AutoSubmit property in business components

Hello,
I see that AutoSubmit property can be set in business components. For a VO attribute (or EO) I ca set autoSubmit = true.
But, this autoSubmit property is not automatically set in UI components generated when drag'n'dropping the same VO in a fragment. I have to change inputs autoSubmit property manually.
So, I don't understand. What for is the autoSubmit property in business components?

Yes, It is used primarily for updating 2nd UI Component based on the 1st one's value. Suppose you have two different lists of Countries and States. You should display states of the selected country in the first list.
Here you can set AutoSubmit=true for the Country list and add States list's partial refresh to the Countries list.
In this way, when value in the Country list changes, the States list will get an updated. Obviously, you will have to write the method to pick the correct list of states.

Rajan

  • Nested Tables and Business Components

    Hi,
    We have developed a paradigm whereby all of our tables are of object types. In one example we haveL
    create type addresslines_nt as table of varchar2(30);
    We have another type:
    create type address_ot as object(
    lines addresslines_nt );
    We create the TABLE off of address_ot with a nested table (store as) off LINES.
    CREATE TABLE ADDRESS of ADDRESS_OT ....
    In JDeveloper we want to create BUSINESS COMPONENTS and can not find a way for it (JDeveloper) to create a matching component for ADDRESS (the table) without it dropping a reference to the LINES property?
    HELP!
    Dave

    BC4J version 3.2.x only supports VARRAY collection types.
    BC4J 9i (which will come with JDeveloper 9i when it's release) supports both VARRAY and TABLE collection types.

  • Business Components and OAS 4.0.8

    I have several projects running in JDeveloper - one of them being a BC4J project, the others a mix of servlets and classes that make use of the BC4J project to interact with the database.
    I have successfully managed to deploy the Business components application to OAS, but I get stuck after that.
    How do I make use of this deployed BC4J application through a JServlet application?

    Hi,
    A colleague of mine mentioned that one may encounter problems deploying to OAS 4.0.8.
    I understand that OAS 4.0.8.1 has major bug fixes and may make deployment substantially easier. Having not attempted either, I cannot verify his statement.
    Hope you have success!

Please let me know if its possible or not and any document detailing how to do it. To be more specific:
    1) In the properties dialog for the Application Module, in the remote tab, there are options for Oracle8i EJB, CORBA and VISIBROKER, but nothing for OAS. So what to choose there?
    2) If I run Deployment Wizard on the Business Components project with OAS option (selecting nothing in the Remote Tab), it fails (says nothing to parse in the source JAR file)
    3) In the property pallette of the InfoProducer Session object, what to give in the remote proerties for OAS EJB.
    4) It seems that no manual code change is required if they are deployed in Oracle8i or VisiBroker whether they are deployed in Local or EJB or CORBA(the deployment wizard takes care of it). Is it same for OAS EJB deployment also?
    Please help. It's Very Very urgent.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

  • Business components Clob

    I tried to modify a query for a View Object. The modification is just adding a property in the SELECT. I tried to modify the query manually or by using the Query Builder. I have an exception that I don't understand:
    Business Components: Java type java.sql.Clob referenced by TopDescrEn is currently not supported.
    and the associated SDO schema file is now empty.
    I checked in the database and the data type is Clob.

    The Standard Entity Beans are a component (JavaBean) that can be a small piece of the ultimate application needs.
    Oracle Business Component for Java is a complete framework that has numerous features that make developing COMPLETE applications easy.
    Please download the white paper on Business Components, try your hand at creating an application with Business Components (using the wizards) and you will see that Business Components for Java is much more than a simple (/complex) reusable component, it is a complete framework which maked developing N-tier applications almost trivial by allowing you to focus on writing your business logic while the framework takes care of all the application infrastructure and the necessary plumbing.

  • Business Components for Java - Pooling

    I need a little bit of clarification regarding business components for java...
    I would like to create a jdbc connection pool for my application to avoid the overhead of creating new jdbc connections each time a client connects.
    Since I'm using BC4J, and the jdbc connect is contained within the bc4j components, I connect to the database using:
    session.getTransaction().connect("jdbc:oracle:thin:test/test@ccmain:1521:clincare");
    Does the BC4J architecture do any connection pooling itself? My plan was to create a pool of ApplicationModules that could be easily and quickly accessed, but if bc4j already pools the jdbc connections internally, then I'm not sure I would gain any performance with my ApplicationModule pool.
    Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

