Why does Entertainment mode lag the aux-in?
I have the sound output from my tv cable box plugged directly (jack to jack) into the aux-in on my x-fi but the lag is ridiculous, its unusable.
If I play the sound on the TV at the same time as the xfi output its so bad that it echos. If I turn the TV down and just listen from the x-fi, the drift in lip synch is so obvious that it makes me annoyed that Ive actually spend good money on this card, what gives?
Ive upgraded from a 4 year old SBLi've! that worked perfectly on all inputs, I expected it to be better, not worse. Dont get me wrong, theres some great advances on the x-fi but why the massi've delay on the main entertainment channel?
But... if I switch to Gaming mode theres no lag!! It works like my old Li've but then I lose the rich sound of entertainment mode.
In Creation mode theres no lag UNLESS SVM IS SWITCHED ON (which is a pain in the rear as SVM is great for levelling out loud adverts vs the quieter programs) so I've made a custom tab for the TV with no effects, just if I want the main TV sound as center fill I have to turn off SVM.
What a mess - I didnt expect all this from a class of 2005 card, I really looked forward to SVM as well as having a new audio card. I doubt whether theres anything I can do about this lag is there?

i have just noticed this issue, my god can creative no do anything right, i just hope i have not had this card 60 days, as i am returning it, cannot be bothred anymore, lag with dolby digital last time on audigy2 zs plat, i had to buy the ddts00 last time to fix that, what should i buy this time a forking sledge hammer.
I wish creative would actually test their hardware before releasing it, what a bunch of idiots, and customer service is terrible, they send you second hand goods for the new ones you return to them, thats if your lucky, as last time they sent me a 6 channel audigy 2 card as a replacement for a black audigy2 zs platinum card and li've dri've, they cannot even tell the difference between black and white as audigy 2 li've dri've is WHITE.
I am never buying another piece of creative hardware as its obvious that they have serious issues with understanding things, let alone the mistakes they have made recently with their hardware, cannot even get a simple 2 channel stereo input to work, i woudl suggest you return the card for a refund if you can and use your older hardware, its probs better anyways.
Yet another unhappy creative customer, i think someone should start a collection for someone to print out the whole of this forum and send it to creative head office, but then again they would just write back and ask you what is the model of your sound card or what operating system are you using.
i might even start up a website , get vid camera , video me smashing all my creative hardware before sending the bits back to creative, pos

    Hello everyone,
I purchased a X-Fi titanium? in the last few days and installed the latest drivers (2_7_0007) and console lauchers (2_6_30). However I found the following problems.
[I have already tried to uninstall and reinstall the driver and the applications. The on board sound card has been disabled in BIOS
my operation system is Vista SP, motherboard: ASUS P5Q, CPU: E6550, 4GB RAM. ]
) under entertainment mode, the CMSS 3D headphone is not functional. I have tried to follow the instructions of how to turning on CMSS 3d on the creative website, but it seems that i have different control interface to the instructions.

    2) The other thing is that when I plug in my headphone the console <img border="0" src="file:///C:/Users/weijay/Desktop/entertainment%20mode.jpg">launcher could not detect it automatically. Is it true that this function only works with the front audio dri've bay?
    3) another related problem is that after I plug in the headphone and i pressed the auto detect button, the system can only find a 2 speaker system connection.
So if anybody can help me with above problems I will be more than grateful. Thank you very much.

Update on my issue. I got everything to work flawlessly now. For some reason If I clicked the crystalizer, CMSS 3d or if I think even when i tried adjusting the Bass Crossover it had no effect under the Creative console launcher. When I went into the Audio Console and started messing with those options there they worked great!! So for now on I'm sticking to the Audio Console instead of that launcher, now I can listen to my **bleep** music in 7. like I'm supposed to.

  • SPDIF In not working, no SPDIF tab in Entertainment mode, X-FI Extreme PCI

    Hi All,
I am trying toget the SPDIF input working with my HDTV as the source of the audio input. I have looked everywhere in these forums and there are many references to the SPDIF tab in Entertainment mode, but this does not exist in my software. I have done the software auto update and it tells me I have the latest software and drivers. How do I get the SPDIF input to work. I would think it should be as easy as turning on this input, but I cannot figure out how. HELP!!

