AUX cable for car CD d

Hey guys. I just got my Zen Touch 40 Gig for xmas today and started doing research being that this is my first mp3 player. A lot of my research included, of course: accessories. I figured there wouldnt be a lot because the ipod is most popular...no big deal though, I wanted it to play music and that's what it does. Anyways, my question is about AUX cables. I'm not an electronics kindof dude... I'm pretty clueless. I have no idea where to get cables or what would fit on both my AUX input and my mp3 player.
My CD deck has a AUX input in the front...

What would work and where would I get this kindof cable? Thanks

Radio Shack or Circuit City should have them. You want a /8" stereo Walkman-style male jack on both ends.

  • External Aux Cable for Car

I have an aux in cable from the head unit in my car, but when i plug it into the headphone socket on my iPhone 3G, the audio stops and starts all the time.
I noticed the plug for headphone has 3 bands, and normal 3.5mm has 2. So i suspect the mic is the difference. I guess this causes a problem when using a standard 3.5mm socket for audio out to a car?

I had the exact same issue w/ my iPhone 3G. I made an appointment at the Apple Store and the mac tech (or "Genius") exchanged my iPhone. To date, I never had this problem w/ the replacement. It will, however, pause or play if I'm actively plugging in or removing the cable from the iPhone itself--that part is normal.

I use mine w/ a ghetto-fabulous cassette adapter in my car, and it works fine. It's not the adapter, but the iPhone itself.

  • Won't recognise AUX cable in car

I used to use my Galaxy S3 in the car fairly frequently using a 3.5mm cable and playing it via the AUX channel on the radio.  I never had any problems with this.
I've tried this using my Z1 Compact and it doesn't recognise the cable, let alone play anything  Headphones are fine.  I also have a little portable speaker that works too but the sound quality isn't great.
Any ideas?  I really miss listening to my music in the car!! Help!

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
I suggest that you first of all try what you mentioned yourself, another AUX cable to see if you experience the same behavior.
Let us know how it works out.

  • Aux cable for Mini Cooper too short for Iphone.

Just purchased a Mini Cooper and the AUX cord that connects the Iphone to the Bluetooth is too short to reach my vehicial mount.  I need a longer cord or an extention.  Anyone have any ideas?

You said it was an aux cable. nothing you said indicated it was proprietary in any way. If it is not an aux cable, but a dock cable, those are usually proprietary to the auto manufacturer. If they don't have anything, try e-bay, but beware the cheap chinese junk out there.

  • N73/Brodit cradle & cable for car kit

Can you please offer any assistance? I have a full Nokia car kit with interchangable cradle (not Bluetooth, model unknown) which was purchased 2nd hand for a 6230i. I have now upgraded to N73 & need to modify the car kit. The existing pop port lead works OK with the N73, so I have bought a Brodit cradle, but the lead does not fit the recess in the cradle, so bought a CA-27 cable as advised by the Brodit info. The CA-27 fits my control box but on testing with a meter, is wired different to the original lead & doesn't work with the phone. Is there any tech information available online on pin-outs for the cable etc., or would a Nokia CK-7 advanced control box work with this phone & CA-27 cable? Rewiring the cable wouldn't be a problem if I had the info - I used to repair Laptops to component level. Also, I don't really want to replace whole kit again (3rd time!) & don't want to go totally bluetooth. Any information would be much appreciated! Dave.

Thanks confiture & Danny B for your responses - I was aware that the CA-27 was intended for the CK-7W advanced. Since the existing cable from the kit works with the phone, I was hoping to find some pin-out info to modify the CA-27. We are thinking of emigrating this year & I have had to buy the N73 for cash to avoid extending contracts, so had hoped to sort the car kit problem as cheap as I could. Unless someone comes up with an alternative idea, there must be a way of modifying the CA-27 to the same pin connections as the existing cable, which as I said, works "straight up the **bleep**" of the N73! Would buy a CK-7W box, but a mate who used to work in the trade says they are prone to going wrong, and a 2nd user one (ebay etc.) may be a duff one.

  • Male to male audio cable for car doesn't work with my iphone 4s?

I have a 3.5 mm male to male cable that I have used in my car so I can listen to my music.  It works fine with my iphone 3G, but it doesn't work with the new 4s.  Is there a special cable I need to use with it?  It's weird, because my earbuds work with either iphone, but not the audio cable.  Suggestions??

I have the exact same issue with my new 4S.
    I haven't find a solution yet.

  • Aux cable that works with Belkin Candy Shell Case?

Just got the iPhone 5 this weekend and bought the Belkin Grip Candy Shell case and my Aux stereo cable doesn't fit in the port.  Is there a cable out there with an end piece that is more similar to that of the headphones so that it will fit in the port and not make me remove the case everytime I want to listen in my car?
Thanks in advance for any help!

