Notice none of the Dolby or DTS features will be available until Q4 2007 or Q 2008..... And from the looks of it, right now it doesn't really offer much than the Xfi. Both systems are running Win XP SP2 and are behind 'walled gardens' on our LAN, a private sub-net of workstation computers with no internet access (we have office computers for browsing and e-mail).
While the two PCs are very similar, note that sound and video cards are different. Also system 2 does not yet have a Blu-ray writer.
System 1 works great with all of the Adobe apps.
System 2 experiences lengthy 'hangs' upon launch of several Adobe apps, including PhotoShop, Acrobat and, to a lesser extent, Premiere. What exactly happens is upon launch, on system #2, PhotoShop loads to the workspace, but hangs just as the palettes are being created. Time to this point, 3 seconds. Then, 60 seconds passes. The application's status in Task Manager changes to Not Responding. More time passes. Then the application comes back to life and is responsive again.
On system #1, PhotoShop is ready to use in 3 seconds following the command to launch. The 90-second delay/hang does not occur.
Logical deduction would suggest that the possible culprits are the video or sound card, these being different.
I also note that when recording and playing audio in other applications, like SoundForge and WinAMP, momentary pauses or gaps in the audio playback and recording are noted. It takes about 30 minutes of listening to encounter one such hiccup. It was also discovered that during recording, samples were dropped, during an hour-long studio recording session. There is something not quite right with system #2.
I was curious if anyone found a correlation between the Auzentech sound card and similar behavior where the app hangs and stops responding. Or anyone with the FX4600 graphics card having this problem?
What could PhotoShop, Acrobat and Premiere be doing during startup that is resulting in the apps to stop responding for a while, then return to responsive state? I have been going nuts for 4 months troubleshooting and trying to fix this problem, with no results. I've turned off nearly every Windows service, checked Adobe preferences between the two machines, speed tested the RAID 0 arrays and system drives--all seems well--in fact, the 2nd workstation has faster hard drives than the first, so maybe it is a problem with some exotic timing issue where the data is available to PhotoShop too soon and it gets confused and hangs up for a while? I'm at a loss!I don't like the way OpenType looks on screen. I know it has some advantages, like a larger character set, but the hinting, or lack thereof, makes low resolution imagers like screens and inkjet printers produce less than great output. And my investment in Adobe fonts is in the many thousands of dollars, purchased back around 1991. I prefer PostScript fonts by a wide margin over OTF and TTF.
WRT audio card, I removed the drivers, and installed RC8, the current version, but that did not help. I did note something curious though: rebooting with no audio drivers shaved 30 seconds off the boot time! The blue 'loading your personal settings screen' that usually stays up for 35 seconds, was there for 5 seconds then right to the desktop. It was the fastest I've ever gotten to the desktop on this machine. Once I installed RC8 drivers, the loading time became long again.
I can be certain there's no file fragmentation problems. The temp drive has about half a terabyte of free space on it, and in fact, of the 2TB of system storage, only about 10% is in use (new system).
But the latency is really noticeable with Sony SoundForge 9. Start playback and the wait can be anywhere from 1-3 seconds before play begins!
On the other workstation with the TurtleBeach Montego DDL, playback is instant when I hit Play. Never a delay that's perceivable. I just don't like the way the Auzentech works. It may even be responsible for the problems I had with Premiere CS4, which I gave up on in March after a concerted struggle to solve the playback issues there. But I seem to be not the only one suffering with that anomaly. Though my underlying feeling is that something is not right with this system's hardware combination. One or more peripherals is just not playing well with the software, I suspect. -
As some one who has always used the sound supplied with my motherboard, I am now crossing the great divide and need help in choosing the correct card for me.
I have recently purchased a vinyl turntable and Magix Audio Cleaning Lab 2XXL software so that I can copy my old vinyl record collection to CD's.
The minimum requirements for the software is 6-Bit Full Duplex Sound Card ie a sound card which will record and play at the same time.
can any one suggest what card I should purchase and why and how do you rate the OEM version of the card.
I have a gigabyte GA-945P-S3 board with PCI slots available. and windows Vista Buisness

