Availability of Zen Micro 4 GB en 6 GB editions in Holla

Hey everyone
I'm interested in buying one of those Zen Micro mp3 players, but in Holland there's still only the 5 GB edition available. I know that in the US they are about to launch a 4 GB and 6 GB edition too. Does anyone know if these types are also coming to holland, en if they are, then when?
I would really appreciate getting a useful answer,
Thanx already
Bart

Well, in some way, you're right. I've heard of stargate and it's true that in Holland they are always a couple of seasons late in comparison to the US.
It's actually too bad. I really adore all the great functions of the Zen Micro, but the capacity is a bit low, with it's 5 GB. Well, I'm thinking of buying a mp3 player around this june/july, so maybe if the 6 GB edition is released in Holland in the meantime, I'd be really pleased.
Thanx for your help anyways

  • Zen Micro with PC connection Problems and no firmw

I'm running on Windows XP Service Pack 2 and I have Windows Media Player 0.
...and my Zen Micro wouldn't be detected, so I formatted it completely and I tried reloading the firmware. My old Zen Micro with v firmware still connects perfectly well, but Windows just doesn't detect my v2 firmware (now no firmware) Zen Micro.
    Advice, please?
    :edit:
Windows DOES detect my Zen Micro now...but I still can't do anything with it. It appears as MTP player connected:

    bkBlade,
Check this Knowledgebase article SID0053 and make sure the USB registry entry is correct. If you do make changes to the registry base on the Knowledgebase info, then try reloading the v2 firmware again.

  • Zen Micro headphone probl

I bought my Zen Micro in mid November(Limited Edition w/ extra battery) and has bee working fantastically until now. As I twist the headphone jack inside its socket, the sound of the music becomes very echo like and very soft but if I continue twisting it then it returns to normal. This has been very persistent for the last month and customer support has been unresponsi've. I only use my Zen on trips and at school, never for excersising and have never dropped it. On occation, if you tug on the headphone jack in just the right way, the player automatically turns on so sometimes in class, my music starts to play. I've called everyday since 5/2 at 3:00pm Western(California) and only get a message telling me the business hours. E-mail has been unresponsi've.
My friend at school also told me that in the first gen Zen Micros that this is a common problem and told me to refer to these fourms and I haven't found much at all with the Search Bar. Thank you for all your help!

  • Zen Micro / Rhapsody To-Go - problems after upgra

I am using my new Zen Micro 6GB with my Rhapsody To-Go subscription. After performing all the reccomended firmware and DRM upgrades, I still have these problems below, which I already reported the issues to the Real people.
While I'm waiting for their responses, does anyone else have the same issues? Any other suggested solutions?
    TRANSFER:
The Rhapsody software refuses to transfer certain tracks that are supposed to be compatible with the To-Go service. The transfer fails and gives me an "unsupported media type" error.</LI>
Solution: Try using Real Player to transfer these tracks. It works for me.</LI>
    DELETE:
I cannot always use the Rhapsody or Real Player software to delete tracks off of the Zen Micro player (It does work sometimes).</LI>
Solution: Use the Creative Media Organizer (CMO) to delete them.</LI>
    SYNC:
Using the Rhapsody software to Sync in "Overwrite" mode does not delete tracks I removed from playlists. </LI>
Solution: Use CMO to delete tracks, restart Rhapsody, then sync</LI>
    LIBRARY CHAOS IN CMO:
Tracks transfered with Rhapsody are in artist folders, but split between two master "Music" folders</LI>
Tracks transfered with Real Player are listed only as individual tracks, not in artist folders</LI>
Solution: ? I'm afraid that re-organizing tracks will cause more problems within Rhapsody</LI>
    PLAYLISTS IN CMO:
Rhapsody playlists are shown on the Zen Micro, but cannot be seen/edited within CMO.</LI>

I'd appreciate any help anyone can give me.

