AV-receiver only detected by iMac when TV is off.

Hi everyone,
the 2011 iMac I use does not detect the AV-receiver and TV it is connected to via HDMI (with a MDP-adapter). If I turn off the TV, the AV-receiver shows up as an external screen and I can choose from all the resolutions including HD. But no matter which one I choose, as soon as I turn the TV on again, the external screen disappears. The same setup works fine with a 2009 MacMini, even though I would have to turn on the receiver before the TV for it to be detected.

Why dont i receive texts or phone calls when my phones off or flat?

I Have an iphone 4 and have had it for nearly 2 years. Ever since i got my phone i have not been able to receive text messages or phone calls when its turned off or flat.
So if my phone goes flat and i turn it back on, i never receive calls or texts. I have tried turning my phone off then getting someone else to text me, then i have turned it on and the text does not come up?
i really need help on this due to family or work texting me and i dont realise.

I don't understand why you would expect to receive calls when the phone is turned off. By definition, it's OFF; it is not going to work. If you have voicemail enabled on your line callers should be given the option of leaving a message, which you can then listen to when the phone is on. If a caller does not leave a message there is no way to know that they called.

BGP received-only Question

From what I understand in the show ip bgp x.x.x.x/x output the received-only would be present when soft-reconfiguration inbound is configured and the route has been rejected by a policy i.e. a route map
What i have also found is that on many outputs i can see the exact same route in the output twice, one which has the received-only keyword and one doesn't.
Now for a specified neighbor we have a route map configured inbound which will change the weight based on the community value. It seems as though when a route map is configured and an attribute is changed that route appears in the output twice, one being modified and one which is unchanged. But this contradicts what is said on the Cisco website its states 'the received-only keyword will only show up if the route is denied by a policy', but its not.. it's just changed.
Has anyone had this discussion before? I would like to hear people's thoughts on the matter.

If you found this page, like I did, while searching for "received-only" - that means that the route has only been received, but not entered in the routing table. This is good if you meant to block that route. But if that route is actually also installed in the routing table and you meant to block it, check your route-map, specifically your prefix-lists and you will likely find that you have an error with wither the IP address or the CIDR mask, resulting in a non-match condition. The inverse is also true if you intend to allow a route but you only see the "received-only" route, you probably have a typo in your route-map or prefix list. Below are some examples that might help.

sounds like your
imap or pop3 or Exchange settings depending on your mail provider
are setup wrong
or that your firewall or wifi routers firewall are blocking the ports
used by the mail recieving service

When I turn off I get a battery sign with an exclamation mark?

When I turn on I get the apple logo only nothing else . then when I turn off I get a horizontal battery sign with an exclamation mark within a triangle,looks just like a traffic sign .

Hiya,
That is a problem with the battery in Older iPod Minis. If you have never replaced it, then I'd start thinking about it. My company www.dr-pod.com can do this for you. However, to cure your problem, you should leave your iPod connected to power for an hour, then you should see some activity on screen. Don't disconnect, leave it there for about 8 hours, to fully charge the iPod's battery.

The music icon will only access your purchased music. You need to go to the computer icon. It must be on and running iTunes, and home-sharing enabled in order for it to be accessible to Apple TV

Try using another connection such as VGA or DVI to see if the problem repeats itself.

Webcam on Envy 14 Beats only detects when the display is at a certain angle

I've had my Envy 14 Beats for about 9 months, when I got it the webcam worked just fine. A few months ago I started noticing that when I tilted the display forwad or backward I would hear the alert noise for when a usb device is unplugged, at the time I didn't think much of it.
Just recently I went to use my webcam with the MediaSmart app and got the error message "No WebCam detected, try plugging in your webcam... yada yada." So I went to the device manager to see if there was a driver issue, to my surprise there was no "Imaging device" category. I scanned for new hardware, nothing turned up. While re-adjusting my sitting position on the couch I tilted the display screen slightly forward, and to my surprise the device manager list refreshed and suddenly the "Imaging Device" category was there with the webcam listed. I let go of the display (I was applying a small amount of pressure tilting it forward) and the usb disconnect noise beeped and the webcam disappeared from the device manager...
After a little more pushing and prodding I was able to reproduce the effect. If I have the display at a slightly larger then 90 degree angle (100 degrees-ish) and then put a little pressure on the display tilting towards me (going from ~100 degrees to ~97) the webcam will show up in the device manager and works like there's nothing wrong. If I let go of the display and let it sit open unassisted I get the disconnect system noise and the webcam and imaging device categor disappear from the device manager. I'm guessing there's a loose connection in the wiring that connects the display screen to the main body of the laptop.
My question, then, is what can I do about it? Obviously me holding the display in order to use my webcam doesn't fly, but am I going to have to send in my laptop for repair? I bought the laptop in early december of 2010 so it's still under warrenty. If I do have to send it in, will they wipe my hdd?
Any ideas or suggestions would be very appreciated, I know this is a wierd one, but that's just my luck I suppose.

I have the exact same problem. And I went through it twice. The first time I had this problem, I tried to work around by tilting the display to a certain angle, but eventually the webcam stopped getting recognized and after talking to the customer care and trying system restore and even factory reset, I had to send the laptop for warranty repair. This time I noticed the problem while using Skype or Google video chat. Whenever my video is on i.e. the webcam is working, my microphone picks up a loud noise which goes away when I switch off the video. I got the same effect in HP MediaSmart webcam program too. After a couple of month like this my webcam eventually has stopped getting recognized again.
Calling customer care would only result in suggestions of system restore/ factory reset when I know that the problem is in hardware. I believe the webcam connection is very weak to handle the display tilting. I have searched the web and have fond many similar problem reported by users.
I paid a premium for this laptop a year ago and I am surprised to find the same problem getting reported even now! Hope HP works on remedying this shoddy piece of design!

Ok.. see if emptying the Safari cache helps.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Quit and relaunch Safari and try sharing a webpage.

Emails received on iPad only when PC is off. When PC is on, iPad does not receive mail.

Is this a PC setting ? or an iPad setting.
Email is received ok on iPad but only when PC is OFF.
If both are ON... only PC receives.

If your email service provider offers IMAP, you may want to look into configuring to use it:
IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a protocol (set of rules) for retrieving email messages from a mail server. If you set up your email account to use IMAP, your messages are stored on a server—instead of being downloaded to your computer—so that you can access the same messages from multiple devices.
POP (Post Office Protocol) is a different protocol in which messages are deleted from the server when you read them.