2) also take a look at asus xonar d2x which is also a very good card too have also.. this card runs neck and neck with the prelude card listed above... however the only weakness to the zonar is the eax support which is only 2.0 how ever both cards are great it is a matter of personal perference on what card to get... if you are a gamer you would want the prelude because of the eax 5.0 support......hope this hel

Just a couple of questions. What would be considered the "best" X-Fi soundcard available? I would assume it's the Elite Pro, since it's the most expensi've and all. Are there any major problems with the Elite Pro that would deter me from buying it's? I hear problems about systems with 4GB of RAM, which I dont have but I will have soon, but I also hear that they're working on a new driver to fix that issue. Another question. Obviously putting the card on Entertainment mode is going to make music sound better. But most of the games that I play are older games or ports of console games (Quake III, Halo PC, Phantasy Star Online/Uni'verse). Should I be switching to gaming mode for these games, or would entertainment mode be best? And is there any easier way to switch between the two modes, because it seems kinda annoying having to do it manually. It'd be nice if I could just push a button on my keyboard and it'd switch between the two, I dont know what they were thinking. And if anyone wants to know, I'm running XP SP2 and using headphones. Also, I was considering buying an X-Fi card for my laptop since I saw that one was available. However, it's labeled as an Xtreme Audio, and from what I've heard the Xtreme Audio series isnt a true X-Fi card but is instead uses the same architecture as the Audigy2Z series. THX Setup Console for Auzentech Cards (Home Theatre HD)
I know that using DK's packs i can install the THX console and i 've used them for my older x-fi cards(really great packs for those older cards btw!). but installing his packs seems to alter other things even though all im installing is just the THX console. is there a way i can install just the THX console for my auzentech Home Theatre HD without one of DK's packs?

after installing windows i'm try to enable cool n' quiet feature setting in windows power options minimal power management and in the bios enabling cool n' quiet. the system boot properly but when logging in windows after that windows reboot
drivers is installed properly (nvidia new ones) for video and mainboard, bios 3.5 version.

It is probably a Windows problem. If you turn off automatic reboot there is a good(?) chance you will get a blue-screen with some more or less informative numbers. Google that.

VERY loud bursts of Static - Auzen Prelude X-FI
Hi There!
3 or 4 times most days whilst my computer is sitting doing very little (Though can happen anytime) a hugely noisy burst of static comes out of my speakers for about 2-3 seconds which scares the crap out of me.
It has persisted across 2 OS Reloads and mulitple driver versions (Auzentech not Creative).
I run an i7-920, Asus P6T Deluxe, 2GB, and 3 SSD's (Though it happened with my sata dri'ves too). I run a ATI HD5970.
Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.Hi, any more news? Did the firmware help?
One more idea, which you've probably already thought of, but just in case you haven't - try different headphones; a static sound could easily be caused if these were faulty. The N200 uses a fairly standard jack, so any personal stereo headphones you find lying around would work, just to see if the static is still there.
As I've said, you've probably already tried that, but you might not have!
If you do have to take it back, it's worth getting a new one. Mine works perfectly and it's by far my favourite purchase this year!

Prelude CC does not see presets in Media Encoder CC
I'm new at this, but am getting help from someone who has set this up and has it working in a previous version of the software(s), so we're both baffled!
I have defined a preset in Media Encoder CC, but when I go into Prelude CC to utilize it, it does not appear in the list of options. However, I am able to see and access the preset in Premiere CC .No amount of deleting/reinstalling/cursing has helped, and I don't see anything in the software that would disable it. I'm running a Windows 7 box.
Any ideas out there? (stupid computers!!!)Unfortunately, I only know the workaround on a Mac, but it might help as long as you can track the directories and might help Mac users who have suffered the same fate.
For whatever reason, AME is placing the presets in a new location without Prelude knowing about it. Ill communication. Basically, Prelude is looking in one place for the presets and the new Media Encoder is placing them elsewhere.
The workaround is to find where AME is placing them and move them to where Prelude is looking for them.
On a Mac, the solution is to take the presets User-- Documents--Adobe-Adobe Media Encoder--8.0--Presets and move them to where Prelude has always looked for them and where AME always previously stored them. User--Library--Preferences--Adobe--Common--AME--8.0. On some machines, Adobe created an alias inside of here to point to the Documents folder and that solved it, but for whatever reason, it's inconsistent. -

