Autoscale small (powerpoint-imported) presentation to a larger screen?

I wished to demo KN to some PC colleagues at work, and just imported a very trivial powerpoint file into Keynote.
I can see everything comes OK but whenever I ask Keynote to just run the show, it presents it in a very small rectangle on my large 17' screen. (the surrounding zone is black)
Needless to say, when I use powerpoint the same presentation auto-scales niftily to use all screen surface available
I didn't dare show this to anyone, because I can already hear the laughs: How can I get the same "auto-scaling" effect that they have on powerpoint?
(also: is the issue due to the powerpoint import, or is it general to Keynote?)
TIA!

Thanks Tulse for such a quick answer -I'm a bit ashamed now

  • Best compression for large screen presentation?

I've made a 4 minute movie which is going to be played through a powerbook during a keynote presentation onto a large screen. Any ideas what sort of compression is best for this purpose?

Sorenson, MPEG4, and H.264 are each meant for desktop playback.
Historically, Sorenson is the oldest in this group and H.264 is the newest. Predating Sorenson is Cinepak. Back in the day of QuickTime 2.5, Cinepak was the codec of choice for desktop playback. That, or you would go with a third party hardware based codec like Radius VideoVision or Targa2000.
If your presentation system will have QuickTime 7 installed, then H.264 is probably your best bet. Have you had a chance to download and play any of the HD trailers from the Apple QuickTime Movie Trailers? You can see H.264 in action as well as get more information about the settings used in those files.
H.264 takes a good amount of time to compress, so you'll want to be sure to allow for that when transcoding your video. It offers high image quality with low storage requirements and low bandwidth requirements when the right settings are applied.
What resolution is your source video? In general, try to match your desktop resolution as closely as possible to your video resolution. Also, if viewing the content on a CRT, the refresh rate should be set to a multiple of the frame rate. For example, a refresh rate of 60Hz would be ideal for viewing NTSC material and 50Hz would be ideal for viewing PAL material. Although, from what you've described, you probably won't be concerned with refresh rate, but rather response time (an LCD issue related to the display itself, not display settings).
If your source video is interlaced, be sure to deinterlace it prior to transcoding your movie.
If your source video is DV-NTSC or DV-PAL, be sure to conform the footage for square pixel viewing.
Also, remember that NTSC and PAL are both overscan formats. That is, the outer portion of the frame (typically as little as 4%, but as much as 10%) is scanned over the bevel of the TV frame (in other words, the outer edges are cropped). Depending on your source video, you may want to or need to crop for overscan.

i have an exel file i am trying to work on and open but i keep getting this instead"the document cant be imported bcecause its too large"....how can i fix this its an urgent matter and i have to hand in a report

    Hi Yarash,
I suspect the message is telling you that the Excel spreadsheet has more rows than Numbers's maximum pertable, 65,536.
Try splitting the Excel file into two smaller spreadsheets.

5s will only let me email my small 37 KB photos. the 3 larger sizes wont send

That's not an issue with your iphone, but a limitation from your email provider on the size of the documents you can send and receive.  This will hold true for the recipient email account you're trying to send to.

  • Help opening powerpoint 2002 presentation on a mac

    Hi,
I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but here goes. I have a powerpoint 2002 presentation that I've made on a windows xp pc, and I'm trying to open it on my Mac OS X 10.4.10. The ppt file appears as a white paper for the icon on my desktop. Keynote is the default application that was assigned to open the ppt file. However, my keynote is experiencing problems and is unable to open. If my keynote were working, would it be able to open? If not, where can I find viewers that would enable me to? I need to find out because I am giving a presentation in class on my teacher's computer, which is similar to the one I'm using now.

Keynote should be able to open MS Powerpoint presentations however it does not always display as intended when it is first created in powerpoint. It will always open the presentation however if there are issues then they are mostly related to formatting in my experience. Keynote, no matter what Apple states, is not 100% compatible with presentations created in MS Powerpoint. You state that you are not able to open the presentation at all.... can you open any other presentations created by Powerpoint under Keynote?
There is a Mac viewer availabel from Microsoft site however it is a Powerpoint 98 viewer and may not work with files created by Powerpoint 2002. You may want to try it by downloading from [HERE|http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e25cb1e5-209c-4a58-b28 3-23e84b616477&DisplayLang=en].
Let me know how this goes.

  • We just updated to Windows 7. Question: tool bar is very small, how do I make tools larger?

