Availability of 10.1.3.2 for Solaris?

Hi, does anyone have an idea of when BI EE 10.1.3.2 will be released on Solaris? It feel like the Windows / Linux versions have been out for over a month or so.
Thx,
Scott

Sure! Some that come to mind are:
1. Completely new Office Add-in for Excel and PowerPoint with a ton of new and franky, very, very cool features.
2. BI Publisher and Discoverer integration that allows highly formatted reports to be created using BI Publisher that go against Discoverer worksheets, both relational and OLAP.
3. Multi-select search in BI EE.
4. Parameterized Dashboard URLs.
5. Improved template builder in BI Publisher.
6. Export to PowerPoint support in BI Publisher as well as BI EE Dashboards.
7. New Flash template support.
8. Support for some new data sources in the BI Server.
9. And some more that escape my mind at this point...

We are pleased to announce the release for GCC For Sun Systems 4.2.0 cross compilers!
This is a Solaris/x86 hosted compiler with target code generation for
SPARC/Solaris systems. If you develop on your OpenSolaris, or Solaris
x86 laptop or desktop, you can now start compiling your sources for
SPARC systems. Almost all features available in the
native SPARC GCC For Sun Systems 4.2.0 compiler are available
for use in the cross compiler. Please refer to the mini cross compiler howto
page for additional details on install and usage, and gotchas in cross
    development environment.
Please continue to provide us your feedback and issues, which helps
    us make the product better.
    Thanks

Can GCCFSS also cross compile from in reverse - from SPARC to x86/x64?
    Thank you

  • When will 11.1.0.7 will be available for Solaris (SPARC) (32-bit)?

    Hi
Does any of you know when 11.1.0.7 for "Solaris Operating System (SPARC) (32-bit)" will be available for download on http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/oci/instantclient/index.html ?
The reason for my question is that 11.1.0.6 contains a bug (at least on Solaris) causing it to reserve approx 180M swap for each client started!

    Just became available on http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/oci/instantclient/htdocs/solsoft.html

I found by issue "mount -v" that our disk slices are
UFS type. So we don't need apply patch 5257399,
right? Please confirm. Thanks!!!For your information, you are asking the user community to confirm, not Oracle. Some (many?) of us are not employed by Oracle.
Therefore, the only answers you can get are from 'friends'. Nothing would be official and Oracle (and Oracle Support) would not be legally responsible.
Your safest bet would be to escalate the request wityh Oracle Support.

I saw this warning in the content area API home page.
Warning - The Content Area APIs available in 3.0.8.x and 3.0.9.x will not work with Oracle9iAS Portal 9.0.2. They are not available with this release

    Hi-
You can use below manual installation proceeds as follows :
Step 1. Download a setup for Windows and run it on a Windows machine.
Step 2. Once the setup is finished, FTP all the following files and folders from your Windows machine to you Sun Solaris server :
the entire 'bin' folder (excepting the '.bat' files) - ASCII transfer mode
the entire 'lib' folder - BINARY transfer mode
the entire 'drivers' folder - BINARY transfer mode
Step 3. Once you have transferred all the files, do not forget to configure the odiparams.sh file according to your environment. Also add the appropriate files, used by ODI to connect to your technologies, to the 'drivers' folder.
    Does it helpful?

sgen is the driver that exports the uscsi api. I would presume that uscsi and sg would be similar, but annoyingly different. You can see the uscsi interface here: http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-5430/6mksu57l0?l=en&a=view&q=uscsi

  • When will 11gR2 be available for Solaris?

It's been three weeks since the release so I'm curious if anyone knows of a date for when 11gR2 for Solaris will be released?
    Thanks!

Oracle's policy has been to ensure all supported versions of an OS are treated the same at the time of an Oracle s/w release - if they are available, all features for an Oracle release will have been tested and, as far as feasible, will work the same with the exception of performance.
    I admire Oracle's consistency.
I am saddened by people who seem to not accept that Oracle customers may be at a wide variety of supported versions of an OS and should be supported by Oracle product. You certainly have a respectable viewpoint.
I personally was (and am) most saddened at no 11g release at all on the Solaris x86_64 platform. I sometimes wonder if that was political reasons rather than technical or straightforward business decisions.
I generally think that for most Solaris customers moving to 11gR2 the business case would be overwhelming to move to Solaris 10 at the same time (exception might be a client only install). 11gR1 and lower are available to customers wishing to remain below Solaris 10.
What moving to solaris 10 would give is the ability to ensure concentration was made to intergrate well with the Solaris SMF facility rather than a dual SMF/legacy approach; and I'm not sure Oracle can really put in the resources to support both well.
I really dont think are in the upgrade catch-22 that used to occur (but I may be wrong here) .... for instance when Sun ultrasparcs needed Solaris 2.5/2.51 and that Oracle 7.1.4 was not supported on that release (7.1.4 was only supported to Solaris 2.4) . However 7.1.6.2 (which ws the terminal 7.1 release) would not run Oracle Forms 2.3 correctly for existing applications (it finally would (and would do so excellently) with a few patches but 7.1.6.2 had burnt a development DBA badly by that point, nd 7.3 was not an option as that was not compatible with forms 2.3). The upgrade plans for the E-Business Suite on a Sparc 1000 containing dev/test/prod on same Solaris 2.3 server were even more of a nightmare in that era.