I can not synchronize data from the prelude livelog apparently seems to be all right, more aprasenta the following message: The Open Clip does not support XMP.
The Prelude can not apply metadata in it.

When it comes to AVCHD footage, Prelude wants to leverage the complex folder structure in order to save metadata. If the file is just the *.MTS file and is not part of the original folder structure, Prelude will report it cannot write metadata to the file. You can transcode the *.MTS to another format and then add metadata.
We are looking at future solution for what we call "naked MTS file", but unfortunately that is not part of the currently released product version.

Previewing clips in Prelude while in other applications (e.g. browsing the net)?
Prelude is a great tool for quickly going through media, but sometimes clips require you to watch or listen to the whole thing to find the right moments. I'd love to be able to have clips playing in the background while surfing the net. Is there a way to do this? I'm using the Mac version of Prelude, and everytime I switch to another application while Prelude is playing a clip, the clip pauses.
About your update. If you have multiple displays you can specify one of them to have full-screen playback (don't select your display with the Mac menu bar, that can make it a challenge to get back to the preferences to undo the change). The "Disable video output while in the background" control makes it so this full screen output is turned off when you bring another application forward. In all cases Prelude CS6 stops playing when another app comes forward. Thank you, in advance, for filing a feature request.

Prelude takes a long time to open a (new) project file
Hi,
I'm trying out Prelude, and I've created a new project and ingested (via link) about 20 hours of Canon XF footage in about 1000 files from an internal hard drive. All the media loaded correctly and all the audio peak files were generated.
When I close and reopen Prelude and try to open that project, the "loading project" window pops up, the progress bar proceeds to completion over a few seconds, and the window goes away. The issue is that Prelude is then unresponsive for the next ten or fifteen minutes! I can see the entire interface, but nothing responds. I can see the clips listed, but their thumbnails are not loaded. Windows System Monitor tells me Prelude is actively using CPU and accessing the disk. After 10-15 minutes, the thumbnails appear and I'm able to use Prelude, but this seems like a LONG time to load a not-so-big project on a pretty new system. Is this normal?
My system has one of the new i7-4770k processors, 16 GB of RAM, a Samsung 840 SSD for the system drive, and an internal Seagate 3TB 7200 RPM drive as the media drive for this project, so I would expect loading to be pretty snappy. While Prelude is unresponsive, system monitor shows it using 15-20% CPU, 11 GB of RAM, and only 5-10 MB/s disk access. I've tried recreating the project file from scratch several times, with the same result every time.
Is this wait time normal? Is there any way I can speed it up?

I tested out Prelude with approximately half of the same footage of my
larger project. It still had a brief unresponsive period but,
interestingly, the relationship to the amount of footage didn't seem to be
linear. Whereas a project with all the footage takes 10 minutes, this one
only took about a minute.
I should also point out that, although this is all Canon XF footage and all
the media is in numbered subdirectories with metadata like on the card,
they are not contained within the "CLIPS001" directory that your Canon XF
importer uses to identify XF media. Therefore, when I import them, the
import dialog doesn't identify the media directories as such. I don't know
whether that makes a difference, just wanted to try to help narrow it down
in any way I can.

