Aux input to car radio issue

I have a Sony radio in my car. And I connected my Xperia Z3 compact into the aux input, using a 3.5mm jack to jack. One side goes into my headphones jack and the other goes into the radio.
And annoyingly, the sound quality is bad. I get popping noises and like whistle sound and cracking noises. And it's driving me nuts because I can't listen to my music in peace.
Sad part about this is that every other device I've tried works fine, just my new Xperia that is having the issue. It was fine with an iPhone 5s and this other samsung phone I had. Which makes zero sense because the radio is also Sony, so it should work perfect with my Sony Xperia.
So frustrating, can anyone help please.

The 5-pole jack is compatible with 3/4-pole accessories (you can for example connect standard headphones without a microphone) but i remember a case where a user had a cable where the size of each pole was different compared to other 3-pole cables which could cause issues. If you hold the 3.5mm plug of these cables next to eachother, does the poles have the same size/placement?
Did you use the same cable when you tried the dock radio?
It could also be that the phone is having issues sensing that it's connected to another device. I'm not sure but i believe this depends on impedance. What happens if you force the output using an app like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.woodslink.android.wiredheadphoneroutingfix?

  • Media player into Aux input on car stereo

    Hi,
    Blackberry Pearl 8100
I would like to use the media player in my car.  My car stereo has an Aux input and I use it with a removable DVD viewer, it works well.  I have bought 2 x 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapters (the 2nd and 4th items here http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?menuno=13259) but neither of them work.  Plugging the lead into the device doesn't divert the sound from the speakerphone or handset in the same way plugging in headphones does.  If I wiggle the connectors about, it will come and go in one channel (left) of the stereo, but not in any consistent or useful way.
It has been suggested in one other thread ( http://www.blackberryforums.com.au/forums/blackberry-pearl-smartphone-discussion/1242-playing-music-... )that there could be an issue with the Aux input itself and the signal from the device is not high enough to drive the Aux but that isn't consistent with the sound levels that I get out of it when I wiggle the connectors.
I have checked the vehicle manufacturer manual for the audio unit and I can't find the impedance of the Aux imput or specification of it, but its a Sony 6CD audio unit.
Can anyone shed any light on my problem?  I have tried X Player over my handsfree Parrot, but the music sounds like a phonecall (unsurprisingly :-)
    Help, please..
    Gareth

the manual says "an equipment such as a portable audio player can be connected to the aux input terminal using a commercially available mini plug (3.5).
I'm almost positive that is what I bought.

  • HT1477 Good evening.  What kind of an adapter do I require to plug my ipod shuffle into the Aux In plug to connect to my car radio??  Thank you.

Good evening,  What kind of an adapter do I require to plug my ipod shuffle into aux 1 outlet in my car to go through radio???

It's not really an "adapter."  It's a cable with a mini-stereo plug at both ends.  Here's an example
    http://www.amazon.com/Monster-iCable-Player-Auxiliary-Input/dp/B002AR5XIK
Connect it from the shuffle's headphones jack to the auxilliary audio input on car audio system.  You called it an "aux 1 outlet," but it's really an audio INPUT, correct?  DO NOT connect it there, if that is an audio OUTPUT.  It needs to be an audio INPUT.

I have had IPhones since their inception.  Last phone was the 5.  A few months ago, I upgraded to the 6 Plus.
    Here is my issue.
On my 5, my car radio (which has USB port) allowed me to plug in and listen to radio or music from my phone and the bonus was it charged the phone as well. All worked great.
Now with the 6 Plus, neither of things work.  The message on the radio (Kenwood) says I Pod error.  The message on my phone say's "this device is supported".
I have called on this before and was told you are aware and that the issue will be addressed in a future update.  There have been several updates on IOS 8 and the issue remains.

I have a Kenwood KDC-X695. When I purchased this stereo and had it installed, I had an ATT iPhone 4.
It worked with the stereo, but had a few issues. I had purchased a few audio books that I would listen to while driving. When I plugged it in it would immediately begin to play the book from the beginning or if I had been listening to music, it would start playing the song that was at the top of the song list.
The stereo came equipped with Firmware version 3.05. I upgraded to the iPhone 5 a year later. I had that phone for approximately 2 years. The song or book issue remained the same.
I just recently upgraded to the iPhone 6 and the Bluetooth function still works, however the USB port on the stereo that the phone plugs into to allow files on the phone to play through the stereo no longer works.
I contacted the service provider (Verizon) and after speaking to several different technical support technicians, they provided me the phone numbers for Kenwood and Apple because they were unable to help me.
I spoke with Kenwood technical support the following day and after a few fumbling miscues from the technical advisor, it was suggested that I upgrade the firmware, even though the Kenwood literature warns against this if the Bluetooth portion is working, because if there is a problem with the upgrade, it can render the Bluetooth useless and non-functional. The advisor did suggest the latest firmware on the second or third attempt, after I pointed out what I was able to glean from my initial search.
Later that day, I went back to the Kenwood site (from their homepage) and by using their selection tools, discovered that this particular model was only ever intended to be used with the iPhone 4S (the technical advisor was not aware of this, even though I mentioned this during my phone call earlier in the day). According to the Firmware selection tool, my iPhone 5 should not have worked with it.
I performed the Firmware upgrade, and it took 13 minutes. This was less than the 15 minutes that was forecast in the Kenwood literature. The Bluetooth still works but the USB cable connection still causes the unsupported device message that I received prior to the upgrade. I am incredibly annoyed and disappointed.
By upgrading to the iPhone 6, I have three choices; (1) only use the Bluetooth for phone calls without the ability to play other files from my iPhone 6 (2) forced obsolescence of my stereo, requires buying a new stereo (3) return my iPhone 6 and go back to my iPhone 5.
I do not believe that I should have to be a software/Firmware/hardware engineer, vetting every single device that I own; prior to upgrading a cell phone.
I am incredibly annoyed with Apple at the moment.
I have a separate Bluetooth headset that worked with both my iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 that the iPhone 6 simply does not recognize. That is another story for another time.
Currently, I am incredibly underwhelmed with Apple.