Hi -- Actually - wasn't aware of that - but I had started Napster just to see what happened - and nothing.
That being said - I e-mailed help desk and got another series of steps to get the device to be recognized. Different drivers to download, etc.
After a few more hours of playing with it - I was able to reconnect and when I reconnected to Napster - the transfer errors were gone.
I'm not posting the steps only because I'm not exactly sure what caused it to stop being recognized in the first place and then what caused it to start transferring again. Personally -- I think it was when I threatened to replace it with an IPOD
Just really glad to have it back!! Thanks all for your assistnce.

  • Travel Dock Zen Micro IS Availa

While wondering about Best Buy today, I discovered the Travel Dock Zen Micro in stock. Just 30 days ago Creative told me they didn't know when this product would be available in the US. One reason for the delay may have been the MicroPhoto because the box shows both Micro and MicroPhoto being used in the device. Best Buy's price is $29 US.
An earlier discussion in another thread claimed the Travel Dock lid (which doubles as the desktop stand) could not be closed with the Micro in place. The box clearly shows that it can, so I will be checking it out later today. The box also lists an accessory for the unit I hadn't heard of before, a matching powered subwoofer.

My Micro is playing in the TravelDock as I write this. And I can confirm that the lid does close with the Micro in place. The unit has a good sound. I've got it full volume right now. There is no deep bass, but again, these are .5 inch speakers. I will try a powered subwoofer I have with the unit later. There is enough power to fill an average size room or to enjoy the music outside. There is a switch that alters the sound field from narrow to wide. The effect is noticeable if you are listening for it. The connection between the TravelDock and the Micro is easy to make and the Micro sits very securely in the dock. The lid works as desktop stand as well and is held in place by two rubber grippers that are rather stiff and needed some coaxing to work. I will expect these will loosen with use. The documentation on Creative's website says the TravelDock doesn't include batteries, but mine did have 4 Eveready alkalines in the box.
Not too many people have seen the MicroPhoto yet, but apparently it is not exactly the same size as the Micro. There is a small rubber self adhesi've spacer included with the TravelDock. The manual says this small spacer needs to be inserted into the dock if you plug in a MicroPhoto, So, I'm guessing the MicroPhoto is a few millimeters thinner than the Micro. Is that right?

  • Zen Micro is frozen, Rescue mode not availa

Aurgh. I've had my Zen Micro since October, and it's worked well up until today. I went to power it on and it would boot up just to the Zen Micro splash screen, where it stayed. I couldn't power it off using the power button so I took the battery out several times. Each time I put it back the Micro would boot to the Zen Micro screen, but wouldn't go any further. Finally, I read how to put the player in Rescue Mode. When I boot up after taking the battery out and with the power button held, it does the exact same thing. No Rescue Mode is available, no other menu comes up.
Any ideas on how to resolve? I really don't want to send this back to Creative for repair.
    Thanks-
    Jennifer Portnick

Not sure if this is even possible (if it won't start up under any circumstance), but have you tried updating to the newest firmware?

Hey Dudes! That's the ZEN. Many websites dubb it as the big brother of the micro. Well, function wise, i guess so. The only difference is the size. The thickness is the same, but the other 2 dimensions are slightly larger though. Despite the larger size, its memory is 4 times that of micro. Oh yeah, the sound's superb too (SNR 96 dB). The battery life isn't too bad though...lasted me ard 8-0 hrs with no EQ, volumes 9-6,contrast: 0%. It's a fabulous product, i'll say!
Well, if you want to know more, please feel free to fill on me - either via the thread or private msg me.