New features I'd like to see in Prelude
Prelude is a very cool program and I can see this becoming a vital part of the workflow. I have noticed a few things that aren't perfect yet and would like to change. I will file feature requests, but I am wondering if anyone else agrees with these, has any workarounds, or has other items to add to the list.
1. Thumbnail view in the project window with hoverscrub. Pr took a giant leap forward with Hoverscrub so you don't have to load each clip into the source monitor to preview, and PL could use this as well. (The case could be made that PL needs this even more, since this will be a step in the workflow where you could be searching through clips even more than you would in the bins in Pr)
2. More efficient way to create bins and move clips in the project window. Right now, when you create a new bin, it shows up at the bottom of the list of clips. I have a project open with 500 clips in it - if there is a clip at the top that I want to throw into the new bin, I have to drag it down and wait for the list to scroll all the way to the bottom - slowly! Such a big time waster. It would be more useful if I could highlight a clip - or multiple clips - hit "new bin" and the clips would automaticaly be placed in the new bin. Or, having the option to have multiple tabs in the project window (like Pr) could also alleviate the issue.
3. The ability to send clips to a specific bin in Pr. Right now, when you send clips over to Pr, they show up in the main project window. If I have a bin structure set up there, it would be nice to target certain bins so the clips down't get lost in the higher level bin hierarchy. For example, if I'm working in a bin that is nested in a B-Roll bin, nested in an interview subject and want to go back to Pl to find more clips, I would like the ability to have the B-Roll bin open, go to Pl, send a clip, and have it show up there in the proper bin. Now, I have to navigate back to the top level and drag it to the proper place. Not a huge deal with one clip, but working with lots of clips can get disorganzied pretty quickly. One last note - some might say that all the Pl work should be done up front and organized there before going tp Pr, but I am finding Pr-Pl to work well together, using Pl as my sorting, metadata and organization tool concurrent with Pr. Essentially, Pl is acting like a turbocharged version of Pr's Brower, Poject panel and metadata panel in a separate app.

Ingest movie clips
You can ingest entire movie clips or a selected portion of the movie clips (partial ingest). You can also transcode the selected movie clips using more than one encoding option.
Select File > Ingest. Alternatively, press Ctrl+I (Win) or Cmd+I (Mac OS).
Navigate to the folder containing media, and click the folder. The contents of the folder are displayed in the center panel.
Tip: To access folders from which you previously ingested content, use the menu above the panel.
Do the following based on your requirements:
To view content as Thumbnails, click the Icon View button.
To view content as a list, click the List View button.
To quickly preview the contents of a movie clip, drag the cursor across the thumbnail. You can also click the thumbnail and use the playhead to scrub the movie. Alternatively, use the JKL keys to control playback of the selected thumbnail.
To change the thumbnail size of movie clips in the panel, use the Zoom slide bar. -
Is it possible to switch the left-right scrolling behavior in Prelude?
On my Apple magic mouse I can scroll left and right with the flick of a finger for items that are too wide to fit on the screen, such as the list of columns in the Project pane. The behavior in Prelude is to move opposite to the finger flick - in other words if I flick my finger to the right, it will move the columns to the right as the scroll bar at the bottom moves to the left. This is the opposite behavior of Premiere in the same Project panel. In Premiere, if you flick to the right, it's as if you are flicking the scroll bar. When working with both programs at the same time, it's hard to get used to the inconsistent behavior. I can change my mouse settings to switch the direction, but I cannot make Prelude and Premiere match directions.

My Premiere and Prelude panel scrolling behavior still differ.
In Premiere, when I scroll to the right on my trackpad, I move forward in time.
In Prelude it's reversed.
How to set it? Can't find an option in the Preferences. -

Also I have gone through my last thread Can we use <include-prelude>...</include-prelude> in ATG9.1?? and hope this should be due to jstl version mismatch. I am not sure if ATG 10.1.1 already has required version of jstl? Is there need to change any jar(s)?
If yes I'm confuse which jstl and standard.jar should we use here from below?

My confusion was about version(for jstl.jar and standart.jar) with ATG 10.1.1. I have replaced jstl.jar with http://repo2.maven.org/maven2/javax/servlet/jstl/1.2/ and standard.jar with http://repo2.maven.org/maven2/taglibs/standard/. Now its working fine.