Well basically it is possible, and I've found this out. Apparently Dell released a driver or something that allows it to work, but then only if you install a 3rd party modified xp version of the creative suite. I don't remember where I found it, but it was through google... Using some term including x-fi, dts, and vista.... Can't seem to find it now. Anyway, it had a download for the whole creative suite that was modified from the xp version for Vista, however it was buggy as hell, caused driver issues and blue screens, and ended up causing me to have to reinstall Vista altogether again. In other words, it's possible, but I don't recommend it until it's officially supported... Don't know when this will be yet... *crosses fingers*
Luckily I've got a dual OS system with XP too, and I switch to that when I want to use my Xbox 360... However due to Microsoft also being terrible in that department... I now get entertainment off of its 3 red lights... (For those of you who don't know, 3 red lights = hardware error. Sending into microsoft for repair typically is a 2 month process... I'm still waiting on my prepaid shipping box to arri've and it's been 4 days... Will be a similar wait to get it to them, 4-6 weeks for them to actually repair, and another week or so to get it all shipped back). Although even when the console worked, my dsl modem sometimes cut out when playing on Xbox li've and dropped signals, reported errors, etc.
What is with the companies producing technology nowadays? I just want to play Gears in 5. on Xbox li've... *cries*Message Edited by Supercoolyo on 07-22-20070:54 AM

  • Weird problem with CMSS-3DHeadphone in Entertainment Mode (Xtreme Mus

Ok here is the thing.. CMSS-3D in Game Mode works perfectly and i can hear exactly where the sound goes when i "Test" it and the helicopter sound starts. But in entertainment mode it doesn't work at all. When i test, each virtual speaker has different volum, some of them i can barly hear and i know this isn't right cause my dad has the same card. When I manualy press each virtual speaker, then FRONT?is Front. Front-left is played in only LEFT instead of between front and left, left is LEFT and rear-left is also ONLY LEFT, back sounds like FRONT, it does the same on the other side. This is not right and i wonder what is causing it to do this!?Sum up; CMSS-3DHeadphone is screwed up in Entertainment Mode, but works perfectly in Game Mode. oh before you ask, I use headphones ofcourse with pure left and right speakers. • Audio from headphones gets distorted when switched to "entertainment mode" w

the sound quality from my headphones gets messed up whenever I switch to "entertainment mode." when i say "messed up," i mean the volume would constantly fluctuate from really high to just noise then high again.
however, when i switch it to "game mode" all the problems disappear.
why are my headphones (sennheiser pc50) not compatible with "entertainment mode?"
    i have a creative x-fi xtrememusic card.

I had a similar problem using X-Fi Fatalty. By similar I mean everything worked until switching to entertainment mode. When in entertainment mode all audio had a horrible amount of loud static and noise riding on it. This wasn't limited to headphones though as the same occurred using my 2. speaker system. I was using the latest driver, from June of '06 I believe.
I rolled back to the driver on my install CD (version 5.2.2.43 dated 8/8/2005)and it solved the issue.

  • X-FI platinum, huge problem please help. entertainment mode distortion, screeching Vista 32

My x-fi platinum just out of the blue stopped working. When it was working it still had problems of not being detected by the computer till i restarted it several times. Now when i play any kind of sound when its on it plays distorted screeching sounds or just completly stops, this is in Entertainment mode. now when i switch to audio creation or game mode. It plays fine for a bit, and then screeching, static noises start playing. It use to work fine on entertainment mode but for some reason everything has halted. I play my music/sounds through a external receivor which my sound card is connected to. I think it might have something to do with a spdif output problem, but im still not sure. I tried unplugging my other pci cards other then my cga and i still have the problem. I dont know if some setting in the bios was disabled or enabled or what as im pulling my hair out over this issue.Message Edited by plokkr23 on 2-04-20070:02 AM

im getting something similar. Can you check your Sound Control panel and tell me - when the distortion is most evident - if microphone is MUTED or Not. I have NO SOUND issues when Microphone is muted, but when it isn't - whether the microphone is plugging in or not - i have tons of distortion. It began out of no where, within the last 3 days.
I've found minor temp fixes that don't fix the problem and I wish i knew a long term one, or even what the hell caused it.