We just updated to Windows 7. Question: tool bar is very small, how do I make tools larger? Top bar is also very small, about a 4pt size.

Did you also get a monitor with higher resolution?
The UI size is not adjustable in ID (more's the pity), and I can't think of anything about the OS that would affect the size. Monitor size and resolution, on the other hand, will definitely affect how big ID's UI elements are displayed.

  • Mashing small clips together to make one large one!?

i figured ou thow to do this once, but now i cant remember.
i need to mesh a bunch of small clips together to make a large one so i can do a longer transition.

.. if You had some short clips and applyed a text on them.
And the text just using some spaces (no letters) then it would merge the
    clips together...
never tried (.. never needed.. ), but a clever one!!

  • PowerPoint importing and editing

I'm fairly new to captivate with very little training.  What I know, which is very basic, I have figured out by trial and error. The agency I work for just upgraded to Captivate 8.  I would like to know more about developing in PowerPoint, importing the PowerPoint to captivate and then editing the material.  I have figured out how to import individual PowerPoint slides, but not a complete course.  Do you have any suggestions on where I could find this information?  Another question I have is, how do you account for this size difference when developing something in PowerPoint and importing it to an 800 X 600 captivate?  As an agency, we set a standard to us an 800 X 600 captivate size.

Importing PPT-slides is not a good idea, if you want to edit the slides, because each PPT-slide will be converted into sort of a movie slide. The different objects will not be editable. If you want a PPT plug-in there are other and better solutions. Captivate is a real eLearning tool. Use the assets and create the CP-file from scratch if you want to edit. And it is not even possible to use PPT-slides for responsive projects in Captivate.
To create a CP-file from a PPT, use File, New Project, Project from MS Powerpoint. The CP-file will choose a resolution that is the same as the PPT-file. One of the crazy ideas of PPT is that slide size is in print units (in or cm) instead of the more logical screen units (px).

  • Automating MS Powerpoint slide presentation

    Hi,
I have an assignment to automate MS Powerpoint slide presentation on the web. I have to allow user to navigate the Powerpoint slides on the web. How do I get things start?

    Hi,
Is it that, you want the user to explain something and in the meantime the mouse should click the "next" button automatically and do some other events at some particular parts of u'r presentation.
If this is the case, u can use, java.awt.Robot class.
Please let me know it u have any doubts or I have got u'r question wrong.

  • How can I force Firefox to open a new window (tab) a certain size. I need a smaller box but it always opens full screen.

I get tired of having to click on the upper right box every time I need the smaller window, which is VERY frequently. I teach college online and need to see only a portion of the large screen as the rest may distract me while grading. This COULD prove unfair to my students.

Don't know if this is the answer you want, but it gives you an idea of what you can do.
    * Using the window.open method<br>http://www.javascript-coder.com/window-popup/javascript-window-open.phtml
You can resize an existing window with a bookmarklet, but you would have to be able to initiate the bookmarklet from the window.
    * javascript:self.resizeTo(642,364);self.moveTo(0,0);
    * http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/kws.htm look for "resize -" in the k.html file listed.

That means the computer cannot find the operating system. Either the hard drive has a physical problem or is corrupted. Do you have the computer's original system CDs or DVDs? You may need them to get through this.
Notebook computer drives are not as robust as the larger drives used in desktop computers. If your G4 can run OS9, it's pretty old, and the drive may have simply worn out.

  • Nikon D3  NEF thumbnails won't expand into larger screen on clicking

Help Please. When viewing the raw 14 bit files from the new Nikon D3 in Bridge we see broad black bands down two opposite sides of the thumbnails and the thumbnail will not expand to larger screen view when clicked on; they stay at thumbnail size in the larger preview window. Jpegs created at the same time have no such problem. Funny thing is that sometimes these raw files will not have the large black border bands when Bridge starts afresh but new files imported into Bridge have the problem. Older files that had the problem often are self corrected but no amount of idle time in Bridge seems to assure the correction process to work out or catch up. Very hit and miss, mostly miss. >>>Maybe not surprisingly, if an NEF file is opened in ACR and processed and closed it then works properly in Bridge afterwards.<<<
A few technical notes: Bridge v2.1.1.9, ACR 4.3.1 and CS3 v10.0.1 Images are imported through Nikon Camera Control Pro 2, v2.0.0 or Nikon Transfer v1.0 or card readers; makes no difference. When opened in CS3/ACR all files are normal.
Any thoughts on how to make these files work normally in Bridge without going into ACR first?
    Thanks for your help.