  • How to play Mozaic over car radio speaker system without static?

Playing Zen Mozaic over Car?s Radio Speaker system without static?
I just purchased a Zen Mozaic and want to use it primarily for playing books downloaded from the local library over our car?s radio speaker system without static.
I purchased a cheap audio cable to connect the zen to the AUX interface in the car but I understand that trying to play it over the car runs into the problem of bad static.
Is there some device that will allow me to play the Mozaic over the car radio system without static?
    Thanks very much.
    Bruce? [email protected]

D? Are you simply plugging a jack from the headphone output on the Zen into a headphone-like input on your stereo? That sould work fine, with possibly only slight "whine". If you are wiring into the back of your stereo, it should work just as well unless you have poorly shielded cables or your car has crummy sparkplugs. Do a Google search on this---what you are doing in case 2 is common on motorcycles and they will tell you how to use a resistor circuit to cut down on ignition interference.
You can also either use a cassette adapter (if your stereo has a cassette player) or an FM transmitter (many varieties of these). The FM transmitter works well, but you'll pick up static and interference if you dri've into an area where an actual FM station is using that frequency. You just have to "change channels" on your radio and transmitter in this case---simple. The sound is pretty good (not as good as direct cable or cassette adapter) and is more than adequate for books.

  • Powerbook G4 thru Pioneer car radio

I am trying to hook my G4 thru my car(2004Scion XB) stereo (Pioneer T1201) so I can listen to iTunes radio via my car radio(with my Verizon Wireless card) as well as the 2007 Garmin GPS 18 system($200) which I will hook up to my laptop via a USB cable. It seems silly to order a $2000 dollar GPS StreetSmart unit and subscibe to XM or Sirrius for $$ each month plus the $200 receiver when I can enjoy my music I already have. Anyone else done this, or have an idea about adapting?
    Thanks,
    Pat
    Powerbook5,8   Mac OS X (10.4.8)
      Mac OS X (10.0.x)

The power isn't a issue. I hooked up a 100w inverter containing a USB port for power. Computer taken care of. Now I have found a Pioneer IP-Bus adapter with RCA jacks. Installed in aux. port on back of radio. Now hooked up to computer via a set of Monster audio jack to RCA cables when I drive, listening to my music on my computer thru the car stereo. Now waiting on Garmin GPS with USB connection that will drive via my 15" screen all my GPS directions, and audio output of directions via the car stereo. The GPS is about the diameter of a aluminum soda can. Portable too. Very happy now. Thanks for your interest.

  • Unable to listen to music on 4s through aux input after ios7 update

I can no longer listen to my phone using my aux input
In my car. It worked yeasterday before the upgrade
But doesn't work today. Please help

I have this same issue but with iPhone 4. Would not play via USB or Bluetooth. I own 2013 Toyota Corolla. When I plug via USB my car audio display lets me select folders and music through browse but when I select a song I get an error on the car audio display that says "read manual or contact dealership for information on how to connect". This did not happen prior to ios 7 update on my iPhone 4.

  • Sony DSX-MS60 marine radio issue with SiriusXM

I just installed a Sony DSX-MS60 marine radio in my 2009 Harley Streetglide. I replaced a Sony car radio I had on the bike for 4 years. Everything is working nicely except for one strange issue that will cause me to return the radio if I cannot find a solution. The problem is when SiriusXM is the source I cannot control the volume. It's either very low where you can barely hear it or blasting very loud. There is no in between. None of the other sources has this issue. The volume level works like it is supposed to with AM/FM, iPod and USB. I didn't test the external Aux. Anyway does this issue sound like something that can be resolved without exchanging the unit. Thanks

    Hello Eric,
Make sure the remote commander jack is seated firmly on the head unit. If the issue persists, please contact our Technical Support team so that we can verify if the old commander is compatible with new unit. http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/suppor ... dl=DSXMS60

  • ITunes automatically starts playing when iPhone 5 (w iOS 7.0.2) is connected to car radio via an Apple cable