  • Creative MediaSource won't recognize my Zen Micro all of the sudden!! What is going o

When I first began using my Zen Micro, Creative MediaSource worked fine. I could start my player and it recognized it right away. Then I was told I had to update my firmware and download an update to MediaSource. I did both but shortly thereafter I started having problems! Primarily, when i plug in my Micro a window pops up where I have 3 options, none of which are Creative MediaSource. The window has "MTP Media Player" across the top bar, but i havn't a clue what the "MTP" stands for. The 3 options given are "Sync your music using Napster", "Synchronize media files to this device using Windows Media Player", and "Take no action". I initialy tried "Take no action" and then opened MediaSource only to find it didn't recognize my Micro any more. I then e-mailed Creative for help and got a reply telling me to.............
Thank you for contacting Creative Technical Support.
In regards to your issue, you can try uninstall and reinstall
    MEdiaSource with these procedures.
. Click START -> RUN -> type MSCONFIG and click OK.
    2. Click SELECTIVE STARTUP and then uncheck LOAD STARTUP GROUP ITEMS.
    3. Apply the changes and reboot the computer when prompted.
    4. Uninstall MediaSource from the system using ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.
    5. Manually delete the MediaSource folders from the computer system :
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\MEDIASOURCE
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\CTCDDB
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\MEDIA MANAGER
    C:\MEDIA\MUSIC
    6. Right-click your My Computer icon and click Properties.
    7. Click the Hardware tab and then click Device Manager.
    8. Remove any listings for Creative NOMAD products in the Device
    Manager
(they will most likely be located in the Uni'versal Serial Bus
    Controllers category).
    9. If you have a category call Other Devices, look for listings in
    there
called USB Device. If you have any, remove them.
    0. Install MediaSource only from the original installation CD.
NOTE: DO NOT OPEN MEDIASOURCE WHILE PERFORMING THESE PROCEDURES.
Also, you can try reloading the Zen Micro's firmware through recovery
    mode.
Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert
the battery to the Zen Micro. Hold the Power button until the rescue
    mode appears.
Clean Up: Performs a disk scan on the players hard disk
Format: Formats the players hard disk All contents will be lost
Reload OS: Reloads the Operating System on the Jukebox. Do not select
this option unless you have downloaded the firmware. Reloading your OS
will not effect the contents of the files stored on your Jukebox Zen
    Reboot: Reboots the device
Please attempt the options 'Reboot' and 'Clean Up' first. If they do
    not
help, you must try 'Reload OS'. To do this, you must have a downloaded
firmware from our website ready. Please let us know the results after
these steps, as soon as possible.
For faster service please reply with previous correspondence when
    replying to this email.
    Best Regards,
    Technical Support
    Creative Labs Americas
    "Get Creative"
I followed the directions, but 3 of the folders listed in step 5 didn?t exist (only C:\PROGRAM FILES\CREATIVE\MEDIASOURCE did), there were no Creative NOMAD products listed as in step 8, and there was no ?Other Devices? as stated in step 9. I did everything else for all the steps through step 0.
I then re-installed Creative MediaSource from the CD only to find it still didn?t recognize my player! I?ve now done this twice with the same results!
Zen Micro Media Explorer doesn?t even recognize my Micro when it'ss plugged in! It just keeps saying ?The device is not connected. Please connect your Zen Micro to the computer?.
I?m hardly a tech expert, but it seems to me that something on my PC is detecting my player and decieding for itself that the only 2 programs it will let manage my Zen Micro are Napster and Windows Media Player. If this is the case where do I go from here?!?!

    LakeTahoeGuy,
Just as SSR mention, if you're using v2.xx.xx (MTP) firmware then you will need to get the correct version of Media Explorer that support this firmware and also install the MTP plugin for MediaSource. Both the software and plugin are available from the site SSR mention.

  • ZEN MICRO won't hold it's charge!!!!!!!!!!

I have owned a 5GB Zen Micro for about 3 years. Up until about 4 months ago I had no problem with the unit holding it's charge for several hours. Now I can't get it to last for more than 0-5 minutes when using the FM radio. By that time the battery indicator shows hardly any charge left and then it does dead. Any [email protected]

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I had considered the possibility that the battery may indeed be at the end of it's life. As it turned out I also googled the model and battery name, and came up with a Canadian site that had?them on ?sale and decided that with postage it would be just as cheap as getting it'sdirectly from?the US with higher postage costs and the exchange rate. I love this model so much I hope to keep using it for years to come provided I have no further more costly problems. Despite it's greater thickness compared to similiar models it is a very attracti've looking unit.
The reason I chose?the Zen Micro?in the first place, as opposed to an iPod?was because I could replace the battery if need be, and also for it's FM radio capability. I?did have to have the chip that contains the earphone jack connections replaced last year, as many other owners have also had to do. But it was worth the $60 it cost me.