    <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Steve Muench ([email protected]):
    [b]Does the BC4J architecture do any connection pooling itself?
    Strictly speaking, in JDev/BC4J 3.1, the answer is no. BC4J 3.1 offer Application Module pooling and since AM's are paired one to one with connections, using a pool of AM's is pretty much the same as using a pool of connections.
    However, in JDev 3.2 we've dramatically improved the features for use in a high-throughput Web application scenario and in doing so have implemented a more flexible application module pooling mechanism as well as a connection pooling mechanism that work together to allow developers to exploit application module instances to retain pending state without "pinning" that pending state to a particular AM instance and without "pinning" a dedicated database connection.
    Early customer previews we've done on our 3.2 features have been receving rave reviews, so we'll excited to get it out to a wider audience this Fall.
    For now, you're best bet is to exploit the application module pooling mechanism.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
    Is JDev 3.2 going to include a support for registering application module not from the property file, but using specific database username and password for the underlying connection ?

  • Tutorial - Building Business Components

    I am using Oracle JDeveloper3.0 (Build 532) on Windows NT. I am trying to work through the above tutorial, but when I try to invoke the Business Components or New Entity Objects, nothing happens.
    Have not installed some components correctly ? Do I need to make any changes to the Gallery.INI file ?
    Thank you very much for your response..
    Sudarshan

    Sudarshan,
    It should never be necessary for you to edit your gallery.ini to get default installation behavior.
    Are you sure you sucessfully installed JDeveloper?
    My JDeveloper 3.1 Gallery.ini looks as pasted below. Yours should look similar.
    You may have to re-install.
    I hope this helps,

  • Does ADF Business Components  work well with tables without primary Key?

    We have tables using unique index without primary key. Can ADF Business Components relate business objects based on the unique index columns of the tables?

    Hi,
    Regarding my question about the XML syntax for custom properties:
    It turned out to be another problem in the Entity object definition that caused the JDeveloper error. Other entities let me add the custom property without problems. However should anybody ever need that XML syntax, here's how you add a custom property to an entity definition in the XML code:
      <Attribute
        Name="Id"
        IsNotNull="true"
        Precision="10"
        Scale="0"
        ColumnName="ID"
        Type="oracle.jbo.domain.Number"
        ColumnType="NUMBER"
        SQLType="NUMERIC"
        TableName="TABLE"
        PrimaryKey="true">

          <Attr Name="_DisplaySize" Value="22"/>

  • JDeveloper 9.0.5 and creating JSP for Business Components (BC4J)

    Hi,
    We've been creating Web applications from our BC4J projects quite happily using JDeveloper version 9.0.3 using the option on JSP for Business Components under the Web Tier Category. Recently we've been looking at version 9.0.5 and this option doesn't exist anymore. Does anyone know what the equivalent in 9.0.5 is to achieve this automated production of web applications.
    Regards

    Catherine,
    This wizard no longer exists in JDeveloper 10g.
    We found that in the overwhelming majoring of cases, developers would use the wizard to generate a number of pages and then "hit a wall" because they didn't understand how to evolve the applications to do something more close to what they really wanted. The results produced didn't lend themselves well to iterative modification, which in the end is what the bulk of application development ends up being.
    In JDeveloper 10g, the developer builds up pages and ties them together in a less fully-automated way, but in a way that means encourages the interative and consistent "RAD" approach using visual editor, property palette, code editor, and structure window.

  • Can not see the menu of New Business Components Package in jdeveloper

    I am just follow the developer guide.
    and when I create the Business Components Package, the guide said that
    ========================================
    In the JDeveloper Navigator, select the OA Project where you want to create your package.
    From the main menu, choose File > New to open the New Object Gallery.
    In the Categories tree, expand the Business Tier node, and select Business Components (BC4J).
    In the Items list, select Business Components Package to open the Business Components Package Wizard. You can also right-click on the OA Project and select New Business Components Package to navigate directly to the Business Components Package Wizard.
    =====================================
    In fact I can not see the menu about Business Components (BC4J) in the File/new/buisness tier/Business Components (BC4J).
    I can only see the File/new/buisness tier/ADF Business Components.
    And can not find the "Business Components Package" under ADF Business Components either.
    I am using the JDev Extension for OA (p5856648_R12_GENERIC.zip) and EBS 12.0.0.

    can anyone help?