  • X-Fi *entertainment mode* and L/R balance adjustment

Is there a L/R balance adjustment available in the *Entertainment Mode*? I can't find it (c.f. the older Creative Mixer Control had it by default) .. or does one have to switch to Music Creation mode to adjust balance?

No the bass and treble settings from entertainment mode do not apply to game mode. There are no bass and treble controls in game mode.
While the idea behind the new modular architecture is good, as always with CL, the execution is utterly abysmal. Whole heaps of functionality that were availble in the Audigy 2 ZS drivers, just isnt there with the X-fi. The console does not work with a dual monitor setup, each time you switch mode there is a massi've audio crunch, the driver panel crashes continuosly, the entertainment mode is too big, the panel cannot be resized, etc etc.
Then not to mention the card makes huge screeching noises when loading levels in BF2, does not work with Teamspeak, these are all things that the Audigy 2 ZS could manage but the X-Fi cant. Antoher day of this and I will probably be requesting a refund.

  • Entertainment Mode Not Work

Hey, I have an X-fi xtreme gamer. It was all working fine up until a few weeks ago when the entertainment mode on my card stopped working. Every time I switch to it the sound stops working, and most of the options (eg: crystaliser) disappear. This is really annoying as I use my card to listen to music and watch DVD's. I have also reinstalled the latest driver, but it still doesn't work. Any ideas?

I think I've had a similar problem. Is there a little red cross on the Volume Panel's icon when it happens? Well, I had and it meant that the Mute All was switched on, the Mute All button is in middle bottom, under the Master Volume thingy.

  • Static in entertainment mode. Creative X-Fi Titanium.

I have an e9280t desktop with a Creative X-Fi Soundblaster Titanium installed from the factory.  I am running Windows 7 Ultimate.  When I use the Creative Audio Control Panel and switch to the "Entertainment " Mode all I get is static from all of my 5.1 Speakers.  In the "Game"  Mode, the front (left and right) speakers and the Center and Subwoofer sound fine, but the rear right has a small amount of static and the rear left has considerable static.
I have installed the drivers and software from Creative and everything else I can think of, nothing helps.  I have contacted HP and the India Gurus can't fix the problem and they can't  figure out if it is hardware or software.  Has anybody else had the same problem?  By the way the e9280t is a 64 Bit machine and I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

LD, welcome to the world of sound cards.  They can be a major pain.  You say that you installed the driver and software that came with the card.  I suggest going to the Creative website and download the latest driver.  It could be that they have corrected any problems.
Also, have you checked all of the settings in the Control Panel/Sound?  It could be an incorrect setting causing the problem.

  • Popping Cracking in Entertainment Mode o

I have searched the board and offcourse found out problems with cracking/popping with the X-Fi, but none seem to have the problem only when in Entertainment mode.
Well thats my problem. The cracking/popping comes after using my computer for a while. If i change to game mode the cracking/popping dissapear and when changing back to Entertainment it can be heard again.
Is this a common problem and can it be fixed? All the other thread about cracking/popping issues are about 00-200 pages long so i just can't read all of them.

Glad that one worked. Sadly there's no way of telling whehter Creative actually know about the issue or not...
The humming might be volume related, come to think of it. The X-Fi is quite a loud card. With the volume set to the same levels as my a2 zs it's actually a bit too loud. Open up the mixer and disable everythig you don't use (typically idsable everything except wave). Now set the volume on wave and on the main dial to about 60-70%. Open up the windows mixer (start, run, then type sndvol32 ) now hit options then properties. Enable all the controls and hit ok. Now disable everything except wave and play control. That should solve it!

  • Entertainment mode spdif output showing as PCM

how do i get my x-fi platinum card to simply to passthrough SPdif to my receiver without adding anything to it.
All I want is to be able to listen to music and games in pro logic 2 again instead of lousey 2.

If you want to pass the signal out undecoded, you need to essentially tell the card to stop decoding. In the Entertainment Mode console, click on the Dolby or DTS button, set the Bitstream out setting to On (External Decoder).