I had originally planned to buy an iPod back in '04, because everyone else had one, but after I saw? this video I decided to do some more research. I ended up with a 5 Gb Zen Micro in February '05 and wondered why anyone buys an iPod, when a far superior product was available from Creative.
The original battery started? to go about a year and a half ago, so I popped a new one in and kept on enjoying it. I thought that I would finally have to say goodbye to my little friend when I accidentally dropped it onto a tile floor. The dreaded click/whirr...click/whirr...click/whirr... of a dead hard dri've.
I read a few posts on the Say Goodbye to My Little Friend (Zen Micro)? thread and replaced the dead hard dri've with a SanDisk 8Gb? Ultra II Compact Flash card, using the instructions on? this page.
I was so happy to see it boot up aain and once the firmware was loaded, I started filling it up with some of my favourite music. It's nice to have an extra 3 Gb of storage space too!?

  • Zen Micro Playli

This is beginning to really annoy me.
I can't find a simple way to create and use playlists using Windows Media 0 and my Zen Micro.
While it's very easy top create a playlist in WM0 and then sync it's contents tothe Zen, how do I then play that playlist?
The only option that I can see is to delete everything from the Zen, syn the playlist over and then play all. Not an ideal solution.
I know that I can build a playlist in Mediasource but I can't see a way to sysnc that list either.
The ONLY way that I've seen so far to create a playlist on the Zen itself is to use the Zen media explorer.
I see that Notmad has the option to copy a WM0 playlist over tothe Zen but I don't feel that I should have to fork out $25 to get some basic functionality.
Am I missing something really obvious here or is this functionality just not available?
    Regards
    Dave

  • New Creative Zen Micro Is

This is another one of the Zen Micro Issues.
So I'm fully excited to get my new mp3 player. I got two batteries with my micro so that was a plus. I toss in a battery and setup the software on the PC. I fully installed everything then plugged in the zen micro to charge it via usb and put some files on it. Well everythings working wonderfully. It fully charges after 3 hours so I take it off and start listening to the player. Everythings great but figure out I want some more files. I plug the player back in (NOTE: I have not removed the cable from the back of the PC) and viola it won't recognize within the operating system. Now, I can hear the hardware remove noise and plug in within Windows XP and the player will goto a docked state but the OS still shows the player not connected. The only way I can get the player to stop saying docked is by removing the battery. I then went through the normal troubleshooting procedures. I uninstalled all software, cleaned the registry then reinstalled the applications. No Avail. Pissed that the device may be busted already, BTW the thing smells like it's burnt if you take off the battery and the other batter right out of the plastic wrapping smells the same, I turn to my laptop. Install the crap ass software onto that thing and I have the same exact problem on my laptop as I did on my PC. Out of Ideas I noticed that the player no longer was charging since it was plugged into the usb port and not doing the illumination thing. So I thought up an idea, what if something in the player's firmware won't allow it to be recognized if the device is fully charged? Makes sense to me so I pulled the fully charged battery out and swapped it with the other battery that was pretty much dead. OMFG it works again! It's magic I tell ya, magic!
So I've put more mp3's on it and I've swapped the batteries and am running the player to try to wear down the fully charged battery. I will let everyone know the outcome if once it gets to two bars and I plug it in if it works. If so then it's all in Creative's firmware.

I am having basically the same problem with a new Zen Micro. The computer almost always recognizes the Zen; it appears in device manager; but when a music transfer program loads, the program says nothing is connected. Meanwhile, the Zen Micro locks on "docked" and I have to remove the battery several times to get it working again. I have tried it on two laptops with the same results. Tech support told me to try it on my desktop, then take it back to the store.
It seems like the only time it works is when I have been trying for a while, which made your post about the partially discharged battery interesting. I had thought about maybe the hard dri've loosening up a bit. Asus had a problem with one motherboard one time because it could not power up a hard dri've fast enough and would result in a hard dri've failure message. Then, it would boot right up the next time.

