To Another Account

Is it me or has anyone else experienced this when you switch to another account the screen sometimes goes blue

I'm getting this issue occasionally as well.
I'm logged in, my Mrs selects her account from the Fast User Switch menu, the screen goes blue and there's no further response. The mouse still operates, but it looks like the keyboard loses the connection, as the caps lock key no longer lights when pressed.
I've left the machine sitting for a while, but it doesn't come back and the only way to resolve it, is to power down and restart.

Window does not update when I add a tab or switch to another tab

when I add a new tab, the new tab appears but the screen doesn't change. The content under all the tabs is the same.
If I type in a url, my current page updates and when I choses another tab, the screen doesn't change. All tabs have the same content.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

If it does work in Firefox Safe-mode then disable all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.

CS5 Hangs When Minimizing or Switching to Another App

If I minimize Premiere or switch to another app (or even if I use the encoder queue, which opens another window and takes the focus off the Premiere app and puts it on the encoder app), Premiere hangs. First it has the Windows 7 "working" circle, then if you click anywhere it turns the Premiere screen white and says Not Responding. The other windows on my second monitor (like Project, Audio Mixer, etc.) stay normal looking until you click on them, then they become white as well.
There's a ton of disk activity when this happens.
Not sure, but it could be related to something else I'm seeing: Premiere tries to rebuild peak files and reloads all MXF (P2) media each time project loads, which takes forever. It's almost like it starts to do it again in the background when the app loses focus. I've tried all the remedies I could find in the forums to fix the rebuilding of peak files, no luck.
Note that I've made some smaller test projects, and they don't seem as affected - still slow when switching back, but don't completely hang.
This is on a large, 1-hour broadcast project with tons of source clips. I'm trying to export 9 segments for the broadcast master, which has become excruciatingly painful to do...first I have to load the project, then wait 10 minutes for the 3,500 clips to load, then export the segment (which immediately hangs Premiere once the Encoder window takes over). Am having to do that for each segment...you get the picture.
I saw another post from a guy saying he gets degraded playback performance when switching back to Premiere after going to another app...perhaps related? Perhaps not. Dunno.

I'm seeing similar switching issues on large projects - happened in CS4 as well though.
This is with around 2000-3000 file references to load.
Mine takes about 20-30 seconds to switch (IIRC). Frustratingly it also happens no matter what is switched to - e.g. if a system popup appears, switching back to Premiere has the same delay. looks like Premiere is re-reading all of the footage files as my RAID5 array is hammered each time.
I was hoping that in the switch to CS5 and 64 bit, this would go away - but that's not so.
Wouldn't look so terminal if PPro at least put up a dialogue box rather than allowing Windows to grey out the window as if the app has crashed (which we know isn't the case). Windows is quick to show an app not responding though.
Anyone else also seeing this on larger projects with lots of files?

In Firefox for Android 27.0, if you play video in one tab and while it's playing you switch to another tab, the video gets paused. I want the video to continue to play while I'm viewing another tab (so I can at least hear its sound!).

Currently Firefox for Android does this by default with embedded players. Some sites go automatically to full screen too which may be what you are running into. Try it.

Firefox turns off fullscreen mode after switching to another programme or desktop.

When i alt-tab or just switch to another programme or desktop from firefox in full screen, the full screen mode is turned off.

I also ran across another work around today:
It looks like there was an about:config entry that was created, but is no longer in the current build. It may be possible to create a new entry and add it back:
