AutoSync: playlist changes not automatically copying to iPod?

Hi, I have my iPod 5G 30GB Video setup to autosync with my iTunes on Windows. Everything is up to latest version. The copying of songs and album art works great, but I notice that I am making changes to the ordering of songs in my playlists and those changes don't appear to be auto-syncing to the iPod. Is there some special setting I need to change? Currently I told it to auto-sync everything which is supposed to include the playlists I thought? Do I have to do manual sync to get my playlist changes onto the iPod?

Just for anybody else's info if you read this, it was only necessary to turn shuffle off on the iPod. Didn't have to check/uncheck any other checkbox. This was great! Thanks for the pointer!

  • Artwork does not *automatically* copy to iPod classic

We have 3 ipods in our hosuehold, one classic photo, one 3rd generation photo, and a nano from the latest generation.
    All are managed manually.
On the older 2, artwork does not automatically copy across from itunes to the ipod when songs are added. Instead, I have to select each song or album on the itunes library, manually copy the artwork, and then paste it into the iPod. while not crippling, it is certainly annoying.
The nano does not seem to have this problem.
ANybody else have this problem, and is there a way around it?
Of course I have "display artwork" enabled on all ipods, and the software is up to date, on all ipods and on the mac.

I don't manually manage, so my apologies for not being really familiar with it. But my question is, have you noticed that the addition of artwork depends on if the artwork was there from the beginning or not?
In other words, I wonder if when put in a new CD, tracklisting is looked up, you import and artwork gets automatically added. You then drag and drop those tracks to your iPods. Does the artwork show up on the iPod or do you have to do a secondary addition of the artwork?
Versus, if you already had the songs on your iPod, then LATER added artwork to the tracks in itunes, I could see where unless you resynced the songs to the manually managed iPods, that the artwork wouldn't go onto the iPod automatically and would have to be manually added.
I mention this because your Nano is the newest one and I am wondering if the issue is that you have stuff on the older iPods from back before artwork was added to your library. You are now adding artwork, but the songs on the old iPods still have older versions without artwork. The Nano, being brand new, you are probably adding tracks that have since had artwork added and so it maybe seems like it is being automatically added to that iPod and not the others when maybe you just need to re-sync the same tracks to the others?
Again, just some random streams of thought and guessing.
    Cheers,
    Patrick

  • My playlist does not appear after syncing ipod

My playlist is not syncing to my ipod...what should i do?

Having the same problem.  I have an 8gig Nano touch my wife just bought.  When I add a playlist it doesn't show up after sync. I have it set up to manual sync, so I should be able to drag & drop like all my other devices.
It shows that it is on there when connected to the MacBook Pro, but does not show up on the iPod after eject.

  • Songs not all copying to iPod

I had too many songs for my iPod Mini, so initially it created a playlist for these. Now, however, after restoring the software a couple of times (was transferring data from PC) iTunes refuses to make a playlist of songs to copy.
Furthermore, I have deleted a great deal from my library and now there IS enough space, but my iPod stubbornly lists all but seven of them, no matter how many I delete.
I've restored the iPod again just now, and then deleted my entire library and restored my iPod, then replaced all the songs, and it gives me the same error, about not being able to copy the songs. Does anyone have any ideas?

It might of loaded the whole iTunes database but not all songs, so all the other times you sync, iTunes thinks iPod already has the songs maybe.
Try running the latest updater on it and restoring it. Restore wipes the iPod clean and then u use iTUnes to load it back up. the latest iPod updater is version 03-23-2006 and can be downloaded here http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/

  • ITunes does not automatically sync to iPod

When I connect my iPhone4 or iPod Classic to my mac, they will not automatically open iTunes and sync.  The iPhone automatically syncs with iPhoto only.  I have tried resetting my ipod and iphone and reselecting automatically sync iphone from the iphone screen in iTunes.  I have also repaired permissions with no change.
What else have I missed to make these things auto-sync again.

    Hello pib1617,
iTunes Match can be enabled on your iPod Touch via Settings -> iTunes & App Store.
Turn on iTunes Match. Go to Settings > iTunes & App Store. Sign in if you haven’t already.

  • Smart Playlist is not syncing onto my iPod

I have a smart playlist of recently added songs on my iTunes. I just got the 3.0 software for my iPod touch and now my recently added playlist is not showing up as the songs that are on my iTunes. The songs that are supposed to be in that playlist are correct on the iTunes, but are totally different songs on my iPod after I've synced it. I've tried restarting my iPod, restoring it and I've made a new smart playlist for my new songs and it still comes up as the same set of different songs as before on my iPod. How can I fix this playlist to have to right songs in it on my iPod?

im in the same situation.. i recently switched over to the 3.1.3 version and what a mistake that was. i wish we could go back because half the things dont work anymore. like the smart playlists... it says i have them correct on both itunes and my ipod but i check it ON my ipod and its random songs...

