AutoSleep stopped working last week

I usually play podcasts before I go to sleep.
When the program is over my powerbook goes to sleep after 5 minutes
of inactivity.
Last week however, I found out that it didn't go to sleep, but drained the battery.
I've tired all the prescribed soultions from resetting the PMU to deleting .plist flies.
Nothing has worked so far.
Has anyone soved this problem?

I failed to mention that the sound does play on the videos that are not playing.

My Photos app stopped working last week. It opens to the welcome splash screen, but when i select get started, the wheel starts spinning and that's all that happens. When I try to close it, it says it's creating a library, but never ends.

I have been using Photos since the update. I had no problems until last week when it stopped working. Despite the fact that I've been using it, it opens to the welcome splash screen with the "Get Started" button. OK, so apparently you have the MBW connected via the software equivelent of a crossover cable- ethernet frames but no routing. Not sure what negative impact that has or doesn;t have. Certainly its not how the drive was intended to work - it would be far easier to just have a USB connection for that.
WD software in general has a very bad history. Note that some drives have been lost entirely due to incompatability with Mavericks - read the tips section here for mroe details, btu i would NOT use it.
I cant help you with WD software. But the first task is to access the drive and make sure you can communicate with it. I would go to the main drive to do that. From there you should be abke to remove the partition for the backup, and begin over with something less troublesome - such as Carbon Copy Cloner, Time MAchine ( i dont use it and did nt much like it) or , my preferred method, good old unix rsync.
In any event, your prpoblem is one of authorization. So first see if the drive is responding in general ( try to access it the normal way), then move to that particular volume.

Cut and paste in all applications stopped working last week

I'm running a 2.8GHz i7 and OS 10.9.2.
Last week I noticed I could not copy and paste any text from any application - word, safari, firefox, excel, mail, notes. Nothing!
I've got three accounts on my machine: mine, kids, and Guest. Copy and paste works on those accounts, but not mine.
Any tips or suggestions will be most welcome; thanks!

Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account and see if it works there. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

I was using my iPhone 5 and the screen randomly went black. I can still hear incoming calls but the screen stays black and unresponsive and stays black. My lock button stopped working last week so I can't restart the phone. What can I do to solve this?

I had an appointment this morning with Apple to try and solve the problem with my lock button ranomly not working anymore and a few hours before my appointment with the Apple store i was using my phone and my screen randomly went black and stopped working. And the p.roblem now i cant use it. I tried restarting the phone but I can't restart it due to my lock button not working so i need help with a solution on what i can do. I missed my appointment today because i could no longer use my phone and i'm now stuck using my laptop. I did also try connecting it to my MacBook but the screen was still unresponsive and black. I rescheduled my appointment to Monday to see what is wrong with my button and screen but in the meanwhile i would like to know if there is anything i can do or if i would just have to wait until monday and take it in to Apple. Any help would be really appreciated as i am phonelss for now until i take it in to Apple in a few days. Thanks.

Based on your description, the mail stopped working after changing the password of the farm administrator.
After changing the farm administrator, the password of the application pool in the IIS will not change automatically.
In your code, the SendMail function will call Context.Current.Web, so I suggest you check if you have reset the password for the application pools in the IIS.

Lg vs920 stopped working last week

So far on my account I have been sent three phones that did not work, been forced to pay for a battery that I did not need, received another battery that I did not need and did not order.
I still have a phone that is under warranty that does not work through no fault of mine. will not turn on and neither will any of your other phones that you sent and have been returned. The new battery I had to pay for also does not make any difference on all four phone ( the one that already did not work and the three you have sent me that have been returned).
I want a replacement phone. Now I am paying for a service that is only working cuz someone lent me a phone or I would have been without phone service. @

It sounds like your phone is not successfully booting even though you have reset the device. I would next recommend attempting a backup and restore to iTunes with this article:

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data (Clear Cache on iOS 4) and also Clear History
If you stillc an't access Facebook via Safari then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
There are a number of Facebook apps (including an 'official' one), which might be better than accessing it via Safari

BT Infinity - stopped working last night

My BT Infinity connection stopped working last night and BT Home hub is showing green , sometimes flashing green or solid green. Recently I have a a cross line on the phone line intermittently and several small outages of Infinity connection too. Can you help please?
Has the BT Home Hub 4 packed up? Will BT replace this or am I responsible for its cost & replacement? Openreach are coming in a few days.
Can anyone help please.

Apple intentional, use a powered USB hub instead.

I read the other post. I wasn't sure from your post if you were able to reset the preference files or not. (I wasn't sure if you ever got the reset dialog.)
Reset application preference files: When you click the Editor launch icon, press and hold in the ctrl + shift + alt keys. Do not release these three keys. A dialog box will come up saying something like "Delete Photoshop Elements settings file?" After this dialog comes up, you can release those three keys. Click OK to accept.
See if that works.
If the above, did not work...
Did you just install a program right before this started happening? If so, that program might be "stealing" the alt key. See this article:

I tried flushing the phone to its original settings and that didn't solve the problem either... so I decided to call the Apple support.... and I received this, somewhat incredible, response.
First they've told me that my hardware warranty expired 39 days ago, and that I lost the right to have free help from their hotline 90 days after buying the iPhone. Having said so the asked me to explain the problem, which I did, and then operator looked into the support database to find a possible solution.
Once she'd found what she tought would solve my problem, she offered two possible options:
Give back Apple the phone for repairing at the cost of 210 Euros - basically no repairing would be done, just replacing the phone by a new one: I said no to this for two reasons. First, I don't want to pay half the price of the phone for something that might be solved via a firmware update (the hardware works!) and second, because I also had a hardware problem with my old iPhone that was replaced and later on I found out that it had been re-sold by Apple to a third person WITHOUT FLUSHING MY PERSONAL DATA! Living proof of it is that this person managed to contact me on my personal email address to ask me on how to configure her email account!
Try to apply the steps she had just found in the support database but, and this part is just hilarious.... she wouldn't give me that info for free! I had to pay 35 Euro to have it as I had lost my free-on-the-phone help privileges....***!
I don't know why, but I expected a bit more from Apple... been a Mac user (two mac book pro's, 3 iphones, 1 ipod...) for a long time now and was about to buy a Mac Mini in the next days... I guess Samsung just found themselves a new customer.

Style cover stopped working a week ago - 'unfortunately, style cover has stopped working'

Hi, I got my xperia z3 about a month ago and style cover justa few days after. It was working great at first but since last week it has stopped, it no longer minimses the screen when I shut the lid. The phone must regocnise style cover is there however as when my phone is in stand by and I pen the screen, it goes to the lock screen. However, when in a phone call and I close the lid, the smart cover creates a mini window but doesn't do this under any other circumstance. I am not in stamina mode, my antivirus is turned off, I have linked the cover to the phone (as it was working of course). And when I turn style cover off, and back on, the first time I try to use it I get the 'unfortunately, style cover has stopped working' message.

Do you have a taskiller? nfc on? any other antivirus or battery apps?