  • Random Problems with Zen Micro? Try a diff. USB cable

I know people have mentioned this in other posts, but I thought I would reiterate it here. Many people seem to be complaining that their player is not recognized, or only sometimes recognized, or recognized by Windows (as a USB device) but not by their Creative software, or songs won't transfer, etc. Well, I had some similar problems which ALL went away when I started using a different USB cable - the one that shipped with the Micro just doesn't seem to work consistently.
So, if you are having problems with your player that you can't seem to solve any other way, you may want to try a different USB cable. It worked for me.
Hope this helps - I am (now) loving my new Micro!

I tried a different USB cable also, I thought that it would help, but I still got the same problems. I can almost guarantee that although you think you may have solved your issues, they WILL come back.
I've also been experiencing the "Player Not Connected" problem with my Zen Micro.
I've also had the problem where the Zen Micro just freezes in the "Docked" screen even after it has been disconnected from the PC
I've noticed that these are common problems with Zen Micros with the new firmware (.0.03)
My old Zen Micro with the old, original firmware did NOT have this connectivity problem
Creative should investigate these issues associated with this new firmware, or maybe even making the old firmware available for download to see if this really is the source of all these problems.

  • Need help with Zen Micro Photo: It stays in recovery m

Just recently, my zen micro photo has been staying in recovery mode. I have tried all of the four options available? to me in recovery mode. .) Clean up 2.) Formatt All 3.) Reload Firmware? 4.) Reboot. When I try "Reload Firmware". It doesn't really "reload". All it does is erase the current firmware, which it has done several times. My computer doesn't really realize the player. It doesn't allow me to acess my songs, which have already been deleted. It says the "Player is not connected". At first, I thought I needed to charge. I charged it to maximmum. The battery is "FULL". Also, the firmware update doesn't recognize the player either. Whenever I select the reboot option, my player reboots to recovery mode. This does no good, as I have tried all of the available options in recovery mode, and they have done no good. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.Message Edited by Damaniscool on 04-2-200707:29 PM

do you hear a sound from the hard dri've like it's stuck? this is common. if so, please search this forum for "hard dri've whack" or "percussi've repair".

  • What happened to the Zen Micro Pho

I had asked my parents to buy me the Zen Micro Photo as a gift for Christmas and they thought they had got the right one but they got the older Zen Micro, not the photo one. Not a big deal I thought, I would just go back to the store and exchange it. Well, it seems that the Micro Photo doesn't even exist anywhere. It isn't even available to buy on Creatives store, it isn't even listed as an option. Every store I have called told me that they don't carry that model, and every web site I have gone to is out of stock. I even called Amazon.com and asked them when they thought they would be getting more in and they said they didn't know. I called Bestbuy, CircuitCity, various electronics stores in the New York/New Jersey areas and everyone is sold out or never carried it. Just two weeks ago I saw it for sale on Creatives site and now it isn't there. I plan on calling Creatives customer service in the morning and asking them about it. Does anyone here know what happened, is it going to be available again or is it being replaced?

Well I doubt that Creative just stopped making them, I remember while looking for a White one in the U.S. I called up Creative asking when they'll be sending more out and they told me late January/Early February they'll be shipping them out to retailer. I really wanted the White one to be honest but they only have grey over in the U.S. and I didn't want to have to order through the U.K. or Singapore for one.
Yeah, I don't think the microphoto has been discontinued. I just think they're having some stock supply/demand issues and they're all sorts of screwed up with their websites for different regions around the world and the availability of items. It would be dumb to get rid of the micro and the microphoto since that would leave nothing to really compete with the ipod nano (and I don't think too many people are buying the neeon, but I could be wrong).
Though I still would like to hear what the moderators know about the future of all of the different creative mp3 players.