  • Associations and Links does not load when creating Business Components

    Hi guys,
    I am having a problem when I create my business components from table. Let's say that I start a new fusion web application. I then create my business components, enter the proper database connection settings. After everything is done, I am only getting my entities and my views, without any associations and links.
    The thing is that it worked the first time. Everything loaded as it should. I then asked a collegue of mine to try on his computer. Surprise, everything loads perfectly just like it did the first time I did it.
    I then tried on one of my linux virtual machine, via the same PC that I am having the problem. Again, the same problem, even if this is another JDeveloper instance (vm).
    I have read the thread 2187263 that mentions to re-create the DB connection. Again, it is not working.
    Associations and View Links missing in JDeveloper 11.1.1.3 and 11.1.1.4
    I saw this under the "Messages - Log" tab in JDeveloper :
    Aug 7, 2012 11:09:06 AM oracle.jdbc.driver
    SEVERE: 3F794B56 Throwing SQLException: 3
    Aug 7, 2012 11:09:06 AM oracle.jdbc.driver
    SEVERE: 6C9DD8BE Throwing SQLException: ORA-00936: missing expression
    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.
    Any help would do, since I do not want to uninstall JDeveloper and reinstall it again and again...

    Yes. In SQL Developer, when I click "Modify" on one of my tables, and then on "Foreign Keys", I can see them all.
    Like I said, it worked on a different workstation, and it worked before on my computer.

  • How to use an existing data model using Business Components in OEPE

    I am a beginner in ADF. I am working on a project with an existing data model that uses Business Components (EO, VO and AM). I know that OEPE does not handle the creation of BC, so if I want to modify them, I will have to do that in JDev. That's fine.
    OEPE can create pages with drag and drop like in JDev. In my eclipse ADF projects, I would like to use the existing BC, to be able to use the bindings with ADF Faces. So far I have nothing in the Data Controls tab.
    How to import the BC into the Data Controls tab?
    JDev 11.1.1.6
    WLS 10.3.6
    Eclipse Kepler

    We currently don't support DataControls based on the ADF BC technology. We will consider such support if there is a strong interest in that use case.
    Independent of the IDE's you use, there are ways to expose services based on ADF BC that can then be consumed by the view layer. A Google search will point you to some of the approaches.
    HTH. Thanks for your interest in OEPE.

  • Business Components not available while using Model Configurator in ID

    Hi,
    In ESR:
    I created a ProcessIntegrationScenario PIS_myScenario (and completed with sender and receiver components, actions etc)
    In ID:
    I created and activated two BusinessComponents: BC_A and BC_B
    I created a new Configuration Scenario: CS_Test, and selected Type of ES Repository Model:"Process Integration Scenario".
    and launched "Model Configurator".
    Now in the step "Assign Components" i see a tab "Assign Business System Components for A2A Configuration" , in that for "Communication Component" value, when i tried to select from the value list, it is only showing the Business Systems and not the Business Components BC_A and BC_B.
    By using the "Model Configurator" how can we create scenarios using the "Business Components" instead of "Business Systems".
    as i am trying the test scenarios, i want to use Business Components, i.e business services in earlier versions.
    I also opened the Business Components BC_A and BC_B and added the corresponding inbound and outbound service interfaces in the receiver and sender tabs.
    after that also, the Business Components are not visible for selecting from within Model configurator.
    let us know if its possible

    thanks abhishek for your reply.
    as mentioned in the reference link given by you, i edited the Process Integration Scenario in ESR, i ticked the checkbox "External Party with B2B Communication", and activated.
    In ID, in Model configurator, i can now see and select the Business Components BS_A and BS_B.
    but when i try to generate the configuration objects, it says: Not Configurable: Component view only contains external application components.
    so cannot proceed with Model configurator with Business components, in my scenario.
    seems i need to use only Business Systems.

  • How to create "Business Components Package" in the Jdeveloper ?

    Hi,
    I installed and set up "Patch 7523554 10G Jdeveloper With OA Extension ARU for R12 RUP6"
    I have ran out the test_fwktutorial.jsp and test_fwklabsolutions.jsp.
    All links work properly on these pages.
    I created HelloWorld page from "Oracle Application Framework Toolbox Tutorials".
    Its works properly too.
    Then I started to create "Search Page".
    I created "Business Component project" in the toolbox.jws.
    I was trying to perform step 2.1 "Create the BC4J Package for Client (UI) Objects".
    But I didn't find "Business Components Package" in the context menu.
    Could you give me advice how can I create package of this kind ?
    Thanks.

    I created "OA Workspace" and simultaneously with it created "Business Components Package" <yourname>.oracle.apps.ak.employee.
    After this it i necessary to creates one more "Business Components Package" <yourname>.oracle.apps.ak.schema.server
    I failed to create Package of this kind.
    In the "BC4J Tutorial" It seems to me I found similr actions.
    I suppose I may perform next step:

    Figure 6-4 http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/A97671_01/wtgbc4j.htm#BABJIIII
    But I failed to pass these steps.
    Could you tell me, please, how to do this?