I'm using an iPhone 5 with iOS 7.0.2, regardless it is the most recent update
When I plug my phone into my car radio's USB port (Apple cable, not knock off) iTunes starts to play the very first song in my large iTunes library.
I plug into the USB port to charge it and to connect the phone to radio in order to use hands free audio.
I have tried two or three different cables, it happens with all cables and again all are actual Apple cables.
I do not recall this happening with iOs 6 or at least as much.
With iOs 7 it happens every f***ing time. Extremely annoying and dangerous (I may get so frustrated by this that one day I might just smash the phone or the car radio :-) to the equipment.
I have to unlock my phone, go to iTunes and pause or stop the song/iTunes.
The app does not show as being open, that is why I have to go iTunes itself, the old fashioned way, so to speak.
It sometimes happens when I plug my headset in (also Apple brand, the basic ones that come with the iPad and iPhones) to phone and have tried the two different ones I have. It only seems to happen if my phone is not in use (i.e. I am on a call and switch to the headset it does not happen)
Interestingly this issue with the headphones and iTunes automatically starting happened more with iOS 6  and than with iOS 7. Ironically the opposite is true with the car radio, USB port cable, charging and iPhone — it rarely happened with iOS 6.0 but with iOS 7.0 it always happens.
I cannot seem to find a fix here but I do see I am not the only one with this annoying issue.
Please someone (APPLE!)  figure out a fix.
PS I have even considered NOT having any of my music on my phone — none at all —  which not only would solve the problem (I would hope!)  but be extremely inconvenient and defeating the purpose of only having an iPhone vs an iPhone and an iPod.
PPS -  I probably left out something really relevant, like what color is my car , so if I did, please let me know.

I have an iPhone 5 and every time I get into my car, as soon as my iPhone connects to the bluetooth or if I connect the USB cable, the music starts blaring through the car stereo, even if the radio was off. If I am using any of the navigation apps on my phone (google maps, waze, apple maps), and I happen to be lucky enough to have the voice directions working (that's consistently inconsistent), the music will frequently start by itself during navigation, even if I didn't turn the music on. Sometimes the music and navigation voice over will compete with each other at the same time. Sometimes they both go totally silent. Sometimes I'll hear only music. Sometimes only the voice directions. And if make or receive a phone call while the navigation is working, as soon as the phone call ends, the music will always take over again, even if I didn't have the music on prior to. I've checked and re-checked every setting on my phone, in my apps, in my car, and followed all of the suggestions I've found online (note to Apple - there are tons of posts on this topic), and nothing works.
It seems like there should be an easy software fix for this, or at the very least, options to:
prevent the music from starting automatically every time you connect with a cable or bluetooth (insanely annoying)
allow voice directions to temporarily mute music, should one choose to be listenting to music and navigating at the same time
just listen to voice direction - no music!
Better yet, how about just provide options to let the end-user decide when to listen to music.
For a product that is supposed to be "intuitively easly" and/or "just works", this level of dysfunction shouldn't be acceptable. Come on Apple - what are you doing to fix this???

  • Lumia 1520 radio issues

I recieved an update on my 1520 and the reboot problem I was having seems to have stopped. YEA!  BUT - now I'm having radio issues.  My Bluetooth will just turn off at random times, sometimes in middle of a conversation.  Also, my wifi will not reconnect to known networks until I turn the phone off and on again.  These are actualy more problematic than the reboots were!

If the phone is not performing as expected do a soft reset. A soft reset does not lose data. it is like pulling the battery.
Hold the volume down button and the power button down until the phone vibrates, release. This takes about 10 seconds.  The phone will shutdown and restart.
If this continues take it to Nokia Care.

  • TS1425 iPod nano - loses functionality when connected to car radio

For the past week, when I connect my iPod nano (4th generation) to a car radio (and I've tried it in several) it brings up a splash screen of the radio manufacturer which stays on the iPod screen and prevents any further access to the iPod functionality. This only happens when connected to a car radio, otherwise the iPod functions normally. So in effect, the iPod is unusable when connected to the car radio, which is where I do most of my listening. Anyone know how to help eliminate this problem?

It sounds like a battery issue to me. When you connect it to the PC it draws power from the computer and thus it is able to function. Apparently it doesn't have enough of its own juice anymore. You probably just need a new battery.

  • Connecting ipod nano to car radio

i have 2 ipods ,one is one of the first ones made, wich i have played on my car radio ,just plug in the cable that charges ,and away, the second is a 3rd gen ipod nano, when i plug this into my car stereo jack it just says you must eject before disconnecting ,then the radio comes on and the ipod is at its normal screen, but cannot play thru car stereo, what can be wrong ?

are you sure you plugged it into the stereo jack??? because the ipod sees no difference in headphones and a car aux stereo jack to a car .... sounds like you are using something that plugs into a car lighter port... what device are you using to connect the ipod to your car?

  • How do i get my ipod touch to play on the car radio

How do I get my Ipad touch to play through the car radio?

You can buy something like this Belkin Cable here, which I use, and plug it into your car's Aux port if it has one. They can also be found in most electronics stores.
If your car doesn't have an Auxillary port, you can buy something like the Griffin iTrip, which allows you to set your iPod to transmit on a specific FM frequency, and you can just tune your car to that station. You can find that anywhere electronics are sold.