  • The smart playlists do not come on my ipod name, as I can fix it?

Hello, when I create a smart playlist file and synchronize with my ipod, on ipod not go with the name that I put on itunes.
could someone give me the solution?

    Sounds like
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem. A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
    Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

  • Itunes store songs not automatically transfered to ipod

Does anyone know why my 5th generation ipod does not automatically transfer songs purchased in itunes to the ipod?

make sure your computer is authorized to play the music.
Click on advanced at the top of itunes and choose authorize computer.
    Then sync your ipod again.

  • HT1399 my playlists will not synch onto my ipod

I'm probably missing the forest for the trees somewhere, but can't figure out why Itunes 9 will not synch my playlists from my itunes to my ipod 4thgen.

The link also has instruction for redownloading on an iOS device. It is under the heading:

  • Changing song order in playlists - changes no longer show on ipod until sync

I organize my playlists according to how I rate songs; songs with higher ratings go at the top. When the last operating system came out there was a glitch where on the iPod (but not in iTunes) songs were ordered inversely, ie. songs with higher ratings were stuck at the bottom. This was annoying, but one bonus was that when rating songs on the iPod, the position of the song would change automatically. For example, if Song A had two stars but I changed the rating to 3 stars on my iPod, Song A would immediately move and join the other 3-star songs. The changes would then be tranferred to iTunes upon syncing my device.
Now, after having updated iTunes, the playlists are in the correct hierarchical order, but I can't seem to immediately change the order of songs in playlists according to their ratings. Instead, I have to rate the song and sync my device for it to change in iTunes, and then sync my iPod again to have the playlist updated on the iPod itself. This isn't a big deal, but I enjoyed the ability to instantaneously alter my playlists based on the song ratings. Am I missing something? Any advice?

  • Podcasts/Playlists do not appear after synching iPod in iTunes 8.1.0.52

Since being upgraded to the above-referenced version of iTunes, I have been unable to successfully synchronize my main iPod (160 GB). In particular, the folders for my various playlists appear in the iPod, but there are no songs. (Other than the one for Xmas songs, all are checked to synch with the iPod in iTunes.) The songs are all on the iPod (or at least as far as I can tell--I have in excess of 13,000 songs on it).
Nothing appears in the Podcast folder (I have in excess of 100 podcasts that should be in this folder). I found the individual podcasts filed as songs, but again, no podcasts in the folder.
In addition, as is apparently the case with many people who have been upgraded to iTunes 8.1, the program crashes frequently.
None of these problems occurred with the prior iTunes version.
Thank you for your attention to this issue.

Hi,iTunes doesn't change tags like that.It can't update anything automatically, and the only time it goes online to get track info is when you rip a CD.
WMP does get track info from the internet. The setting for that is in 3 places in WMP. The player, privacy, and the library tabs.

  • Playlists do not show up on iPod Nano 4th G

I've selected a few playlists to sync to my ipod (nano 4G). The songs sync and show up on the ipod alphabetically by title, artist, album, etc., but there are no itunes playlists listed. Is it not possible to play music "by playlist" the way i could with my previous ipods?

I don't know what had happened and why - but I got this to work by completely deleting the files out of itunes and reimporting from my external hard drive backup and re-creating the playlists.... not the most ideal solution, but it works.

  • The podcast artwork does not automatically copy to new episodes

I have added some artwork manually to my podcasts in Itunes (and have set it to apply to all episodes of any individual podcast).
Now, whenever a new episode is downloaded (which does not have any artwork at all), I expect the existing artwork to be used for it automatically.
But it does not! Is there a way to get this done in Itunes?
    Thanks a lot
    Luc

The latest build has broken the ability to copy artwork from the lower left artwork panel or switch between art if you have multiple items attached to a particular file. The CreateFolderArt script should still work to create the seed images if run with a selection of files that have art.

  • ITunes downloaded tv shows not automatically syncing to iPod?

I just got the iPod Classic and downloaded 2 episodes from iTunes. I can play them on my computer but when I try to sync everything to my iPod, the tv shows don't show up on my iPod. The only way I have been able to get them on my iPod is by selecting "manually manage music and videos". When I do this I can view the shows just fine. However, I don't want to have to keep manually loading every single item onto my iPod as I get them onto iTunes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I already tried right mouse clicking on tv shows under my ipod in the devices section and clicking sync and it said my ipod was synchronizing but the shows still did not show up on my ipod. Is this what you mean or are you referring to something else? I can't tell.