Having said that the main pain would probably be that some Solaris 8 / Solaris 9 servers out there may be tight for space on partitions containing root, /usr and /var and an upgrade to solaris 10 might require some shunting and shuffling. If overall server space is an issue then IMHO going to 11gR2 needs to be thought carefully anyway.

  • Firefox 17.0.2 for Solaris 10 (sparc) (contrib) not available

There is a security finding on Firefox 17.0.1 (CVE-2013-0759), and we need to install Firefox 17.0.2 for Solaris 10/sparc. We have to use the 17.x series. For some reason the "ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/17.0.2esr/contrib/" directory is empty.

Has there been any additional info from Oracle as to when they might update Firefox for Solaris 10 SPARC beyond 10.0.7 ESR (''aka Patch ID #145080-12'')? I have not been able to find the referenced package for 10.0.12 ESR within MOS. Realistically, I really need 17.0.5 ESR or later -- the contributed versions are not an option due to their questionable source (''i.e., Beijing'').

    Hi Hans!
    Thanks much.
Currently we are using Oracle database v9, so we are more interested on Oracle 9.x client to be run on "Solaris 10 AMD64".
I searched for the combination of "Oracle client 9.x"/"Solaris x86-64", and came to know this combination is missing(or unavailable) from the client list provided at Oracle web site.

  • Build for solaris 8 on solaris 10 - possible?

I want to build/compile an application for solaris 8, but I only have access to a machine running solaris 10. Can I compile for solaris 8 on a solaris 10 machine, and if so, what do I have to do to make it work?

The short answer is generally no.
The long answer is that it can be done but you will need to make sure that on the Solaris 10 machine you only use functions/headers/libraries that are available on Solaris 8 otherwise they will not be found and the software won't work.

  • Hardware requirement for Solaris 10

    Hi,
Im seeing different requirement for memory when installing Solaris 10, and i was wondering if the following is correct:
    Minimum:64
    Need for GUI: 256
So is it correct that you can install solaris 10 on a sparc og x86 with 64mb ? i guess it is only text then....
    Ole

    Hi,
    The minimum requirements are:
    # Minimum of 256 MB of physical RAM (or 512 MB for PXE booting)
    # Minimum of 2 GB of available hard drive space
There are more details available at:
    http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/specs.jsp
Take a look at the Hardware Compatability Link at the above link to check if the x86 system that you are using is supported, and what its individual requirements are.
    Hope this helps

  • Also I need ndiswrapper support for solaris 10

I have a linksys -G type router and my computer uses a Linksys Wireless-G PCI Adapter with SpeedBooster
which works in Linux like mandrake , debian systems like knoppix and kanotix but their are some buggy like debian also that don't let me change the essid in debian but most linux works with the drivers for my card which are
    04/13/2004 10:01 AM 7,870 BCM43XX.CAT
    03/31/2004 08:44 AM 11,960 BCMWL5.INF
    02/19/2004 11:51 AM 300,928 BCMWL5.SYS
normally you install the drivers with ndiswrapper -i BCMWL5.INF then use -m to add it too the model loader program in linux which adds wlan0 to ifconfig and iwconfig programs
which also ndiswrapper requires the source code of the kernel to install the ndiswrapper right , it req. it too compile the drivers, and using the linux gui programs to setup essid and key wep info
also I use a script in kanotix to use /etc/network/interfaces to load the info on bootup etc.. to get my wireless network card up in linux.
also how the support for soundblaster sound cards in solaris 10, I have not fingured out if theirs sound yet. freebsd 5.4 seemed to be missing the sound support
one more thing in bootup of the install program for Solaris 10 my geforce 6800 card detected right but my tv output was all wrong in since the picture , was only on the monitor and tv had stange graphics on it which did not look right I hope nvidia drivers fix this problem , Is their any different command needed for clone mode in Solaris 10 then free86 nd xorg scripts use?

I got the solutiion from Canon Customer Serivce, temporary until the 10.10 download is released.  It works:
"You can download the latest software updates at this address:
    http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/professional/professional_cameras/eos_digital_slr_cameras/eos_...
Please select "OS X Mavericks v10.9" using the drop-down menu on the page.  You have to pick the previous version of Mac OS, because the options for OS X 10.10 Yosemite have not yet been populated.  I sincerely apologize for any confusion this may cause.  After selecting OS X 10.9, please click on the red triangle next to the word "Software" to see the software updates available for your computer.  I would recommend updating all of your software including EOS Utility and Digital Photo Professional."
I never did find the drop-down menu, but I went into the site map and found what I needed.