I was reading around before I made this thread trying to see if my question has already been answered and I came across a few people who were using an AUX cable for phonecalls, and once they switched to a dock setup they couldn't use their car speakers for calls. I never saw a car kit mentioned but I could have maybe overlooked it.

  • Using aux-in cable for music play-back in car.. help needed

Has anyone had any issues using an aux-in cable for music playback with the S3? I know the cable works fine on other devices (itouch, moto x, etc) and headphones work fine on the device, but I cannot get thing to work using the aux-in cable in my car. I've gone through all the settings I could think of and nothing has worked. Any ideas would be most appreciated.

I have not had that problem.  Are you using a standard 3.5mm stereo aux cable?  I have read a post in another forum that some posters with the same complaint simply were not pushing the plug in hard enough.  I know this sounds silly, but try again and push until you a absolutely positive it is in.  Also, try another cable if you can.  If it works with the headset that came with the phone, then the phone or aux port is probably not the problem.  You could also try another car with the same cable you have now.  Just some different thoughts for you.
The one known issue is that when you are connected via the aux cable and get a call, the call audio is sent to the car speakers and the internal mic is used for your voice.  This happens even if you have a BT headset connected.  I hope they resolve this with the forth coming update.

  • Ipod classic 160gb showing music playing but no sound with headphone headunit aux cable or hardwired car stereo

last week i had my ipod classic 160gb plugged into my ford falcon fg xr6 ipod connectivity hardwire for the car stereo as i have had for over a year now since i only ever take it out to update music and software. i unplugged it and was using an iphone 5 in the meantime for about 2 hours while my ipod classic was updating. when i connected my ipod classic the connection is fine i can browse files and songs like normal but no sound comes out of the speakers. i thought my car was stuffed but i have tried it on alpine pioneer kenwood aftermarket units through an ipod cable which i have done hundreds of times in the truck i drive as well as tryin to connect headphones as well as an aux cable to play through the speakers all to no avail.   the ipod works fine i can scroll throught lists the seconds and minutes of the song or video roll on by so it is playing but no sound is being produced.
if anyone could help me with this ASAP it would be greatly appreciated and i would be one grateful man to have my music back. thank you in advance

    Hello Brutl6,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPod classic.  You have gone through some really good steps to isolate the issue. I recommend continuing with the steps in the following article to further isolate and troubleshoot the issue of no audio when connected to headphone or speakers:

  • How do i use ipod in car with aux cable

Im trying to use my ipod touch 4 in the car with an aux cable and its not working, any suggestions?

Doesthe car's AUX input work  with oter devices?
Do headphones work on the iPod?
If headphones work then if the car's plug is fully inserted into the iPod, that is all you have to do with the iPod.

  • Apple certified cable for AV RCA out and USB sync with BMW car's COMBOX

My recently purchased Apple certified cable for AV RCA out and USB sync works very well with the PC and TV. I bought it to connect to my BMW car's COMBOX interface which is designed to connect to Apple products.
It doesn't even power up and BMW fails to recognize iPod, same combox works well with the original usb sync cable which came with the iPod but that doesn't have AV out so can't play music and video to the head unit. I think this could be due to low power coming from the car's USB, am I right to think this? If yes what options have I got to fix this? Can I supply additional power to iPod?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
I'm afraid that's to be expected in most cases, you need to turn your TV speakers off.

  • What USB cable for in car use?

I have just received my brand new car & it has a USB dock to plug your Iphone 4 in to use through the Stereo/Screen but have been told it needs to be a particular USB cable for it to work?
Can anyone inform me what USB cable i am actually looking for as a standard USB charging one does not work?
    Thanks

What kind of car? I use a stock Apple in my 10' Acura TL and it charges and connects fine.

  • Loud static when connected to car through aux cable?

I've got my iPhone4 connected to my Mini Cooper through an aux cable and the static is unbearable. At first, it would hiss for 2-3 seconds before going away but now it's all the way through songs and super sensitive to touch (especially I touch the iPhone4 on the edges). This happening to anyone else?
Didn't happen with my 3g or Nano. Bought the Belkin Cable in the Apple store a year or two ago. Wondering if a bumper (which I'm planning on buying anyway) will limit some of the interference that's possibly moving through the antennae and into the aux cable?
    Thoughts?

hi - theres a griffin cable that worked for me.... specifically made for this issue - for some reason its worse with the ip4, I also have a mini and it drove me crazy until i got this.....

  • HT1338 Power cable for Macbook not working / Apple Care discount?

My power cable for my Macbook stopped working. I went to the bookstore at my school and at first they told me I could get a discount on a new one ($29 instead of $79) because I have Apple Care. Then they told me that was a mistake and I have to pay full price even though I have Apple Care... True/false????

It appears your Macbook is at least 2 years old. If you have the extended warranty and there is no physicla damage to your power adapter, then you "might" be eligible for a free replacement.
Have you tried replacing the duckhead adapter yet? That's the part that normally fails first.
